They scratched the total of the receipt and marked it down with a pen!!

To be honest... This place was pretty horrible! The restaurant itself is okay but the floors are an accident waiting to happen. We went for a baby shower with our children. We were slipping from left to right. It was also pretty noisy and we couldn't really have a conversation with the person next to us. The service wasn't so great. The guy was taking too long to get drinks out he wasn't checking on us and believe me we needed silverware, napkins, etc. Now the food was pretty mediocre our pupusas were coming out burnt and pretty much everyone was getting their plates in random orders. The caldo de pollo came with a side of chicken and veggies and tell me why the chicken came out first and the broth came out 30 minutes later!!! Now to what I really wanted to emphasize this bad review was on the receipt . When we got our bill we noticed that they had scratched off the original total off the bill and proceeded to write their own total. With tax and gratuity our total would have been $199 tell me why they added another $45 to our bill. Total thievery! Don't come here go to la Flor Blanca instead. I'm not saying to be mean but it's just not worth your money.

Definitely worth driving to South Central LA! They have parking once you turn into 43rd st to the right. During the the day ... We were able to choose our seating, the waitress came right away to take our drink orders. The food came at a decent time. All the meat was greasy Lu cooked with great grilled flavor. The rice and beans were authentic. The PUPUSAS were cooked well but a tad bit greasy ( normal) I definitely recommend coming during the week before 5 otherwise you will run into traffic and the homeless folks surrounding the place. Service was good

The food was good . They need to update there information on Yelp as for there hours and form of payment they don't accept credit cards. So my sure you take cash before getting there and get surprised with incorrect information.

We were charged a SURCHARGE FEE, I asked why we were charged for a SURCHARGE FEE the response was because everything has gotten more expensive, my response was " I would understand that if the plates were cheap but obviously also the plates have increased drastically. This isn't at all a luxurious restaurant and we paid close to $100 for only 3 meals that's ludicrous. DONT COME EAT HERE NOT WORTH IT.

I guess you can say some extra protein we didn't ask for.

We would always go here for family gatherings for the past couple of years but as time has passed you can tell that management doesn't care anymore. I went recently for a birthday and we noticed they gave our dish to another table and even the waiters talked among themselves and didn't bother addressing it to us until 20 minutes later where we said something. The waitress made it seem like it was the cooks fault and we still waited for another 10 minutes for our food. Towards the end we noticed a friend in our meal and I told the waitress but didn't even apologize but rather said they'll be more careful next time and she'll talk to the cooks. I work in food service so I understand sometimes there are oversights but after today I don't know how to feel about this place.

Pico de gallo no good 2 stars Just because it taste alright! Not worth $20 dollars. Look at the beans in a a sauce container, and only 3 shrimps. Laughable

Best Salvadoran Restaurant in Los Angeles. It's a bit pricy but worth it and the restaurant itself is very elegant and gives out immaculate vibes.

    Complimentary. Served once seated.

I always pass by this restaurant but had never visited. It's on Vernon and Avalon right next to the smog check place that we use for our cars. We always thought that it was questionable because the exterior doesn't look too attractive due to graffiti. Once you park, it's a different vibe. Restaurant's parking is not that big, but it's nice to see the palm trees all around. Once you enter, it's a cute restaurant with nice decor, comfortable round tables with very comfortable chairs. Some chairs look worn out, but that's why there's a surcharge on the receipt. Can be used for repairs, utilities, maintenance, staff wages... etc. The menu is very easy to read. Fair prices compared to other local restaurants around the radius. Even with that surcharge, we paid what we normally pay at other restaurants around the neighborhood, so fair game. So we are 2 adults and one 10 month old. Restaurant is clean, Restrooms available and clean, lots of sitting area. You enter and choose your sitting preference. Service was very quick. We were greeted and received complimentary Crunchy tortilla slices with guacamole. We ordered 2 micheladas at $10 each. I got one with modelo, and my wife got a corona extra one. Large size michelada. Larger, cheaper, and tastier than other spots we normally visit. The food was so fresh and tasty. I got 3 pupusas of cheese con loroco, My wife got the Carne asada plate, and our 10th month old got the cheeseburger with French fries. It was a lot of food, great presentation, great service, friendly staff and very attentive. There was a African American couple that sat on the table directly behind us. It was great how the waitress took the time to go through the menu with them. She offered and recommended. I was jealous because their blended margaritas and plates looked amazing. Will definitely visit again. Read the reviews, but in my personal opinion... the experience today from beginning to end was great.

