We went in to place a few orders for a work function but the prices have changed. Over our budget. Inflation is affecting everything. My colleague told me the food is really good so I'll be checking them out for an individual portion. The aroma of the food was so good and inviting. Stay tuned!

Recently ate here and was very disappointed. Ordered the yellow rice w/ stewed beef + boiled plantains. The stewed beef was good but very salty + the yellow rice was very soggy and not flavorful. The boiled plantains was alright (nothing special). This was one of the worst Spanish meal I have eaten so far.

I've had Sophie's in Manhattan before and found this location to be as good and perhaps a bit better. They do get crowded as the food as good so my tip is use the app if you're picking up. Had the steak sandwich which was good but not special. For special try the "shredded beef stew" which is traditionally called ropa vieja and it is delicious here. Shredded beef with rice, sweet plantains and a side salad were a lot to be sure but yum. They do have some seating though lunch may be tough. Worth trying for sure.

I'm embarrassed that I've never been to Sophie's, considering it's only a block or two away from my place.* Having now had their food, I can confirm that this Sophie's is like the other Sophie's out there in Manhattan. It's mostly tasty** Cuban cuisine: The empanadas are solid, the ropa vieja is a nice plate (edges out the oxtail for me, but my mother would say the opposite), and the maduros, as always, are the best thing out. I wish their cubano was a bit juicier, and a bit better balanced, but you can't have everything in this life. _____________ *But I'm not that embarrassed. I've been to other Sophie's locations, and it's not as if Sophie's a close, personal friend of mine. There are plenty of things in my life that I am far, far more embarrassed by. Humiliated, even. **Which is not as good a name as Sophie's, so I understand why they went with that.

I have to share my go-to empanada spot in the city - It is a chain with many locations around, making it super convenient. The lines move fast, which is perfect when you're craving a quick snack. Very friendly staff! Even though is a chain, not all Sophies make their empanadas the same sadly! But these are very good! If you're into empanadas give this place a shot.

I love this spot for their empanadas, the beef mashed potato ball and their baked chicken entree or beef stew entree. I tried their flan today too and it's very delicious and just the right amount of sweet that I like! You get so much food for the price and always so mouthwatering tasty! Love it here and they're able to do delivery which is so nice during this covid pandemic.

This spot made me very happy today! Ive been on a quest looking for the best cuban sandwich in NY. Sophie's is definately up there! Very well constructed sandwich, nothing fell out. Flavor was fantastic. Ham croqueta was delicious not too greasy. The homemade empanada was very flavorful and also not very greasy. Delivery was super quick. Great lunch spot!

Good food when it's fresh and hasn't been sitting out. Wish they wouldn't put everything in plastic though, even if you're dining in.

There are only a handful of tables, but we were still able to find a spot easily (we went around 2pm). We ordered Cuban sandwiches and guava pastelitos. I hadn't had a Cuban sandwich in years, and these absolutely did not disappoint. The sandwiches had the perfect balance of bread, meat, cheese, and sauce. They were rich and flavorful without being greasy or dry. They also came with plantain chips and a garlic sauce on the side, which was a nice touch. I also really enjoyed the guava pastry. It had a generous amount of guava filling but wasn't overly sweet. I'm so glad we discovered this spot and will definitely be coming back.

Ambiance is super casual - maybe more of a take out spot, but there's decent seating. Came with 6 people (including 2 little ones) and it was great. Food: make sure to order the Garlic Moji and Cilantro Aioli on the side. They really make the dishes! I ordered the below and enjoyed it all: -Chicken Plate: very satisfying -Pork Sandwich (a little oily, but would order again) -Empanadas: favorite was ham & cheese. The guava one was ok - a bit rich and leans more heavily cheese.

Happy to see the restaurant offering specials so I ordered Cuban sandwiches, Bacalao(fried cod fish), Cuban ham croquettes, Yuca fries(came with red onions) and regular French fries. The Cubans' roast pork was well-seasoned and accompanied with plantain chips, all items brought a delicious sauce, and fresh garlic, nice touch. The Cubans were 4/5, the Bacalao were 5/5, as were the Yuca and regular fries. I personally prefer different bread, with more pickles and ham, but definitely recommend this place and will plan a visit to dine-in, to try their fresh juices and other menu items. I ordered delivery so could not report on service, beyond everything was well-packaged with care.

The flavors are a little off for me, but still a good version. The ropa vieja also lacked a little something, but they use tri-tip instead of the usual flank steak, which felt more tender. The owner Benny was also kind enough to give us some free desserts to take home, which were pretty good. With that said, what intrigued me the most was the interesting story about how Benny fell into this restaurant situation after swearing he would never be in this industry again. He is a strong believer in supporting the community, and has a nonprofit called Hungry Monk Rescue Truck that deals with food insecurity in NYC. We need more people like him in this world. Let's show our support for a business we can be proud to dine at.

Ordered the rotisserie chicken with garlic sauce and got it with yellow rice and tostones. (9 out of 10) Also tried the empanada sampler which came with four empanadas of my choosing and tried the Beef, shrimp, chicken, and birria. (8 out of 10) I mean this sincerely... everything was beyond flavorful. The rotisserie garlic chicken had to be my favorite bite of the night but each empanada included in the sampler was crispy, tender, and decadent; each one leaving its own individual mark. Seriously blown away and might even had to stop in to try the food at the restaurant next time. Can't wait to see order from here again!

Food: This place is quite bad. We ordered the tortilla soup and the vegan tofu chimichurri. The tortilla soup was inedible it was so salty. The tofu was grilled and entirely burnt on the bottom. I had to slice the entire bottom off. The chimichurri sauce was flavorful. The yellow rice side seemed like bagged instant rice. The maduros were good. Did not try the alcohol but they had a large selection including non alcoholic options. The place adds a 20% auto gratuity fee. Kind of absurd on a 2 person check. I am Latina so perhaps I have a higher expectation for Latin food but I'm perplexed at how this place could have such high ratings, perhaps it was just a bad night. I would never go back and would not recommend.
