    Steak Taco
    Mark M.

Stopped in for pick up. Food was ready and couldn't wait to get back to my room to try. Chorizo bean mixture was delicious along with the housemade tortillas. Pastor tacos had pineapple chunks and was more sweet than spice. Steak taco was seasoned well. $6 for street tacos is the only ? Yeah they're good but not worth the $6. All in all, I'd come back on tuesdays for the $4 taco special

Easily tap found a seat for one on a busy weeknight. Food was served within five minutes of ordering. I love the layout of the restaurant. It gives it a very authentic, luxury cuisine feel. Less than five minute walk from Hyatt Regency in DT Minneapolis.

Chilaquiles Verdes Delicious. I always love chilaquiles. Tortilla chips were too soggy.

Walked by here the other day and grabbed dinner. It was a Monday after normal dinner rush so the place wasn't busy. Honestly I felt bad for the bartender because he was the only server there, so hats off to him. The restaurant itself is a modern Mexican bar. A wide variety and selection of tequila. Full bar. Overall the ambiance is a modern cantina. Clean with outdoor seating. Small restaurant but they make use of the space. Open kitchen.

Esquites - A bit too heavy on the Mayo
    Deborah W.

My friend and I stopped by around 2 PM on a Wednesday afternoon. When we arrived the space was pretty empty so we were able to choose our own tables. Our server was very kind and hospitable during the whole meal. Food also came out very quickly. We ordered: -ESQUITES: Flavor was ok but it was way too heavy on the Mayo. And would have been nice if it came with some to dip into the Esquites since it was so Mayo heavy that it turned out to be more like a dip. -NACHOS WITH CHORIZO: Really tasty! Had a good portion even for two people sharing. All in all, a nice option for lunch in the area!

Came in becuase it was rated well on Yelp and near our hotel. It was taco Tuesday so certain tacos were 4$. I had 3: Shrimp tempura 5/5 unique and flavorful! Chicken Rojo 4/5 Fish taco 4/5 Atmosphere was festive and fun. Decor was neat. Apparently happy hour is 4-5pm l, for future reference. We saw someone ordering the elote corn (which comes on coconut rice and smothered in a green sauce) and that definitely peaked my interest.

I had a great time at Sonora's happy hour. Such a cute place with Spanish/tropical vibes. It was raining so I could not enjoy the patio out front, but I could see myself enjoying that another time. There is a large bar and a few different seating areas. I love the large Frida painting and beaded masks they put up. Service was also really great. Our server was really nice and helpful explaining the menu. Happy hour does end at 5, so it can be cutting it close for many but it's worth it! I got 2 $6 margs, tacos are $4 each and they are massive! Jam packed with meat and toppings. So flavorful. I also added their habanero verde salsa and that took things over the top. I can't wait to try more tacos! I tried the pastor and fried shrimp. The pastor was epic. The shrimp was a bit hard to eat. I ended up cutting up the shrimp and eating some separate. Not complaining about the amount, just stating. Also, the shrimp was an interesting texture. Almost looked like imitation crab when I looked inside a piece but it tasted good. Just haven't experienced that before. My friend got elote which was so yummy. It comes on top of coconut rice and the classic elote toppings. They also give you a knife to cut the corn off the cob if you like. My friend eats her tacos and elote like a bowl so you have options! I also got the yuca fries with chimichurri and a cilantro aioli. The texture of the yuca was perfect, crispy outside and mushy inside. They could have used some salt, but they were tasty with the sauces. I wanted extra chimi! Omg and how could I forget, the tres leches cake is DIVINE. So light, perfectly sweet and creamy with touches of cinnamon. I could eat the whole cake. Overall this place is super cute with great vibes and food. Amazing happy hour deals. Everything is food you want to eat and not just the lame apps people don't want to order anyway. Please check this place out and keep its doors open!

Chicken rojo tacos were good the fresh orange salsa and the Arbol aioli really set them apart. The Sonora margarita was delicious. I didn't like the esquites, too much mayo. The service was wonderful.

