I went to Country Cookin with a couple of friends for breakfast. They ordered the combo meat breakfast with grits and eggs, the bacon and eggs with biscuit and sausage Gravy. The eggs were ordered over easy but were brown crispy on the edges. They said theirs was okay. I ordered the ham and one egg breakfast, with hash browns and biscuit with sausage gravy. I ordered the egg scrambled medium and it came out very well cooked, the hash browns were only browned on one side and were dripping with oil. Several times we wanted the servers attention for morel coffee and honey, unfortunately they were gathered at their station chatting and unavailable The restaurant was clean and not too crowded. I have visited before and everything was a lot better. Maybe just an off day. read more

Been to this place a couple of times now because the food was good. Today the staff seriously needed to go home. They definitely acted like they did not want to be there and looked miserable. No eye contact or thank you. I even tipped 22% for a take out order. Guess I'm the sucker. Seriously though, if you don't like working at a place go find another job. First time here. Split the country scrambler, (scrambled eggs with green peppers and onions, home fries and sausage, topped with cheddar cheese and sausage gravy). Plenty for each of us! Definitely worth the money. The only complaint I had was that for the size of the restaurant there is only one restroom stall per gender and when I went in there was no soap. One of the waitresses had just left there, which surprised me because there seemed to be separate employee bathrooms. Told her about it and another person from my party went to the bathroom and said that it still had not been replaced. There were plenty of servers this morning so I was a bit disappointed that the soap situation was not resolved while we were there. Country Cookin Diner-Rockledge- 0.5-Stars ****SWILL ALERT**** "I will eat disgusting things, but only those with long-established culinary traditions." -- Dana Goodyear I abhor national chain restaurants, which is why you will never see a BBDO review for Chili's or, *shudder* Olive Garden. However, small local chains are something I do like to see, at least when they are slingin' quality slop, for nothing pleases me more than local entrepreneurial success. So, when Country Cookin' Diner showed up on my random generator, I was actually looking forward to trying their fare, with three locations I figured they must be doing something right. Judging by how packed their parking lot was in Rockledge at 9:43 in the morning, I again thought that they must be serving at the least, average foodstuffs, if not downright good grub. Upon entering I was greeted warmly enough and didn't have too long of a wait before I was seated. Turning my avid eyes towards their menu I found nothing extravagant, just your average diner fare, being a sybarite, I grudgingly came to the conclusion that there would be no eggs Benedict with fresh lox and homemade Hollandaise sauce this morning, but if the home fries were good, I could live with that. Soon enough I was greeted by a charming individual who introduced herself as Keely and asked me if I had any questions or was I ready to order. Keely, as mentioned, was charming as well as diligent and honest. Her service was the saving grace to be sure, but I get ahead of myself. I asked Keely if I could have the Country Fried Steak and eggs (over medium) with home fries, a medium-rare Patty Melt and a side of biscuits and gravy. As Keely scampered off to place my order, I took the opportunity to glance about the place. It was clean, tidy, well lit and did have a certain "homey" feel. If we at BBDO rated such things as ambiance, this place would be above average for a greasy spoon type diner. Considering how busy the place was, my food was brought out within an acceptable amount of time. As one can see by the photos, everything looked as it should and was not unappealing to the eye. However, once again, we at BBDO don't give all that much credit to the presentation, to us, it's all about the execution. First up on the Big Boy palate was the Country Fried Steak and eggs breakfast platter. Man, that sounds good, does it not? Alas, it was far from good and as it turned out, just this side of edible. The home fries were flavorless discs of carbohydrates, the steak was the proverbial hockey puck of grossness, while the gravy had that unmistakable made fresh from the packet taste. At least the eggs were satisfactorily cooked over medium and didn't taste bad. Turning my attentive taste buds towards the Patty Melt, I first pulled it apart to look at the patty itself. Did it look homemade? No, no it did not. Did it taste freshly made in the back? Again, no it did not. This was so disgusting that I had to spit it out. The fries were unmistakable the frozen not fresh variety and while they were deep-fried to a beautiful golden brown, they were completely flavorless. One bite and I was ready to move on to the final item up for review, the side of biscuits and gravy. At this point in the meal, I had a fair idea that the biscuits would be of the frozen plug and play type and I was not wrong in this assumption. They were flat and had that unmistakable fresh from the freezer after taste we have all come to know and love. The gravy was the same reconstituted flavorless powder crap they served with the Country Fried Steak and I assure you, it didn't taste any better here. It really isn't all that hard to make a gravy from scratch, nor is it all that difficult (as past reviews have noted) to make powdered gravy at the least palatable, with the right doctoring and execution. The fact that they have expanded to three locations does not speak to their fare, but rather is a testament to how little the bulk of humanity cares about quality food. I firmly stand behind my swill alert and 1/2-star rating. The Big Boy says, "this is swill through and through and should be avoided at all cost." Just to further drive home the point on how bad this stuff was, I actually stopped at a McDonald's on the way home to wash the horrid aftertaste from my mouth. That's right, I cleansed my palate with a Big Mac. That speaks volumes to the horrendous swill I had been served at the Country Cookin' Diner in Rockledge. #bigboydiningout #iamthebigboy read more

