    Mild Korean chicken sandwich!
    Martha G.

Consistent hot fresh yummy sandwiches and wings! Mild , Regular and Spicy options. I got mild and shared with a toddler. Fries are crispy light and airy. They remind me of like truffle fries. The sandwiches have cabbage slaw and the chicken is sauced. I loved it! Order ahead if you can. They make orders fresh. Worth the wait! The bar Soul Chicken is in is a little lame but the chicken makes up for it if you want to eat in the establishment. Diet option is Diet Coke.

I gotta say this... SOUL Chicken is THAT spot!!! After living in Korea for years, I can honestly say this is hands down the most authentic Korean fried chicken I've had in forever. The food is next level crispy, flavorful, just perfection. On top of that, the owner is amazing you can tell he really cares about making sure every single customer is happy. That kind of energy is rare these days. The vibe inside? Completely unexpected. From the outside, you might not think much, but once you step in... mind blown. The ambiance is dope and makes you feel like you found a hidden gem. I can't wait to go back... honestly, I might pull up again tonight after writing this because it's just THAT good. If you love Korean fried chicken, trust me you don't want to miss this spot.

1989 the number, another summer! (Get down!) Sound of the funky drummer! Music hitting your heart 'cause I know you got SOUL!!! (Brothers and sisters, HEY!) Listen if you're missing y'all Swingin' while I'm singin'... About this little Korean Fried Chicken (KFC) place that's got me singin' that old school Public Enemy jam! Located at the end of a little old strip mall, which might be hard to get to, primarily because of road construction next to it. Keep in mind that parking can be a pain it it's busy. And I really hate to say this, but the road construction is just a complete turn-off. But once you get here and try their wings, you'll completely forget about all that. Let's get straight to the KFC of things and explain why I've got SOUL!!! 20pc Chicken Wing Family Combo ($38.95), which includes 2 flavors, 2 sides, and 2 drinks. We tried the Honey and Spicy Yang Nyeom, and maaaaan talk about Soul For Real! The honey flavor was a perfect crisp and sweetness, a perfect tenderness, a perfect everything! I feel they use olive oil to deep fry them, but don't quote me on that. Even the Yang Nyeom spiciness was fairly manageable and simply flawless. Next time, I'm gonna go for Hell's Gate to challenge myself and some naked wings to go along with it. As for staff and service, the two ladies that helped us were cordial and pleasant. We mainly dealt with Cheryl, who seemed to be running the place. She gave us sauce samples, made recommendations, took our order, and showed us where to refill our water glasses at the bar. The bar and dining area is part of Bliss Lounge, a karaoke bar that shares the stage while you chill here with a beer, wings, and a song. Someday, I'll share a rap y'all! But for now, if you haven't tried these wings, you're missin' out!

My friends and I love finding new bars to play darts in Honolulu, and Soul Chicken was such a great find! We got there at 4pm and didn't leave til 11... We met the owner, who also DJs at the bar, and he is so much fun. We ended up chatting with him late into the night. The servers are also incredible and make you feel like family. The fried chicken is great - crunchy and flavorful on the outside and juicy on the inside! Also love the toppoki, calamari rings and cheese curds - the ultimate bar food. Can't wait to come back next time I'm in Honolulu.

Very good! Located near HCC with parking lots on both sides of it, Soul Chicken is a solid chicken spot! I have only been outside for a pick up order but the outside looked clean and the service was efficient. The order was ready when it was meant to be. The chicken was very flavorful and the sauces definitely added a lot to the plate. The portion was also quite large and priced reasonably for what they gave. The bowls looked good and I will definitely be back.

Yes. Yes. Yes. My husband is an avid Korean Fried Chicken lover, so you know we have to hit them all. Soul chicken has been our favorite thus far!! You can order at the to-go window outside, but you can also eat inside at the bar area (Bliss karaoke). The menu is almost the same but it's worth sitting inside if you're with a group, or if you want to enjoy your food HOT 'n FRESH. We ordered just about every single flavor offered on the menu, and there wasn't a single bad one. We love the original (naked one) and the Hell's Gate (no refund, no lawsuit). It was not as spicy as I was expecting it to be, honestly, but it was still delicious! We also l loved all the sides! The corn salad tastes just like the ones you order in Korea, and the dduk with yangneom sauce was yummm. The fries were crispy and don't forget to order some pickled radish for that delicious, vinegary crunch. The service was super friendly and they did a great job of explaining things and answering questions to us first-timers. Parking is also easy since they're in an actual shopping plaza with their own lot. I know the construction around that area is a pain, but honestly it's worth venturing into this area if you want a solid meal of Korean Fried Chicken!! Can't wait to be back.