Went for happy hour on a Friday. We went kind of early so it wasn't busy at all. They do have a pretty decent happy hour menu. We ordered the street corn which comes on a bed of rice. A few chicken tinga street tacos, fries, a drink & the tres leches cake. Everything was really good especially the cake. Our waitress was really nice and the bartender checked in on us from time to time to help. The space was really nice and they have patio for the nicer months. The parking is a bit rough in this area, all metered, there's a metered lot right across the street which would probably be the safest bet.

A great spot for delicious Mexican cuisine! We stopped by for dinner while in town for a conference and were impressed by the experience. The space has a cool, industrial-modern vibe that feels upbeat and inviting. Our server was fantastic--friendly, attentive, and helpful with menu recommendations. The food itself was flavorful and plentiful. We shared the pork pastor nachos, which were super filling and delicious. Overall, we had a wonderful time and would definitely return if we're ever in the area to try more of the menu. If you're nearby, it's worth a visit!

    The decor is legit!

I'm glad I found this taco spot on a recent trip to Minneapolis. The group of friends I came with have some specific dietary restrictions and preferences and everyone in our group was able to find something they loved. I still drool over the thought of Sonora's fish tacos. I was impressed by the amount of fish in in the taco and it wasn't mushy like some fish tacos I've had before. The decor was cool and the restaurant was clean. I'm knocking them down slightly on the service as it was rather slow for the restaurant not being very busy. Additionally my son's food came after almost every at my table finished their food. I believe there is an unwritten but widely accepted rule in the service industry that kids food should come first if possible. As we walked out of the restaurant we noticed our server in the kitchen drinking a beer so not sure if that was why our service was slow or if his shift just ended. All in all the food outweighed the service snafus and if in the area again I'd give them another shot to deliver on the service front.

Stopped by for happy hour and it might be the best one we have found in Minneapolis. $4 tacos and $6 margaritas! Service was great, food was great and loved the bar area. Will definitely be back

Stopped by for lunch. Beautiful space that serves elevated Mexican. Loved my fish taco, coconut rice and chips and salsa. The 2 kinds of salsa has very nice flavor. My hubby and son loved their meals. The service was amazing. We had a very personal young man serving us who was very prompt and attentive. Ambience is delightful with plants. I would come back again when I am in town.

Apps. Queso w/ Shrooms. I enjoyed the dip & the chips. I thought by the looks of it, that it may not have tasted the way it did. Chips very hearty=*} Tacos. Mushroom. I can't rmbr where I've had a Mushrm taco before but this taco was on 100! The mushrm were grilled to perfection. The condensation from the mushrms didn't soak my flour tortilla... that's how U know It was prepared by hands that knew. Fish. Didn't enjoy it as much. It was thinly battered so I was good in that department. I think I didn't like the last three bites of it maybe bc the oil settled & it had an after taste. Steak. Thinly sliced and crispy. OMG! It was a party I had all by myself when I saved it for last. Burrito. Mushroom. Service. It was accommodating for the type of venue. Music. Whosever playlist it was... was just right for the after work mood... happy Hr appropriate. I will say that sitting on the high top as soon as U walk in the dining rm, do NOT sit there on windy days... otherwise, I have to keep paperweights on Ur napkins & Ur food can catch a chill pretty fast if Ur not planning to devour as soon as it's served. Note: Pendant Lighting over the bar... needs some housekeeping action. This place... their food was notably alllll tasty!!! If Ur craving Mexican food to hit the spot...this is the place=*} 1 saved round... their to-go container... LuVLuV!!!

