Our friends and I went on a double date to this Mediterranean restaurant in Fort Lauderdale. The valet only parking was very convenient since it's right next to the restaurant, and we were greeted by beautiful decor and a waterfront view. The restaurant is dimly lit, giving cozy vibes. Our waitress was very attentive and made choosing from the menu easy. We ordered the baba ghanoush, tzatziki, hummus with freshly made pita bread, spinach and cheese pide, along with the watermelon feta salad and the mixed grill with lamb chops and grilled chicken over flavorful rice. Everything was delicious and full of flavor. Even there drinks were perfectly made. We opted for espresso martinis and spicy margaritas. Great ambiance and the location for this restaurant was a beautiful resort marina view. The appetizers were delicious, 8 out of 10. Now our expectations for our entrees to be just as good if not better seems reasonable. Rack of lamb - 9 NY sirloin- 4 (tough to chew) Dorado special - 8 Grilled octopus -3 (too dry and hard to chew) looked nothing like previously posted image of the dish. Very disappointed on this dish and we ordered 2 dishes. 1 of the dish was not eaten and manager just said he was going to bring it to the chef's attention. I had no idea about Sotogrande until I had booked a reservation for Calusso and after checking out the menu, decided to head downstairs to check out Sotogrande. It was much livelier than Calusso, with acoustic music and games on at the bar. We grabbed a seat at the bar and were greeted by Christopher who was very friendly and welcoming as well as attentive! I even left my phone in the restroom and the time I went back, it was given to hostess than to him which was a relief! I started off with a lemon drop martini which was amazing! The perfect balance of sweet and tart. We then had the Greek salad- not as authentic as imagined but still delicious and chicken skewers with patatas brava and vegetables . He said it would be a LOT of food and it certainly was- particularly the sides of patatas brava and vegetables which were enormous servings. We split the skewer so didn't have a lot of protein but was balance with all the sides we had. The chicken seemed a bit undercooked and lacked flavor. The vegetables were honestly my favorite, especially the broccolini cooked to perfection. They also serve the sides- I didn't realize one was pure garlic and used too much as its next to tzatziki so would be a suggestion to explain. We ended our night with the baklava which was the best I've had! Overall, it's a great lively spot for celebrations or good spot to grab a drink or dinner at the bar! You don't have to stay at Pier 66 to enjoy this restaurant. They feature both inside and outside (water side) dining, although it might be tougher to get the outside seats when the weather is pleasant. Everything I had was excellent, from the eggplant dip to the roasted vegetables and especially the watermellow salad. My friend had the strip steak and was very happy but didn't care for the pistachio sauce on top which is not mentioned on the menu. Service was friendly and well educated in what they were serving. There was a lengthy wait on an item but it was finally brought out. If you are staying at Pier 66 then this is my recommend restaurant. Prices are reasonable on most things. As of this writing valet is your only option at $16.00 for up to 4 hours I think it was. Great job overall and I feel that anyone that rated it at 3 stars or below either had an off night or is judging it too harshly. read more

Sotogrande is located on the property of the newly renovated Pier 66. When you pull up, you can park with the hotel valet and then walk down a flight of stairs that wrap around the swimming pools. You end up in the back of the property where the marina is located. We sat outside on a beautiful cool afternoon for lunch looking out at amazing boats in the marina. The atmosphere is very clean and elegant. They were also kind enough to have heaters outside as it was unusually cool. Our waiter, Nesh, was very kind and had a great sense of humor. He helped us put together a nice meal where we could try several dishes to share. For the appetizer, we ordered the mixed mezze plate which is a sampler of items, including tzatziki, hummus and baba ghanoush along with delicious pita served warm. We then ordered the mixed vegetables which were fresh and delicious. We also shared the fig salad with candied walnuts and balsamic vinaigrette. You can add a protein to the salad - falafel, chicken or shrimp. Sotogrande is a wonderful place to sit, have a great meal and enjoy the view of the new, beautiful property at Pier 66. read more

