I had the Barbacoa breakfast plate. Over easy eggs cooked to perfection & beans, barbacoa & papas were very tasty. The chicharones are the best I've ever had. I loved that the waitress brought out a whole avocado to smash myself. The huevos Rancheros & the pancake plate were also very good! The place is very humble & small but clean. Holy heck man I don't leave reviews for much but this place hit my good list quick. I didn't catch the lady's name in the drive thru but she was very kind and helpful. Even after ordering with nobody in front of me in the drive thru I hadn't even shifted to park yet and my order was ready. Less than 5 minutes for sure. I ordered a chicharron and egg and potato and egg taco and let me tell you dude, they hit. 10/10 best taco I've found in corpus in the time I've lived here. Good morning, I just want to say the barbacoa on the weekends is amazing. But this is my first time ordering tacos from yall. I just got to work. I was excited to eat my tacos. When I I open up my bean and cheese taco. I was so disappointed that my taco just had a small smeared of beans and the tortilla was sort of hard not soft at all. I opened the other bean and cheese taco to see what it looked like. The same as the first one. Maybe that is why it's a special for 1.25. I had ordered a bacon and egg mixed for 2.75. Same barely any eggs and the bacon was really chopped up as if it was put in the blender. Very disappointing with my purchase. I was about to go to Jalisco across the street. Their tacos are 2.49 but at least I will get enough food in the tacos. Next time for my beans I will go to HiHo. They have a special tomorrow of bean and bacon for 2.20 and they put enough beans and good amount of bacon. Sorry Sonny's very disappointing. read more

Great breakfast taco. Pull up to the cones in the parking lot, and the attendant will take your order on a tablet. Once my order was placed I pulled up to the last cone and waited a minute for my order to be delivered. I ordered a bean egg and cheese breakfast taco with habanero hot sauce. They also had red and green. Unlike most, this hot sauce was reddish brown, not orange, and there was a generous amount. I slathered all of it onto my taco and dove in. The tortilla was soft and chewy, the filling was hot, generous, and balanced. The hot sauce was unlike any I've had in Corpus, or anywhere else, in a good way. Spoiler alert.....barbacoa heaven is in Corpus Christi, TX!! Me and the hubs were in town and needed a hearty breakfast to get the day started. Quick search on Yelp sent us over to Sonny's. We decided to try something new, ordered a taco of breaded/fried marinated fajitas...what? Yes, they were melt-in-yo-mouth delicious....first step to heaven. The final step came with the arrival of my egg white barbacoa omelette! I know....egg white with barbacoa?!? DONT JUDGE. The outside of the omelette had the perfect browness to create a cozy blanket for some of the best barbacoa I've ever wrapped my mouth around! I will snuggle with this delicious meat anytime!! The best barbacoa in Corpus Christi I've tried. We've been to multiple places for barbacoa, all along Everhart, and my whole family thought this place was the best. We also ordered carne asada tacos with our takeout order but those were not in the bag when we got home. That's the reason for knocking off one star. This place is a small business on the corner of two main streets in corpus. The line was a little long on a friday morning, yet they had a guy taking pre orders handing you a ticket which made the wait very short. I ordered 2 pounds of barbacoa with tortillas to bring all the way up north for a 7 hour drive. The lemonade was so delicious and the single taco with avocado was great. I made it all the way up north and the food was still pretty tasty (after heating it up a little in the microwave of course) even the following morning after refrigerating and slightly heating up in the oven the meat still hit the spot. Those fluffy tortillas are filling. I passed by on the way to catch the highway for the drive and the stop was impulsive but well worth it. Price was very reasonable. $35 for 2 pounds, 2 dozen tortillas, a single taco, and a small lemonada. Most likely to be my frequent hometown visit stop before returning way up to Dallas. read more

This little place is right on the corner of "Blink" and "You'll Miss It" Streets. It really is small, BUT it makes up for this with all the incredibly tasty things inside! I was just here to get my fix for two things: barbacoa (duh!) and chicharrones. I've had both at other places, but never at Sonny's. So, when my favorite go-to place closed, I thought I'd give this one a try. OH-MY-GOD!! Why did I wait so long?? The prices are a little bit higher than what I've paid before, but the flavor and the quality of the meat in the (all meat) barbacoa is outstanding!! Very little grease, some big chunks of meat along with the shredded kind. Absolutely delicious! And the chicharrones?? Okay, this stuff is crackdictive!! Nice tender, crispy chunks of pork tastiness fried up just right. And make sure you get it with the "Sonny's Spice" seasoning on it. It was all I could do not to eat the whole pound before I got home! I just couldn't stay out of 'em! The staff is super friendly, even at 6 o'clock in the morning. They let me sample before I made up my mind what I wanted. A smile and "Thank you" and I was on my way...... but now I've run out of chicharrones ......dammit....... have to go back.... read more

Amazing food. Hands down my favorite Mexican food here in Corpus. The tortillas were nice and fluffy...not the best in town that is at taqueria Alameda in the bluff. But they are second best as far as tortillas are concerned. But their quality of meat was hands down the best so it more than made up for it. We went here on a Saturday for a late lunch (just after 1pm) and there were a few parking spots. The place was half full, so we were in and seated in no time. I love barbacoa and got the barbacoa breakfast plate with homefries, egg and refried beans. Everything was delicious. The barbacoa was really good, however, I like my barbacoa less fatty, and it seemed to a fair amount of fat on it, to the point where when I assembled my barbacoa taco, it still had fat dripping off it.