Relatively easy to find, though you do have to hunt a little bit, Flora Room sits behind a nondescript metal door leading down a short hallway to the entrance. Take a long moment to allow your eyes to adjust if you're coming before sunset; this space is DARK. It's also perfect. Once your "night vision" kicks in you're surrounded by a nice bar, numerous bistro-style tables and booths. Candles adorn the tables creating a nice, cozy place to settle in for drinks. Once seated in comfortable chairs at a table, we were quickly greeted and provided with menus. The cocktail selection is relatively "small" but really nicely varied. Prices seemed a tad steep but frankly, given the quality of the drinks I'd say quite worth it. I started out with the Evita, a nice flavorful gin-base cocktail topped with a nice egg white foam. Very tasty. My wife opted for the Tapaculo, with gin, mezcal, pineapple, banana and bitters over ice. Also quite good. There are also bites available from the associated restaurant I can't recall the name of mine but I can say it was delicious. Bread-like bites with a really tasty dipping sauce. To close out the visit I selected Palo, a smoked aged rum cocktail that was really nice and rich. My wife chose the Nahualito with rum, walnut, amontillado and white chocolate. All should be on your radar. Flora Room really fit the bill for a nice, intimate speakeasy-style spot to spend time. Dark and cozy. Savory cocktails and friendly service will stand out and make you want to return. I know we'll seek it out if we return to Minneapolis again. I hope so.

Fortunately, I arrived at 5:30 PM on a Saturday, which was early enough to avoid a line and a velvet rope. I don't wait in line for anything unless I'm at a pharmacy, bakery, post office, or airport. Lines at restaurants and bars strike me as pretentious or bad management, and I don't tolerate either. However, I'm old, and at my age, nothing is worth waiting for unless it's a necessity. I found a seat at the beautiful and expansive bar and looked around at the Del Prado design. The colors might be different, but Flora was reminiscent of Minari and Noma. All three add to the Twin Cities' cachet. However, I was taken aback by the attire I saw around me. People were dressed in shorts, T-shirts, and sneakers. It's friggen Saturday night Minneapolis. Have some class! Flora Room was a lovely cocktail lounge, perfect for wooing, but don't expect to strike up a conversation with any of the bartenders. At these Del Prado joints, the staff must be trained not to engage. I'm out alone and enjoy talking. Bartenders used to be part of a lounge's attraction when I grew up in NYC. They learned your name, knew what you did, and gave you a hearty welcome. That, I guess, is not part of the culture in Minneapolis. Well, at least not at the Del Prado restaurants and bars. Chef Del Prado is from Argentina, and certainly, Argentina is one of the warmest and friendliest countries in the world, so I don't get it. I now live up the block from the Flora Room. I'm a neighbor and would like to be treated like one. Neighborly and the Flora Room are distant concepts.

Upon entering we were greeted by a woman who was clearly wearing multiple hats as she seemed rushed, a bit off putting and quite frankly distracted. Menu is small but the items we ordered were all fabulous! Every single one! The collard green dip with cornbread pita chips was absolutely delicious - Think spinach artichoke dip but soul food! The salmon croquettes with lemon herb aioli and arugula salad that accompanied were fresh and light! The catfish sandwich with fries was hot, crispy and well seasoned with fresh lettuce and tomato on a perfectly tender brioche bun. I want to return so bad for the food but it was clear this host, server, bartender and partial cook was pulled in too many directions and that severely compromised our service and gave us stand off energy as first time patrons. I looked it up and she is actually one of the owners. She came across as irritated especially once we didn't order any alcoholic drinks first and then very short and curt following. What took the cake was her telling us she was leaving for the day and needed to close our tab while we were eating. Didn't ask did we want to order anything else and there was another server taking her place and an empty restaurant! My partner had to put his sandwich down wipe his hands pull out his wallet while she stood there impatiently. Then proceeded to linger around hugging her regular bar patrons. It was clear this is a "regulars" spot and if you're not one you're rolling the dice on the service you may or may not get. We were patient and didn't complain because it was Juneteenth and our intention to support black restaurants all weekend. I have many previous years in the industry as a cook, host and GM and I was stunned to know that she was one of the owners when I looked it up. Had planned to return for live music but unfortunately the off putting energy and unwelcoming vibe may have squashed that possibility. I hope they improve service because the food is delicious and deserves attention from a larger and more sophisticated audience.
