I went to Sonny's BBQ. On a Tuesday afternoon. It wasn't too busy. We were greeted and seated promptly. They no longer have a salad bar. The decor was rustic with lots of natural wood. I ordered the Smoked Turkey dinner, it comes with 2 sides. and a choice of garlic Texas toast or a cornbread muffin. I like the smoked turkey because it is real turkey breast. I chose the sweet potato and broccoli as my sides. The turkey was moist with a mild smoky flavor. The sweet potato was really tasty. Broccoli was cooked just right. I would have liked a little larger servings of turkey. The other orders were 1/2 smoked chicken. BBG Brisket, and a combo of brisket and chicken breast. Everyone said theirs were good. The Macaroni and cheese was declared very good. FYI If you choose the garlic toast, they bring one slice unless you ask for two slices. The service was pleasant and timely. read more

This is a commercial bbq place with average food. Beef was fatty in the sandwich. The tater tots were our favorite thing. They were cooked perfectly. Back in the day, Sonny's was a regular part of our annual Florida trips, so when I found out we'd be coming to Cocoa Beach for a week, I knew I had to stop into a Sonny's and see if they still had the goods. Do they ever! We showed up around lunchtime on a Sunday and the place was maybe half full. The place definitely looked different from how I remembered it, but I was happy to see four different barbecue sauces on the table. I knew we had to start with a staple, the Fried Okra ("Served with a side of Ranch"), because we got that all the time way back when. It's just as delicious as I remembered. It arrived to the table piping hot and each bite was just so tasty. The crispy outside and the luscious okra inside combined for one addictive treat. For my main, I went with a Pulled Pork sandwich and got a side of Original Recipe BBQ Beans. I got the large size and it was massive. But the pork was smoky and super tender and I couldn't get enough. The beans were just as good, and I loved the tinge of sweetness they'd been infused with. Sonny's is just as amazing as I remembered, if not better. I want to eat their food weekly. read more

I ordered wings, corn nuggets, fries, and okra about an hour before close with Grubhub. I received the food fairly quickly and it was delicious!! The smoked wings were big and superb. So, my impression of Sonny's BBQ is this. The bbq is a little dry and overdone for my liking. But I will say that the ribs were pretty good. The pulled pork was dry and needed a good amount of sauce. Sonny's BBQ is a fun place to bring the family. There aren't a lot of BBQ options in central FL, luckily Sonny's doesn't use this as an excuse to sacrifice food quality or service. The staff is friendly and the food is good. I recommend the loaded tots to start things off. They used to have a pick-2/pick-3 option where you could try different cuts of meat. Food portions are rather small but it's also reflected in the pricing as it was very fairly priced for the portions. BBQ wasn't anything amazing - felt pretty par/sub par across the board. The 3 meat plate has baby back ribs that were about 4 inches long so rather small, a palm full of brisket that was so broken up - it was pretty crumbly. The hot link was about 4 slices and very dry. The sauces on the side were pretty on point though, i loved the spicy bbq sauce, just the right amount of tang and heat and sweet. sides were pretty run of the mill for a chain bbq spot, corn bread was moist but tasted generic. Co workers and I placed a $90 order today with every meal being wrong or missing something.. They did not take into consideration the notes we left when we placed the online order either. My Sonny's sampler was missing ribs and did not have the double pork in place of chicken that I had asked for. The chopped brisket I was given was sliced brisket that was chopped up. The chopped brisket is supposed to come from a different part of the butt that is marbled, not from the leaner part that they sell the sliced brisket from. My cinnamon butter was also forgotten. You may disagree but even if I hadn't asked for the butter it should be given with the meal or the person packaging the bag should ask the customer if they need it. We were given 3 sauce packets for all 4 of our meals. My coworkers food had ribs and pork that was forgotten and the other meal he had asked for a bun instead of garlic bread but he was given garlic bread. All of these requests were on the ticket, the ticket was stapled to the bag. It looked like our order was thrown together with eyes closed. read more