The fried chicken wings from here are so delicious. I had lunch here with Auntie Nadine. Our cashier, Cheryl, was nice enough to let us sit inside Bliss Lounge so that we'd be more comfortable in the A/C. We both opted for the six piece bone in combo. It came with one side and one drink. Nadine got her chicken with honey and chose the gimmari as her side. I got the chicken with shoyu and chose the mandoo as my side. I've never even heard of gimmari (deep fried glass noodles in seaweed) before this place. I really liked it, but Nadine preferred the mandoo. Both the honey and shoyu flavorings were delicious. Obviously, the honey chicken was on the sweeter side. If that's what you like go for the honey. Definitely five stars for the chicken, gimmari, mandoo and the service from Cheryl.

Lunch in Kalihi, Honolulu, Hawaii... My friend, Angel H., is a chicken connoisseur. I thought that she would be a great foodie companion to go with me to Soul Chicken. We've passed by this vendor on Dillingham Boulevard many times because Costco is nearby. We heard that it was somehow connected with Bliss Lounge next door. We found out that the owner does own both businesses. We were invited to dine inside the lounge (instead of sitting outside with the wind, exhaust fumes, and traffic passing by). Great idea because of the air conditioning, convenient restroom, and comfy booth seating! Cheryl was our friendly, helpful cashier. She took our orders, told us where the entrance to Bliss Lounge was; turned the air conditioning on for us; told us where the best seat was for maximum AC; brought our meals to us; and was the perfect, cheerful, efficient host! Angel ordered the Shoyu Chicken Wings and Mandoo. I got the Honey Chicken Wings and Gimmari. We shared so that we could have a taste of each other's meals. I liked everything. I wouldn't be able to pick a favorite because each item was good in its own way. Both types of chicken wings were tasty and crunchy on the outside, and moist on the inside. Both sides (Mandoo and Gimmari) were delicious! We had a wonderful experience - mostly because of Cheryl! We look forward to returning! We really appreciated the free shared parking!

First time here. You can order online or by phone. However, I decided to visit in person. Soup Chicken is located inside the Bliss lounge. I came here on a Friday and checked out the menu. I ordered the boneless crispy chicken Yang Nyeom style, but when I got home I noticed it was just boneless fried chicken with no sauce. If I return here, I will need to ensure that the order is correct. $14 for plain fried chicken with no sauce is too pricey.

These days Korean fried chicken wings competition is pretty fierce. I read about Soul Chicken while back but never made it down mainly because it didn't seem like there was any sitting area. I was wrong. You can go to Bliss Karaoke/bar next door and order Soul Chicken there and eat them in nice AC room. I'm guessing that both of the establishments are owned by the same people. There were 2 tables right outside but one of the staff lady told us to go inside Bliss Karaoke. She was so nice. For now, my family highly approves Soul Chicken with great, juicy fried chicken wings made to order of course. They were impressed that inside the chicken was so juicy. We tried the honey, garlic and Yang Nyeom (slightly spicy for you spicy lovers out there.) We also ordered little fried seaweed wrap with long rice in them. Those were also good. It was like little spring rolls. They are on Dillingham so expect some traffic as there's major construction in this area. You can park in the same area as where Hana Tea used to be for free.

I was thinking of chicken for the day and I looked up the nearest place for a chicken and ended up here. But then I got confused at first cause I could not find the restaurant name Soul Chicken. I then found a sign on a door that said "Soul Chicken" at the "Bliss Karaoke Lounge." So I went in and yes it was there. Sure glad I was able to find it cause I ordered the spicy chicken combo with mandoo and french fries and it turned out to be a perfect meal. The spicy chicken was so moist and tasty and the french fries did not require any ketchup, they tasted so good on its own. And the mandoo was so crunch and moist inside with that sumptuous taste I can not forget, WOW! Moreover, I even got to sing a song with the karaoke mic. Finally, the service so courteous and attentive, excellent. This place is highly recommended.

The chicken skin had a nice crunch to it and the meat was juicy (not super oily, but juicy.) The mashed potatoes and gravy weren't bad. They were not super fluffy but a little more on the dense side. It's been a few years since I've gone to a Jolly Bee and I had imagined the spaghetti to only be sweet and savory. It was actually pretty good! (Not in an Italian way though. It was a little spicy, which I loved! I wasn't expecting it to be spicy so it was a very pleasant surprise! It was a tad sweet...just the right amount! (There isn't a 3-piece combo on the menu, but the server was kind enough to accommodate my request for an extra piece of chicken.) It came with a container of gravy that made me wonder what it was for, immediately. I was so hungry that I forgot for a few seconds that the gravy was for the chicken, thus I drank most of the gravy!! The dining area is constantly cleaned and draws a diverse crowd. Little overdue of a review but here we go lol…read more. Diners has been a staple for my family & I , and I'm sure many other families on island for YEARS. Our family's go to was always Cheeseburger and yellow sauce with fries! As time and society evolved , so did Diners, since they became "Upscale" and added more things to their menu. I have tried their Grilled lobster plate more than once from their Upscale menu in the past and I think during that time it was $15? Not sure if it's still that price, but for that price it was a winner! Lobster + salad and rice ? What more can you ask for since that's basically a steal in today's economy. Anyway , I was in the area recently and decided on diners for dinner. I was really craving ahi katsu, unfortunately my go to spot was already closed since I decided on dinner a little after 8pm ish? So I thought .. well diners has ahi katsu supposedly .. why not give it a try. I wasn't expecting much since it was Diner's BUT needless to say.. their ahi katsu is DELICIOUS. Seasoned well and cooked to perfection! I love the sauce they drizzle on the katsu. I should've asked for extra sauce on the side had I known it was gonna be yummy! But that's something to keep note of on my next visit in the future. I definitely would order this plate again! And continue to adventure out on their menu lol. A tip to keep in mind : they do have signs posted by their windows to be patient when ordering because they do take a bit to make and give you your order since they are always short staffed. And there's normally alot of people waiting or ordering since lots come to this establishment right after work or in between work or just simply there for a bite to grab. So prepare to wait .. but sometimes you can be lucky where it doesn't take as long. It does truly depend on time and the day I guess. Also one last thing, my personal opinion , I think Diners is worth grabbing food from. Whether you're hungry , in the area or wanting to grind. Some people have mixed reviews or bad experiences but me personally , I always had a good outcome. Oh also before I forget their steak is delicious too (LOL) , never ordered it for myself but I shared some of it with one of my relatives who ordered their steak before. Give this place a shot!

