2/5 Got a drink and a pretzel before hopping off to world of color. Pretzel was dry and hard so for sure get the cheese sauce to go with it. The cocktail was pretty fun and tasty but a tiny bit on the boozy side. It's honestly not worth the stop unless you're desperate or if you're just already here.

Sonoma Terrace: Relaxing drinks and a snack

Not a bad place to sit and refresh for a while. It's a wine bar and/or beer garden. We normally come for the wine, champagne and pretzels. Just a great stop during our visit to the parks. Located across from the lagoon and Pixar Pier, nestled in next to the Wine Country Trattoria. I feel like the seating area could use a little updating or upgrading, but it is still shady and open. There are half a dozen or so wines to choose from, a small selection of beers, hard cider, a couple mixed drinks... and a Bavarian pretzels (with or without a cheese cup). Very simple menu, yet something for everyone, even for the non-alcoholic drinkers there are bottled sodas and waters. Drinks will cost you $10-15 and a pretzel is under $10... cheese cup is a buck and a half extra. I do wish the pretzels were softer and warmer, but they do the trick. During the Covid times you can only order items through the app then wait until your items are ready and head to the window. Even then there's a bit of a wait for your purchases to be ready. They aren't super fast, but we're here to relax so really it's fine. Just find a seat and place your order... then enjoy. Nothing too hoity toity with this place, but it is an easy stop to relax and unwind a bit. Cheers!!!

I've always just trekked past this place, mostly because I'm not much of a drinker. Instead we came here for Oogie Boogie Bash for their dessert dining with parade viewing seating. You have to come super early, regardless of this RSVP because there's 3 different layers of seating. One closest (where people can still sit on the ground in front of you), and 2 layers in the back with tall, "studio" style chair seating. They gave us complimentary Dasani water bottles. For $60+ we got a small plate of desserts and one drink. The fruit punch came with whipped cream and was a sweet treat. It was a bit more than what you can fit in a Dixie cup. I honestly found the desserts pretty mid... -Gummy centipedes that you can get gummy worm substitutes anywhere -Chocolate mousse (not bad) but it was impossible to take this back home. It just splattered into pieces. -Small red velvet bundt cake. Not bad but nothing to write home about. -A sugar coated piece of fudge (probably my favorite) -Raspberry streusel (very small piece), it was alright -Rice Krispy treat. It looks cute, but it's kinda basic. I don't think this was worth the cost when I could have just mobile ordered more food for a lesser cost and parked myself for closer seating for the parade.

I'm not sure when or if I will ever find a decent pretzel at a theme park, (many people say the cream cheese pretzel is the best so maybe that will satisfy my cravings?) but for now, the Bavarian pretzels are just sad. I swung by Sonoma Terrace around 4:30pm and ordered the pretzel with beer cheese sauce and a Golden Road Blondie draft, totaling about $20 after a Magic Key discount. The beer, luckily, was great. Cold, crisp, light, refreshing, and tasted great. The cheese was meh, typical packaged cheese sauce. The pretzel had decent dough but it was just plain, dry, and besides the rock salt, had no other flavoring. Pretzels should have a really good bread flavor without a bunch of rock salt, and sadly these just don't cut it.

Maybe we were there on an off day, but Sonoma Terrace (for a sit down lunch) left us feeling like we missed something. For starters, seating is inside an area that seems like it could use some magical remodeling. I get the Italian vibe, but it seemed dated. The walls and furniture could use some freshening up. The one menu item I was excited to try, The Peppermint Martini, which was on the online menu wasn't even available. When we asked, the server indicated they never received the ingredients. Well that's a drag! Out server must have missed the Disney orientation because he was just such a drag to be around. He seemed like he needed that Peppermint Martini more than me! Food just wasn't in line with other places, as far as quality. There are far better places in Disney's California Adventures.

Last night we tried the meatball sandwich that came in a bag and it was surprisingly great. If you're in the park and need something fast that's going to fill you up but not make you disgustingly full then the meatball sandwich is the way to go. We also snatched the last De Vil-ishly Delectable Wings which had black sesame seeds on them and they were delicious as well. It's Halloween time right now so they feature an Ace pumpkin cider which was AMAZING. Also, the Underworld Libation is a rum cocktail that I would recommend as it's not super sweet even though it comes with cotton candy! I usually come here for the alcohol, but hopefully they'll keep the meatball sandwich as a permanent menu item because it's perfect. Plenty of seating in the area and again, great place to people watch and relax. Now they have sofas here which is even more relaxing than eating at a regular restaurant.

    Avocado cheesesteak

On the left side of the Italian restaurant. Pretty quick because I don't think many come here with the limited menu. Avocado cheesesteak was a little dry but nice mild spice flavor. Pineapple passion is sweet and tasty! Gonna have to come back for the Bavarian pretzel one of these times..

The beer is the Pilsner and is cold and refreshing. The pretzel isn't warm or as tasty as I'd prefer but it looks lovely. It's chewy which is a plus. It could use loads more salt. The lounge a nice place to sit for a spell, relax, and people watch. The service was efficient and highly helpful in choosing a beverage.

    Hazy IPA - $11
    Kevin W.

Fastest place to order a beer in CAA! All beer is 11 bucks. Order on the app, line up, and they pour your beer right away. You do not have to follow the pick up time. You can order 2 beers per person at a time. Hazy IPA - $11

My favorite place to grab a quick beer in DCA! Lovely relaxing atmosphere with tons of seating for great people watching and little secluded from the madness. On top of that they really have the best selection of non basic beers even if the prices have significantly crept up. From craft stouts to hazy IPAs they have a little something for everyone including champagne and wine as well. Every drink aficionado should come by here at least once.

