I appreciated the effort put in to using so many puns on the menu! The hollandaise sauce was very flavourful and worked really well with the potatoes. I liked that there was just a moderate amount of cheese and bacon so it wasn't too overwhelming. Despite my best efforts I wasn't able to finish the plate so I was very impressed with the value I got for my money. It's a time capsule "greasy spoon" where you get a genuinely good and fresh breakfast, huge portions, for very cheap. Ask any local about Basell's and they'll tell you memories of coming here after the bars closed way back in the day, or just coming for breakfast when they were kids. You can feel the multiple decades of life when you walk in. I love that they've kept the charm and aren't the least bit interested in gentrifying themselves. When you wake up wanting a good diner for breakfast, I'd add Basell's to the list of viable options.
