We have celebrated and have many memories here. Two years ago, i would have given 10 stars and even another 10 back in March. Unfortunately, this trip in June i think was just off for whatever reason. My recommendation is to make sure management educates the servers the identity of the different pastas you serve. We had a very sweet server but, when paying for high dollar wine and menu items, i expect what i order. She tried to convince me that rigatoni bolognese is their lasagna bolognese. There is a complete difference in the two pastas. So, instead of just excepting this, i convinced her to check, after telling me several times THE RIGATONI i was looking at was lasagna. She soon apologized and we got the amazing lasagna we have had there every time, only after everyone, except the man paying for the meal had enjoyed their meals. SMH. Anyhow! The Highlight of our trip. The hostess was a doll. Super friendly. Our waitress was phenomenal. We ordered Calamari and Fresh mozzarella with garlic bread. Super tasty. The bread they serve with the olive oil and fixings was to die for. Kids pizza was delicious!!!! We shared the lasagna bolognese, wonderful on the smaller side for the price we paid. Sortino's Italian Kitchen @Kalahari Resort in Round Rock July 4, 2024 When I arrived at the front of restaurant and stated, "table for one" I was asked if sitting at the bar was okay because they were extremely busy and wanted to save tables for more than one customer. I get it, but that could've been said a little friendlier. I went to bar not minding at all, noticed there were many empty seats as well as empty tables. The bartender was chatting with a customer that was taking care of his bill. However, it was a friendly chit chat conversation, not about the bill or food, so obviously he wasn't in any hurry. After about 5 min the bartender was finished, I asked if this particular seat was available. He said yes, but abruptly said "I'll clean it in a little while, I'm extremely busy." I said, "okay no problem." It wasn't that messy. I then told him, that I was planning to eat and would like a Dos Equis. He said "it will have to be about 20 minutes before I can get to it because I'm extremely busy. I'm backed up with all the orders". The way he expressed that information to me was less than polite. So now this restaurant has a not so nice hostess and bartender. I replied, "saying that in the way you just did won't produce a good tip". He said, "just trying to keep it real and honest". The whole time he was telling me all of this, he could've been pouring the draft beer. I left the bar and went back to the hostess and asked to be seated at the three top that I saw that was empty or the table at the back that had one chair and booth seat on the other side because I evidently was not going to be waited on anytime soon at the bar. The hostess was not happy about my request to be seated at a table. She snapped up a menu and huffed. As I'm walking, I count at least 6 or 7 EMPTY tables. It was during the 4th of July celebration outside of the hotel and I did notice that the wait staff had been waiting on the customers outside of the restaurant (in the hallway) as well as the people on the balconies. Yes, they were busy, but inside the restaurant never filled up. In fact, it cleared out while I was dining. I had the sweetest/friendliest, professional waitress that was very efficient. I got my drink in about ten minutes and food shortly after that. My son joined me a few minutes later and our waitress brought his drink and food out in a very short time. There was another waitress that stopped and talked to us a little later. She was very friendly fun to talk to and professional. I've been a bartender at extremely busy restaurants and bars in Houston, as well as managers of hotels. I understand being swamped. But I also understand the correct and polite way to talk to a customer or guest. The impression that I was given about me sitting at a table by myself was, I am not as important as two or more customers. I think that policy needs to be reviewed. In addition, if employees cannot handle the pressure of a restaurant rush, they need to be trained more extensively and taught the proper way to talk to a customer. In my experience, every customer and guest that comes in to an establishment is important. read more