Sonnys has always been a favorite of mine since childhood. Locations really started to become hard to find where I grew up so when I saw this location not far from our new house I was so excited. This location did not disappoint at all. The food was just as good as I remember. We have been here for Dine-In and Take-out and both have been very good experiences. We love getting the sampler with the two sides, garlic bread or corn bread, pulled chicken, pulled pork and ribs. Most recently when we got take-out the girl taking care of us was so friendly and payed great attention to my fiancé's allergies. Part of our order was missing so we called and the manager Dave really fixed the situation. Everything else was terrific and the food was tasty as usual. I've eaten at Sonny's for maybe 40 years. Always good food and service. I think they have the best dry rub ribs I've ever had.

Our server was great! Pork egg rolls and the Mac and cheese bowl were a hit. We always love stopping by Sonny's when we get the chance.

Wow - best Sonys we've been too. Clean, pretty restaurant. But the bbq really stood out with a great wood flavor.

A very nice and popular BBQ restaurant. It was busy the evening we visited but we were seated quickly and the service was good. The fried okra appetizer was very good. My beef brisket was tender and flavorful and the variety of sauces complimented the meat perfectly. My wife's BBQ salad was very good too. I was surprised, and a little bit disappointed to learn that Sonny's is a restaurant chain but if all of them are this good they're worth a visit. This location never fails to satisfy me. The food is what you expect from a Sonny's so that gets a 3 - 3 1/2 stars. This location is clean and the staff is great. If you like Sonny's or chain BBQ, try this place! If you haven't tried it - get the fried okra (just leave some for me or I'll hunt you down!). The Sweet Tea is just raight (hard to spell southern, but I think I nailed it). The sliced, smoked turkey is my fave. The brisket, pulled pork, and ribs are pretty good too. Great food. Wonderful, fast service. We have come to this location several times over the years. There is parking on the side and a lot in the back. You enter through the door on the south side. You have your choice to sit at the bar or be seated by a hostess. There are both tables and booths in three rows behind the hostess stand. We were greeted within a minute and seated quickly in a booth. The waitress arrived within a minute to get our drink order. The restaurant was pretty busy but our food came out within 10 minutes. I got the hamburger and crispy French fries and a sweet tea. All of those items were excellent. The bill for 2 of us was just over $20 which is reasonable for the speed of service, quality of food and friendliness of staff. read more

Sonny's is hit or miss. I usually go to the one in Merrit Island. For the most part it's usually very satisfying great service and great food. There are times like my last visit where things fall apart. When I arrived there was no one to seat me but within about 5 minutes I was greeted and taken to a table. I order the combo of Ribs and 1/4 chicken. My food arrived promptly and within 2 or 3 minutes my waiter inquired about my food which I had not had enough time to taste everything. This went on about every 5 minutes when I responded about my disappointment in the ribs ( over cook dried out) I got a " sorry " response. I thought well ok just an off night. My waiter kept coming back too often asking how is everything? Once again I said everything was good except for the ribs being dried out. So I get my bill and was ask again "how was everything ? We visited Sonny's for dinner Monday night, December 30th around 6pm. I ordered the rib and wing combo and my wife ordered the pulled pork sandwich. The server brought my platter missing the wings. She informed me that the kitchen ran out of smoked wings. Really at the beginning of dinnertime on a weekday? Needless to say I was disappointed. To make matters worse, the pulled pork sandwich was barely warm, not hot as expected. I contacted corporate and filled a complaint form. I have yet to receive a confirmation or response. read more

Terrible experience - tables are filthy and had to ask them to wipe/clean them. Still it was sticky. Floors had grease, server even almost slipped. Food crumbs everywhere. Did not use to be that way, not sure what happened here. I hope they start taking hygiene more seriously especially with the pandemic still ravaging Florida. read more
