Worst experience ever at any fast food restaurant. 1. Firstly, the person who initiated our order could not comprehend our requested order. Another person had to take our order. 2. Secondly, we pull up to the window after waiting 5 minutes and have to wait another 15 minutes for our order after we paid - we had two drink orders. 3. Thirdly, I have attached the photos of what one worker was doing while we waited that 15 minutes in full view at the drive up window. 4. Tried to go through drive thru and the girl taking the order was the rudest little girl I have ever encountered and when I tried to call to speak to a manager it was her answering the phone as well and hung up. We had to leave after ordering, there was no other way to avoid a bigger confrontation. This location needs to be better and not allow such attitude for no reason. I visit this location often, and the food is good, the servers friendly and quick to resolve mistakes. My frustration and the reason for three stars is for whoever owns this location. The person taking orders often has a problem understanding the order because of the outdated speaker system. Also almost every visit, one or more of the parking slots' speaker is out of order. Whoever is in charge of training does not bother to show new hires the complete menu, not just what is on the marquee. There is an item I order frequently, that every time I order it, I have to tell the order taker that I just ordered it a day or two before and got it. This location is staffed mainly by high school students, and there seems to be a high rate of turnover. Hope the owner reads this and takes the actions required. I used the bathroom, which is a one staller, and the guy that I asked for the key was seriously going to open the door for another lady. Dude, what if my chones were down! estupido... Anywhoooo, I got lucky that I finished my business and was able to avoid that mess. My drink was pretty good though. I didn't want to buy any food because the kitchen looked dirty, but the 4 dessert drinks we got only cost about $12. Good deal. I can't believe I haven't posted a review for this Sonic yet! I'm definitely falling down in my duties! We very often stop at this Sonic on our way home. It often coincides with their "Happy Hour" which means a great deal on their drinks (half price!). I've had a bad cold this last weekend including a nasty sore throat and have talked my significant other into stopping at Sonic every day so I can get a nice cold Watermelon Slush. NOTHING feels quite as good on a sore throat as a Sonic Slush. Next time you're under the weather, get one! You won't be sorry! They have many other great things too. I'm rather fond of some of their new hot dogs, especially the Chicago Dog which is just plain delicious. Just yesterday, my husband saw they were offering sweet potato tater tots and he got as excited as I've ever seen him about it. I'm not a big sweet potato person, but he gobbled them up. I guess they were a hit! Their regular potato tater tots are also rather delicious and I can attest to that from personal experience. We stop in here ALL. THE. TIME. Mostly for drinks, sometimes for snacks, every now and then for lunch... we've even gotten desert here before (they used to have a $1 mini sundae that was the BOMB). I love Sonic and the only thing I would do different is have MORE of them in town. And, I gotta say, I love ordering from my car and not having to get out. The service here is always good and so much better than any other fast food place and they generally get it done right here. Today was one of many great Sonic excursions and we had good service where they gave us extra condiments like ranch, ketchup, and the special fry sauce...ahh...it's the little things in life. What an awesome selection of drinks, slushies, and shakes...well, except for that weird jalapeno chocolate thing....yech! Great happy hour and late evening deals too and it helps to get App or updates on your smart phone. I bring my kid here and we eat outside and people watch while eating ice cream and stuff from the cheapo menu: Tater tots, chicken sandwiches, grilled cheeses, milkshakes, etc... This is the place to get your fast comfort food on and then hate yourself for a day or so after! read more

I can't speak about the food but I can speak to Sonics excellent drink menu. They offer flavored teas and sodas, every kind of slush or limeade you could think of, 25 shake flavors, and so much more! When you are craving a good drink, this is a great place to try out because every drink is very customizable to your tastes. Take a few minutes and really look at the menu and don't be afraid to try something new, the drinks are pretty good! Sonic offers a unique atmosphere with the drive-in style. Waiters deliver food on roller skates and the atmosphere is very fun. I'll keep coming back for the mango unsweetened ice tea and maybe one day I'll get around to trying their food. read more

