They got SLAMMED shortly thereafter and the waitstaff were hustling their butts off! The lunchtime conference rush pushed back the meal prep/cook time, so I ordered chips and salsa to eat while I waited. My chicken quesadilla was so good! Good flavor, good spice/heat, and I dipped some pieces in salsa. I was able to close out my tab quickly, so hopefully another conference goer could take my seat. The staff were incredible. This place is sooooo good! My husband and I have not been able to stop talking about it since returning from our trip to Minneapolis. The food is delicious, and the drinks are strong. This was my first time coming here and I was pretty excited to try out a spot I can walk to! My friend and I decided to come Saturday night which was pretty busy. We waited a couple minutes for staff to come over and get us a table. Our server took our order and grabbed us drinks and we decided to order shrimp ceviche to start out with. We both ordered drinks with Serrano infused tequila which had quite the kick to them. When the ceviche came out we weren't brought any silverware, napkins or plates and we couldn't track down our server to ask for some so it was messy to eat. The ceviche was good but it seemed like a lot more onions and cucumber than shrimp. Once our mains came out we finally were given silverware but it was plastic which seemed odd for a sit down restaurant. The whole time we were eating our waiter didn't offer more water and it took some time for him to ask if we needed anything else or wanted to grab the bill. Our tacos were amazing but we were surprised it didn't come with salsa. The tacos were good enough that would make us come back but the service was such a disappointment. I had a great time at Sonora's happy hour. Such a cute place with Spanish/tropical vibes. It was raining so I could not enjoy the patio out front, but I could see myself enjoying that another time. There is a large bar and a few different seating areas. I love the large Frida painting and beaded masks they put up. Service was also really great. Our server was really nice and helpful explaining the menu. Happy hour does end at 5, so it can be cutting it close for many but it's worth it! I got 2 $6 margs, tacos are $4 each and they are massive! Jam packed with meat and toppings. So flavorful. I also added their habanero verde salsa and that took things over the top. I can't wait to try more tacos! I tried the pastor and fried shrimp. The pastor was epic. The shrimp was a bit hard to eat. I ended up cutting up the shrimp and eating some separate. Not complaining about the amount, just stating. Also, the shrimp was an interesting texture. Almost looked like imitation crab when I looked inside a piece but it tasted good. Just haven't experienced that before. My friend got elote which was so yummy. It comes on top of coconut rice and the classic elote toppings. They also give you a knife to cut the corn off the cob if you like. My friend eats her tacos and elote like a bowl so you have options! I also got the yuca fries with chimichurri and a cilantro aioli. The texture of the yuca was perfect, crispy outside and mushy inside. They could have used some salt, but they were tasty with the sauces. I wanted extra chimi! Omg and how could I forget, the tres leches cake is DIVINE. So light, perfectly sweet and creamy with touches of cinnamon. I could eat the whole cake. Overall this place is super cute with great vibes and food. Amazing happy hour deals. Went for happy hour on a Friday. We went kind of early so it wasn't busy at all. They do have a pretty decent happy hour menu. We ordered the street corn which comes on a bed of rice. A few chicken tinga street tacos, fries, a drink & the tres leches cake. Everything was really good especially the cake. Our waitress was really nice and the bartender checked in on us from time to time to help. The space was really nice and they have patio for the nicer months. I'm glad I found this taco spot on a recent trip to Minneapolis. The group of friends I came with have some specific dietary restrictions and preferences and everyone in our group was able to find something they loved. I still drool over the thought of Sonora's fish tacos. I was impressed by the amount of fish in in the taco and it wasn't mushy like some fish tacos I've had before. The decor was cool and the restaurant was clean. I'm knocking them down slightly on the service as it was rather slow for the restaurant not being very busy. Additionally my son's food came after almost every at my table finished their food. I believe there is an unwritten but widely accepted rule in the service industry that kids food should come first if possible. As we walked out of the restaurant we noticed our server in the kitchen drinking a beer so not sure if that was why our service was slow or if his shift just ended. All in all the food outweighed the service snafus and if in the area again I'd give them another shot to deliver on the service front. read more

The tacos were great! I would love to come back here. The fish taco was delicious . They all have a good unique sauce. Let me tell you, i over order because i always thing three isnt enough, but these tacos were packed! It was so yummy, i would come back to get more. All the meat, such as steak, pork and chicken was not dry, they were juicy. The spice is there and it goes so well with the sauce. The churro was good fresh with the ice cream and chocolate sauce. The nacho had a lot of meat and spice. They did not play with the guacamole! The empanadas were so packed with beef and go so well with the green sauce! The services were amazing! It took just as long for her to return for us to get food. The food was OK, but not some thing I would necessarily return for. It's your typical Text mix type of cuisine. The fish taco was good and so was the quesadilla. Despite the menu saying, it comes with sour cream, they made me pay extra for it. some friends who got a bowl said they enjoyed it. I wouldn't recommend taking this to go or having leftovers as it did not pull up well. We also ordered a few drinks, including a strawberry margarita And a cocktail off of the menu. I rarely right a yelp review. Something either has to be incredible or absolutely abysmal for me to have to say something. I went to this restaurant on 1/31 with a group of friends for dinner. They had already arrived and we were joining just a bit later. When we get to the restaurant the door is locked (there is a sign saying they are keeping it closed due to ICE which I totally understand) but there wasn't anybody at the door to let us in. It was -3 degrees and we stood there trying to flag someone down to open the door which we finally got in. Like I said, I totally support the safety of the employees with everything going on, but I would suggest having someone monitor the doors as these temperatures are extreme. Anyways, I sit down at the bar and order a skinny margarita. When the bartender came back, I took a sip and it was very clearly a jalapeño margarita (my entire group tried it and agreed). Also, not a big deal, but when I mentioned this to the bartender he was VERY clearly annoyed at me. He remade the margarita and then took our food order. I ordered 2 tacos (they were "mid" at best, but honestly I didn't care we were all having a great time). I had to leave early to take care of my dog and flagged him down to get my check. I asked if I could cash out. I hand him my card and then he hands me the device to tip.... It said "$73.49".... I said to him "I only had 2 tacos and a marg, why is it so high?"... he responded with "oh I thought you were picking up the tab for everyone" to which I replied I only asked for myself TJ close out. The next response was "sorry I already ran your card, it went through"... well ok. I decided to get up and just leave because this was such a terrible experience. I have made it my mission to only eat local and support business who I know are having tough times with this political climate we are in. But after the experience I had tonight, I will NEVER eat here again. I've been to this restaurant many times as my friend lives above it, but honestly, this was the last. Initially I ordered the fish taco...delicious. So I then ordered shrimp. There are no complaints. The prickly pear cocktail was very spicy but tasty...it didn't stop me from finishing. I am usually not a fan of chimichangas, but this was delightful. It comes with consome, which paired perfectly. The Al Pastor was flavorful and delicious. It's topped with lettuce, pico and onion so that made up for the fact that the only thing inside the chimi is the pastor. Atmosphere was relaxed, but vibrant with fun decor. Server was friendly and warm. Never seemed rushed and always made sure I was taken care of. *The only knock I would give it is that someone had dropped a glass directly in front of the door so there was shattered glass everywhere. When I went to leave 30 or so minutes later it was cleaned up, but only partially and much of the glass was just swept into the sidewalk.
