    Carbonara pasta
    Diana S.

Came here based on Yelp reviews and especially liked that it was away from the crowds of Trevi Fountain. We came on a weekday a little after 8pm and the restaurant was pretty full but we luckily got seated fairly quickly. The staff was very welcoming but service was a bit slow due to the packed restaurant. The restaurant is impeccably clean which was a plus. We ordered the house white wine which was great and very reasonably priced. For dinner I ordered the carbonara pasta based on reviews and also because I had yet to try this dish after being in Italy for a week. I was very disappointed with it- the pasta was fresh and cooked well but the sauce was lacking to me- I don't eat pasta often (especially carbonara) but this dish just tasted mediocre. The sauce was not very flavorful but I did enjoy the bacon pieces which were cooked perfectly. My husband ordered the seafood pasta and although the pasta itself was cooked well, it was definitely not the freshest seafood we've had in Italy. For dessert we shared the tiramisu which was the highlight of the meal. I would definitely not come back to this place but maybe I ordered the wrong dishes...overall this restaurant has very affordable meals, is clean, and has friendly staff.

    Old vegetables!

Ended up there by coincidence. Tripadvisor note on the door said excellent. Yelp has average 4.5 rating. Have no idea why unless they recently changed owners. Waited 15 minutes before being served. The vegetables on display/cooler looked old. When we finally got our food, it has no taste. I had pasta dish with clams. Oily and no sauce. Not one time did they ask how we were doing. Will definitely not recommend.

The sandwich shop directly across the street had a line out the door so since we only had an hour before we had to pick up our bags from our bag BnB, we needed to choose somewhere nearby and quick. The reviews looked promising on Yelp so we decided to dine here. There were three other tables in the restaurant before us, but a few more came in as our meal continued. Service was gruff to us but they seemed quite kinder to the other tables. We also noticed we were the only table that was not given table bread. The house white was only ok. I ordered the Gracia-bacon and pecorino. The flavors were actually very good and complementary. I was surprised by the generous portion of bacon as well. What was wrong was the pasta itself. It was severely under-cooked bordering on some pieces being slightly crunchy. It took forever to get our food and I was starving so I ate what I could since we didn't have time to send it back. My husband agreed it was crunchy rather than al dente. My husband's carbonara, however, was much better in that the pasta was cooked appropriately. The flavors in his were tasty as well. He offered to switch with me, but of course I felt bad and said no thanks. I saw them bringing up boxed pasta from the basement so that leads me to believe none of it is homemade. If I could have a redo, I would have waited in line at that sandwich shop because this was not a favorable introduction to cuisine in Rome.

    La bistecca. Thin but tasty

Such a gem! A tour guide we had recommended it and we took his advice. We made reservations for 8pm and waited about 10 minutes for a table to clear. It looked like a family business and an older woman was our waitress and she was the cutest Italian woman. I had the bistecca and ordered a side of vegetables. It was delicious. We enjoyed the house red wine with our meal. We tried a fruity cake for dessert with ricotta which was yummy! I'd come here again!

    Cheers!

I was a bit disappointed by this place. Me and my friends ended up here by default, as the original resto we went to could not seat us. For starters, we sat and waiting for a long time before we were even the chance to order. And when we finally did a order and get our good - it wasn't good at all. There no flavor. The pasta tasted like oil only. Port service. Bad food. I do not recommend.

We came to Sora Lucia during our last night in Rome for dinner and it did not disappoint. Thank goodness we had data on our phone to help navigate us to this street full of other restaurants and shops, because otherwise, we would have never found it. We knew that the restaurant fills up fast, so we decided to eat early to try and beat the crowds. 530PM must've been a perfect time, because the restaurant was empty. We were given a seat of our choice, handed menus and proceeded to peruse away. I of course ordered my half liter of wine and went with the seafood pasta (not the real name) that came loaded with mussels, clams, and squid over linguini noodles and cooked with a wine sauce. It was delicious, but with the seafood, was a little salty - so expect to drink a lot of water later on in the night. The meal was concluded with a large piece of delicious tiramisu that was easily shared between Jaime and I. The earlier time was a good choice because within an hour, the place was full of people and the phone was ringing like crazy. We probably just caught them as they were opening. Service was great, even when it became super busy and they offer complimentary wifi if you want to post, research or whatever you need to do before moving on to your next location.

This hole in the wall restaurant is tucked back near the trevi fountain. Absolute must if you are i. this area! The Amatriciana here tastes very authentic. The pistachio cheesecake is also a must. The house wine is also amazing. Overall great prices for great quality.

