Sonic of Somerset is a much-needed breath of fresh air for the area.The closest Sonics to the southcoast area (besides this one) are in the far end of Rhode Island and on the other side of Boston. Area residents can atest that for years we have been badgered with commercials for Sonic with no hope of ever getting to eat their food unless we traveled somewhere that had one. Now that Sonic has expanded its' roller skate-clad empire to the Northeast we can rest easy knowing slushes and cinnabursts are only a short drive away. Sonic of Somerset has a cute set-up. There is a surpirisingly hip looking dining room and the carports offer a nice alternative for folks who don't feel like sitting down to a meal but don't want to rush through a drive-thru to order their food either. We ate inside during their "Facebook Event" and watched as the traffic out front grew to a massive line on Route Six. We parked at the Home Depot and walked over to eat inside and while the crazy rush continues for the first few weeks it's open you might have to do the same. Good burgers, fries, mozzerela sticks, and treats all around. The splenda-flavor shot slushies do not have that awful "fake sugar" taste to them and offer the rare (at Sonic) low-calorie treat. My only complaint is that the menu lacks healthy options, like salads. More vegetables would liven up the menu but if you're feeling like eating typical fast food this is the best the area has to offer. read more

Ok look...I get it. And if you are going to have a good experience here too, you have to "get it". I will be the first to say that I am dazzled by the bright colors and the speakers at every stall. If I was with anyone else other than my mother (hence in a good mood), I would be squealing with delight at the sound of roller skates coming towards us. My mother however, does not "get it". And therefore that put me in a bad mood. My mother complained that upon first eating her chicken it was tasteless. I sat there holding a literally soggy grilled cheese telling her that this was still fast food after all. She complained that the bellhop didn't bring out napkins or ketchup, and I actually had to agree with her there. Bottom line is "get it". I knew coming here that the food would be terrible. That's not the point. You go for the show! I can get bad fast food anywhere, but do they have roller skates and slushies (which by the way I haven't tried a slush yet, which is funny because I sell them for a living)? Do they have cheese sauce on tater tots? DO THEY HAVE EGGNOGG SHAKES? I think not! None of these things you would willingly put into your body if you were home, but together...well together...they make up sonic! p.s. The eggnogg oreo shake was decent, but next time I am going to skip on the whipped cream, the likes of which is certainly not made from any cream I have had. read more

My husband and I went to Sonic in Somerset, MA one week ago. We used the drive thru as all the stations were full. We placed our order and waited in line. An employee came out with our food as we were still waiting in a line of cars and asked for payment. We have her our debit card and she said she would be right back. She went inside, came back out with other orders for other vehicles. We noticed she handed a paper to the vehicle in front of us and heard her ask for them to write their name and phone number on it??? We we're still waiting for our debit card and receipt from her. She never once came back with our card or receipt, we had to wait in line until we got up to the window where another employee was asking us for payment!!! We told the employee at the window we already gave the other girl our card and are still waiting for it back with the receipt. She then told us there was a mix up with a few debit cards and they "didn't have it". We asked where it was and they said they didn't know??! She asked us to write our name and phone number on a paper and they would call us if they found it!! In the meantime if the employee that took our card didn't know what happened to it she should have just told us so we could have called and canceled the card immediately, but she didn't have the decency to even come back to our car to tell us of the mix up. Also, why is Sonic letting employees come out with the food and ask for payment without a credit/debit card machine to run the payment through right in front of the customer?!!! That is very very very poor service. I called corporate two times this past week to discuss this matter and I'm still waiting for a call back! Now I know why we got such poor service at the branch in Somerset, MA, if we can't get corporate to call us back how do they have any competent employees???! I will NEVER go back to Sonic and I've warned everyone I know about them. For all I know, an employee may be stealing the debit cards!!! read more

Food is ok. Nothing special about burgers. Shakes are great at happy hour that's really about it.

Have yet to be disappointed but are multiple trips to sonic. We've tried multiple items on the menu and everything is been better than average for a fast food chain. Big fan of the chocolate shakes and popcorn chicken. read more

I came here at about 11pm. I used a drive up speaker and the service was very fast. The burgers were made to order and very hot. The shakes were delicious and thick. The loaded tots were delicious as well. It only cost $16 for 2 people to eat, I will definitely be back when I am in the mood for something quick and cheap. read more