    Hair on food

This place deserves 0 stars. I have been coming here for years & the service has became worse & worse every single time. They charge you a " restaurant surcharge " & when you ask why they don't give you an accurate explanation. The first time I asked they told me that it was for dinning in. So I order to go and notice the charge & ask and the person charging me tells me " read the sign ". Anyways, I end up paying & leaving. When I get home, I check my food and there's a huge long black hair around my platano. I call to let them know that I will be going back to return the plate & I want a refund. The girl that had helped me out the first time made a face as soon as I walked in & sent someone else to help me out. So unprofessional & bad service. I can definitely say I don't recommend this place & will no longer be going.

I stayed at USC hotel so I decided to give this place a try since I heard about it from YouTube…read more The place is inside a food hall and shares tables with the other restaurants. The line went outside the building, but it moved decently fast. After ordering you get a number and they will deliver the food to your table. I got a variety of their tacos. Each taco had a unique twist to it, and tasted really good. They also had a cool black tortilla which had a nice texture. I especially like the fried fish one as it had a mellow yet delicious flavor. I also got their cheap chips, and that as well worth the price. Definitely give this place a shot. It does match up to the hype.

The last time I went was on October 3rd and September 12th of last year, so it had been almost a year since my last visit. The very first time was last summer with about 10 members from my Korean community group. We all thought the food was really delicious, and that's why I kept coming back. As you would expect from such a popular restaurant, there are always a lot of people here. Yesterday was no exception, and there was a pretty long line outside. Fortunately, the line moved fairly quickly, so it didn't feel too bad. After we decided what to order, I was reminded again that the prices here are quite expensive for a restaurant located inside a food court. Last year, I ordered for all four of us at once, and the total came to almost $200. So this time, we decided to pay separately for my mom and myself, while my two brothers each paid for their own meals. I ordered two of my absolute favorite dishes here, the Tostada de Kanpachi & Uni. This is something I really love because it tastes so fresh and delicious every time I have it. It's definitely a must-order dish for me. I also ordered two Taco de Pescado al Carbón. Those four items alone came to about $70. I also remembered that I had tipped way too much here last year, so this time I only left a $5 tip. (It is the food court system, even they bring the foods to our table) That brought my total to $75. My brothers ordered the large Brazilian fish, the Tostada Uni, and ceviche. Everything we had was delicious overall, but honestly, the tacos I ordered yesterday were not really for my taste at all. So next time I come here, I don't think I'll order the same tacos again. On the way to the restroom, I noticed people at another table eating lobster. I asked them where they ordered it from, and they told me they ordered it from Holbox. It looked absolutely delicious, so I'm definitely going to try the lobster next time I come here. I also really like that they have a water station near the section where people line up outside. There are cups available there, so you can help yourself to water while waiting, which is very convenient. One downside is that the restroom always has a noticeable smell. Fortunately, it's located quite far away from the dining area, but it also doesn't look particularly clean or sanitary. Another thing is that you have to eat certain dishes, especially the tostadas and tacos, with your hands. I personally don't really like eating food with my hands, but with tostadas and tacos, there's really no other way. After washing my hands in the restroom, the smell of the liquid soap is also quite unpleasant and strong. Unfortunately, I can still smell the soap on my hands while I'm eating, which bothers me quite a bit. And because Holbox is always so incredibly popular, finding a table can be difficult. Luckily, we were able to get a table pretty quickly yesterday. Overall, I still really enjoy coming here for the fresh and delicious seafood, especially the Tostada de Kanpachi & Uni. Even though there are a few things I don't love about the experience, the food itself is definitely why I keep coming back.

The menu had bunch of small and large plates, alongside lots alcoholic and N/A drinks. I ordered the Strawberry Daiquiri Mocktail that almost tested like a smoothie. The fried calamari, corn, empanadas, short rib tostada and chicken taco, all were good dishes but none of them were mind blowing. Prices were mostly fair. The service was really good. Our server did a wonderful job. All the dishes came out in short intervals. Overall a good location to have relaxing dining experience with friends and family.
