Lily Kai is a really nice Chinese Restaurant in Petaluma's Adobe Creek Center. The high Yelp rating is correct for a dine-in experience. Located on Lakeville Highway, just east of Hwy 101, it would make a good place to stop for a nice lunch or dinner. I was there on a warm Saturday, at around 11:30 am. The dining room has a contemporary asian decor. The AC kept the air cool and comfortable. There's several 2,4, and 6 seat tables. Just before lunchtime, the place was 1/3 full with customers. I was seated along the wall. I was offered a menu, and choice of hot tea or ice water. I asked for chopsticks, because the place setting had a fork. I ordered the Mongolian Beef lunch plate w/ fried rice. Also, I asked for an order of (Lightly Breaded) Fried Prawns. Service was excellent. My waiter was very attentive, and served my food as soon as it was ready. He told me if there were any delays. I didn't have to ask for anything. The Fried Prawns were large and plump. They were served with various sauces to choose from. The Mongolian Beef lunch plate had a nice presentation. The portion size was fair. The fried rice was moist, and blended well with the Mongolian Beef. The Mongolian Beef was spicy and tasted just right. Hot 'n Sour soup came with the lunch plate. Lily Kai's recipe for hot 'n sour soup is a little different than what you might get in most other chinese restaurants. They make it with alot of mushrooms. The familiar flavor was there, but it lacked several expected ingredients. Well, as long as it tasted good, I'm okay with it. ----------------------------------------------- So I had a great first time experience here. The plaza has a free shared parking lot. There's a Starbucks Coffee shop in the same plaza. Also, this place is down the street from the Kaiser Medical Offices. Also, they have clean and large restrooms. Great Chinese food (for this far up north). Not comparing it to SF Chinese food because it's not the same caliber. But the food is good, the service is friendly, and the space is clean. Unfortunately, they don't have any round tables for big groups, but they can accommodate at least groups of 8-10 because they put tables together for us to fit us in. We made a res because of our group size, and we had no issues being seated right away. They serve water vs hot tea, but the water glasses are big and they are constantly refilling! Super good service. We ordered a lot of dishes because we were a group of 8. We called ahead and special ordered jai (also called Buddha's delight) which is a common dish for Chinese new year. It's clear rice noodles with veggies and tofu skin. It was delicious! We also ordered the seafood platter, beef chow fun (small charge for the wide noodles instead of mein), salt and pepper fish, green onion pancake appetizer, Manchurian beef, another veggie platter (I think it was just a deluxe veggie dish), honey walnut prawns, and basil chicken which was not spicy in my opinion. I grabbed some take-out from here, the service was quick! It seems like they do more takeout than sit down business. But it is beautiful inside. I got the pork fried rice, chicken chow mein, broccoli beef and moo shu pork. The moo shu was the standout, with the delicious plum sauce! Yum! I'm so surprised that after all these years I've never written a review for Lily Kai. Shame on me! I've been coming here since it first opened in Petaluma and have always had a good meal whether it be lunch or dinner. My family and I have frequented Lily Kai throughout the years for birthdays, anniversaries and just because. We also made sure to come here for take out during Covid to show our support but also to have some good food. I recently came in with friends and was pleasantly surprised to see that they had a new menu with some new added foods such as 2 different lamb dishes, etc., and they even had a dessert on the menu! On this particular day we had the potstickers which were delicious and seemed bigger to me! Also we shared sweet & sour pork, mushu pork, chicken & green beans and fried rice. While in the early days of being pregnant, not a whole lot of food sounded good to me, but for some reason I could always get down beans and rice or chow mein. Super weird to me because those aren't meals I usually eat, but that's just one of the joys of pregnancy. During this timeframe, hubs ordered us dinners from Lily Kai so many times. Most of the time we got what we ordered, but a couple times we ended up with random other items in the bag and only figured it out once he was home with them. Regardless of the orders, the food was always good, seemed higher quality than most of the Chinese restaurants in the area, and one of the best parts for me was the ability to reheat the leftovers and still want to eat them. Once I was up and mobile, we did go together to pick