My family and I have been coming here for years now, since I was a little girl and now as a grownup I've brought friends and my fiancé, and everyone has loved it. Their wonton soup is to die for. I always tell everyone that is my least meal wish. Lisa and her family are so nice, so sweet and so caring, and you can clearly tell that their food is made with love. Wonton soup is 1000000/10, spicy crispy beef (amazing)10/10 chow mein also delish, especially with a side of sweet and sour sauce. Their fried prawns, Broccoli beef, fried rice are all absolutely delicious. I travel from Napa just to come have good quality Chinese food. The place is small but homey, and in a super easy location. Stumbled on this Chinese place after a long drive and wanted to get some take out. I asked the lady helping us if there was anything Gluten free (made with Tamari) I wasn't sure if she quite understood because she quickly said yes yes we make everything to order. We were a bit reluctant to order because my husband has celiac but we went with a couple things to share. I got wonton soup for myself and 2 dishes she said they could make gluten free. I found it interesting that the entrees don't come with rice and you have to order the amount of rice you want. It also cost extra for chili sauce so you can see how quickly all of this can add up. The food itself was fine, wasn't the best Chinese food or anything. I felt like I needed to add soy or more sauce to the dishes because they didn't have a lot of flavor. Especially with them making them gluten free somehow. The white sauce was just ok ya know? The thing I did enjoy most was the noodles with small pieces of bbq pork. The wonton soup had only broth and 2 wontons, that's it. Every wonton soup I've ever eaten had more than that. Whether it be spinach, other veggies or even a couple shrimps. It was rather bland. I picked some walnut shrimp up for my son on the way home from work and it was so deliciously perfect... I had to take a couple of bites when I got home before I gave it to him because it smelled so good and I could not believe how and fresh and perfect it was... they made it fast and they're so polite and nice... I was really excited when Happy Garden became available on Doordash- I really enjoy their food but they had previously been a little out of range for me to get on my lunch break. On my most recent visit I got their lunch special of sweet and sour tofu with steamed rice and won ton soup. They have a lot of lunch special combinations to choose from if you like a little variety. I didn't get it this time but I can also say from experience their hot and sour soup is the perfect thing if you ever feel under the weather. This family-owned business has been around a long time and with all the challenges small businesses face these days I am so glad they have endured. This Chinese restaurant is a hidden gem in Sonoma. My first impression when I walked in were to walk right back out because lack of ambiance that I was seeking. On a recent trip to Sonoma, we had a hankering for some Chinese food and ordered some tasty food from Happy Garden. Lisa took care of us, and she was a delight. We enjoyed Kung Pao Combination, Chop Suey, Pot Stickers, Hot and Sour Soup, and Veggie Egg Rolls. While not very traditional, Happy Garden is one of the few Chinese restaurants that has Chop Suey and Egg Foo Young. Happy Garden is tucked away in the same shopping center at Whole Foods on W. Napa, in Sonoma. We ordered our food to-go, and it was ready on time and well packaged. read more

1st time coming here for lunch and it was okay my expectations was not met I really wanted the authentic sweet and sour chicken with onions and bell peppers in it and I got just plain meat with sauce on top plus the cheese wontons are plain with light filling I've had plenty of cheese wontons that tasted very good I'm not sure if I'll come back to this restaurant ima lil disappointed I'll try others and hope for the best read more

We ate here in November 2019 (pre-Covid!) on our last evening of a wonderful trip to Hawaii and Sonoma wine country. We were leaving the next day from Oakland Airport; we had finished an amazing wine tasting at Bedrock in town, there was a festival going on in the town plaza with jillions of people celebrating. I was highly disappointed. I come here often with my family. Today i came in for dinner by myself and i ordered the same combo my daughter gets a $16 combo they added $2 to change the entree to orange chicken. I also, had ordered an egg flower soup togo that was amazing. But my plate was horrible. The chow mein was greasy and flavorless. The rice had literally 3 tiny pieces of bbq pork and barely any veggies. But the most disappointing was the orange chicken. Only 5 small pieces with almost no sauce. I was so sad i didn't want to eat. Like $18 for a plate of mostly chow mein that was the worst I've ever had here. I would've given one star but the soup was great and so hot it was still hot when i got home to Napa. Service was Okay even though the guy has to be asked for ever single thing. Being from the City I wasn't sure if any restaurant in town could match what one would find in San Francisco when it comes to any sort of ethnic or specialty food aside from Italian. Yet when a family member bemoaned how there's no real Chinese food in Sonoma I thought I should investigate and see what is available. Happy Garden I'm pleased to say is a hidden gem of a place. I refer to it that way because it is nestled almost invisible amid the cluster of shops that surround Whole Foods supermarket. My sister wanted to do take out and surprise other family waiting at home after a morning of errands and routine duties. She was paying for it and being on a budget she kept it simple. She got one of the five lunch specials, as take out, similar to the "dinner for two or three-" A,B,C, 1,2,or 3. On such a busy but rainy and rather winter-dreary day we enjoyed Egg Foo Young, Won Ton soup, Pork Fried Rice, Cashew Chicken and Mongolian Beef. A delicious and delightful meal which almost instantly brought me back to San Francisco in happier times. Next time I will definitely get more of the Won Ton Soup, yummy and on a winter day it is comforting. And I will get some pot sticker dumplings, another favorite. Happy Garden is my go-to place for Chinese food in Sonoma! I've been coming here for years and it's always a hit. Today, we got the seaweed soup, broccoli beef, special house chop suey, and spicy beef chow mein. The flavor of the dishes is authentic and not greasy. There are always one or two very sweet ladies working and both have such great energy. Portions are large and definitely enough for a late night snack or lunch the next day. Awful food and terrible atmosphere. We saw cleaning supplies as we walked in. Place had strange smell and cooks were yelling in the kitchen. Still we wanted to try the place. I asked for shrimp chow mein with extra vegetables and emphasized I wanted lots of vegetables and waitress said I should order vegetable chow mein and pay for shrimp extra. The only vegetables were 3 pieces of broccoli and a few slices of carrots! Where were the mushrooms, asparagus, baby corn, red peppers, etc.? The noodles had bad after taste and I suspect were cooked in rancid oil. I ate only 4 bites. I told the waitress I didn't like it and she shrugged and charged us anyway. That is a horrible way to treat customers! We will never return to this very unhappy gardenless restaurant. read more
