We haven't been to Sonic in years; our first visit in Colorado was awful. Today we decided after 6 years to try Sonic in Tracy hoping for a better experience. We ordered corn dogs, tots, rings and shakes. The tots, dogs and rings were all raw ! The shakes had been premade and frozen solid, nasty. How in the world can a place screw up fried foods so bad?! Stop on Route to the Bay Area at Sonic for a quick milkshake. Three milkshake for $18 but they're very nicely made. At 3:30 on Sunday the drive-thru with excessively long but it was quicker and more convenient to pull into the Shaded parking where they have car delivery. The typical combo meal burger fries and a soda small just under $14 per person. Areas for improvement the delivered product looks nothing like the picture displayed. I'm here now just ordered food, I ordered a lime slushy, I was brought a lemon one. I told the woman who delivered it...then I look at the receipt and it says lime. I wish I hadn't added a tip when I was charged...last time I make that mistake. Anyway my advise...don't tip until you get what you ordered! Very disappointing! read more

Such a long wait!!!! Waiting for like 30 minutes to order and another 30 min. To get our food.. ridiculous!!! This place sucks!!!

Let me say that my stars are not a representative of the Slushes or the customer service that I have received. My two stars are because the food is horrible to me. The only decent thing that I have eaten at Sonic has been their chili cheese dog with onions yum. I do not like their french fries, their nuggets, or burgers. Every time I've gotten a burger or chicken sandwich the bread has been extremely dry and I am always left with the feeling and thought that I can re-create this meal at home for cheaper and it will be tastier. My favorite thing to order at Sonic is their slushes and I have driven 30 to 45 minutes (depending if some slow poke is in front of me) to Tracy from Antioch just to get one. I like to change up my flavors and concoctions. On my last visit I had a peach lemonade slush it was beyond awesome! In fact I can not wait to get back to Sonic for another one. read more

So disappointed! Today it took 20 minutes to get my food and when I got it the onion rings were only half full. They took it back and told me it would be one minute and it turned into 10! After waiting 30 minutes I check the onion rings and they are barely even cooked (I ordered them crispy originally). Bring it back for a refund and it takes them exactly 5 minutes to give me my money back (leaving me outside cold and waiting)! September 26, 2016 Monday - 3:30 pm, 2 Adults Atmosphere - 3/5 Food - 3/5 Service - 5/5 Background - Me and my Mom wanted a blast from the past, so we "Googled" and then I "Yelped" and we found what we were looking for. Atmosphere - It was warm out, and thank you for ceiling fans. They have benches where you can sit at and dine outside or you could just like a "drive-in" sit and dine in your car. It's nice to have options. Also at the sit down area that have walk up ordering stations similar to the drive up one's. Food: Drink - It was "Happy Hour" so a regular fountain drink wasn't going to suffice, I upgraded my drink to a Green Apple Slushy with Nerds Candy. It was prefext on this hot day. $1.54 for this if you wanted it alone. Dinner - I went with the 12 piece Garlic Parmesan boneless wings $9.39 with Chili Cheese Tater Tots $3.49 which in total with my slushy brought my grand total with taxes out to $14.88. I totally didn't feel I got a "$14.88" experience with the food.. Garlic Parmesan Boneless Wings: They were overcooked and tasted as if they had been sitting under a hotlamp until they were to be served. The garlic parmesan was a sauce instead of what you may be use to getting at your adverage wing place. It was tasty, not over powering and would of been a nice compliment to the boneless wings had the wings themselves had been....fresh. Otherwise I ate them. Chili Cheese Tater Tots: ....Epic Fail! Like honestly for what I payed for these and what I got....I was honestly pretty upset and made mention of it also. The tots was cold and falling apart. I had honestly like maybe 12 tots in the serving and like 2 spoons of chili..juice with a small sprinkle of cheese. It looked nothing like the advertisement and it tasted not that great. Again had they been prepared better my opinion may have been different. I'll stick to Wienerschnitzel for my chili cheese potato needs or wait to try then from a "different" Sonic Location. Had to call and check in since the app check in NEVER works. 25 minutes later still no order. Tried to call phone was busy for 5 mins. Finally someone answered and said he could not give an estimate on when our order would be out. I explained it was a big or hard order. 2 tots, 1 corn dog and 2 drinks. Now we are on 35 mins and still no food. The parking lot is messed up...half of the call boxes don't work. Worst customer service we have experienced in a very long time!!!! I am 61/2 months pregnant. I went to this sonic to get a snickers blast with my family, we ordered and proceeded home. Half way home I took a bite and almost broke my tooth on what appeared to be some sort of plastic. Upset because being pregnant I really wanted the ice cream I decided to return and get a new one made and approach the manager. When we pulled to the window I told the cashier what happened and showed her the objects she apologized and went to get the manager Elizabeth. She was so rude NEVER apologized instead she argued with me about how it was impossible that this object came from my ice cream she went so far as to insinuate that I was lying. I can't believe how I was treated but most importantly I could have swallowed something that could have possibly harmed myself and unborn child. I will reach out to corporate tomorrow. read more