Our friends told us to come here for Liliana's excellent food and we were happy we listened. It's located close to the Trevi Fountain area. It's a small cozy place, we arrived around 2pm for lunch and got one of the only 2 tables left with no problem. They close for lunch at 3pm, at least on Sundays. We enjoyed our meal so much we went back a couple hours later and had dinner there too. :-) We made sure to make a reservation during lunch for dinner which was smart because while we were eating dinner, we saw them turn away all the walk ins that night. So if you want to come for dinner, make a reservation beforehand. They are also closed on Mondays. Ok onto the food. The mixed salad was good and fresh. Combined in our 2 meals here, we had the cacio e pepe pasta which was cooked perfectly and so good. The principle seafood pasta dish was also pretty good with mussels and squid. The lasagne was piping hot and very good, makes me not look forward to the typical square shaped ones back home with crumbly ricotta in it. :-( The osso buco was served flat and I thought it was a piece of veal for a moment. It had a good rich flavor. The creme caramel was like a flan and tasted very good too. Each of our meals was just under 50 euros total which is a great price for the high quality of home cooked food you're getting. The house red wine was the best tasting house red we've had during our whole trip, too. The mother and son combo do an excellent job here. Just either go for lunch or call ahead to book a dinner time.

The house wine is the best I have ever had for the price. Granted, I'm no connoisseur but our party of four agreed. The pasta was quite good. You can tell everything is fresh. I tried a little of each pasta dish our party had and they were all good but keep in mind it's not the United States so it's not going to taste the same. Service, especially for Europe, is rather friendly. I finally felt like I was at a neighborhood Italian place. I felt like the veal was average, however, in comparison. Still quite good but not quite what the other dishes were. Points for: house wine, pasta, friendly service No points: veal

Simple, clean and authentic Italian restaurant. Pastas start at 7€ and meats at 10€. Best in the area. Glad we stumbled upon it.

By the time we were seated, dozens of people were waiting behind us. We sipped an Aperol spritz and lemonade while we waited, chatting with fellow diners who raved about the restaurant. On a sweltering day, our kids were starting to struggle in the heat when the owner came outside and gave them mini pizzas breads. It was a thoughtful gesture that immediately made us feel welcome. Once seated, we ordered burrata, cacio e pepe, amatriciana pasta, pork chops, and fried artichokes. Everything was excellent, but the amatriciana was the standout--rich, savory, and unforgettable. The cacio e pepe was silky, the burrata fresh and creamy, the pork chops juicy, and the fried artichokes perfectly crisp. There's a reason people line up for Da Enzo. The food is exceptional, the atmosphere lively, and the hospitality remarkable. Without question, this was our best meal in Rome and one of our most memorable restaurant experiences.

The tomatoes were fresh and juicy but the burrata was a bit thick (referring to the outer aspect). Also the bread was a bit tough. The amatriciana was good, but not worth a 2 hour wait in a line, 7.5/10. Pasta was perfectly al dente, but the sauce wasn't anything to die for. I think you can get a very similar possibly better pasta in Rome without the wait. My girlfriend got the gnocchi pasta, which she said was a 7/10. The gnocchi was great, but again the sauce wasn't anything special Tiramisu, 10/10. This was amazing. It was sweet without being overpowering. The ladyfingers weren't soggy, and had that strong espresso taste. I would come back here just for this dessert. Also if you don't like cramped spaces, probably not the best spot. I could hear the people next to me better than I could hear the person across me haha.

Super pizza place with a lot of other great stuff on the menu…read more I looked with envy at the other tables who were enjoying spectacular plates of spaghetti with mussels. * * * That said, my pizza was a grand slam home run. Many of their pizzas are quite elaborate With all sorts of exotic ingredients. I went super simple. Gorgonzola. Mozzarella. That's it. Just enough Mozzarella to cut the Gorgonzola and make for a good melt. * * * If you have never had a gorgonzola pizza, you have never lived. Just sayin'. * * * P.S. My lovely wife got a Norwegian salmon pizza. The Norwegian salmon was stacked up high on her pizza As if she was in the World Series of Poker and she was a big winner. I have never seen so much salmon on one plate. After our meal, I made a discreet phone call to the Norwegian embassy in Rome asking them if they still had any salmon left. The woman at the embassy assured me the Norwegian salmon supply was fine. That surprises me given all the salmon that was on my wife's pizza.

Being new to Rome, and having walked 20k steps on our first day, there are an abundance of options a for dining. We wanted something classically Rome nearby to our hotel. The Yelp review of this restaurant was sufficiently positive to entice us. Being American, we appreciate the earlier-than-customary dining options. We arrived at 6pm without a reservation. We were seated immediately. The restaurant is intimate and very well staffed. The wood fire oven is front-and-center and the fresh mozzarella is prominent in display. We ordered a bottle of wine ... all options are very fairly priced. This is nice. We started with a Greek salad to share. It was unlike any American Greek salad ... and a really delight. It is early June but the tomatoes and peppers were ripe and crisp and really fresh. My wife ordered the Marguerite pizza; I opted for the Gorgonzola pizza (the effusive review on Yelp was compelling). Both were solid. We appreciate the thin crust and the crisp edged. The center of both, however, was doughy and somewhat undercooked. Looking around ... the restaurant was over 50% full even at this early hour. Most were Americans. We saw a good number of diners with pasta dishes ... and none were left unfinished. Sadly, we don't have any comparisons to weigh (yet). So, I cannot affirm any "best of" citations, it this is certainly a solid trattoria/pizzeria. The staff are attentive and the food served hot and fresh.