    Meatball Sandwich

Much like many I've walked by Sonoma Terrace a dozen times not giving it the light of day, but after a recent "well why not" mindset I'd say I'm a true fan for life. Based on the offerings I'm inclined to say it's more for beer and lighter snacks, but where isn't nowadays? I came with a hankering to try finally the meatball sandwich. It comes out in a heat bag so at least it put me at ease about getting amass produced cold sandwich. There are 3 large Italian meatballs and honestly it really is a meal in itself. The melted mozzarella was not salty and it coated the baked Italian roll quite abundantly. Like a weirdo I ate the meatballs separately which left me virtually with cheese bread at the end. Happily thanks to the steaming of the roll the bread was soft and easily pulled away and left with gooey pulls of cheese and that made this bambino jump for joy. I really wish there was a vegan version of the meatball like they had during Pixar Fest, but this equally as appreciated. Oh Pacific Wharf is day hold onto your hats because you certainly do have a hit on your hands here!

    Pineapple Passion!

This was a go-to spot on our recent trip to DCA. Quiet, not busy, and the staff was super friendly. The Pineapple Passion was super yummy and got the job done!

They had two bars open AND a booth outside selling canned drinks. There is lots of seating inside and outside. It was honestly hard for me to wrap my head around the size of the place! I also liked that they had multiple restrooms around the building. They have a very impressive beer and seltzer collection. You can get various sizes or a whole pitcher for the table. You do order food outside separately at the X Eats area. This is a food truck setup, but they did have an impressive amount of options. Food took a little while (understandable given the volume of people there), but it came out hot and fresh. The pizza had a nice flavor that featured jalapeño and pineapple. They also had a featured dessert that was a banana egg roll with ice cream and a wonderful ube syrup. Overall, I had a great time and would love to come back again!

We attended a special Chartreuse tasting event at Strong Water which was being held in honor of…read moreChartreuse week and Chartreuse Day 1605 (May 16), the annual celebration of Chartreuse's origins and history. The tasting featured a great lineup of green and yellow Chartreuse paired with small bites. It concluded with a complementary Chartreuse-based cocktail from one of five recipes. Brand ambassador Taylor guided the event and began by telling us about the unique history of Chartreuse. The tasting started out with a small spoonful of Vegetal Elixir Chartreuse to warm up the palate. This is the base spirit of both green and yellow Chartreuse and clocks in at 138 proof. It was surprisingly not harsh, but immediately kicked my salivary glands into overdrive. I didn't even know that vintages of Chartreuse was a thing, but Taylor walked us through tasting three different vintages of both yellow and green Chartreuse, and it was surprising how different they were. The lineup concluded with more rare varietals of the green elixir 1605 and yellow cuvee. Great job, thanks Taylor! Chef Kling presented each small bite which included a crispy Icelandic cod, a roasted beet crostino, and a lamb slider. All of them had a five star list of ingredients and were delicious. Strong Water is known for their excellent cocktails, but their food is also great. For my cocktail at the end of the event, I had the Bar Flower (Green Chartreuse, Crème de Cacao, Pineapple, Lime). This was so good, with the herbal and chocolate flavors perfectly balanced. It was served with a flaming lime half. This was such a great event! Chartreuse retails for around $100 a bottle, and the higher-end varieties cost even more. At just $45 per person, this event was an amazing bargain. Strong Water frequently hosts great events, so keep an eye on their social media for upcoming dates. I really love Chartreuse, so I went back a few days later on the last day of Chartreuse week to try a few of the other limited time cocktails. I started out with their twist on a Grasshopper (Chartreuse, Crème de Menthe, Chili Liqueur, Crème de Cacao, Cream, Cane, $22). This was a great classic Grasshopper, but the Chartreuse added a herbal complexity, and there is a dash of heat on the finish from the chili liqueur. Next I had the Flare Gun (Yellow Chartreuse, Overproof Rum, Italian Bitter, Lime, Cane, $20). The yellow Chartreuse definitely comes through, but it's softer and has a light sweetness, unlike the green variety. Even though it contains overproof rum, it is perfectly balanced and not boozy at all. I usually don't like bitter drinks, but the bitterness was at a perfect light level. I finished off with the Tales from the Black Lagoon which is my favorite drink here, and it's also a favorite of many of the bartenders. All three cocktails were a home run. Chartreuse is an expensive spirit, so those drinks cost a little more than average. Shout out to Karen, Joey, Edgar, Jordan, and Ying for excellent hospitality, as always. Strong Water is our favorite place. We can't wait to go back!

I like IPA's. They have the best IPA's I've ever had. It compares to the best "Pliny" beer. (…read morePliny for president 2024 in my opinion) Also compares to "Lunch" from Maine beer company. Beer is a little steep buy I don't mind paying a little extra when I know I'm going to love it! I usually go to the Everywhere in Orange but visited the one in Portland Oregon. It was really nice! The Orange location is great. The bartenders and really friendly and helpful. They have other beers that have won awards too!

They have both a parking lot and street parking, so parking wasn't really an issue. There's a good mix of indoor and outdoor seating with both small and large tables, plus plenty of bar seating both inside and out. The space is very clean, modern, and aesthetically pleasing. They also have TVs inside and play music, but not so loud that you can't hold a conversation. Workers were friendly and helpful. I tried two different hazy IPAs and both were great. They also have rotating food trucks. I saw a lot of people ordering some wild looking drinks topped with whipped cream or even ice cream, which looked interesting. Overall a really solid brewery and I'd definitely come back.