@fortunefoodfinds: "Gonna try not to FRY n' hope for BUTTER days ahead! June 24th marks the last…read moreday that FAT CHEEKS HAWAII will be open at the Ward Center. No news yet on where they'll be relocating, but I'm hopeful that I'll get to see them again soon. With that said, we couldn't miss catching them one last time before they close n' I must say, each visit we seriously inhale their food bc it is so good. Ordered my go-to Lobster Double Smash Cheeseburger, a Buttered Lobster Roll, a Spicy Chicken Sandwich (sauce on side), side of their bombdiggity crispy Fries, n' Fat Cheeks Sauce + Ranch for dipping. If their grindz are something you've been thinking about, tomorrow is your last chance from 11am to sell out!" SERVICE: friendly n' fully staffed INTERIOR: limited tables n' chairs in AC building EXTERIOR: good amount of tables n' chairs, on Roger Dunn side, gets hot out WAIT TIME: with news that they are closing, it seems their final days have had tremendous support. Visited on Father's Day, arrived in line at 11:15am. Placed order at register at 11:56am. Received food 15-20 mins later. PARKING: free garages OVERALL COMMENTS: my review has been long overdue. I remember when I first came across them at Ohana Hale Marketplace n' have been visiting ever since. When I heard that their current spot at the Ward Center was closing, I was so bummed but knew I had to make one last visit bc it is unknown if I'll get to eat their bomb food again. My must have is the lobster cheeseburger, the best of both worlds, so delicious. The lobster roll is simple, yet buttery n' meaty. The chicken sandwich comes with huge chicken pieces n' is crispy n' not dry. Their fries are the best of the best + with their sauces makes it even more bomb. Gonna cross my fingers to see where they open next, n' I'll definitely be there!

6/9/26 This place is awesome! If you have heard of Fat Cheeks and have not tried them yet, best…read moreto do it soon. Their last day of business will be on June 24, 2026. They are forced to close due to the demolition of Ward Centre for redevelopment. They are just a small mom & pop shop at the ewa end of the mall, a limited menu, friendly customer service, reasonable prices, & ono food. I've eaten here twice and I am just wowed! I don't have a favorite item on their menu because everything I've tried has been great. Smash burger - the best I've had - for only $10.25, you get a double patty with their house sauce, lettuce, tomato, red onions on a toasted brioche bun. I added swiss cheese for 75 cents & subbed red onions for grilled onion for 50 cents. It's a pretty big burger & very juicy as well as messy. Plenty of napkins are needed for sure! Shrimp burger - ono! It's on a brioche bun and the shrimp is formed into a patty with a very light coating, not a totally breaded patty. The patty fills the whole bun so you get shrimp on every bite. Also served with lettuce, tomato, & red onions. The garlic aioli sauce makes this a tasty and flavorful sandwich. Butter lobster roll - I had this on my first visit and the price is a little steep at $23.90 but it was surprisingly one of the best lobster rolls I've ever had. It's not a big sandwich. The roll is not even 6" but it is packed with tender pieces of real lobster - 3.5 oz - topped with melted butter. The sandwich is a little on the salty side but was still ono. Lemon tart - had this on my first visit but didn't see it on the menu this time. It had homemade lemon curd in a sweet tart topped by whipped cream for $5. It was a good sized dessert easily shared by two. Overall, a great place to eat, ono sandwiches, reasonable prices, and friendly customer service. They do sell out of items early so best to get their when they open. Everything is cooked to order so sometimes the wait can be 10 - 15 minutes, but it's worth the wait. I did inquire where they are moving to and was told they are still looking. I sure hope this little place continues to stay in business because they have something good going. Support local!
