Worst customer service EVER. Sonic has always been one of my favorite childhood stops, and tonight I was really looking forward to stopping here after 6 hours of airline travel being pretty hungry. Unfortunately, tonight 12/30/16 around 11pm will make me never come back to this location. First, I waited in the drive thru line for about 15 minutes behind only 3 cars to order. When approaching the ordering booth, it took someone 3 MINUTES to take my order. This location seemed to be out of everything... They were out of chicken, ALL breakfast items, milkshakes and probably more. If I knew this ahead of time, I wouldn't have even bothered waiting in the 15 minute line in the first place. Then, getting to the window I see no reason why it took so long to order. A friendly man took my money and gave me change then walked away. A girl then came up saying my food would be out shortly. After 2 minutes she comes back and is gossiping loudly to the employee across the way, with the conversation going like "send back a text saying I want you too winky face". WHAT THE HECK. Then she realized the window was open and shut it looking at me saying "sorry it's cold" and then running back laughing. This honestly really made me upset and disgusted at this point. Completely unprofessional. Getting the food 10 minutes after being at the window was really disappointing too since I was in a hurry to get home. The food was alright, but this service was completely unacceptable. read more

The food was okay but the customer service was horrible. The employees are extremely unprofessional. One girl kept screaming at the cashier to close the window while I'm speaking to him. Another worker who was making our shake was cussing like a sailor and two employees were on cell phones. FINNAAALLLY, a sonics that is near by San Jose. Before i would drive an hour and a half. The drinks are worth it during happy hour (2-4pm) 1/2 off all drinks. Everything else is worth trying. Its more of the experience that your coming for. read more

I love Sonics. I like it way more than In and Out because they actually have something besides boring burgers. I like their slushees that give me brain freeze. It is quick and it tastes great for a fast food chain. read more

I have been bragging about coming here for what seems like forever. My family and I finally went shopping at the outlets and we came here. We loved the service on skates and the food was great. Fast and sweet (the help not the food) lol. I got a simple burger ketchup only with tots and a raspberry iced tea. i loved it all except my raspberry iced tea, to much syrup. It's been a tradition that every time we drive home from SoCal, we stop at this place. Mostly order the sonic dogs or the limeade. The tater tots are so good. Seriously, after eating this place, I'm hitting the gym LOL. But this place is worth going after a long drive from LA. read more

I have gone to Sonic on occasion since I work in Gilroy. Normally I don't like to drive thru at fast food restaurants, but have gotten used to it when going here. I usually sit in my car and order form the kiosks, then eat my meal in my car before leaving the parking lot. I love getting the Sonic Burger meal, and love getting the peppermint candy with the meal. Once in while I'll drive thru tog et ice cream cones. I have yet to order some of the other ice cream desserts, but someday. read more

For a quick bite without getting out of my car, I turn to Sonic! I've been to three Sonics and they never fail me. I usually only get the chili cheese dog, chili cheese fries and popcorn chicken with ranch dip. I have tried their shakes/malts and they're also very good. They have burgers too, but I would rather go to an In N Out or Five Guys for that. read more

This is more like 3.5 stars. There is not a close Sonic but I was in the area. I was amazed how packed it was. The food and menu choices were better than I expected. I think this is a place to go more for the refreshing beverages. I had a burger and it wasn't bad but nothing special. The cherry limeade that I had was really good. We stopped here as a halfway point coming home from the holiday weekend. We don't live anywhere near a Sonic so we thought it would be nice to stop. WORST DECISION. Two of our burgers were wrong (why pay for bacon and not get bacon? Missing onions. Two pickles when requested extra). You get the point. We noticed this after getting back onto the freeway. What is the point in spending $30 on what should be cheap fast food, only to get it wrong? Huge waste of money. And terribly disappointed. Do yourself a favor and go to IN N OUT instead! read more

Grilled cheese sandwiches have long been a favorite of mine :] All I can say is, Sonic Drive-In makes great ones! :D The bread's so soft and the cheese is melted to perfection. Might I add that the tatertots are absolutely delicious? They're not overly-fried, and although they're not healthy (as fried things typically aren't), they don't taste toooooo unhealthy :] That's a plus in my book! Being vegetarian, I'm kind of forced to order Grilled cheese as they don't have much veggie variety, but that's the only downfall. I ordered the kid's meal grilled cheese sandwich, with a banana side and chocolate milk both times I've been there, and it's been great every time. The service is great: the workers are always smiling, and the food is prepared with exuberance! I love how they wear roller blades! I love the 70's setup with the drive-in service! Be sure to give this place a try when you're shopping in the area (like in Gilroy Outlets ;) ) It's worth every buck :] read more

