I had the pleasure of enjoying brunch at Sorriso. It was a beautiful afternoon to have coffee and gossip. In my mind, I went back and forth between the highly recommended Chef John's Bread Pudding and The Rise and Shine Sandwich. I chose the latter. This Balthazar croissant, buttery and flaky, holding a generous amount of melted cheddar and sweet-ish bacon, created a beautiful layer of deliciousness. Oh my goodness! Each bite was a delight. Crunchy fries seasoned perfectly was just as addicting as the sweet potato fries. I have no choice but to go back for more and maybe try the bread pudding next. Even the timing to refill my coffee cup was just right. It just gave me a reason to smile. read more

The brunch spot in Chatham. On the weekends be prepared to wait: rain or shine. It could be 40 degrees and people will be eating outside - which is a testament to how good the food is! This is the third time my husband and I have been here for brunch. It is a 30 min drive for us, so when we are in the area, I try to find a way to swing by. Sadly we were very disappointed this last time. Not sure if they have a new cook, but it was far from being as good as I last remembered. We ordered the same dishes as what we had last time. The Benny however was supposed to be eggs Benedict, but eggs were not poached, instead hard boiled. There was no runny consistency which is key for such a standard dish. We also ordered the Lemon Ricotta pancakes. It clearly states that it comes with blueberry compote. I thought they forgot it. I asked server but they said that they blend it into the maple syrup for flavor. What ?? It was pure maple syrup, no hint of blueberry and just the thought of mixing the two sounded insane. That is not what I had last time and it clearly states on the menu that it is served with compote and side of maple syrup. Perhaps most disappointing was their signature bread pudding French toast. This is the dish that got me to come back. But this time, it was nothing at all like previous. It was actually dry and crunchy. I thought we must have ordered a different dish. But they said this is "the" bread pudding French toast. I was crushed. It was not only so different, it was not even good. Dry bread covered with apples, it was not the special bread pudding dish I fell in love with. I almost gave this review one star, but instead gave it two as the owner who seated us and our server were very nice. Such a shame. This place was a gem that I looked forward to going out of my way to visit. read more

The owner, Jimmy, has the warmest welcome for each guest and has ensured a very safe yet happy environment during COVID. I unfortunately had a very negative experience at Sorriso. Things started off fine with our server being very friendly and getting sat immediately. However, the issues began when our food arrived. My dulce de leche French toast left a lot to be desired, and for the high price point I was expecting more. I found it to be quite dry and lacking flavor. The best part of it was the dulce de leche drizzle, however there was barely enough for the French toast. My sister's pancakes were definitely the most disappointing though. They were dry, flavorless, and the strawberries on top were quite underripe. I encouraged her to ask to switch her meal since we were paying so much ($18 for the pancakes). So, she did just that. Our server was lovely, and immediately switched her meal to a burger. After this I was APPALLED with the treatment we received. I could see the cooks staring at us and even pointing at us THEN they proceeded to mock us. I could also hear them calling us names in Spanish (which I understand). This was entirely unprofessional and made me feel very uncomfortable to be sitting so close to the kitchen. When our server asked the manager to fix our ticket he glared over at our table and rolled his eyes. I would have brought the unprofessional and rude behavior of the kitchen staff to his attention, however he seemed just as annoyed with us. I have never received this level of disrespect at a restaurant before and I would not feel comfortable returning. Because of this treatment I would also never recommend this place. read more

What a charming spot for brunch. Delicious food, friendly service. The inside is charming. The outdoor tables are perfect in better weather. The staff and kitchen are allergy-conscious. They are quite accommodating, and communicative about any potential hazards. The food was quite good. They offer pancakes, eggs, French toast, salads, burgers, sandwiches and more. The price point is a touch high. $16 for a scrambled egg platter with breakfast meat, taters and toast. Not outrageous, but about double what you'd pay in a diner. The $0.75 charge for a shot glass of almond milk with our coffee was a bit tacky. However, despite the price point, the ingredients are mainly organic, the food is tasty, and the service is friendly. We didn't feel rushed. I'd imagine it gets packed for brunch on the weekend. We were very relaxed mid-week. read more

