I've been coming here for four years, never had a problem. The food was always good. Recently, I ordered a bento box to-go. The tempura was fine, teriyaki was fine. However, the four-piece imitation crab salad sushi tasted really bad; not fresh, spoiled. After trying to eat one piece, I threw all the sushi in the garbage. Spoiled seafood is dangerous, besides tasting horrible. I went in a couple days later and politely told them about it. At first, they said, "We just changed to a different brand of imitation crab salad. Other customers are saying they don't like the new kind either, so we plan to switch back to the other kind." I told her it actually tasted spoiled, and she wouldn't accept that. I sat down to decide whether to order something. The waitress came over; the same person I complained to in the beginning. I hinted at the situation again, hoping that she would at least offer me a complimentary order of sushi; NOT a whole role obviously, just a cheap single plate- the same four-piece order that came with the bento box, but a different variety. At no point did she show any willingness whatsoever to offer me a replacement order of sushi, or even apologize about the incident. Nothing... She then told me that "No other customers have complained, only you." (remember what she said before, about other customers saying they didn't like the new kind?) In a perfect world, (or even in this very imperfect one) She would say something like, "I'm very sorry that happened- can I offer you something to make it right?" ... Because there was not the slightest hint of that, I'm giving one star on principle. If I owned a restaurant, I would NEVER treat a customer so poorly. read more

I haven't been here for awhile! Now features a sushi carousel that was nicely stocked. Tried a few but had to order from the menu. The Cherry Blossom and Orange Blossom Rolls are my favorites. Add some Wasabi and meso soup and a meal is complete. New owners and our waiter seemed a bit uptight although the service was prompt. The neighborhood must be a bit shady too. It sits next door to a laundry mat. Was surprised to find that the bathroom doors were locked and a combination was necessary to use the facilities. read more

Pretty clean and decorative restaurant. The waiter was nice and did her job. We came at around 8:30pm so it was close to closing. There were a couple other people in the restaurant. Not much left on the conveyor belt. Nothing looked or tasted fresh. No wasabi or ginger either. The beef yakisoba tasted very bland and over cooked. The noodles were mushy and had no flavor at all. Sora is still a fairly new spot in Kelso and a welcome addition to the area. One of the first things I noticed when I walked in the door is that I felt I had entered a restaurant in Portland or Seattle, not in the Longview-Kelso area. The decor is upscale when compared to that typically found in other local eateries. Don't let the name fool you. You'll find far more than sushi on Sora's meu. They offer a wide variety of Japanese dishes including katsu, tempura, udon, teriyaki and yakisoba. I sampled the ample dinner bento box with chicken teriyaki accompanied by tempura shrimp and vegetables. While the tempura batter could have been a bit more crisp, the flavors were spot on. My chicken had a consistency that suggested it was previously frozen, but it was tender. Its sauce was sweet but gratefully not cloying. Service was quick and efficient, especially from the mostly Asian servers who were quite attentive. Although this was my first visit at Sora I felt welcome. It was quite clear that many other diners that evening were returning guests who were warmly greeted - and it's easy to see why they return. I know I will. read more

