This is not your average burger joint. I came in for lunch one day, and I got the Oreo shake with the chicken sandwich and fries. The chicken and fries were perfectly crispy. The shake was nice and thick and the ranch was homemade. It was definitely a messy lunch, but it was worth it. They have a good variety of entrees on their menu. From burgers to grilled cheese to salads. I'm excited to come back and try everything else on the menu.

    Great decor and great staff!

Finally made it here after wanting to come by since they first opened. My hubby and I had a great lunch of burgers, fries and a shake. We ordered the classic cheeseburger and were truly impressed because it was flavorful. It was a fresh and good burger! Fries were also freshly fried and spot on of what good fries should taste like--very potatoey. And then I really loved the strawberry shake topped with whipped cream! The counter service was friendly, caring and attentive. The decor inside was very comfortable and pleasant. Loved the open windows and the counter seating at the windows. We'll be back when craving a delicious huger, fries and shake meal!

Barely flew in and retrieved the rental before our little one says, "I'm hungry. I want fries." Visiting Reno several years ago, we are not too familiar with the area. It's not our destination, but figured we'd find food close by before driving a distance. On my search, I found Ruby's Shake Shop. Fries looked crispy and fresh in the photos and it was less than a ten minute drive from the airport. It's visible from the street with no parking lot. Street parking is available in the front. To its left is 7 eleven with 4 very tight parking spots closer to Ruby's. We parked there. The interior is bright, clean and spacious with bar window seating, booth style seating and two-person tables. The menu board is well organized, bright, visible and easy to locate items. You can skip the line and order ahead with the QR at the entrance. We ordered for dine in. With an order of regular fries ($3.99), an impossible burger combo ($15.98) with a shake upgrade ($3.99) plus added grilled onions ($.99) and mushrooms ($.99) and a hickory burger ($12.99) our total was a few cents over $42. With the portion sizes, quality of our meals and level of service, it was well worth the price. Our daughter's fries could feed two people, each of our burgers were perfectly cooked, juicy smash burgers larger than the brioche bun they filled. and the chocolate chip cookie dough shake was thick, creamy and tasted like something grandma would make (not artificial vanilla liquified milk substance). The portion size for the shake is shareable, especially combined with the seismic burger and fries portions. Definitely would be a repeat customer if we lived nearby.

I wish this was around when I was still in college. I love the open air concept of the restaurant because it allows for some views of campus and for some people watching. But of course I came here for the shakes. We got the s'mores and chocolate shake. Don't let the pictures fool you, they're a lot bigger in person. They were thick and not overly sweet, which is important for me so I don't get tired of it. We also go the southern fried chicken sandwich and the super burger combo. Both were juicy and warm, definitely made fresh to order. The fries weren't too special but I suppose that's why they have the chili fries. I will say that because of this is in prime location (nearby campus) it is on the pricier side. So I think that's why they would deter most college students. Otherwise great place!

Food: If you want a delicious, greasy cheeseburger, french fries and an impeccable shake with spot is for you. My husband and I stopped in for some quick and delicious food before getting on the road to drive back to the Bay. I had the cheeseburger and subbed cheddar cheese for the American cheese. The burger was hot and fresh and de-li-cious! The fries were hot and crispy on the outside yet tender on the inside. The fries were slightly small than steak fries which allowed them to hold heat longer and not to get cold to quickly. Now the star of the show was my strawberry shake. It was rich, thick and creamy and topped with whipped cream. While my burger was great they also featured hot dogs, salads, chicken tenders, onion rings and chili cheese tots and fries. The menu is varied yet specific to an old school burger joint. Ambiance: The decor is clean and modernized while decorated in primary colors and bright red. Service: The cashier was pleasant and helpful and they food was served quickly. I was the first person in the door when they opened and they happily greeted and served us. Parking: Parking is tough. There is little parking on the street and most of the other parking near belongs to other businesses. It was a Sunday and we parked across the street in the post office parking lot. Overall: Yep, this spot is a great place to visit when in need of a good burger and shake. Run dont walk and get this in your life.

A few weeks ago, my family decided to finally try Ruby's. I only got a picture of my salad, but we also had burgers, tater tots, and milkshakes. The milkshakes were the Orange 50/50 and absolutely wonderful! Thick, creamy, and delicious! The salad was crunchy and big! Fresh ingredients and great toast! I was told the burgers and tots were just like homemade. We plan to order again and try some other items.