So i was totally looking forward to trying sonic, seeing we always see the commercials but never had one close. Visited the new one in somerset and was very disappointed. The atmosphere was cute as far as the drive up idea. Although the space was so small that it made it tough to fully read the menu, as well as enjoy the quick rollerskating waiters. I ordered a shake, which was simple vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup..i could have made that at home. A mozzarella stick..eh nothing major..and a double hamburger . Burger was greasy which ok not too bad i can deal with that, size of the burger was very good, bigger than your average quick fast food place. However, it was all good until i lifted the burger to my mouth for a bite and got a fowl odor! Completely turned my stomach, i have no idea what it was but it was gross. This was a decent fast food restaurant. I mean it's not as common as McDonalds or Burger King. But it is very original. It has a very classy design, do to looks. The service is a little more slower then most fast food restaurants. But they apologised for the wait, and gave us a free shake. It is cool how they deliver the food to you on roller skates. The food was average. The burger was cold. The fries were decently warm. The mozzarella sticks were very flavorful, hot, and well seasoned. I love the marinara sauce. If it were possible to give ZERO stars, I would!!!!! This is my first time trying Sonic. My kids and I were very excited to give a try. We ordered a few of everything: cheeseburgers, corn dogs, tater tots, fries, frozen lemonades, & slushees. The food was inedible!!!! This has to be the worst food I have ever eaten. I can't believe they charge for this! Think of the worst school cafeteria meal you have ever eaten, thrown in the microwave, and served through a drive-thru. That is Sonic! Went for the first time yesterday. Got a bunch of different things to try. Got a cranberry limeade and it was delicious! Shake was good and thick too, service was fast and friendly and everything was super clean. The food unfortunately, did not really taste that great and it wasn't hot. My first time to Sonic, finally and I have to say that I am very impressed with the food and service. We placed our order and not even 5 minutes after taking our seats, our food arrived. The cheeseburger was excellent! The fries were hot and crispy. The Philly cheese steak was the real deal. The chili cheese cony dog was really good. The oreo shake I tried was very tasty and filling. I would honestly avoid this place at all costs. The location is far too small to deal with the traffic that a Sonic brings in, and it results in a frustrating experience. One of their drive thrus doesn't work, even though there's no sign, you only find out once you've been waiting in line for 15 minutes, and there's literally no place to go except out. If you're lucky enough to get a bay, expect them to hear your order wrong, and even when they hear it correctly, your order will be wrong when it gets to you. Okay, I really tried. Went there with the hubbie this past Saturday afternoon for a quick bite. Found a car port and ordered two Sonic boom boxes. The order came out promptly and correct EXCEPT: my burger was missing a good portion of the meat AND there was no burger at all in my husband's sandwich! That's right - there was a bun, cheese, pickles, and onion, but no meat. They came out quickly enough with a new burger (with meat this time), but the damage was done. I was the only car in the drive thru and I waited 20 mins at the window for a sundae and popcorn chicken. After they asked what kind of sauce I wanted they still didn't give me any. Love this chain! By far the best fast food chain ever! And we need more diversity in our area! Burgers are awesome but be aware that these burgers are meant to be eaten soon after ordering. Unlike the other fast food places Sonic uses great fresh ingredients and when you mix the hot of the burger with the cold of your veggies and condiments you need to consume it when served NOT take it home it's not that kind of fast food;). Food is not bad however I've had better. I go to the sonic in Florida when I'm on vacation in Titusville. Compared this one had no sense of direction. The hoppers who bring the food are cheerful. But wait time is very long. For fast food it's supposed to be quicker not 20-30 minutes. I waited over 45 minutes just to order. Place needs better organization skills with regards to how they knew people would act for a sonic in this area. Food wasn't hot when it came out and was very sloppy. I've had better. The ones in Florida were great super hot fresh but not burning hot food and pleasant people who were there with a smile on your face. My 4 year old acts better then some of the scum I have seen here waiting in line with my husband 2 hours the trip took. It's fast food dammit not a gormet meal. First impression of a Sonic shake: I got a Dulce de leche, it was so thick I had to actually use some force to push the straw in, and then nearly popped a lung trying get my first taste (which ironically is what I think is a criteria for a good shake, lol). The shake, what I've managed to sample so far, is pretty good. Better than anything else around here, but not worth taking a drive to Sonic just to get - i.e. if you're in the area and can spare 10min or so in a drive through line, then it's worthy. read more

After seeing all the commercials on tv, I finally gave in to the hype, and tried them. The burgers were no better quality than what you would get if you went to McDonald's, but at an inflated price. Tater tots were cold. The only thing that saved this review from being 1 star is the halfway decent milkshake (at least it was made with real ice cream). Don't waste your money! Normally I'd give a 4 star for all the good experiences here. Ive been to this Sonic many times since it opened. And for the most part I've always been pretty pleased with the experience. The shakes and ice cream are the best, either on par with or even better than DQ Blizzards. I've always gone at night around 8:30 at night or later.and usually go inside. And the wait isn't too bad usually. Maybe a little more than 5 minutes for the ice cream. Drive thru is longer since there's usually a few cars in line. For all other visits I'd give 4 stars. But for this last one. I went late around 12:15 am this morning. No cars ahead of me. The inside was closed. I waited over a minute to get my order taken at the drive thru. And then waited about 15 minutes at the window. All I ordered was a medium vanilla shake and a medium reeses blast. It was absurdly ridiculous. I could see and hear the workers joking around and laughing inside. There was no reason to take 15 minutes for my order. read more