It's frustrating when Sonic commercials bombard the television set and friends you talk to from other places always talk about Sonic slushies being the best drink at any fast food place. The closest Sonic to San Jose is about 20 miles south in Gilroy so unless you're in the area or passing through, it's not really feasable to drive out. I was only a couple of miles away at the Gilroy Outlets so I decided to make the short drive over to see what the hype was about. I had my slushie picked out in advance, 44oz blue coconut, and decided to get a regular Sonic burger. Sadly the slushie was underwhelming. It was a bright neon blue, which I knew ahead of time but was kind of horrified to see up close, knowing i was going to ingest 44oz of what looked like pure food coloring. The real disappointment was that the coconut flavor wasn't as strong as I thought it would be, it was almost an aftertaste that was masked by all the sugar. On top of that it was stinging the back of my tongue, like what happens when you eat a Freeze Pop. I think I read there are tens of thousands of slushie flavor combinations and I'm willing to try another flavor or two, but blue coconut is out. The burger was good for fast food, it was like a Whopper with a softer and fresher bun. I'd put it in the top half of fast food burgers I've had. They need to open a Sonic closer to Silicon Valley, not sure why the only one is stuck out in the middle of nowhere. As it is, my first trip wasn't impressive enough to warrant a second trip unless I happen to be in the area. If I need a slushie I'll make one at home, or just run to a 7-11 and get a Slurpee. read more

i love Sonics. seriously best fast food joint ever. i'm so glad they opened up a Sonics in gilroy. yes kinda far, but so worth it. sonic burger with cheez, and a LARGE apple or strawberry limeade. *SIGH* heavennnnnnn! :) nows all they gotta do is.. open up a Sonic's in SAN JOSE. i think they'd put all the McDonalds, Jack in the Boxes, Burger Kings, KFCs, and In-N-Outs outta business. read more

I went to Sonic on our way home from Long Beach visiting family. I must say the double bacon cheeseburger was very good. Damn near perfect. I was pleasantly surprised and the root beer with lots of nugget ice was delicious. They are the only restaurant that carries the soft nugget ice and no other restaurants carries this. Some hospitals do but the nugget ice is much harder and nothing like Sonic ice. If you love chewing on nugget ice like I do, you'll know what I'm talking about. I just wish Sonic wasn't so far from where I live and they would open one up in Daly City. read more

Decided to try Sonic for the first time after seeing all the commercials. I got the double cheeseburger, mozzarella sticks, and the real fruit slushie with strawberry. The cheeseburger was standard fast food fare in the range of McDonald's and Burger King. Decent but not a great burger. Mozzarella sticks were very typical and the slushie was basically a 7-11 slurpee with real fruit in it, which isn't a bad thing if that's what you are in the mood for. read more

The commercials make the food look way more appetizing than it is in person, but that's every fast-food chain's great sin. This particular branch was quite disorganized. They forgot two items from our first order. When we re-ordered them, they took forever, and STILL forgot one of the items. This is the worst sonic I've ever been to. We waited for 15 minutes in the stall trying to order food and drinks and then they told us the stalls were closed after we got out of the car and asked for help. It was completely ridiculous, we would have appreciated them telling us in the beginning as soon as we pushed the button to order. Completely disappointed in this sonic. All We wanted was to order food but instead we were let down with the service and ultimately had to leave. read more

I'm a Texas gal and have grown up with sonic burgers all around me. They are delicious, but moving out here I was sad to see the closest one to me 30 min away. I have made the trip a couple of times with a craving for their yummy burgers and cherry limeade. This is not a sonic, it doesn't taste anything like a sonic. My cherry limeade tastes like sprite, my burger tasted like bad onions, and the peps taking the orders are rude and can't take an order right. Very frustrating, and not worth the drive, very disappointing. Please take this advice from a sonic fan, don't go here and expect a sonic experience, it's a ripe off. Try the one in Tracy, they taste like a sonic is supposed to! read more

I haven't had Sonic since the early 90's when I'd visit family in Texas. I remembered that it was pretty good, but hadn't thought much of it since. Fast forward to today, and we now have a Sonic in Gilroy, so I thought I'd check it out. I was pleasantly surprised that the Sonic burger was pretty good. I'd put it on par with In-n-out, and clearly better than a McDs or BK burger. Also had a Cherry Limeade which was refreshing and delicious. Plus you have to love the ambience of being able to pull up in your car, order off the menu, and have the food brought to you by a carhop. I just miss the old trays that hang off your car window. :) Will definitely be returning. read more

Its cool how they bring out ur food by roller skates. and I haven't been wowed by a burger since the first time I had in n out, and that was like a decade ago. I come to Sonic mainly for the drinks... I'm not a big fan of the food. In my opinion the food is mediocre and you could probably find better burgers elsewhere. However, I love all the drink options! I usually like to play it safe and get my usual (strawberry cream slush) but occasionally I'll switch it up and get one of the various limeades. It's also entertaining to have your food served to you, car-side, by waiters and waitresses on roller skates/blades. read more

I like their foo. For a fast food place, they are pretty good. I have been here only once but I tell you if you are not on a diet and you like burgers you are in the right place. They are tasty and they are greasy. Go there with a hungry stomach and will power to pump some iron to convert the stuff to some muscle with a little bit of luck. read more

We went here as we don't have one near us. We got kids out as we wanted to eat at patio. The order machine didn't seem to work and many players skated by and did nothing. One came out for a break and says someone would be out. We waited 20 min with two kids, one with Autism who was very upset when we left as we didn't want to give our $$ for non existent service. read more

I really used to love this place mainly the drinks and always felt it was good service but as of lately the staff has really gone down hill. A bunch of kids who could careless mainly there to get paid. They took 10 mins to take our order and another 30 minutes to get the food out to us. Keep in mind there were a total of about 5 people at Sonics. After we paid full price for our food, they didn't give us the chili cheese fries we ordered. Only after asking why they didn't give us the food did we get a refund. The employees were fully ready to keep our money for food we didn't recieve. They came up with of an excuse of "being out of chili." They then asked if we wanted a side to replace the fries. We asked for tots and waited 20 mins. They come back 20 mins later reporting that they're out of tots. Apparently Sonics is out of eveeyrhing, including quality service. Don't eat here. read more