I love sharing new things with people, especially friends. I really love it when I'm sharing something super tasty with those friends. I really really like OMGH4X0RL0LZZZZZAZN!!!! love the fact that I have friends that get all giddy over little things like making a one hour trek to the nearest Sonic for tater tots. I am no stranger to Sonic. We got our first one in my hometown of Turlock many years ago and now they have TWO!!! However, my friends in the Bay Area have to suffer though Sonic commercials with no Sonic to eat at nearby. Every time the Sonic commercial flashes on the TV it is invariably followed by cursing and lamentations on how evil it is to dangle the thought of burgers made with Texas toast and tater tots before them when they have little to no hope of ever having them in their mouths. Well last week my friends let me know that they would have some business in Tracy on Saturday and of course the first thing I thought was *I WILL TAKE THEM TO SONIC!!!* And so it was that this past Saturday I made the trek with two of my friends to the Sonic in Tracy. We pulled up and the first decision to be made was Drive Thru, Car Hop, or park and sit at an outside table. For those not familiar with Sonic, it's like an old 50's style drive thru diner. Most people drive up and park in a stall with the sign board menu and built in inter-com, order from the car, and have their food brought out to them. Some employees even strap on roller skates or roller blades to put a little flair in their delivery of your food. We opted to park in a regular spot and eat on the benches in the covered patio since the weather was very nice. The menu has breakfast items like breakfast burritos (WITH TATER TOTS) or breakfast sammiches (ON BUTTERY TEXAS TOAST), a full lineup of burgers, chicken sammiches, coney island dogs (WITH CHILI AND CHEESE), salads, wraps, onion rings, fries, TATER TOTS (WITH CHILI AND CHEESE OR JUST CHEESE OR PLAIN), desserts of all types, and fountain drinks that can be combined in 168K different customized ways! For those of you that still can't visualize it, think In n Out burger giving it to Dairy Queen doggystyle. Yes, I said doggystyle...'cause it's dirtaaaaaaaaaay! but oh so good! I had to have the new item on the menu, the double patty melt on Texas toast! Two tasty burger patties between two slices of buttery Texas toast held together by perfectly melted cheese with chopped onions in the mix. Of course I couldn't pass up a large order of chili cheese tater tots. I was a bit tame in my drink order and only had a Dr. Pepper with cherry syrup (I actually asked for the fresh cherries but it's an understandable mistake). I was in fast food heaven while eating that meal. My friends opted for the breakfast sammich on Texas toast and split an order of the plain tots. Don't let the word *plain* fool you, those tots are tasty! I was extremely curious about another new item on the menu: a burrito filled with chili, cheese, AND CRUNCHY FRITOS! It's a chili cheese frito burrito! If I had the room to stuff it in my belly I would have but instead I will have to save it for the next group of friends willing to make the trip out to Tracy one of these weekends with me. Our server was an awesome blossom. She had a smile on her face the whole time and made sure we were taken care of. Another employee even came by with a *Smile Tray* full of every condiment imaginable to make sure we didn't need anything else when we were deep in our meal. When I win the lotto I'm going to bring Sonic to the Bay Area...only it will be right outside my mansion and only me and my friends can eat there because I'm stingy like that. I really hate giving one star reviews, but there is just no way around it when it comes to this location. Last night was my 3rd and final visit to this establishment. I knew from previous visits that no one working would be over 17 years old and that I would have to wait longer than it was worth for my food but my son REALLY wanted to stop here, so I reluctantly complied. We got in line at the drive-through and when I reached the speaker I wasn't greeted, so I waited patiently. After t minutes, I finally said "Hello?" and someone immediately replied they would be with me in a minute. No problem. Three minutes later I was asked what I wanted and gave my order. I pulled forward and waited another 11 minutes for cars in front of me before I was able to pull up to the window. This is 20 minutes in so far for anyone who is counting.... I paid and was immediately handed a cherry limeade. Unfortunately I have a new car and there was red syrup dripping all over the sides of the cup. No problem, I will just ask for napkins in a second when they hand me the rest of my order. Almost 5 minutes later, when the employee returned to the window to apologize to me, for the wait, I already had red syrup that had dripped on the leather. I asked for napkins and she also gave me a coupon for free tots and limeade apologizing again. I was still not even upset. She made the mistake of leaving the window open this time.... I heard her asking the two teenage boys working inside to please get my food done. She sounded desperate. They proceeded to cuss at her and talk about how f*ucking ridiculous the closing hours were at this location. She made a comment about wishing she could hit them with her car and sounded physically distressed and almost begging them to get the food out. The whole episode was distressing. One of the boys walked up another 3 minutes later with two bags; one right and one wrong. He went back to fix the second bag. Another two minutes, Then a few more minutes pass before the girl returns and asks if we got everything. I tell her we are missing our shakes and she hands us two that were sitting in the window the whole time and are now warm. I could not wait to get out of there. I don't understand how the owners haven't done something about this place. They need to have an adult on duty at all times! This place is the worst for service I have ever had in fast food and can I just repeat we're talking about fast food here! The standard's not that high to begin with. Needless to say the order was still wrong (2 items) and there was so much whipped cream (we don't like whipped cream and weren't asked if we wanted it) on our half full warm shakes that it overpowered the flavor of the shake itsef. Horrible...just horrible. I have been to Sonic in Stockton so I know this is just an issue with management/employees at this location, but does it really matter when you are sitting there for 45 minutes? I hope they do some restructuring or retraining to get this place into some sort of functioning order. read more