Sora has a bright inviting dining area. It appears very clean and highly organized. The staff was very friendly and offered prompt service. We never had an empty cup of tea or water. The highlight to Sora is their sushi. Thick cuts of fish with perfectly seasoned rice. We tried sushi, calamari, short ribs, and teriyaki beef. If you prefer your calamari lightly breaded this is your dish. I felt it could have used a little bit more seasoning, but it had a nice texture. The teriyaki sauce was good....quite comparable to competitors in the area. One comment was made that the tempura dipping sauce lacked flavor. The rice that came with my teriyaki beef must have been from the bottom of the cooker because it was crunchy in areas...not good. This is my first trip to a Sushi place. My daughter in law and granddaughter decided this was were we were going to have dinner and so off I went on a new experience. I must say - I really enjoyed the place. It is set up nice, bright and enjoyable for visiting. I learned what a "Benito Box" is and I filled it with Shrimp and Tempura vegetables. Worst 70 dollars ever spent!! Me and my dad were craving sushi all night, got to the restaurant 50 minutes before they close. Asked if we were to late to be seated and the man told us we were only aloud to get to go. We were standing waiting for our food and the lady rudely yelled for us to sit down. As we sit down we notice to nice lady's sitting in the booth. The worker rudely came up to them and told them to move so she could sweep. Not being a sushi eater, I had never previously visited this restaurant. Met some friends for dinner and discovered they had non-sushi options so we decided to try it out. The dining area is much nicer and more inviting than what you think from looking at the outside of the building. It was nice and clean and spacious. Our server was very friendly and helpful. The food we had was good. I ordered gyoza (deep fried) and chicken teriyaki. One friend had a tempura bowl and one had calimari and chicken karaage (deep fried soy and ginger flavored chicken nuggets). The food was all good. The teriyaki chicken was different than what you get at other teriyaki restaurants (no grill marks and heavy on the teriyaki sauce), but it was good. The gyoza was very good. Excellent food with excellent service! This is my and my husband's favorite local restaurant. We have been here many times and have never left disappointed. The food is consistently delicious! If you have a good appetite and it isn't happy hour, the the Jo-Sushi is the best item on the menu. They do Jo-Sushi right! With the sweet shrimp, real crab sushi, uni, and fried shrimp head along with everything you would expect, well, my husband orders it every time (unless it's happy hour!) I love my sushi with a light sear. I especially love that seared sushi shows up both on the menu and on the sushi belt. It's perfect every time! This restaurant has the best selection of sushi around here. I've tried a great many different kinds but still have many more to go to try them all. Price can be abit high depending on how much you eat but over all not bad. Parking doesn't seem to ever be an issue as they have plenty of room. Didn't know what to expect from this place but they had good ratings and we were hungry so we decided to give it a try. The hostess/ waiter wasn't the friendliest but the cook was nice.. we had requested the sushi to be put in separate containers since they were different orders. The waiter seemed irritated to the fact that we came in half an hour to closing but the cook was smiling and acknowledging. Very good service and food! We came in fairly late at night, and seated at a booth rather than the conveyor. Ordered edamame and gyoza to start off. These were good and found out that the toddler absolutely loves edamame so ended up ordering two. Had rolls for the adults and yakisoba for the toddler for dinner. Toddler tried one of the rolls and was okay until they got to the wrapper-not a fan. Oh well, will try later. The yakisoba portion was enormous, mild enough but had good flavor to it and plenty of veggies. Rolls were very good, with very fresh fish/seafood. Came out family style so we could share easily. My spouse and I visit Sora Sushi whenever we go up to Seattle to visit my family, her family, or run the Seattle Marathon. It's always one of the highlights of our trip. The sushi is absolutely frickin primo (big chunks of delicious and fresh fish)‼! I wish this restaurant were in our neighborhood because we'd probably be visiting 2-4 times a week but then I guess we wouldn't have as much to look forward to when we make that drive up north. One time, I made the mistake of putting in an order on the way south from Seattle only to find out there's a place in Woodinville also called Sora Sushi. I've never been to that restaurant and can't speak to it but I can definitely say without a doubt that the Sora Sushi in Kelso is absolutely fantastic! So, my heart sank when I got there and they said they never got my order and I found out my mistake. Nonetheless, they got the ball rolling quickly and I was enjoying the most delicious sushi in no time at all. I REALLY hope you guys weather the pandemic and look forward to the next time we get to dine at your restaurant. Thank you SO much for ALL the great food and service over the years. Pretty damn good. Whenever im in town my husband and i always have to stop to eat. Perk is they treat you like gold. We had a family/ friend gathering of 6 people. We were really impressed with the ambiance and decor. The paper lanterns are so pretty and the signage above the sushi bar was cool. It feels open and airy. I think there are still some kinks to work out in terms of service. We were warmly greeted when we entered but didn't see that guy again. Our hostess was a little nervous which is understandable. I ordered a soft drink and it never came. When my dinner came I asked for it again and that waiter brought it right away, but on the final bill I was charged for two, which was odd because you're supposed to get one free refill anyway. One of the waiters seemed a little out of it. My mom asked him what was in the dressing and he said he didn't know because he didn't make it. She asked if they sold it and he offered to ask. He came back with a little plastic cup of the dressing and said this time it was free. Another waiter spilled a little dish of dipping sauce on my brother's pants and coat. Accidents happen, no big deal, and the waiter was sincerely apologetic, but some small gesture would have been appreciated. The sushi is excellent and extremely well presented. The roll slices are generous. My husband thought the fat and gristle on the ribs should have been better trimmed, but I thought they were fine. It's a more upscale experience than Fuji Teriyaki, but they definitely can't beat Fuji's customer service. I'll probably come back in a few months to see if service has improved and if staff are more upbeat. That said, the food is truly excellent. read more