Atmosphere - As Sonics goes it is a small one, parking only on one side for the . It is difficult to get to if you are heading west on N. McCarran. Food Appetizer - none today. Main Course - The Sonic burger was just there, but the condiments were not spread around evenly. One bite I had was filled with mustard, as if it was all placed in one spot, gross it was way too much mustard, and I love a good mustard. I made the burger a combo and swapped the standard tater tots for the sweet potato tots, they charge you extra $1.50 vs the standard tots. The sweet potato tots are awesome but they should not cost any more than regular tots. Dessert - skipped it. Service - Wow really lacking here. I get that they were busy for a late lunch rush. But when I press my button, the light behind it turns on, all done before the before two cars next to me pull in and their orders are taken before mine that irritates me. The speaker system is so loud next to me I thought they were talking to me since the car next me was clearly after me, but nope it was for stall 4. You can blame that on the equipment. I pressed the button again after I could not hear any one talking and surprise surprise I got a person immediately. So why would the car hops not carry ketchup on them, they carry straws? Why not just put a few packs of ketchups in the bag? Future - slim chance. read more

Meh. Came here twice. The first time we got to the drive thru and after looking at the lackluster selection of burgers, we left for somewhere else. We did come back after dinner though for half price ice creams. They were pretty good but nothing spectacular. The fact that full-price would have been $6+ for a large milkshake is pretty ridiculous. Jack in the box milkshakes are comparable and cheaper. Tip: All of your candies/cookies in your shake/blast are at the bottom for some reason. Stir that shit up! read more

We have gone here MANY times. We especially love their Happy Hour (2-4 daily) when you can get all drinks, slushes, etc for 1/2 price and corn dogs are 99 cents. They have one of the best fresh brewed ice teas in a drive through setting in the whole area. I am extremely picky about my tea, because I don't use any sweetener or lemon at all. If it isn't great... there is no hiding it. I have never had a problem with Sonic ice tea. Today, the experience as a whole didn't go quite as well as usual, but it did end up on a higher note. Our server came out with the incorrect drink: We ordered a Frozen Lemonade with Blue Raspberry and Nerds. He very rudely said that he took our order and he KNOWS that I ordered a limeade (the rest was correct). I said that no, I didn't and I would never order it with limeade. I didn't mention that my son with Asperger's would make sure of it. ;) It's all about routine with him and he also listens closely to make sure that I get it exactly right, because I have a tendency to forget the nerds.... but anyway..... By this time, the guy's eyes were practically rolling out of his head at me repeatedly. I then said that it probably didn't help that he kept talking over me while I was ordering (actually now, too, but I didn't say that), but either way we really need that to be with the frozen lemonade. He comes back out and is extremely short with me as he pushes it towards me and gives me my change all the while mumbling something. I calmly told him that it would really help if he didn't argue with customers. As I tried to hand him his tip, he refused it. I got ready to leave and then thought about it. I have NEVER received service like this here at this Sonic (or any really). I called back in and said that I needed to talk to a manager. He said that it would be a few minutes because he had to take some more orders. At first, I thought maybe it had been the same guy and he was going to ignore me until I went away. Quite a while later, the manager comes out and is apologizing for taking so long. I told him what all happened and how I have never received this sort of service here before. That I really thought that he should know so it doesn't continue and bring down the business, etc. He told me how he uses this type of thing as a learning opportunity and has a coaching session. I agreed that this would be great and that I was impressed with this style and all. Carlos, the manager, handled everything wonderfully and I am sure that this will be used in a positive way for this employee and the restaurant. So yes, I will be returning. I hope to see my server again on a better day. (I know his name, but will not use it here.) And I know that they have a great manager. read more