Plan ahead and expect a short wait if you're dining on a weekend. The hostess/owner and staff were very warm and welcoming. Service was very prompt. Menu offers something for every palate. HIGHLY recommend the Cinnamon Roll Pancakes, Limone Ricotta Pancakes, Sorriso Breakfast Sandwich, and the Anytime Avocado Toast. DO NOT GO HERE! Especially if you are a family, might be family own but the owners don't care about families. (Especially young children and pregnant mothers) and their outdoor umbrellas are a safety hazard!!! They can blow/tip over on their customers or blow into the street of the on coming traffic. My husband, one year old baby, and my 5 month pregnant self were going went there for this previous Father's Day for breakfast. June 19,2021 at 10:00am I called the day before the lady on the phone said it wouldn't be busy. But when we left at 11am it was a 1 hour wait. Liars... At 10am We got there it was a 30 min wait. Which seemed silly with four open tables out side. After 20 mins I just asked if my family and I could just only sit at the table that was vacant, since being 5 months pregnant there wasn't any place to sit or offered. The hostess said no. I was shocked no empathy. Then 10 mins later she sat us at the vacant table we were standing by /staring at the entire 30 min time. The hostess maybe owner lady was not accommodating at all nor really friendly. She didn't even offer water in that time frame we waited. She also said I would have to leave my brand new mini stroller outside if we sat inside. That gave concern, are they going to watch my stroller our entire stay so one one takes it? probably not... so we were forced to eat outside our only option. Also when we sat down we watched one of their the yellow outdoor umbrellas blew/tipped over. The umbrella looked like it could have hit one of the customers or better yet blew/traveled into the street with oncoming traffic. I saw the hostess run a Lightning speed to catch which she did luckily but it seemed like she was used (experienced) that to happening before. A sand bag for them would make a world of a difference but again they don't care. The only reason I give this place a one star is for the kitchen staff and waitress we had (with the long brown hair) she was attentive fast and helpful. She needs to teach both the owners a thing or two..... Also the food is meh, nothing special, not worth the hype. First of all, food was not good. I don't see the hype about it from all the other Yelp reviews. We ordered three different brunch dishes and none of them we enjoyed. I had very high hopes for the grilled cheese sandwich with figs jam, you would think the combination of sweet and savory would explode your taste buds, oh No! The fig's jam was so sweet that it overpowered the savory taste of the cheese and it's so greasy. My mom ordered the rise and shine croissant sandwich and she found it too greasy too. What a nice restaurant in the Madison/Chatham area! I came to Sorriso for a brunch/lunch on a Thursday. The place was packed! I love the vibe and the premise of the restaurant. It gives back to the community and serves a very special population. The service was attentive and helpful. I ordered the frittata which was great and my friend got the eggs Benedict which she said she enjoyed. I think one of my favorite parts is the meal we're the potatoes that came with our meals. OMG DELISH. The butter croissant was also delicious. Everything that came from the kitchen looked better than the next. I cant wait to go back and explore more of their menu. read more

With 3 minutes left before we were to be seated, the host said the wait time was not accurate and we had to wait another 15 to 20 minutes, which would have been an hour wait. The host did not apologize for the inaccuracy of the app & basically lied about wait times. Disappointing service. read more

