Sonora Hotdog. A little messy but daaaaaang good!
    Nick F.

This is my absolute go to for Friday nights when I can't decide what I want or don't wanna cook. I've been living in my house for about 8 years now and I don't remember when they first showed up here but I've definitely paid them numerous visits and watched them grow. I love Mexican style hotdogs. Every place loads it up a little bit differently and I can confidently say I like this one the bests they also offer a couple variations of burgers, bacon wrapped peppers and a variety of bottled beverages. The husband and wife that own it are super nice people. More recently they've got some help with running things which is nice to see them take turns getting to have a break. I haven't tried their burgers because I love the hotdog so much. The hot dog buns are baked fresh from scratch and are oh so soft. If you want to stop by and check them out they're typically stationed by the Jiffy Lube on the corner of Oddie and Sullivan Thursday-Saturday. They have an instagram that they post when they're out or are posting up at a different location for an event or something.

The salad was a hearty portion of fresh tomatoes and burrata. I chose the seafood risotto for My main course. The risotto was delightful! All in all the food was terrific-but let's talk about BRIAN! What a delightful human. He was warm, engaging, and attentive. Thank you for your amazing above and beyond service. Sort of caught off guard by how busy it was . I did make reservations and was seated pretty quickly. Loved the service we received, our waiter (sorry, can't remember the name) always showed up at the right moment. It was a little noisy but not to the point where you couldn't have a conversation with anyone at the table. We first got a basket of assorted bread and i scarfed down a few of the corn bread bites. I ordered a nojito (non-alcoholic version of a mojito) and it was pretty tasty. I had a Cesar salad and it was tasty. It did come with an anchovy which I'm not a big fan of. Still good though... I had the duck and while it was good, just had me wanting more. And I had a side of French fries cause reasons...Now they did taste good and were fresh but also a bit soggy. Overall a great experience and will visit again in the future.

I guess I needed to drink it faster! The apps were solid. The pretzel bites and beer cheese kicked ass and the hummus was excellent. So far so good. I ordered the 6oz. sirloin, medium rare, and boy did I learn my lesson. I've eaten here about 20-25 times and should have stuck with a burger or something that didn't require effort. That sirloin was so well done they must have cooked it twice. It was like eating a middle school burger with a knife and fork. This place is decent. Just stick to burgers and wraps and you'll be fine.

The atmosphere is small and quaint and holds some history. Built in 1893 and at one time a wedding chapel. We enjoyed a few appetizers, on the happy hour menu that were quite good. And ended sharing the Barramundi with seasonal veggies. Super light not heavy and prepared perfectly. Lauren was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. She made sure we were taken care of, and everything came out in a timely manner. Definitely a spot we will go back to and I highly recommend.

This restaurant is my family and I's restaurant-to-go to for good burgers and also late night cravings. Unfortunately, they released a new rules, and kids are no longer allowed to dine-in their restaurant, specifically less than 21 year old. So you've been warned guys, this restaurant is no longer a family-friendly place. I'm not coming back here if they restrict people or choose people who can eat. They can just have a space for non-smokers and drinkers. So no, I'm not coming back here, and don't waste your time coming there if you have a toddler or teenager with you. The service is always good, and the staffs are always friendly and accommodating. It just too bad that we cannot dine-in there if we have the kids with us. I hope they reconsider or put a designated drinking area for gamblers/alcohol drinkers.

It's family owned by a father, brother, and sister, which adds to its welcoming and authentic feel. I also loved learning that the building has historical significance. Be sure to check out the plaque outside if you visit. The customer service was outstanding. Zach greeted us as soon as we walked in, seated us quickly, and took the time to explain the menu and answer our questions. His friendly personality and knowledge made us feel right at home. I had a tough time deciding between the Homegrown Burger and the Alaskan Salmon, but I went with the burger. It was cooked exactly how I requested, juicy, flavorful, and easily one of the better burgers I've had in Reno. I'd give it a 9.2/10. My wife ordered the macaroni and cheese. She thought the flavor was delicious, but the sauce was a little thinner than she prefers, so she gave it a 6/10. Even so, she still finished the entire plate, which says a lot about how good it tasted. For dessert, we shared the apple cobbler with vanilla ice cream, and it was the perfect way to end the meal. It wasn't overly sweet. The warm cobbler paired perfectly with the cold, creamy ice cream. To top it all off, Zuck even gave us a mini tour of the restaurant, which made the experience feel even more personal. Great food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere make Homegrown Gastropub a place I'll definitely be returning to. If you're in Reno and looking for a locally owned restaurant with character and quality food, this place is absolutely worth a visit!

I will start by saying my sandwich and beer were tasty and good. They will boast all local ingredients, but 30 bucks for a cheese steak on ciabatta bread is steep. The burger my wife had was the same price and nothing special to note exept she ordered no tomato and it came with tomato. Both of our fries were soggy and cold. A draft beer for 16 dollars is also more than expected. Our bartender was professional and chatty. He did pull a nice bottle of tequila down for us to admire, and told us about some other fancy top shelf stuff they had. I appreciate they were even open. Service was great, everyone looked taken care of. The place looked clean; and the food looked great everywhere, ours just flopped. All of the other patrons there were probably late 50s and up at 2pm on Memorial day. This is one of the most expensive underwhelming lunches I've had ever had in Reno. I am sure if we had said something they would have given us new fries, but that isnt the point. You have a price set well above average so I expect that it will be executed suprbly.
