My wife went to Sonic Manassas on 5/19. The customer service was terrible. No one was working the front counter causing people to leave without ordering. And she was unable to order a Sonic Blast for whatever reason. The drive in parking spots had signs directing the customer to come inside where every table was dirty and the floors were so sticky it was grabbing their shoes. I went there on 5/20, again the customer service was terrible. No one answered the drive through so I pulled to the window where I was told the ice cream machines were being cleaned and they were out of chicken tenders. Meanwhile, no one in the back is working. They are all standing around goofing off. If I owned this restaurant I would be upset with the way it was being run. I don't think we will be coming back for a while. If you value Sonic's food at all then don't come to this location. Takes forever to get any service when you walk in and IF you do it's angry teenagers who don't get your order correct. We drive over an hour to get here atleast 3 times now and everytime food is Luke warm, order is incorrect and the staff is too busy being loud and rude in the back to help anyone up front. I have repeatedly had poor service from this location. Slow service, missing items, you name it. Today just clinches it. There's nothing like giving them 15 mins lead time by ordering online to make two items only to get there and have to wait an additional 15 mins to receive. Went inside since I figured it was a pretty simple order. I couldn't have been more wrong. When the third person came out and asked again if I needed help, I told them they were the third to ask me that for an order that should have long since been ready. I presume she was the shift manager (7PM Sat Oct 12), and she said they had other customers, to which I told her that I'm a paying customer too. "Well, they're paying customers too. Do you want a refund?" No - I want what I've already paid for. "Well, I guess you only have two choices then." I told her, "No, I can also choose not to come back." Other customer next to me is just shaking his head. They finally came out with my order, but it didn't have to be this ridiculously difficult. Do yourself a favor: Freddy's is only a couple of minutes away. I can get anything from them that I would get from Sonic. It's bright, clean, well-staffed, and everyone there could not be more polite. It's completely the opposite experience of this Sonic. read more

This was my first Sonic experience and well, it was underwhelming. The burgers were fine, but nothing great. I know, it's a chain, but chains can be good too. I realize the draw is the drive in portion. However, my friend needed to use the bathroom and they wouldn't let him even though we were paying customers with masks on... that's a little too much. Came here after a funeral and the food hit the spot. We went through the drive thru to grab our food. It was cool that they have an old school feel when you order. The service was good, they answered when we needed and brought the items we ordered. Missed some of our condiments, but they were quick to bring them out. The nerds drink was fun to order and drink!! I haven't had corn dogs in YEARS and I was so excited to have some again. Great food and good service especially after a tough day. read more

Slowest Sonic in existence. Not enough drive-in stalls, the drive-thru runs at a snails pace and there is still no inside seating despite months out of covid restrictions. When it was known Manassas was getting a Sonic, people were excited. I went to see what the fuss was all about. I went mid-day, so there was no one in front of me ordering. The best part of Sonic is the first-rate app. The food and service are second rate. Don't go during peak periods or you will have a long wait and misfilled orders. I placed an order for ASAP pickup at 7:15 pm Friday. The app said the order would be ready in 5 to 7 minutes. I drove to a stall that had just been occupied. The server had not cleared the order so when I tried to check in the app said the stall was occupied. I told a carhop and he took my name and stall number. Twenty minutes later I told another car hop that we were still waiting. We got the food after 50 minutes and drove to the parking lot to eat it where we immediately noticed that one item was missing. I had to find someone in the kitchen to give me the missing item. Back in the car my bacon on bacon cheeseburger had only one patty instead of two. It hardly mattered because the meat was totally devoid of beef flavor. Likewise, the cherry limeades were missing all cherry flavor. There are better options for fast food nearby. read more

TERRIBLE service. my boyfriend and i ordered TWO drinks after driving 20 minutes since we don't have a sonic near us. that's all we ordered. we arrived for pickup and waited 30 minutes. after that, we decided to get to the drive thru to sort this out. the drive thru line was extremely slow moving... only 4 cars and it took so long for each car to even get past the speaker. i tried calling the restaurant in case that was faster, but nobody answered so my boyfriend called (and had the same issue). we saw them sweeping and mopping inside, even though nobody picked up the phone. when we got to the speaker, they asked the name of the order. they then told us that they "didn't have an order of that name". we asked to confirm what location this was, to eliminate any possibility that WE made an error. they actually didn't answer with the location (even though we confirmed it by looking at our location on google maps), but instead had called a manager without even telling us. the manager told us to pull up to the window. after waiting for an addition 10 minutes for the two cars in front of us, we got to the window (and waited for 2 minutes to be acknowledged). she asked the name of the order, and once we told her she handed us our two drinks. literally right away. avoid this place like the plague, find anywhere else to go. read more

Service was terrible. There was 0 parking and the drive thru line had over 10 cars in it (since you couldn't just park to run in). The inside was absolutely filthy. Tables with piles of trash and trays that the staff had been washing but abandoned. I hope that the kitchen was cleaner than the tables, property or bathrooms... because it's amazing no one has contracted some sort of foodborne illness. read more