up our order (I've never dined in house in person), and the biggest downside other than orders being wrong is the parking lot. What a mess! Literally every time we have been there in person the lot is chaotic with people sniping parking spots, driving dangerously to get their Starbucks order, or cutting people off getting in or out of the main lot. Have been coming here for many years. Everything from the service to the menu were exceptional. Had Wor Won Ton Soup, Pot Stickers, Salt & Pepper Fish and Shanghai Noodles. Every dish was fantastic. Had leftovers for the next day and they tasted just as good. My wife said we should order the same items next time. You want Chinese food when you are in in Petaluma? This is the place to go! We shared the green onion pancakes (excellent!) and the crab wontons (not crispy enough). I would order the pancakes again. I had the wor wonton soup and the dumplings were obviously fresh made and not overcooked as often times they are! The BBQ pork in the soup was theeeee best I have ever had and when I go back I will order the BBQ on its own if that is an option! My partner had the seafood noodle soup and said it was the best he has ever had and he tries it whenever it is on a menu so that says a lot!!! I tasted my friends orange chicken and was disappointed. He moved to Missouri, where he swears there is no good Chinese food well Lili Kai did not disappoint Orange chicken the best anywhere .. spicy green beans always a favorite. The sauce is perfect. They're just crispy. Singapore noodles his personal favorite, and it was perfect the basil chicken wow my personal favorite. And then there's a walnut that's a delicacy. I think we have rice fried rice and some spring rolls. We started with tea, which was absolute perfection. The food is 11/10 it could not be better. Best place in Sonoma County, but I think it's the best place including San Francisco. The service was impeccable . We had a reservation they meet us at the front door doors open, helping us in with our mom in the wheelchair . They escorted his room table and the service was amazing. Revisiting this wonderful restaurant was a very good experience and I'm really glad my Covid experience did not dissuade me from coming back! (During Covid prices were higher, prep time was understandably slow, and food quality was below par) Anyhoo, I ordered Singapore Noodles, replacing pork with string beans, which turned out to be nice and crunchy without being chewy. This dish is a trifecta of shrimp, chicken and pork and deliciously seasoned, NOT greasy noodles. Ambience here is always authentic and calm. Mine was a to-go order, so I spent less than a minute at the front counter. Service was efficient and friendly. Lily Kai is now open seven days a week, which is really great when you're hankering for good Chinese food! There's usually a fair amount of parking in the adjoining lot. FIrst time delivery from Lily Kai. We're a bit outside the normal range and were grateful for DoorDash partnership. The food was fresh, flavorful, and well prepared. We tried the Pork Buns, the potstickers, spring rolls, crispy rice soup (kudos for the packaging), the eggplant, Singapore noodles, and Mongolian beef. I greatly appreciated the inclusion of the hot mustard sauce as asked for! We missed five stars only because the portion on the beef dish was heavy on onions, light on beef but that could have been a serving issue. The service was very good. We ordered 5 dishes. The combination fried rice was my favorite. It had shrimp, beef, onions, and rice and maybe more that I didn't notice. The chicken corn chowder was really good but you could request less salt if you prefer it that way. I also really liked the honey walnut prawn as the prawns were so big and walnut was really good. There was also pineapple in the honey walnut prawn dish and that was interesting. We're always on the lookout for tasty Chinese cuisine and Lily Kai did not disappoint. The staff were some of the friendliest I have met in the area. The service was very attentive. Prices are great and portions are very generous. I got the General's shrimp which had 7 or eight large prawns, a few broccoli florets and tasty sauce. We also got shrimp with deluxe veggies and shrimp with lobster sauce. Everything was very fresh and tasty. Veggie spring rolls were crispy and light. Hot and sour soup was good too. On my back to Sac from Bodega Bay and was craving Chinese food! My mom googled places near where we were on the freeway and this place came up with pretty good reviews. I'm very picky about my Chinese food and wasn't sure but thought I would try it! The experience was top-notch from start to finish. We called in our takeout order and we were greeted by a kind and professional voice taking our order. For appetizers, we ordered the