Recently up in Sparks/Reno we had a sweet tooth for a malt and shake - we located the Ruby's Shake Shop by the UNR campus and stopped in. The seasonal Pumpkin Spice shake was creamy, pumpkin deliciousness, a definite fall favorite!! The hubby got adventurous with a malt mixture of chocolate && pumpkin spice ~ it was the perfect combination!! We also tried the Cajun fries which were crispy hot and flavorful - perfect for dipping in my shake. Service was as GREAT as our tasty options. We were greeted as soon as we entered with a warm hello, welcome in and the gal at the counter gave us helpful recommendations and even brought our order out to the table. The shop inside was inviting, spotless with a menu that was visible with tempting options that you could see when you came inside. We loved the open windows to watch outside as people strolled by with bar style seating to have a sidewalk view. Can't wait to return and try more shakes & snacks - highly recommend this spot whether you're on campus or just in the area!!

Stopped by on a whim. Sadly burger buns were greasy and burgers were on the saltier side. Food and drink overall are on the pricier side in my opinion. Good location for unr college students. Service is fast and restaurant is clean.

This review is for the shakes. I was craving a shake and found this place and stopped. In talking to the workers I found out you could mix flavors so I tried coffee with butterfinger. Was perfect, not too sweet and just the perfect shake! Wish we had a Ruby's at home! This will be a stop when visiting Reno. Delicious shake!

On a whim, we decided to go to Ruby's Shake Shop and I am so glad we did! My husband and I were doing our usual where do you want to go routine when I said, "how about Ruby's Shake Shop?" Well, that got his attention quickly! FYI, the parking sucks but once you get inside, the place is incredible! First off, Ruby's is so clean and inviting! The owner was there assisting the staff and has an amazing personality. The selection of food is great if you're not on a diet:) We both had burgers (I really wanted a hotdog but it gives me a reason to come back!), I had the combo with a side of onion rings and a chocolate shake and my partner in crime had a bacon cheeseburger. All, of which were excellent! My only complaint, too much food! Lol We paid $33 for two large, fresh cheese burgers with onion rings and a shake. We could have found that price for a stale burger with reconstituted onion rings at a greasy, fast food joint. Kudos to Ruby's for making our day!

I was really surprised at how good this place is.. Didn't know what to expect when I walked in. Had never tried them before or heard of them till they opened here. The burgers have good flavor , juicy and good portions! For being on the smash burger side they aren't dry and the bacon..the bacon is very good..good flavor and not cheap tasting or super fake tasting. Good thickness for a casual fast food restaurant. Not dollar store like.they have cheddar cheese here!! Over the mood about that.. They have tater tots and i was happy to see that. They are crispy and good. a little over seasoned/salty at times though.. onions are pretty good.. kinda average but not bad.. but their ranch is awesome! Lol.. The staff is always nice when I go.there is a older gentleman that works there who explained how they make/cook the burgers and food and was just so nice.. and the place is always clean and stocked up.. They have other things I want to try and cant wait to do so..

I have been waiting to try Ruby's! I managed to snag a parking spot around 2pm on a Saturday (on graduation weekend), so the visit started out well. There are lots of items to choose from on the menu, from burgers to sandwiches, chicken, plenty of sides and of course many shakes. The customer service was great before and throughout my meal. The restaurant was very clean and tidy with pleasant background music. I ordered the Classic with fries and an Oreo shake. I was happy to see they offered a combo since I didn't remember seeing it online. The whole meal came out to about $18 as the shake was an up charge. The burger was solid, nothing special, definitely something you'd see from most chain burger spots. Next time, I'll try one of the specialty burgers or chicken just to try something new. I was more than pleasantly surprised at the portion. There were so many fries I never would've been able to finish them all in addition to the burger. I believe the combo comes with a sauce on the side and I chose ranch. It was so good and tasted homemade. The milkshake was the star of the show! So thick it comes with a large straw and needs to melt slightly before you can use the straw. It had a nice blend or small and large Oreo chunks and I love a chunky Oreo milkshake. I would come back for a shake alone. Overall, be prepared for a large amount of food should you choose a combo and a shake. I'd recommend getting the shake at the end of the meal and taking it home (it'll survive the trip!), as eating everything other (like I did) will send you into a food combo.