This sonic is much smaller then other locations I've been to. They don't have as many drive in spots as others which can be a bit tough if that's what you wanted to do BUT they do have order ahead options on the app and drive thru as well. There app seems easy to use so that would be a good option. Be sure to check the app for deals and also to check when they have half price slushes. Whoever runs this place needs to get their crap together. I grew up with sonic and it was always good, I craved it and still do- but this Sonic does not fill that craving. It's a disappointment every-time (as far as food goes) It's hard to screw up a drink. Anyway, they are always out of everything. Like the core items. It will be 11:30 am and they are out of items. Learn some inventory strategies. Know your numbers. They could be so much better. Make sure your burgers are hot. So annoying to bite into a lukewarm burger. The cheese should be melted. It says it right there in the name--Sonic Drive-In. This location has only a half-dozen drive-up kiosks. If you choose to park across from them and wait for one to open, invariably a driver arriving at just the right moment (or even one that arrived after you did to also wait) will try to swoop in and grab your spot unless you play some major car defense. Cars in the kiosks that have received their orders generally remain parked there to dine instead of taking their food elsewhere to free up the valuable real estate. (Again, I find myself playing car defense to make sure that my spot goes to someone who had waited.) The drive-thru window is backed up for at least a block always. Sonic orders take a long time. Do they not advise customers to move along to the parking lot and not sit in the drive-thru lane after they've ordered and paid? (I'm asking; I honestly do not know.) The site was formerly a Burger King, so perhaps they were unable to run cabling underneath the existing blacktop to parking spaces other than those next to the building, but they need to consider utilizing some sort of wireless system or overhead cables to expand capacity. Otherwise, what's the point in going to a Sonic? The food? Really? I will always remember the server who handed me my milkshake and then gave me a spoon because (as I was already aware) their shakes are substantially think. Went to SONIC for lunch today, ordered a bacon cheese burger, totts, chocolate shake. Service was fast and friendly - we only waited for a few minutes and our food came out. The burger was a typical fast food burger, totts were ok - just not a lot of them, shake was really good. Place was clean and staff were all cleaning when not working with customers. I read the reviews and a lot of the reviews were written right after it opened, I think they are more squared away now. If you're expecting a custom gourmet burger this is not the place, if you're looking for something different in fast food burgers - give it a try. read more

The drive thru line was to the road and didnt move terribly fast. However, the 20 minutes we waited were worth it because the double cheeseburger and Cookie dough Oreo blast were out of this world! Avoid this place, at all costs . Ignore the nostalgia. The first thing you will notice is the sheer amount of people leaving empty handed. They noticed what I did not, this place sucks. I, having want to relive my last trip to Sonic had pulled in to one of the Drive up stalls. It is a push for service device, push the button, wait to order. This part was smooth. After a simple two drink order was placed the wait began. It was during this we noticed 5/7 groups who walked up had returned to their car empty handed after a short while. Meanwhile the car beside us, who had put their order in before we got there received theirs. For us it has it had been 25 minutes at this time. Unfortunately I overheard that their Neards shake was missing one key thing. NEARDS! Another ten minutes the server appeared bring another wrong shake . It was here I saw this solo server was doing his best ( we will get to him in a bit). He took it upon himself to fix the order.) After he returned he was quickly off to the next car. Five minutes after that he returned, this time to our car. A whole 40 minutes later . Roy( I think) was the only cool part of this trip. You could see he was busting his ass, and was only working as good as his kitchen staff. (Who I presume work blindfolded.) After we received our orders we finally were off. It was not until then I realized my milkshake was half melted. There are simply better options just down the road like Checkers . Don't waste your time or money here. Best part of visiting this Sonic was the free entertainment of watching one of the carhops skate around the parking lot and the grape slush. Tater tots were terrible, I can do better at home with ORE-IDA and sea salt. The Queso Burger was dry, cheese and green hatch Chile's were fine. Was not expecting fine dining, but at least have a juicy burger and properly cooked frozen tater tots. read more

Oh, Sonic, we were all rooting for you. You tried...and sadly failed. I heard so much hype for years about this place..."Try it, Justin! Ooh, it's better than Dairy Queen!" How is it that I order ONE side of fries but am given TWO sides of tater tots and onion rings? You gave me multiple of what I asked for and still got it wrong both times. The chilli dog I ordered tasted like a school lunch hot dog, the honey mustard was bland, and chicken tenders didn't taste fully-cooked. And those slushes everyone raves about? Tasted like a kindergartener - who got too trigger happy with the sugar and forgot about ice - made it. I would've returned my order, but the line was at least a 40 minute wait. It's a Sonic! The same menu as all of the others, so all of your favorites are there. Previously they required traveling to Fredericksburg, VA, Winchester, VA, or Frederick, MD. Now, they are much closer. This is a little unusual. They remodeled the old Burger King so it has a very large eat-in area. I've seen some other Sonics with eat-in, but never one with this much eat-in space. There are three tables outside, and approximately 8-10 of the traditional drive up car-hop service bays in the front. The lines are crazy right now. 20-30 minutes to order. Lots of people love their Sonic! They have a huge crew there trying to keep up, and I give them props that the food came out hot and fresh only about 5 minutes after ordering. While our order was perfect, I saw a number of orders with problems they corrected quickly. Probably just part of being open for 3 days and trying to get everyone properly trained. Let's hope Sonic opens more in the area! read more

This store has just opened very recently, went one time before was very crowded and dirty. So I waited little longer hoping that they get the kinks worked out. So went to Sonic again on Oct 20 2019 for lunch wasn't to crowded, however took well over 30 min to get to counter and order food. As I approach the register I notice only one lady is working the register and a quite overweight manager is sitting at a table talking to another worker laughing and joking around while a lot people are waiting to get their food and the place is going to pot and fast too I mean really this place is open less then a month and this is how dirty this place is , so bad I think I will go back and check one more time and if it is dirty I think I will call the health Dept this is bad and people will start getting sick. If this is the way it is where people can see I don't even wanna think about if they are even washing their hands after going to the bathroom reallllly make you wonder. I think the manager needs to get off his behind and start getting this place clean I can't believe the franchisee is allowing this and will call Corp in this soon. Also had fries in with my tots that I did not ask for like many people here have posted too. Foot long hot dog and tots were both cold and I wonder if the hotdog was even cooked thru? We were in the drive through for about half an hour, then got stuck because they decided half through at 4:00 pm that they were only taking cash and there was no way to get out of the line because we just spent all our cash at a fair.