Made reservations on open table for 8pm. Arrived 5 til and was told table would be ready in 10 minutes. 15 minutes later asked about our table and was told it'd be another 10 to 15 minutes. Order some drinks and 20 minutes go by so I go to ask the hostess for a third time when our table would be ready. She responds, "Oh Shit" to which I reply you forgot about us didn't you. She said she was forgetting a lot of things today, but that she would find us a table. No worries though, have a nice cup of Sangria and about to enjoy a tasty meal at this fancy resort. We ordered a Salad, 4 pasta dishes, and a kids meal. Pre meal bread service with olive oil and vinegar was a real hit with us, but unfortunately is the only positive thing I can say about the rest of the experience. Our server disappeared and we watched every table around us get served. The restaurant was freezing so a few of us left to get jackets from our 9th floor room and were able to return before we saw our server again. When our server finally brought out our food it was obvious everything other than the salad had been sitting under a warming lamp forever. The two dishes with chicken weren't edible because of how dried out the chicken and we sent both dishes back. The dishes we didn't send back showed signs of being dried out on a warming station with noodles all being far past al diente. Our reordered food arrived long after everyone was finished eating, but was much improved from the first attempt. The manager came to the table but didn't offer anything to try and salvage our experience. All in we spent over $200 and almost 3 hours on this disaster meal, and now know that eating off resort will save us both time and money. read more

Now for sure I know the staff is racist and discriminatory. I can't believe it happened again! First off, we had an 8:30 pm reservation which was pointless. We had to go to the counter and remind the host that we were still waiting. About 15 minutes later we had to ask a bus boy if anyone was going to come tend to us. That was after noticing a waiter ask the table next to us for refills. After the waiter finally took our order , appetizers came and everything was ok until we started noticing too much time was passing and our food had not made it to us. Awhile later the waiter came to ask if we were ready for our check . We were in disbelief . We told him we hadn't eaten anything but our appetizers he apologized and went to the back. At this time the manager came out with an entire team to prep outdoor tables for a large party of sorry to say WHITE people. That was the fastest we had seen anyone there work for anyone. Meanwhile the other party next to us was already being served even though they got there after we did . We were sitting there without our food or any kind of attention from management or staff for that matter . After she was done kissing ass, she finally made her way to our table. She apologized and said she was going back to kitchen to see what the problem was and that she would take care of us . Our food did make its way to our table after our kids practically fell asleep waiting for it and we never saw the manager again . She did not take care of us . We paid the full ticket which in my opinion should have been discounted at the least . We should have not had to pay a cent for it !!!! No discount not even a free dessert offer which is the least they could've done . Very disappointed at the experience we had again. read more

Five stars for us all around Calamari was nice and crispy with a choice of sauces that were plenty flavorful. I got the Carbonara which was creamy but not heavy where it's drowning in sauce. The portion size was plenty for the price and didn't make me feel like a balloon when I left. For a nice dinner with the GF this place hits the spot as the ambiance is tasteful but not in a manner where you can't dress casually. We ate there twice in five days during our stay at Kalahari resort. We are fans of good Italian. This place definitely fits the bill. Lasagna was on point. Served in a cast iron boat. Definitely the best dish we tried. The brick oven pizzas are very good. Chicken Parmesan was good but not spectacular. Meat & Cheese charcuterie board was great. Only thing I would add to it would be mozzarella. Service was exceptional and very attentive. Staff was very friendly & welcoming. Would go back just for the the lasagna. read more

My family came into the restaurant before the late night rush and the staff was super attentive, friendly and patient. We had questions due to trying to decide what to eat for a family of 5 and the staff was phenomenal. John and the two young ladies were truly a delight and they not only made that visit special but the entire stay special. The pizza was tasty as well. Sauce was not too salty and tasted as if they used quality ingredients. There is "to go" part of this restaurant right next to the main entrance. You can get Italian sub sandwiches and pizza by the slice there. My kids swore the pizza was the BEST. My husband and I took the recommendation of the guy working there and opted for the grinder sandwich. It was LEGIT!!! We went back the next day and all got it again. We went to Sortino's for the first time last week. Sam was an amazing waitress. Even with a full section on a busy Thursday, she managed to stay on top of everything. The managers checked on us twice. My husband ordered the Shrimp Scampi, it came out amazing and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. My chicken Parmigiana was huge, the sauce was full of tomatoes and spices. The chicken was fried to perfection. Unlike a lot of restaurants, there wasn't too much pasta. Opted to purchase a sandwich & a wrap from this restaurant located just inside Kalahari because it was convenient to their outdoor concert venue. Not only did the simple order take 25 minutes, the grinder was cold and the wrap hardly had any chicken at all. Observing their workflow, since their is little else to do given the limited number of tables, pizzas and room service orders are given priority with all other orders continually passed over until they catch up.