I'm still going down a long list of burger places to compare. Beefy's is my 5th place to try…read more Local spot with character and plenty of seating inside and out with the combo of bar+bus+picnic tables. Lots of fans including mist fan outside to fight the heat. Bus feels spacious but seating is a bit cramped with tiny metal bench seats. Lots of other options other than burgers (hot dogs, chicken, etc) but come on, what's the name of the place? Service was fast, about 15 minutes to get our burgers but the place was near empty on a weekday mid afternoon after the typical lunch period. Insider tip I got: If the place is even 1/3rd full, be prepared for a long wait (minimum half hour?) I noticed quite a few reviews mentioned the prices were high. And when I got the bill for $60 for two people with tax and tip I might have agreed, at first, especially if my main repeat burger joints were In-n-out/Wendy's/Jack-n-Box. But comparing to those places is not apples-to-apples. It's 1/3 lbs patties here (70% more than the just below 1/4 lbs of meat you get on a Double Double) and quite a step up in meat quality from those chains. About $16+ for single patty burger and $20+ for double, but that also includes fries and a drink. I get the feeling people complaining about the prices have to be burger addicts with the review perspective of a frequent In-n-Out patron which allows getting your "fix" more frequently on the average budget. I would prefer if I could opt-out of the full meal deal for a lesser price and just get a burger. If you get a beer, the included soft drink is redundant or unnecessary. And some may prefer to focus on the protein without additional carbs/calories from the fries. But granted this isn't a place to be counting calories. Burger is high quality all around and they cooked them actually medium rare as ordered. Many places don't give a cook temp option or still overcook. Fries were great, better than the freezer burnt airy texture of In-n-Out. My only criticism is both the fries and the patty had too much salt but not to an inedible point. A common occurrence though given the cook's and/or typical frequent fast food eater's salt-desensitized palate. So Beefy's ties at #2 with The Parlor sitting between my #1 Royce and #3 Archie's, then #4 Juicy's. Armando & Sons and Barrio Burger are next.

For starters, the food is decent…read more With that said, if you advertise Happy Hour prices, they should be honored. I went specifically for the Happy Hour wings, and when I received the check, the price didn't reflect the amount stated on the menu. I asked to speak with the owner, and instead of correcting it, she told me she gave me a quarter off and, with a smug smile, said, "Thank you very much." Sorry, lady, but your food isn't that great for you to be so confidently rude. In addition, this was my second visit this week. I only returned because my sister loves chicken wings, and because of the advertised "Happy Hour" price, I decided to give them another try. We also ordered a plain burger to go with just cheese, and when I got home, it was loaded with all the fixings, including sauce. I called several times to have the issue addressed, but no one answered. When I told the servers about the situation during this visit, instead of trying to make it right, they gave me a half-hearted apology. So yes, the food might be diner decent, but the owner's attitude and the poor service make the entire experience worse. I've worked in customer service for over 30 years, and not once have I treated a paying customer the way I was just treated. And if they want to respond to this review to justify their shitty service, great. Go for it. I was polite the entire time. All I asked was to be heard, for their advertised pricing to be honored, and for some basic appreciation for my business by simply making things right. Instead, the owner insultingly put two quarters on the table, as if 50 cents somehow made up for the $8-$9 difference we were being overcharged. It didn't. If anything, it made an already frustrating situation feel even more dismissive. And it really was an easy fix. If they couldn't adjust the Happy Hour pricing for whatever reason, she could have easily taken the $18 pastrami sandwich off the bill to make up for both the pricing discrepancy and the incorrect order we received during our previous visit just two days earlier. I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable. I was asking for an owner to recognize that her restaurant had made mistakes on two separate visits and make a genuine effort to correct them. In a city full of burger options, she had an opportunity to turn a negative experience into a positive one and potentially make lasting customers out of my family and me. Instead, she chose to be dismissive, smug, and rude over something that could have been resolved in a matter of minutes. That tells me everything I need to know about how she values her customers.

