Great selection of cold and hot sandwiches and enough variety to satisfy just about anybody. This…read moreplace is a lunch counter by day and a bar at night. We dined here for lunch and there was a line almost out the front door at 12:45pm. You place your order and pay at the counter then get your beverage and then find a seat and someone will bring out your order. The order number is on the receipt so hang onto it at least until your order arrives. In spite of how busy the restaurant was, we managed to find an open table inside. There are also some tables outside in back. It was a bit chilly when we were there so we stayed in. One of the daily specials was the club which I ordered on rye with potato salad. My wife got the chicken Caesar wrap with macaroni salad. Both were very good and a good value.

BLUF: Quality sandwiches, full service bar and excellent service…read more Poor Richard's Sandwich Shop is a classic Manteo business that has been there as long as I can remember. Poor Richard's is located on the water and offers scenic views of the Elizabeth II and people milling around Manteo. The sandwiches are always tasty as are their sides. Poor Richard's offer a full menu of both cold and hot sandwiches including some southern favorites like Pimento cheese and coastal classics like a crab cake sandwich. Not to be overlooked are their sides like their pasta salad and cucumber salad. Poor Richard's is open for lunch and then closes to reset before reopening for dinner. Whether dining on the back patio or in the front bar or getting it to go, their hearty sandwiches are fulfilling and quality.

Excellent. We come here every time we vacation. Make a reservation!…read more The oyster shooter and the shrimp and grits are two of my favorites and you also cannot go wrong with their oyster selection. Drinks are on point, service is quick, and the view of the sound is lovely. For the non-seafood lovers, their salads and burgers are good too!

Blue Water Grill has never let us down. This seemed like a good place for lunch on Valentine's Day…read more It was sunny and bright, and the restaurant's windows provide a great view. We shared a cup of Shrimp and Roasted Red Pepper soup from the daily specials. It was delicious, with a little tartness that gave it backbone. Perhaps from sour cream. It was perhaps a little bit overthickened but was short of pasty and we enjoyed it. I would have been happy with a bowl of this for my lunch, but I had other plans. The decision is easy for Ms T. I know before we leave the house that she is ordering fried shrimp and they are excellent here. They are large, plump, tender, flavorful and cooked just right. They don't have a silly heavy batter. Lately we have had at least three instances of undercooked shrimp. These were perfect. They were accompanied by a mound of very good French fries and some acceptable slaw. The sauce for the shrimp is a very good, mustardy sauce. I ordered Baja tacos, blackened and did not regret it. They are served in nicely toasted flour tortillas with cabbage for crunch and a creamy sauce. The mahi was seasoned and blackened well. It is served with a good roasted tomato sauce and some beans over rice. My only regret is that I should have asked them to omit the onion laced pico de gallo. Two large tacos were too much so one came home with me. This was a great lunch for Valentines's day.