My problem is we were seated by the kitchen and noticed 2 out of 3 of the cooks were wearing gloves, not only that but this basically led to cross contamination. The chef that wasn't wearing gloves would wipe his hands on a dirty rag, then the rag would touch the food, he would scroll through his phone and then back to grabbing toast or flipping pancakes with his bare hands. Been here a handful of times, and it's been a hit or miss. I really, really wanted to like this place - it was so promising, but after this last visit I'm just left with too many disappointments. (they've been adding up) At the end of the meal, the manager (I think) approached and asked how things were. I was honest in my response: really long wait, but rushed food - sort of half off the plate. Sloppy. Not done right. 35 min. wait outside (we lucked out, it was cold but sunny). 40+ min. wait for food after the order was taken (but our server was lovely). Once the breakfast - more like brunch - arrived, my food was slapped on the plate, must have slid off, so, they shoveled it back in place leaving the side of the plate greasy and really unappetizing. My toast was not toasty. Not the first time I'm getting this dish, not the first time it's coming in so-so. My guests, my parents, ordered a waffle with a side of strawberries - which were quite underwhelming at an extra $2 (that's like charging $1 for a third of a berry). My dad specifically asked for a soft scramble, but received a scrambled brick. As plate presentation goes, there's none. You get bare bones. The manager apologized by putting the blame on the lack of kitchen staff. It wasn't the first time I heard this excuse at this establishment, and I'm beginning to wonder if it's the norm - their standard "go-to" excuse. I said I was sorry to hear the chef fell and broke his leg, but that doesn't change any of my bill. I go out to a restaurant, I pay the asking prices, and in return I expect a good meal served in an appropriate time frame. If there is a staff shortage, your customers should know upon entering your establishment, for example: we are experiencing long waits at the moment because... we are short-staffed today, and are offering coffee on the house... we apologize in advance for some delays today... Be upfront with your customers about your shortcomings BEFOREHAND, not after the fact. Give me a choice, either I stay, have a coffee and wait for a table and food - 'cause I have the time, or I go elsewhere. But guess what?! I'd be back as a customer because of your honesty. But now, not so much. You lost me. I chose YOUR restaurant to bring my family and spend my money at, and I expected 100% service. After all, you expect me to pay 100% of my bill. It's a fair exchange, isn't it? I did 120% of my share. You did about 75%, and it wasn't the first time. Fool me once - benefit of the doubt. Bananas Foster French Toast was delicious. Small serving, only 3.5 small triangles of bread. Tiny servings, delicious but not satisfying. Water glass was empty for approximately 20 minutes as three servers walked past my empty glass that I held up in the air in my hand, they did take food orders from tables next to me and never made eye contact or stopped by to check on my food or if satisfied after dropping off food. I'm leaving place thirsty and had to practically beg for a second glass of water! The owner only filled my glass with water after she noticed me taking pictures of my empty glass and posting my review. 20 plus m'inities after meal was finished and check was dropped off as shown in picture. My reviews are honest and fair to allow business to correct issues. Water glass was empty for over twenty minutes, staff walked past glass at least six times. I held empty glass in air on several occasions without eye contact from any of the servers. Honest feedback Food was good, small portions. Staff never checked on food or filled empty water glasses until owner noticed me taking pictures of my glass and posting a review before leaving. Please add additional staff or train staff to be attentive to customers and or at the very least top off empty water glasses. read more

Such a great experience and a nice breakfast/brunch/lunch spot with an admirable mission as to why the dining spot exists. Tastefully appointed/decorated inside and out. The portions of the omelet breakfasts my co-dinners had were very generous and I had the Greek yogurt parfait which was also good despite the strawberries and blueberries on it being tasteless (guessing August is way passed in season for either). With all these positives, the prices are outsized on the high side but I guess that's everywhere these days. Given the prices, it's the only reason I wouldn't/couldn't be a regular and don't let that deter you from dining here, at least on a special occasion. I understand that weekends are jammed but we went on a weekday and had no problem having a leisurely "late" breakfast at 9am. read more