crab cheese puffs with the most savory stuffing and the perfect crispy wonton casing. We also ordered the pork buns. Sweet and savory with the most cloud like puffy pastry. They were so kind to put the sauce on the side for the walnut prawns. Not thick and battered, but just perfect with a coating of cornstarch to give them the crisp. So fresh and delicious. We had fried rice that had delicious vegetables and chunks of eggs. And we also had the vegetable egg fu young. The sauce I could've eaten like soup. I'm actually salivating as I'm writing this. I've been wanting to try Lily Kai for quite some time and was excited to finally try it. A friend and I stopped in on a Saturday around noon and this place was busy! They have a nice dining room with lots of seating. The menu is very expansive and includes appetizers, soups, entrees that are beef, pork, chicken, seafood and vegetarian. We both ordered from the lunch special as it was the best bang for our buck with a lot of food too. The lunch special came with soup of the day, a crispy spring roll and your choice of rice or chow mein to accompany the entree. I ordered the honey walnut prawns with fried rice. It was a cool, fall evening and a big bowl of warm wonton soup was just what I needed. And since I like going out to a restaurant that not only has great food, service and a beautiful welcoming interior, Lily Kai was it. As we enter we are instantly greeted and showed to our table and over my friends shoulders are two diners, each with a large bowl of wonton soup, I can literally see the plump wontons floating in the warm broth. We sit and are given the menus and I'm easily distracted with the selection. Everything sounds delicious & my appetite is wet. The attentive waitress brings over the requested warm tea. With all the offerings I manage to stray from the wonton soup, instead we order Hot & Sour Soup; Mongolian Beef, Basil Chicken dish, Vegetable Chow Mein, Steam Rice. It's a lot of food but my intention was to bring some of the yummy home. The Hot & Sour soup is a thick & tangy concoction with pieces of shredded chicken throughout, included were sliced mushrooms. I wish they would have been cooked into the soup. Instead of an after thought. Next is the classic Mongolian beef, one of my favorites, spicy and full of Asian spices. On to the Basil Chicken, each piece is coated with a flavorful sauce, loads of chicken and veggies, again the veggies weren't as cooked as I would like. The Chow Mein was fabulous, long, thick noodles covered in a golden, brown sauce with plenty of veggies, so not to worry bout the carb count. The hot steam rice was a little extra but perfect for soaking up all the intricate spices & sauces. Lily Kai is the perfect place to dine in, beautiful decor, great service and lots of seating indoors or outdoors. And of course they have takeout and use a popular delivery service. read more

Sometimes when my husband and I can't decide where we want to go for dinner, we enter a few different types of restaurants into a game spinner app and let it choose the place for us! Last night, Lily Kai was the winner. My husband had been to Lily Kai previously and said great things but I had never been. We were seated right away by a warm and welcoming host. She immediately brought us glasses of water and a kettle full of warm tea as we requested. We ordered their sweet and sour chicken, Mongolian beef, deluxe vegetables, and steamed white rice. I was surprised at how quickly the food arrived. Everything was very fresh and delicious. The vegetables (bok choy, carrot, zucchini, mushroom, broccoli, asparagus, snow pea, and water chestnut) were tender but still crisp and the light garlic sauce they were in was terrific. My husband said his Mongolian beef was some of the best he's had, though a bit sweeter than what he was used to. The sweet and sour had great flavor and the chicken was cooked nicely (nice thick cuts of white meat, not at all dry). The tea had a very floral flavor which wasn't my favorite but I still enjoyed several cups. We definitely enjoyed our meal and happily provide our recommendation to this lovely restaurant! read more

Lily Kai has always been a favorite until today. The food was excellent as always. The wait staff not so much Our waitress started out by not being very friendly .... No smile....not welcoming.... But then when she delivered our food she changed and was nice. While trying to eat our food. The bus lady came to our table 3 times to ask if we wanted a box when we weren't even half finished with our meal. We finally felt so rushed we decided to leave and she came back to clear the table and broke a water glass full of water on our table and got my friend all wet. There were probably only four tables occupied....not at all busy No way to treat patrons! read more