Sotogrande is conveniently located in Pier 66, offering amazing views and breathtaking sunsets. The menu is Mediterranean-inspired, and despite our server's recommendation of the steak, our favorite dishes were the catch of the day and the lamb. The desserts were delicious, especially the Basque cake. What truly surprised us was the quality of their wines. They have some wines specifically imported by one of the owners, and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality. We will definitely return when the weather is cooler to enjoy some bites and their delicious wines. Loved the outside area. Beautiful view especially at sunset. I arrived a bit later than my friends, when I got there, they had drinks already and our server immediately came to offer me one. She gave us time to talk a bit, look at the menu and place our appetizer orders, making some recommendations as well. The Fig salad was excellent, absolutely recommended it. And it's a good portion to share or to have as an entrée as you can add protein to it for an added cost. We also had the Halloumi, we all enjoyed it and it's another great sharing plate. The Muhammara we all agreed wasn't great. We all have had better at other restaurants. With our meal we had another drink. The entrees were all delicious. I had the Zarazuela de Mariscos and was very happy with the amount of fish, shrimp, and mussels it has. It was a bit spicy but amazingly flavorful. My friends had the NY Strip and added the patatas bravas as a side. They said their steak was cooked perfectly and I got to try the potatoes and can say they were very good too. We kept talking and having a good time but realized we had been a long time with empty wine glasses. Thinking our server, who had been very attentive throughout the night, would be coming over soon to ask if we wanted another glass or desert, we were very surprised when she asked if we were done and would like to have boxes to go. As we asked for dessert she said the "kitchen is closed". Would have been nice to have a heads up. We knew exactly what we wanted to try so that was disappointing. So the vibe turned immediately, especially being a Friday night and being kicked out at 10pm. It specializes in the flavors and foods of Spain and the Eastern Mediterranean. its sparkling claim, has beautiful decor and attentive service. The menu is, however, very limited, not a lot to it. I was going to order lamb chops until I found out that they would only prepare them medium, not rare, the chops were thin and Australian....sounded to me like mutton. So, I got the mussels which I was told were done in a Turkish style of cuisine. They were good but for me nothing special. What an amazing experience! The food, the atmosphere, the service all 5 stars. It is located at the new Pier Sixty-Six resort. Theme is Mediterranean Tapas. Everything is great for sharing. We started with mahumara (red pepper and walnut dip) and baba ganoush (eggplant dip) and they each had so much flavor. They are served with fresh made puffy pita. We shared some kabobs as well, my favorite was the swordfish. The octopus was tender, the mussels were in a red sauce with soppressata, the steak comes sliced for easy sharing. Patatas Bravas and cauliflower were more than we needed; both had wonderful seasoning. Nice wine selection. Started with a Corfu Blue Sky vodka drink and they made sure it was not too sweet. We came here to celebrate my husband's birthday. They sat us outside right by the entrance of the restaurant overlooking the dock. Our waiter was very nice and knew the menu very well. He gave us a quick run down of the specials and the menus concept. We ordered the chili garlic prawn to start. The prawns were a good size, it had the garlic flavor but that was it was lacking other spices. It only had the garlic flavor and that's it. My octopus came out perfect. It was not overcooked but yet charred a bit to give it the crispy texture. I loved it. My husband's steak was really good and full of flavor but it was way over done to his liking. We hesitated to return it but glad we did bc the next one came out perfect. I would love to come back to try their other dishes and maybe sit on the inside so we could enjoy the live band. read more

Not sure where to start! The ambiance is gorgeous, reminds me of Tulum in a sense. The service was good, it was tough at first because it took us 20 minutes to get an order in and our appetizer came before our drinks did:/ but everything that was set on the table was absolutely delicious. Our sangrias were very strong, especially for someone who doesn't drink much that took me outbut the baby squid was so unique in flavor and it was just the right amount. Solid 3 stars for the location overlooking the Pier-66 marina and the beautiful boats, beautiful decor and the staff walking around in cute Mediterranean motif uniforms. Fair warning, you are paying for that scenery and the decorations. Basque cheesecake is $24 when I can get the most amazing OG version for €6 in San Sebastián, Spain? I think the burger was the most inexpensive main at $28 but that was over salted. My table mate ordered the NY strip, but because they sliced it up, it was dry and more gray than pink middle. I will say the skewers looked great, especially the swordfish, but the supposed tapas menu pricing is not true Spanish style, more like Monte Carlo €. Come here if you want to really impress a client or material date with its grandeur. Don't come here if you value a good meal that won't set the average Joe back. read more

