So after many months of wanting to try Sonic and waiting for it to come to Long Island after endless years of seeing their commercials on TV, we jumped in the car on a whim tonight and headed over. We decided to do the walk up window and eat outside. My fiance had the bacon cheeseburger, limeade, and tater tots, I had the Coney chili dog, tater tots and grape slushie!!!!!!!!!!! The hamburger was good, I was surprised that the limeade was carbonated but it was good and my hot dog was good too. The grape slushie tasted like a grape quarter water and I was digging it. The tater tots tasted liked the ones my mom used to make. It was good enough we went back for more this time my fiance got the Coney dog and I got the All American and we shared some mozzarella sticks. It was all good. I didn't care for the relish in the All American but I knew it was on their before I got it. Is the food amazing? No. Is it good and cheap for the price? You betcha ya. I felt like I was transported back to 1985. I live in Queens so this was a 40 minute drive for me but if I'm in the area I will go back. read more

The hamburgers here are delicious with fresh toppings and cooked just right. The lemon fruit slushy is amazing with some fresh berries tossed in. I liked the tater tots but they are really greasy and were soking through the bag. Definitely not heart healthy food here! read more

I don't normally comment on something unless I feel it is needed and this is one of those times. In the rain I went to the drive thru since every stall for the drive in was taken. The employee outside who is supposed to control traffic in some form wasn't, probably because he was stuck outside in the rain. When I placed my order I had to repeat and correct it 2 times for two different items. Even after that the order was still wrong but I said screw it since I was getting soaked with my window being open. Food was pretty good other than it not being what I wanted to order but I still enjoyed it. Only thing I would hope is management look into who takes the orders and see if they have a hearing problem or the electronic are because I am a pretty articulate human being, no bloviating intended. read more

Absolutely atrocious. The service I received by the staff and our carhop Benjamin and my shake were good which is why i put one star but the product I received was not what I asked for. I asked for a strawberry shake without whipped cream and I got my shake without a cherry. I did not say no cherry. The cherry makes the entire shake and I am so disappointed in Sonic. The hot dog I got there the first time was tasty, but drowned in catchup and mustard. The chocolate shake was just ok. So were the tater tots. Just ordinary. There are huge waits at this place and I'm not sure why. The staff are friendly, but walking up only to talk to somebody via a kiosk is a little off putting. Second visit to the drive in went better. It was quick. Philly Cheese Steak and fries were delicious. $8 was a little pricey, but it was tasty. We'll see what the third time brings. read more

Sonic offers Long Islanders the rare kitsch and novelty of driving in and having hot fast food delivered to you by workers in roller blades. If you're uptight about leaving a mess in your pristine car like my bf and I, there are several tables under an awning in which you can enjoy your meals outdoor. My bf and I didn't noticed a register where you can order on foot. We ordered at the drive through, got our food, parked out car, and then sat at a table. -#6 Combo- Hot Dog with large tater tots and large drink $5.49 Chicago Dog $0.30 The Chicago Dog was served in a soft, warm poppy seed bun and topped with pickle, relish, tomato, sport peppers, celery salt and mustard. The hot dog was good but the some of the toppings weren't my favorite. The relish was not good, you can tell it came from an industrial sized bin from the back of the Sonic kitchen. If you like relish and typically add it to your hot dog get this. If not, steer clear from the Chicago Dog and try something else. Tater tots were really addicting. They were crispy and yummy and I kept popping them in my mouth. -Mozarella Sticks with Marinara sauce $3.29 A perfectly good mozarella stick. Cheesy fried morsels that satisfy any mozarella stick craving. Yeppers, Yelpers, I'm reviewing a Sonic!! LOL.. When Sonic on DPA (Deer Park Avenue) first opened, the lines were beyond stupid. They have gotten better, though it is still heavily trafficked. The food is what you would expect, decent fast food. You don't come here to calorie count !!! I enjoy a tater tot every now and again and they reign supreme here, with a respectable chili and cheese topping if you like. I dig the Chicago dog with the poppy seed bun and the peppers , tomato, pickle topping. The shakes and the many beverage choices are stellar, including a wicked malted if you are in the mood. When this place opened up a few years ago, traffic on dpa was hell so I avoided the place like a plague. I was expecting bomb things from Sonic and it kinda fell a little short. Don't get me wrong the atmosphere is pretty pretty good. Shakes and Ice cream things were mad good. But I was sooo pumped for the pretzel dog and it was only like an 7/10 MAX. The dog was a little rubbery and the cheese was too congealed. I passed on the relish. Kinda not my style at all. Big Karl cooks a much better dog in the summer in the Centerport sun. Crispy bun, keeps it real simple but it's just so much more bomb than Sonic. My suspection is that they don't grill them. Only thing really good about Sonic's pretzel dog was there bun, which was fuego. I would deff buy the buns in packages. Introduced my boyfriend first time here. "Just take my money". Cherry limeade is A-M-Azimg. Chili cheese dog. Chicago dog. And chili cheese tots. Defiantly coming back with my family and friends.
