I was visiting with my friend we decided to go to Sonny's for lunch last week. The waitress was awful she couldn't even get our drinks right all we ask for is a coke with no ice and a sweet tea with ice I don't think that was very hard. The restaurant was very very dirty the food when it came out was not Sonny's quality food. When I got my pork sandwich I said to my friend and Harley has any meat on it so I cut in half and then when I opened up this second part I have the only thing that was on there was the skin from the pork butt a big old piece of skin and that's it. I told her when you walk in the Sunny's it usually smells so good this one it smelled dirty and I asked her are you sure you want to eat here and she said oh yeah let's try it out never ever again. As we are getting up from the booth I couldn't even lift my feet up they were stuck to the floor the floor was so dirty and sticky I would think twice before going there to eat. read more

But I ordered takeout because we were staying at a nearby hotel, and when I asked for an extra plate and cutlery the girl said they don't provide those. I asked how I was supposed to eat it and she said, with a straight face and touch of arrogance, "well it comes in box, so we don't provide plates or utensils." Sonnys is a chain but they are a chain that started about 20 miles from this spot. All locations are really consistent. This is a huge location. When the parking lot is full you can still get seated without a wait. The service was great here, cleaner than most and an overall good experience. I always get sliced pork. Every time I travel through Starke, we always stopped at the SONNYS on 301 for what was my favorite thing on the Menu - Pulled Pork Salad. Been many times and never had an issue with the service or the food, until my last visit on Sunday 2.8.26. This time I had an out-of-town quest with us - Where she lives there is NO Sonny's! My quest was looking forward to some BBQ and I to my Pulled Pork Salad as I had many times before. The waitress always complied with my special needs. The Pork had to be cooked well and pulled not chopped due to a condition I have with digesting meats. The waitress appeared to have got that - but with an attitude to the point of me being her problem. At that point we were hungry, tired and it was getting late, so we held out for the food. Fries were supposed to be extra crispy instead they were hardly cooked; I took one look at the Salad and immediately knew I could NOT eat this. Not only was the pork undercooked, it was nothing but fat and grizzle. I had to get someone to get our waitress back to the table and you knew she had a bigger attitude than first started. I explained to her I couldn't eat this salad. I showed her it was not fully cooked and the fat and grizzle was unacceptable; the fries were almost raw. Instead of her asking to replace or fix the order she wanted to argue with me and give me a lecture on how the pork can't be cooked any more than what it is, it will always be pink and depending on the cut of the meat there will always be some fat and grizzle, as for the fries she never addressed those being under cooked when asked for extra crispy. My response to that was "This is not acceptable nor eatable especially when I requested it otherwise and I have been here at least once a week in the past 2 months and my order/request was always made right" Actually when the waitress brought me my salad she always asked if it was done right - you did not! Then she made it appear she had to get a manager to take it off the bill - that should not have been debatable nor questionable. Needless to say - It was not the cook! We got up and left and now what was a traditional stop we will just go right past Sonny's and for my quest - she requested we not ever take her there again! I guess we'll be returning to Bono's when we want BBQ! read more

Delicious! The food was terrific here! We shared a platter that had ribs, chicken and pulled pork-it was all great! Included also was garlic bread and cornbread-each was so good! We also enjoyed the baked beans and Coleslaw...and we had a side order of macaroni and cheese-it was amazing! They have 6 kinds of barbecue sauce so you can try them all! Our waitress was fabulous as well! I will note that it is freezing cold inside this restaurant-Ladies-bring a jacket! Stopped in for a late lunch at Sonny's while on the road for work. This location was renovated about a year ago so it's very nice inside. Our server Michelle was terrific and was on top of everything we needed. Very good server and also friendly! We got the loaded tater tots as an app. They were good and very filling. We both got BBQ salads. I got mine with brisket and specifically asked for the lean side cut. It came out with very fatty brisket. I showed Michelle and she went and got me some new brisket. The salad was okay. I didn't love it. I also got a sampler platter to go for my significant other and he really enjoyed it. It was enough for him to have later for dinner and I was able to eat a bit too. There was brisket on it and it was better than what I had on my salad at lunch earlier on the day. While everything tasted good, the bread on my sandwich was warmer than the pulled pork and my fries were barely warm. I ordered a baked potato, beloved ordered the chopped beef brisket with broccoli and baked beans as his sides. Michelle was our server and she was working hard! How do they carry those huge food-laden trays with one hand? The brisket was moist, tasty, but not hot. The baked beans were delicious with a sweet taste in a slightly spicy sauce. The broccoli was chopped and nicely flavored. My baked potato was just how I like it. If the meat had been hot I would have given 5 stars. Service was excellent. read more

Years of stopping at this location in Starke- now with the new road avoiding the town, it's rare for me to eat in Starke- but we were planning on stopping after about an hour of driving and that's right where Starke is. This was my first time actually eating in- they have a to-go window that I have ordered at and hit the road so many times in the past. I went with my standard- a pulled pork sandwich on the garlic bread with mac-n-cheese as my side. The mac was just ok. The pulled pork was exactly how it should be- moist, flavorful. John got the sliced pork sandwich on garlic bread and a side of green beans and he was very happy with his meal. Service was stellar- our waitress was fast on everything! Sonny's for me has always been fast to get the food out and this visit was exactly that! We were in and out in 30 minutes. Great stop while traveling. 3pmish on a Friday and they were fairly busy too. If you need a bite- this is a good stop! read more

very rude customer service!!!! i spent $108.00 my first time & she was so rude because i went through the frigging window and fogot a tip!!! i stood outside this restaurants window and ordered my food because the customer service woman told me she couldnt hear me on the phone well enough to take my order! so i drive to the restaurant and go to the restaurant window and same lady places my huge order and says 10~15 minutes to wait! 15 minutes later its 20 minutes more and attitude!!! wow, really?????? so i gave the girl a two dollar tip for doing nothing but handing out my order through the window and giving me attitude! thanks sonnys for losing me as a customer and a well paying tipper read more

My wife and I used to get Sonny's take out every week, twice a week for almost two solid years, no exaggeration! The last few months of this we both noticed that the quality of the Ribs began to degrade. The ribs would be so tough, impossible to eat. The last night we ordered from Sonny's in Starke I called the restaurant and spoke to the manager, funny thing is, while I was on hold waiting for him I began to hear a Sonny's commercial coming thru. The gentleman in my ear began to explain how Sonny's slow cooks their ribs to perfection and the ribs are falling off the bone. Yeah, ok. What really caused me to call it quits with Sonny's is the fact that the manager this particular night didn't think their too tough to eat ribs was a big deal, and when I let him know we wouldn't be back, ever, he laughed.