Anticipation was high for our first visit to Soto grande, or for that matter any of the new restaurants at the Redeveloped Pier 66. Overall, the properties very beautiful, but it's very large. Problem number one they have to fix is when you're dropping the car off at the ballet there needs to be better signage and more informed ballet attendance so they send you in the right direction instead of the wrong direction as you walk 3 to 10 minutes to get to the restaurant. Inside the misinformation theme continues as the menu lists lemon chicken is one of the four protein choices on main dishes. Fortunately, we asked a question about it and it turns out it's Cornish game hen. When I said, never mind I don't want that, but Akst, why don't they just call it that, the waiter said it was originally on the menu but very few people ordered it. I think they took the wrong lesson from that. Three of us ordered the New York strip steak. One came out accurately prepared to our friends liking. The two of us who ordered medium rare did not get the steaks that way. One came rare one came medium. Nothing here was bad, but this is a pricey restaurant, in a new setting that is beautiful, but somewhat pretentious. Nothing was great either. We avoided ordering the lamb as well because we were told it was only prepared medium to medium well. Is this kitchen, composed solely of chefs thrown out by Gordon Ramsay because I don't think that's the way people prefer lamb and the explanation we were given there about the Phat not rendering out properly Made no sense. Change the thickness of the cut. Service was weird in the sense that the server was very nice communicative and pleasant, but then went long stretches of simply ignoring the table. They were numerous empty tables, so I don't think the place was packed. All in all I was disappointed and didn't think that it was a good value. When we returned to the Valet, the restaurant staff had told us the proper way to go and we made it in three minutes instead of 10. read more

Sotogrande was a mixed experience and I was surprised as I had gone to the related restaurant Calusa's (upstairs from Sotogrande) the week prior and it was excellent. Unlike Calusa's the views are compromised at Sotogrande and most likely the marina view will be obstructed by boats. What was good was the nice service and give the hostess a raise because a better first impression would be impossible. We ordered several items and none, not one was impressive. Dip portions were small and I've had better, much better. However one dip came in a nice edible eggplant shell. A Cornish Hen entree was a large sized portion but it was strange as the dark meat was very good but the rest was dry and flavorless and I know that white meat can be drier but it was like a different chef prepared the dish. Fish was also dry and though the accompaniments were fine, it was not enough to save the fish from disappointment. A Poached Pear dessert looked better than it tasted and it was okay but nothing more, kind of like the restaurant. read more

My wife and I dined at Sotogrande for the first time on Sunday. Beautiful restaurant and bar at Pier 66. Vic and Hassan were outstanding bartenders and hosts. GM Christain looks about 16 years old but claims to be mid 20's. Super accommodating and charming. He was gracious enough to bring Chef Michael to meet us. Chef spent about 20 minutes with us and indulging us with his story and passion for amazing Mediterranean food. Everything was delicious and the vibe , even on a Sunday was perfect. From the beautiful setting to the amazing service, this place was not only delicious but an absolute 5 star restaurant. The menu, while some might think is small, offered many options. The fresh cooked pita bread with hummus was so soft and flavorful. Next was a watermelon salad with feta and olive tapenade that made your mouth water. The portions were big and delicious. We ended up ordering the lamb skewers from the appetizer menu and it was a meal in itself. The lamb was cooked to perfection with a hefty serving of jasmine rice. From the hostess to the waitress, to the management coming to check on us, what superb customer service. This is definitely a place I will be retuning to. read more

Sadly, last Sunday after a good time as usual we were shocked that we had been charged $34 for a cocktail! A delicious one but 34 each? A pretty normal Casa Amigos mezcal bottle cocktail. The setting and the food was exquisite! The service for what we expected fell short and was disappointing. We arrived at 6:30pm and opted to sit outside and there may have been only one or two other tables with customers. As well, the dining room inside was practically empty. It took an unusually long time (15-20 mins) to get our first drinks. As well, the bottle of tap water initially delivered to us remained empty as did our water glasses again for a long time. The server passed by multiple times as more tables began to fill in outside, and didn't notice the empty bottles/glasses. Efforts to "flag" him down went unnoticed as he rarely bothered to look at our table after setting down our main courses. Once we completed our main courses we again sat for a considerable amount of time with the dirty plates in front of us. By the time we saw him again, we were not interested in dessert and asked for the check. He did make a nice gesture and brought out a special dessert as I had indicated on my reservation that we were celebrating a birthday. All in all the atmosphere and food were fabulous, but the service not so much. We'll likely visit the other restaurants in Pier 66 before we consider going back to Sotogrande. read more

Great service and a diverse menu. I suggest eating outside for a lovely view of the yachts set on a beautiful patio with wonderful garden type atmosphere. Inside is attractive but the sound level is uncomfortable and very loud. I suggest going early if you opt for Inside at a table or the bar. read more