I love this place. So friendly, bright, cheerful all around. The service is always so wonderful. The space itself is very pretty. It's always busy and draws a really pleasant and polite crowd. Plus, the owners do really great work with people with disabilities. The food is terrific. I've had the Bella's Blue Salad, the quattro formaggio omelet, and the Rise and Shine breakfast sandwich. All were carefully prepared and utterly delicious. The cubes bacon in maple syrup is a beautiful indulgence. The bacon at Sorriso is so good! They use fresh, natural and most of the time organic ingredients. Everything is made to order. I would recommend a couple of items: Their lemon pancakes, anything with their pesto and their tuna (believe it or not). We have gone on Sundays with a large group and waited a while to be seated but that's expected. It seats probably less than 50 but you never feel rushed. Yellow + brunch totally works so well together!! Came at 11:45 on a Saturday morning and waited 15 minutes for a party of 2. VERY busy and they don't take reservations so you're better off coming early. I ordered the sorriso morning breakfast sandwich and my friend got the greco omelette. We shared the maple bacon bites. The bacon was harder to chew than I thought....I hoped it would be tender. but you can't go wrong with maple and bacon. My sandwich was incredible. The sourdough is so chewy and fresh, and they fried the eggs perfectly with the yolk still runny. The potatoes are crispy and delicious. One of my fave brunch spots. They prepare their creative, diverse menu items with fresh, local ingredients. Everything is delish! The long wait for a table on Sunday mornings is evidence of how yummy Sorriso's food is. I love their Eat Happy Omelet (custom made w/egg whites), their Limone Ricotta pancakes and all varieties of French Toast. Their Breakfast Bread Pudding, which was to-die-for, seems to have disappeared from the menu. I hope they'll bring it back soon. I feel good patronizing a restaurant that provides special needs students with job training. That's righteous. read more

Really disappointed to write this review. This place has been an all time favorite place for me to go to. Ever since COVID - I have not been going out much to eat lately since the weather got cold, but for the holiday weekend I decided to meet up with my friend to catch up. The weather was not cold - but it was brisk. We always love going to Sorriso since the food is great and has a great mission. Since COVID they only have outdoor dining, so we did our due diligence and my friend called in advance to understand what the protocol was to get seated. She was told - you would be put on a waiting list if you call in advance. She did just that, and was told there would be an additional 15-20 min. When my friend got there, she notified one of the servers that she was there. We were waiting for about 20-25 min and the hostess asked us for the name, again and to confirm if we were on the list. After that she said we were next and would be seated next. Multiple parties came after us and they were seated and we were still waiting. One party was her friends, who said its a 15-20 min wait and they were seated right away. At the end of 30 minutes of waiting, we were the only ones left waiting, everyone else was seated. We were so disappointed with this treatment, even if they were honest and got us seated ASAP that's all we wanted. They did not even try to fix the issue and I've never been treated like this to get a seat. I hate writing this about small businesses at this time, but the treatment was unacceptable. read more

I can see why this restaurant is so popular. The staff is very friendly and the place has a nice cheerful vibe. The menu offers many delectable items. I had the ricotta pancakes w real maple syrup and berries on the side. They were delicious and the serving was generous. My husband had the eggs fiorentine that has the sautéed spinach and poached eggs w hollandaise sauce. Our only complaint was he had asked for the eggs to be soft but they were well done and not soft. I'm sure they would have redone the order but he said the sauce was so good that he just kept eating. I also missed smoked salmon. Perhaps it was on the menu somewhere and I missed it. read more

I love this restaurant and have been eating here for many years. My favorite breakfast, Bananas Foster, has always been a delight. Today unfortunately it was a gooey mess of almost solid caramel. The bananas and pecans were stuck in the caramel like a sticky bun and were inedible. Really nice place. The morning we went we ordered pancakes and an egg skillet. The decor and service were excellent! We started with the corned beef and egg skillet. The corned beef was tough to cut and eat. (Chef should try cooking it in a slow cooker) then only reheat on the flat top at the time of service. It will come out much more tender this way. I thought the house made sausages were dried out and not very flavorful. (Almost seemed like they were deep fried) The pancakes were good and the breakfast potatoes with the eggs were delicious. We will definitely come back and try again. The people and the place are terrific. Small growing pains on the food will all work out! read more