This place might not live up to the standards of grown men who refer to themselves as "The Big Boy," but it's a damn good diner. It was packed when I came in for lunch alone, but they still sat me promptly and didn't grumble about me being by myself. The servers were super friendly, not just to me but also some older disabled veterans who were sitting nearby. That's something you really love to see. I started with the beef vegetable soup which tasted totally homemade. It had large pieces of cabbage which added great texture alongside the corn and carrots. For my meal I went with a blackened chicken sandwich and it was superb. Chicken was heavy in flavor but not over-seasoned and all the elements of the sandwich came together well. I can see why it's a popular hotspot in Rockledge and I hope to return soon. read more

Really wanted to like this place. But as soon as we walked in the three people at the cash register didn't even say hello to us until after about two minutes. The carpet was completely dirty with garbage and debris. Once we got seated our waitress came up to us within about five or 10 minutes which wasn't too bad, but all throughout our meal all the waiter were doing was talking to each other louder than the customers in the restaurant about watching things on YouTube, and play you tube videos loud. Normally i don't post negative comments but in this instance i needed to. Was looking for a mom and pop restaurant and decided to try this place out. We went in and saw an filthy carpet and a lot of small trash on the floor but since there was a decent amount of customers there we said we would try the food.... We ordered burgers (medium) and fries. The burger was one of those pre-made patties, with no flavor and overcooked. The fries were not fresh and not good either. Good ol' wholesome dining in a warm and hospitable setting with oodles of comfort food and loads of potatoes. There's just something so delicious about country southern food that stirs my soul. Everyone is so proper and nice. They might be located in a strip mall but don't judge it by that. Whether it's breakfast, lunch, or dinner- this place serves up a nice hot meal at a bargain for the serving. The sausage gravy alone is worth the trip and you can get a dipping portion of it for your toast so you can see why it's worth your time. Heck, they even have beer during breakfast time. It's not a fancy spot, it's a yummy and indulgent place where the dress code is nonexistent and the coffee is bottomless. This USE to be a great place to eat years ago.. however today I was served frozen blueberries on instant oatmeal, canned fruit instead of fresh as a side, watered down tasteless salsa and the eggs for the omelet were definitely Instant. :( on top of that the service was extremely slow & the restaurant was only half packed... This place is dirty - the carpet looks disgusting and the booth seats are cracked and old - ours had duct tape sealing a crack. Ha! Saw unsanitary practice here - the servers handle food - they make your toast, english-muffin, etc. - no gloves, no hand washing - after handling cash, dirty menu's, clearing used plates from tables. What example of what a Restaurant should be, folks get off of Interstate 95 and enjoy the best service, best breakfast, best price one could ask for. Our food came out correct, fast, and hot. The Restaurant was very clean, menus were clean, staff all looked crisp and clean. So glad they popped on Yelp. It's rare you find a Restaurant that does everything right, I hope you stop by and have the same great experience that we had. My family has been coming here for years. Yes the pandemic has made it hard to find Good help and I understand this. Today my wife and I got there about noon and was seated right away. We ordered drinks and they were brought to us. We sat and we sat without anyone acknowledging us. A family was seated across from us and the server fell over herself to take care of them. Three times I asked the heavy set hostess if we had a server and three times she completely ignored me (fellow diners heard me). Finally the server who has been there the longest came and got out order, a chicken wrap and a ham sandwich, no fries. And we waited and we waited. I got up to use the men's room and lunch was still not served, but the booth that came in behind us had eaten and left. All of the tables that came in after us already had their food. My wife and I were getting up to leave when our lunch finally arrived (we should have left). When I told the server why we were getting ready to leave and she told me it took so long for the fried chicken in my wrap!! As I was going to pay my bill, I saw patrons who got here after us had already eaten and left. The hostess ask how was everything and I told her we had bad service and she said they were busy and that was just my perspective!! I will not be eating at this restaurant again!! Something was going on, very loudly, in the kitchen. Patrons were looking to see what was going on. Mistreat your customers and you will lose your customers!! This is nowhere near the best place for breakfast in Rockledge. Drive past this place and go to Jimmie's. So much better food and service there. Goods: the quantity of food here is large, you will not go hungry. Coffee is bland but bottomless and refilled frequently. The prices are reasonable. Others: the kitchen is very slow, and the food, when it finally arrives is bland. Servers seem more intent on taking breaks than serving food. The existence of grits on the menu does not make a place "Southern". read more