Initially I was going to go through the drive up window but their parking lot doesn't allow for a fair placement in line. You have to jockey for position and it creates anxiety. I recommend going into the stalls and have a car hop help you. It's faster, you don't waste fuel and you help a young person with a tip! They deserve it. As far as the grub goes... A+. These burgers are not in the same realm as your average "fast food chain". Excellent burgers. Fresh and flavorful ingredients. Shakes are amazing. If your needing a sugar rush the slushies are amazing. Love the tater tots. Highly recommend this location but avoid that drive through. read more

Terrible experience tonight. Totaling ignored at drive thru speaker. I finally just drove up to the window. I saw at least 6 or 8 people inside standing around , one was on their phone, a couple were just drinking a soda , several just wandering around. In the meantime the person at the window stated they only had one person taking orders for all the outside stalls and the drive thru so that was another excuse. Maybe one or two of the people doing nothing should have stepped in and taken orders He said he would take my order, I gave him the menu number and he asked me what was the food in that menu number!!! You've got to be kidding. Aren't you an employee? In the meantime the 3 cars behind me were getting their orders hand delivered to them. So then I was told their soda machine was broken and I had to make another choice. So I chose unsweetened ice tea. I flipping waited another 10 minutes and had to honk my horn to get my drink. The absolutely worst service and no care from anyone at all. I've never ever seen such incompetence and lack of urgency. No one knows customer service at this location. This Sonic in Reno is the most I frequent to. I'm not a fan of fast food and try to avoid it as much as possible, but sometimes they'll release something I can't resist and all of a sudden I'm going there once a week LOL! In this case, Sonic released an espresso milkshake last November that I just absolutely MUST TRY!!! It is freaking delicious and every time I crave for it I try to get something else to try from the menu. Of all the times that I've have visited this location, there were only twice that I was left unsatifactory. The first time was waiting for 20mins for our mobile order to be ready, only to find out that it wasn't even on their radar so it was never made--UGH. The second time was I ordered 2X spicy chicken slinger and one came as regular. Overall, it is good. I've only used the drive-thru once and it was a pleasant experience--99% of time we will order via mobile then pickup to-go. read more

I love sonic, the app is great, half price drinks all day is amazing. I came in with my wife to get some ice cream 2 nights ago and the first problem was the drive thru line blocking every open stall. By the time we got to a stall and ordered the line was longer and we were blocked in for 20 minutes. There is no space for the drive thru and the order stalls. We each got a blast and shortly after getting the ice cream we started noticing a gross rotten smell. We just assumed it was maybe some trash in my car or something outside in the bushes. After we left sonic and were still smelling death we smelled the cups that our ice cream was in. Yep. Smelled like nasty ripe mold and rotten milk. Obviously the ice cream machine is not getting cleaned. I've never had this problem at the other locations so I will be going to those. read more

They were super busy but busting those orders out. I thought great! Fast and convenient. So pulled up ordered my oreo blast. Asked for extra oreos and whipped. Boom! Less than 5 minutes it came out. I was even more excited when I saw that it had nice chunks of oreos on the top and the whip cream. Yummy. Well, my son and I are and about half way down the both of our blasts was only vanilla ice cream. No more cookies. That's why they got out so fast. They are rushing and not doing a good job. I convinced my wife to drive across town so I could have a hot fudge milkshake. I don't know what has happened since I got one of these last but it was not nearly as good as it used to be. First off, there was entirely too much whipped cream on the top of the shake and it did not taste good. Secondly, there was very little hot fudge in my hot fudge milkshake. Third, the service was beyond slow. We waited almost 15 minutes for my milkshake and my wife's blast. We were the only car in the entire drive thru! This visit was a complete disappointment and I won't be making the mistake of driving across town to have another awful visit. read more

