I had a wonderful lunch at Amy's Chinese Kitchen in Cotati. I got a big kick out of seeing Chinese Zodiac placemats on the table. I haven't seen these fun placemats in ages. I decided to grab lunch here after seeing the great Yelp rating. The place has a clean and colorful interior. I ordered the Mongolian Beef Lunch plate, and Iced Tea. I noticed this place has very attentive service. The iced tea was served in a carafe with a glass loaded with ice and lemon slices. The tea was strong, so when it was poured over the ice, it was perfect! The lunch included hot & sour soup. The Mongolian Beef lunch plate was presented with a balance of Mongolian Beef and Fried Rice. A fried won ton skin tops it off. Very good food. Very attentive service. Free 2nd glass of iced tea. I decided I wanted Chinese food but wanted to try something different. I placed an order over the phone ( very friendly and helpful). Prices were up there ( but in today's world, what isn't?!) I ordered the cashew chicken, Mongolian beef and veggie chow mein. I was told it would be ready in 15 min and it was. The portions were generous and the food flavorful, and just delicious! The food was ok. My spouse and I ordered fried chicken wings, mu shu pork, shiitake mushrooms and bok choy, and Mongolian beef. The wings had an old chicken taste and the batter was separating from the chicken. The sauces for the entrees had the same brown sauce and was on the verge of being a bit too salty. I've wanted to try this place for years but Just now got to try Amy's. I ask myself why I waited so long. We went there to try two of our favorite dishes. Didn't disappoint in either. We ordered Wor Won Ton Soup and Hong Kong style Cridpy Noodles combination. They were both so delicious. The owner is very kind. The place is a typical looking old school style American Chinese restaurant. But don't let let dissuade you from giving it a try. We loved both of our choices but the soup was outstanding. We have gone multiple times since Amy's been around. On Christmas when barely any other restaurants were open they were very busy and working so hard. I was thankful that they were there and I was going to get some delicious food. The chicken chow mein is very good. The mooshoo chicken is a must if you haven't tried it and you can't go wrong with the Beijing beef. Food is always delicious. The hot and sour soup is perfect on cold days. It was the day after Thanksgiving and we wanted to go out for a bite. I didn't realize that most places are closed the day after the holiday. Third stop did the trick. I remembered we used to often get food to go from here when we were driving into town and my folks enjoyed their dishes. We were happy to see that their doors are still open, especially the day after Thanksgiving. We ordered their lunch specials which come with soup and fried rice or steamed rice. Chow mein is optional with a little extra charge. The gentleman brought us cups of hot and sour soup which hit the spot for us. Each sip was a comfort and a great way to start our meal. Eggplant with garlic sauce & chow mein - great combo of flavors on the eggplant. One of the better places that serves this dish. Green beans with beef & fried rice - tender slices of beef and the green beans were cooked nicely. This dish worked for me. I was afraid this dish and the fried rice, which appeared dark, would be too salty but it was flavored really well. As we enjoyed our meals, I noticed there were many people who stopped by to pick up their to go orders. The gentleman is very efficient and takes care of his customers promptly. He stopped by our table to see if everything was okay and he refilled our waters. This is my mother's and my favorite Chinese food. My mother is very picky and she loves this restaurant.

My wife and I were in Cotati late into the evening and were hungry for dinner. I suggested and was craving Chinese food. I found Amy's Chinese Kitchen on Yelp and the reviews looked great! We decided to give them a try and were pleased. We were greeted at the restaurant entry and seated. We were offered drink orders promptly. We decided on the Manfarin dinner combination for two people. The servings were quite generous! The wontons were warm, crispy and fresh, delicious with the sweet and sour sauce! The wonton soup was very tasty and delicious! The crab rangoons were some of the best I've ever eaten! The sweet and sour pork was perfectly prepared, delicious with lots of veggies too! The almond chicken was perfectly prepared too, both entrees were perfect! The portions were quite large and we brought at least half of it home. The service was very impressive as one man hosted people, took orders, served meals and drinks, and provided outstanding customer service all the way around! So I hate leaving bad reviews for places but I feel like I have to warn people- we got the sizzling rice soup and it was literally full of bugs. We are talking at least 6-7 small mites that I could see with the naked eye. Every large black speck in the soup turned out to be a bug. The bugs were also in both containers of soup so it seems like bugs infested one of the ingredients in the soup and they didn't notice. I absolutely loved this place. We saw it as we from the roadside on the way to our hotel on Tuesday and decided to drive back to it on Wednesday to try it out. When we came we were greeted with a friendly older gentleman. He allowed us to sit where we wanted, so we chose by the window. We were brought glasses of water and we decided to get a large Tsingtao to share while we waited. It was very cold and the glasses were chilled. We placed our order for two lunch specials, they didn't have any tofu for lunch special unfortunately but they did have a couple vegan options. We got the eggplant and the Mongolian beef. While we waited, the man brought us our soup, hot and sour. It was delicious! Lots of tofu and egg and has a very strong flavor. Then unexpectedly the man brought us complimentary veggie spring rolls and fried wontons. So sweet! We got our food and it was delicious. Some of the best eggplant I have ever tried! I wish I had taken a photo of the eggplant. The lobby itself is very cute and has lots of decorations that make you feel as if you are in someone's home. Overall, such a good place to eat. Came around 6pm on a Friday and it wasn't too busy (had about 3 other parties sitting in the restaurant). The waiter was super nice. We decided to order: HK Style noodles with combination meat: SOOO GOOD! I loved the sauce which went very well with the crunchy noodles. The meat and sauce were very flavorful. Noodles were fresh and very crunchy. Mongolian beef: I'm very Picky about this dish as some people make it way too spicy or put too much onions and peppers and no meat. This place did very well and it had enough flavor and spice combo. Hand written signs welcoming you and eraser boards with today's specials. Once you get past that- the service was good - i was seated any place i wanted by a man who was very inviting. i ordered the fried prawns, hot and sour soup and Mu Shu Pork. I had visited previously and really enjoyed the food but got too busy to write a review . Today i'm back and i was not disappointed , i've been looking for place to replace Mandarin in Santa Rosa for a long time since its closure. Was craving salt n pepper shrimp and Amy's Kitchen did not disappoint! Fresh, flavorful, and a good amount of shrimp. Also ordered singapore noodles, and they loaded up the entire container super full. For Service/Ambiance: it's a hole in the wall type of place, and you can tell the building is run down. However, lots of pride was put into decorating everything nicely, whether it was with shiny gold lamé tablecloths or a beautiful framed embroidery piece of peonies.
