Fried chicken and chips, look at the size of it and the chicken was amazing.

Walking into Basell's was like walking back into the 50's in all respects- the service, the decor and the prices. I challenge anyone to eat a whole meal on their own, I love my food and managed not quite half of the fried chicken. I think we took more home than we ate. The service was literally straight out of a movie, the waitress was lovely and could have come straight from central casting and you know a diner is good when the waitress eats there on her day off. If and when we get back to Niagara Falls we will be back to Basell's for sure, and will try the breakfast as well as a dinner. All in all it was fantastic.

The (half!) Quebec pancakes with Canadian bacon and eggs, bacon, and toast

My friend and I had breakfast at Basell's yesterday morning before biking the wine route to and from Niagara on the Lake, and it was just what we needed to get through the day! Since the servings are enormous, I ordered a "half order" of the Quebec pancakes, or a stack of three pancakes with two cuts of Canadian bacon (the regular order comes with four pancakes). I was only able to eat two pancakes and one slice of the bacon, though, but my friend finished the other pancake and sampled some of the second piece of bacon, which she loved. She ordered two eggs, over-easy, with bacon and toast, which she also enjoyed. The Quebec pancakes, made with Aunt Jemima mix and an added egg for fluff, were tasty, as was the Canadian bacon. I also ordered a medium orange juice as the glasses of juice run small, and we both ordered coffee, which was diner-style decent. Furthermore, not only was the service friendly and helpful, but the ambiance was neat. It looked like a place from the past... with wifi!

Time warp. Place was sold back in April 2016. It seems changes are coming.

Time warp! Great little place with all the usual good meals you could expect for the family with less sticker shock. Ordered a garden salad for lunch and it too was a time-warp dish: fresh crispy iceberg lettuce, green peppers, cucumbers, horse radish (yup!, don't see these much anymore in a salad) with italian dressing served up in a topped up open jar with a table spoon. Salad was just the way I had it as a kid. I doubt you'll find a salad like this anywhere else. Refreshing! Others items we ordered were: Ruben with fries and chicken fingers. I heard this place was sold (back in April) so it looks like there be changes to this nostalgic diner (everything in this place is pristine, clean and all the restaurant equipment is in full working order. Even the glassware, sundae glassware, etc is pristine. Just off the beat from the rest of the tourist-alley.

    Cheeseburger and fries

With all the tourist traps in Niagara Falls, this place is a little gem. Yes, the place doesn't look like much from the outside and the interior and decor is outdated, but the food and the service (not to mention portion vs price ratio) make totally up for it. We came here for dinner on a Sunday evening and decided to order the prime rib dinner (only served on the weekend!) as well as the cheeseburger. The prime rib dinner comes with a few choices and we decided on apple juice as a drink as well as fries as the side. It also came with coleslaw as well as a veggie medley and a dinner bun with butter. The meat was amazing! So flavorful and juicy. I'm usually not a big fan of roasts, but this was the best one I have ever tasted. The coleslaw and fries were also pretty good. The cheeseburger came with fries and coleslaw. Again, everything tasted great. The patty looked as if it had been store bought, however it was not dry at all and had a good flavor. This was definitely a decent burger. Portion sizes are quite large here. We shared the 2 meals between the 3 of us (2 adults and 1 child with a very healthy appetite) and it was just the right amount of food for us. The service is wonderful and the food came out in no time. I didn't the catch the name of the waitress, but it was a very sweet older lady who really wanted to make sure that we were happy with our food. She even made sure that we received a complimentary ice cream at the end when we had finished the plates, claiming this was part of the prime rib dinner. (I don't think it actually was since it was not part of the description. ;)) Finally, let me tell you that the prices are great here. With tax and tip we paid $40 for everything and I think this is a great deal.

The only reason I have a 4 star is how dated this place is, but at the same time it is cool. It is very clean. The food is 5 stars. Very good with BIG portions and reasonably price. You can also do half orders for kids. The wait staff were excellent. I do recommend.

    Retro Diner with groovy decor.

Groovy little diner. The staff are friendly and offered tomato slices in place of the meat option for the eggs Benedict ! Love the arborite table/countertops and vinyl covered booths, stools and chairs. Hot coffee and quiet atmosphere. Was a great find, whilst in town. Prices are reasonable. Special for the day Eggs Benedict $8.75. Coffee $1.95 refillable.

I would describe this place as ghetto fabulous. It definitely embodies what the true Niagara Falls, Canada is: a place stuck in the past, with not much of a future. Yeah, yeah, people think Niagara Falls is so romantic and awesome, but step outside the touristy sections for a bit and you'll find Basell's, and you'll see the real Niagara Falls. Anyway, this place has cheap prices and all-day breakfast! I had the veal parmesan and it was great, even if the soup was a bit salty. The price was right, though, at $10.80 as it was the special of the day. Service was friendly and it was completely local patrons. If you want to experience the real Niagara Falls, stop by!

Lol you're advised of this when entering and with signage around the restaurant. There's a very limited menu. After getting our coffee (and a couple refills), the Chef yelled over asking what we wanted. Very casual. Well our breakfast were not only reasonably priced($6.99 canadian) but also huge. All made to order down to the potatoes being cut up individually with each order. Crazy as it sounds though was the Italian bread toast served with breakfast. It was outstanding! We even inquired where they purchased the bread and we made a stop there after finishing our breakfast. Overall, great food, reasonable prices, and a welcoming atmosphere. While we were originally going to get bacon and ham, we were recommended the sausage and it didn't disappoint. Definitely a solid choice. Breakfast was hugely filling for a great price. Service felt like you were being welcomed into someone's home. Spare yourself a sub par breakfast somewhere else and come to Cippy's.

Early afternoon not long before they closed to break and then begin dinner service prep. We were the last brunch patrons of the day. Only critique might be on their ventilation system. It was a bit smoky in the dining area. Most likely coming from the kitchen. No burnt smell, just a bit of haze. Atmosphere was quiet (of course. There were only a few tables eating at that time) and cozy. Decor is very Parisienne. My wife has been to Paris and she recalled cafés just like this one. Stacy was our server. She was very nice and very friendly. Exceptionally knowledgeable about the dishes and the story of the café. There was a sense of pride when she spoke of the café that did not go unnoticed. Food was delivered in good time. What was supposed to be hot was hot & cold, cold. We had: Thalassa (Galette) La Baraka (Crepe) La Complete (Galette) Cappuccino (2) Beer (local, Sleeman Original Lager) Bread with Butter & Strawberry Jam Suffice to say that EVERYTHING was delicious. That's, actually, an understatement. One bite of his La Complete and my brother in law said, "Dude, you gotta taste this!! And he was right..amazing." My dish was the Thalassa, because I adore smoked salmon. It was fresh, bright and it was my first time having caviar. I thought that I would love it and I did. Then, my wife's dish, the sweet La Baraka. O M G! Nothing like it. Sweet but not too sweet and come to find out from Stacy that all the components are made from scratch. The salted butter caramel & the Chantilly. Idk how it's made but I'm going to learn how to make that Chantilly. Soooo good! Also, the Cappuccino here is outstanding. My wife made the mistake of letting me try some. She had to order another! Delectable. The bread, of course, is House-made, as you'd expect. This was the kind of experience I look for, especially, when I travel. I would love to eat here again before we leave in a few days. We'll see.... There are many more experiences to have. MOST DEFINITELY RECOMMEND. 5/5