For me, Sonic holds an air of mystery about it. I've lived in LA and now SF, always seen ads on TV for it, yet the only times I see an actual Sonic establishment are not in local driving, but on road-trips. So given that rarity, I'm inclined to hold this place in a higher regard than one really should. I'm told there is a Sonic in Anaheim and even round the San Fernando Valley in LA - I have yet to see them. This is my second time eating at this chain. The first was years ago in New Mexico. Anyway, the novelty of pulling into a spot outside the building and having your food brought out to you on roller-skates is still fresh to me. Is this how they did things in the 50s? I sure missed out on the era of drive-ins. The menu strikes one as the "I'm gonna murder your arteries slowly" type. But I realize you don't go to Sonic looking for a healthy bite to eat. So it's with that oh-so cavalier attitude I ordered a Cheeseburger combo meal. Service was pretty quick. It felt strange to be eating at the fast-food joint in parked car. I'm used to go-go-go and drive thrus, this seemed so...inefficient? Oh well. The burger was better than I expected. It didn't look like the slop handed out at McDonalds or Carl's Jr (speaking strictly appearance-wise), so it scores well in presentation. It delivers a pretty good taste too. Good job, Sonic. The fries, however, were nothing special - not bad, not great. A note to the Sonic mascot guy we ran into yesterday - way to be a good sport enduring the desert heat and photo ops. Sonic is GREAT! No matter what your in the mood for Sonic has something that will catch your attention and fill up the belly! I've been eating at Sonic my whole life and never get enough of their foot long chili cheese coney's (be sure to add onions and mustard and if you dare jalapenos) Then get a HUGE sack of the to-die- for onion rings or a cradle full of chili cheese tator tots! YUM! Everything here is good - but make sure you come for Happy Hour when their fruity slushy drinks are cheap! Also you have to at least once experience a sonic strawberry shake with real pieces of strawberries... Amazingly good - worth the drive ALLLL the way across town for me to indulge! I finally ate a burger from Sonic! There aren't any in the SF Bay Area (at least I don't think so)- Always see the commercials on tv. After partying at the Atlantis we were on our way back to the house and I had a cravin for a burger - LOOK a SONIC! You pull up to a parking spot and there is a menu board, when you're ready press a button and someone will take your order. I ordered a regular combo meal -burger w/cheese, med fries & an ice tea w/lemon.... wife wasn't hungry. The order was brought out to us and you eat in your car, just like in the '50s - I was hoping to get the food delivered by someone in rollerskates - not. It was late & about 25 degrees. The burger was delicious! Maybe cause I was drunk so everything tastes great! Seriously it was pretty good - I forgot to tell them no pickles, I hate pickles. Will return. read more

After living in the Midwest for a couple of years, I became dependent on Sonic's tots. It's bad, it's an addiction. They're just so good. The burgers are ok, the hot dogs are pretty good... But the tots? Oh, the tots. Little golden, salty, crunchy pieces of heaven. However. There's always a however, isn't there? The milkshakes SUCK. They're basically terrible. And like a moron, I keep trying different ones, expecting a different outcome. No. Stop. They're bad. They taste like artificial flavoring and even the whipped cream has a weird, fake taste. Just gross. DEFINITELY do not get anything cheesecake flavored. Tastes like sour milk. My son got a strawberry cheesecake milkshake and thought it tasted funny so I tasted it and physically gagged. So. Awful. The blasts are also not great. If you simply must have your sweet fix, get a slush. Those are good. And the cream slushes are good too. Oh, and cherry limeade is good too. Setting: 1st thing...I need to say FINALLY a Sonic I can eat at. We don't have this in the SF Bay Area, but for some weird reason we always see the commercials for it. Sonic is a fun-time kind of fast food place. Classic drive-in style, where you park your car in a stall, order food thru a speaker, then a guy/gal in roller skates (nowadays inline) brings out your food. Fun fun fun! Food: Yum!!!!! I had the jalapeno cheeseburger, and it was awesome. I dunno, whenever I order anything with jalapeno in a fast food joint, they're never spicy (save Taco Bell, theirs is legit hotttt). Sonic's jalapeno burger is not only tasty, but hotttttttttt. You will definitely need a Coke or a Sonic blast to cool your mouth down. Service: Just coolness.