Near the automall, dmv, and movie theater is this Burger joint. Sonics have a drive in concept that came from a time when people actually cared about cars and they were more than utilitarian devices that got replaced every 2 -3 years with another lease. The lack of popularity of this place is extremely evident on an odd Monday afternoon with every drive in spot empty except two, perhaps everybody is stuck at the dmv. Im not sure what the bottleneck issue is there. There is a drivethrough and this is what most people do. Given this is the case this spot is just like any other drive through only a bit mire expensive. People in LA love their cars - I think this concept would be more popular down there. Maybe some parts of the East Bay and Oakland. Newsflash - people drive computers today and the love affair of vehicles died when Mustangs got ugly and fuel efficient in the 70s. Oh, for the best of this kind try Sams in San Lorenzo near the Hayward border. There is a subculture there that keeps Sams kicking. read more

Me and mine have come to this particular location on occasion, if it happens to be along the way of whatever road trip we are taking, and it has just gone down hill as time goes on. Yesterday when I arrived, as expected after almost 2 hours in the car, I had to relieve myself. This establishment has two bathrooms, and when I tried one, the door was locked. Okay. Door number 2, unlocked. Score! Not score. The bathroom was nasty. Obviously it hadn't been cleaned in a while, seat covers were no where to be found, and the single roll of toilet paper was on the floor. The dirty, you know some dudes sprinkled their tinkle on the floor, floor. I couldn't do it, I walked out, and tried the first door again. Still locked, so I went to find an employee. Here's how that went: Me: Hi, do you know if I need a key for the restroom or if it's locked, is someone still in there you think? Employee: There's 2 bathrooms, one is always locked. Me: Okay, the one bathroom was nasty and the other was locked. Can you unlock it? Employee: There's only 2 people who have the key. One is out sick, and the other just left for the day. Me: ... okay.... well, do you have more seat covers, at least? Employee: I'll check, but I don't think so. Honestly, I just never use public restrooms. Me:... .... ... . . . Okayyy Basically, "Our place is whack and I can't help you, I just work here. Ugh. Awesome. At a spot like this, where it is a stop for many who are passing through, it should be a given that part of their service is to provide sanitary restrooms for paying customers. You think I drove 2 hours in traffic just to eat some tots with cheese on them? While I love all the delicious deserts that Sonic has to offer, I truly dislike their service standards (or lack thereof). We don't come here for food often, but when we do, it is expected that we can get our food rather quickly. However, on average it takes 15 minutes (sometimes more) to get our order, which is pretty long for a fast food place. To add to that, half the time the workers don't really seem to care about anything which is a real bummer. Then the food we get isn't amazing enough to make me forget what just happened. So... I guess I'm saying that I'm not to fond of eating meals here but if you have patience, go for it. Anyway, on chill summer nights we like to come here and get dessert. 90% of the time the experience for dessert is good. I like Sonic's. They are different than the standard burger fast food because: it's a drive-in, they offer a variety of things, and have GREAT drinks. I come here every time I make a trip from San Jose to Sacramento, as it's open late and refreshing. The drive in aspect of it makes it unique as drive-in's are a dying breed. The thought of ordering my food, paying for my food, and eating my food in the luxury of my own car. That also brings up a con of this idea, eating in my car. My car is new and I treat it as my baby, I don't want my car getting dirty, well at least it's not dirty compared to other fast food joints. They offer a variety of things from breakfast, burgers, coney's (hot dogs), toast sandwiches, ice cream, and tater tots. Their burgers aren't the best, but ok at best. Now, what (IMHO) Sonic's specializes in are drinks. They've got shakes, malts, sodas, fountain drinks (special soda), and slushy's. I LOVE their cream slushes! They have this great tasting Blue Coconut drink. I'm hoping that they will build a Sonic's over in Natomas (north Sacramento). Went here after a Bowling Tourny with my youngest daughter. It was a Sunday afternoon at approx 1:30 in the afternoon and they were busy. Even with the crowd I got excellent service both from the person taking my order and from the very nice woman that brought my order out to me. Order was correct, food was hot, drinks were cold and she supplied us with a good amount of condiments. She even had a little time to make a little small talk with me and my daughter. My daughter had the Popcorn Chicken meal (again!!) and I had my favorite, the grilled chicken sandwich meal. Yes, it is junk food. Yes, it will likely give you 100% of your caloric intake in 20 minutes. Yes, it is full of saturated fat, sodium, high fructose corn syrup and other comestible ticking time bombs. But do you care? Do you hell! They have these things called Toasters at Sonic that are burgers sandwiched between slightly sweet, thick slices of Texas Toast and these alone are worth of five stars, hell i'd give them six if I could. En route to Tahoe this weekend we started off the day with Sonic breakfast and I had the Sausage and Egg Toaster. Oh my, the taste sensation remained with me through the day and being stuck in traffic, having a slipping clutch on my 2 week old car and getting a ticket from the nicest CHP officer IN THE WORLD didn't affect my mood because I had eaten the finest fast food breakfast sandwich ever. After a crappy day of iceboarding we made our second stop at Sonic and I had the Chicken Club Toaster to see if the delight translated to dinner. Happily it did, the sweet toast makes sweet gastronomic love with the crispy chicken to leave me one happy gourmand. It's all about the tater tots! Sure, you can get the fancy drinks (I love the coconut cream milk shake), but when it comes down to it, you know that you want the tater tots because no other place normally has them. (Arby's has Potato Cakes but they don't want you to order them.) We got a combo 3 and a combo 7 and it was somewhat expensive but they was enough food to satisfy, and still below $20.00. The voice on the speaker was a bit hard to understand, and we ended up saying "no" to something at the end and everything came out alright. Service was smooth after that and quick. I'm not sure about tipping or not, but I did. After all, Carl's Jr. brings food to the table and no one tips them. I just don't understand the hype. I apologize to any Tracy locals, but this side of the city STINKS. So the fact that this location is simply a drive-in is rather disappointing. I'd rather be catching a whiff of abnormally high-calorie beef rather than cow fertilizer. The burgers in Sonic are overrated. Unless you're ordering one of their premium sandwiches, you won't be impressed. What sets Sonic's aside from everybody else is their variety in shakes. They have fruity cream pie shakes as well as specials such as a Reese's chiller, M&M's, and the lot. They also have great side dishes that include chilli cheese fries, deep-fried cheese sticks, and cheddar-stuffed jalapenos. I went here over the weekend and didn't order a burger because of a previous experience--not to mention the fact that I'm not eating any meat until lent is over, but I spent a good amount of money on their sides. But as a San Jose local, is it worth it to drive over Highway 5 (which is pretty far away) for some sides and a shake? Nope. One of carhops is really hot though. read more

I really REALLY enjoy the slushies, the shakes (chocolate & banana is a fav of mine), corn dogs, and the TOTs! I recently tried the pretzel dog, the one with cheese and bacon....I will recommend this if you like ptezels, hot dogs, and or bacon. Either way you cannot go wrong with a shake or the TOTs.