We ordered the Imperial Japanese Chicken Wings, the Frenchified Burger, and an order of poutine. The star of the meal was the chicken wings with the wasabi ranch dipping sauce. The seasoned shoestring fries served alongside were also excellent. The burger was very good, but it was essentially meat, sauce, and cheese. I like a little freshness on my burgers, so I was missing some lettuce and tomato. Fortunately, I substituted a salad for the fries and ended up piling most of it onto the burger. Next time, I'll just ask for those toppings to be added. The poutine, however, didn't quite live up to the versions I've had elsewhere. I'm not sure if they used white cheddar curds, but they were almost completely melted instead of retaining that signature squeaky texture. The gravy was just okay, and I don't think shoestring fries are the best choice for poutine since they don't hold up as well under the toppings. Overall, I'd definitely come back--especially for the wings and another burger.

Wow. If you find yourself in Reno, jonesing for a burger, Archie's is the place to go. We aren't…read moreresidents, but come up the hill a few times a year for various events. Until this 4th of July weekend (250/2026) we had never heard of Archie's. It was recommended to us and we stopped in on Sunday the 5th for lunch on our way out of town. What an amazing choice. I ordered their bacon cheese burger. Guess what? It was GIANT. It was delicious. It was perfect. Comes with fries but I got onion rings. The onion rings were perfect too. Largest order of rings I have ever seen. The burger (1/2 Lb I think!!) had nice thick bacon in every bite, two large and fresh slices of tomato, a big old slab of an onion slice, mayo and lettuce. I can't remember if there were pickles. It was the best burger and onion rings I have eaten in at least ten years, maybe 20. We will be back, EVERY time we are in town from now on. I can't recommend this place enough. Special shout out to David, our server. This guy made no mistakes. Laughed at all my stupid dad jokes, was attentive, patient while my companions changed their minds 36 times, and was friendly too. Says it was only his 2nd day on the job, but I wish he had been working for us at our restaurant (Hokkaido Noodle House) in Sacramento. He is a pro already, give him reasons to keep working for you boss. Don't worry, we won't steal him from you, we are retired and closed our joint 10 years ago. Rock on Archie's! You have earned a few new fans today.

Was surprised it had a second floor with a small deck and pretty decent views! Big place. Great Happy Hour Deals (half off drinks) and other specials. I haven't eaten breakfast there but the burger I'd put in the top 4 in Reno. It is giant diameter wise but the meat is the same amount of a smaller thicker burger which makes it no too hard to eat. I'd call this a Purist's Burger. Crisp lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, mustard, sauce. They went really light on the sauce to the point I didn't think it had any. Fries were excellent too. Price is very reasonable (that's typical near a college.) I've tried Royce, Juicy's, and The Parlor. I'd put Archies below Royce and Parlor but above Juicy's. Two left on my list are Armando & Son's Butcher Shop and of course Beefy's.

Not only was the food amazing but the customer service was awesome. I had a super nice man (I wish I got his name) help at the register and he was great with helping with some good suggestions. He also checked in to see how it was later. One things for sure I will definitely be back!!!

So I decided to give it a try. My husband and I were there for lunch. Upon walking into the store it is just so light and bright and open. The presentation of meats and seafood are displayed so beautifully. The menu for fresh food cooked right off the grill was right next to the cash register. My husband went with the bison, barbecue burger, and a side of fries, and I had the original burger with my choice of cheeses. Everything was prepared and served hot and fresh! We were offered ranch to go with our fries. I had a house made thousands island type sauce (but way better) to go on my cheeseburger. It was delicious. I asked one of the employees (Sarah) what was in it. She was very pleasant to talk to and very knowledgeable about all of their house made sauces. I told her that I loved the garlic in the Thousands island style sauce so she gave me a sample of their garlic aioli sauce! If you are a garlicholic like me, this is a must try!! Chefs kiss, for sure! I cannot recommend this location enough! When in Reno, it's a must try! If you go, tell Sarah her perimenopause, Indiana, garlic loving friend said hello!

This restaurant is my family and I's restaurant-to-go to for good burgers and also late night cravings. Unfortunately, they released a new rules, and kids are no longer allowed to dine-in their restaurant, specifically less than 21 year old. So you've been warned guys, this restaurant is no longer a family-friendly place. I'm not coming back here if they restrict people or choose people who can eat. They can just have a space for non-smokers and drinkers. So no, I'm not coming back here, and don't waste your time coming there if you have a toddler or teenager with you. The service is always good, and the staffs are always friendly and accommodating. It just too bad that we cannot dine-in there if we have the kids with us. I hope they reconsider or put a designated drinking area for gamblers/alcohol drinkers.
