This place is definitely a vibe. From the live brand, the decor, the drinks, and omg dont forget the food. Tip: if you get there at around 430 and sit for a while you wont have to pay extra for the band. We danced, sang, and just had a great time. When I go back to Nashville I will definitely go again. Last the service was great.

Such a great vibe with true-to-name Soul food! The salmon, collard greens, and yams are fabulous! It's also Dog friendly on the patio!!!!

Such a fantastic meal and fabulous decor! Staff was friendly, prices were reasonable, and food was flavorful and delicious! When walking out after dinner, I was extremely uncomfortable with the people posted up outside the establishment, and then I observed bullet shells in the parking lot as I walked to my car. Whew! Such a fabulous experience followed by such a bad taste in my mouth. I'll be back, but I'll give it time for hopefully those items to be eradicated.

Soul was lackluster and I am sad to say so. We enjoyed the DJ and her music selection as well as our cocktails and that's basically it. We had a wonderful server named Ryan and she was very accommodating and welcoming. Food 2/5 My lobster dinner with two sides was uneventful. The lobster tail was nice, but the sides were not. The cabbage was saturated in oil. The mac was gritty and nasty. My server was kind enough to switch my mac for waffle fries (which were good). One friend ordered the catfish nuggets and she marked that they were overcooked and the batter looked as if the fish was cooked in old grease. My other friend had a wing dinner and said her meal was ok ( she was hungry). My margarita was delicious (frozen lime). I would honestly only return for a cocktail and to hear some R&B music. Service 2/5 Our server Ryan was great (5/5). The initial greeting and seating was not smooth, we were greeted and then the woman left to begin making drinks at the bar, never to return. Someone else came after her departure finally and seated us. The restaurant can use more servers or employees and training to make operations run more smoothly. I say this because the drinks took forever and there was only the one woman making drinks and our wait was longer than to be expected. What I do not care for is the "entertainment fee" that no one discloses on the bill that is for the DJ apparently and it is 18%! Not a fan of restaurants with these tacked on fees of convenience. Pay your entertainment for DJ-ing and don't tack this cost onto your customers. Ambiance 2/5 Now this depends on your taste and is subjective. The vibe of Soul gave gimmicky and busy. There is a lot of stuff to look at and you feel like you have stepped back in time or are seated in and old school basement party or a movie scene. Overall, I am in no rush to return.

Came for a friend's birthday brunch and had a great time! The live entertainment is cool, but started halfway through our reservation (we got there around 11:10AM). If you're hoping to hear music the whole time, I would recommend coming around 12pm or later. The service was great and super nice, no complaints there. The food was pretty decent. I got the caramel pecan waffles and they were fine. I had no idea they would have strawberries on top, which aren't my favorite, but it wasn't bad. My friend got the chicken and waffles and the portion size was amazing for the price. Another friend got the big breakfast plate and the fruit does seem super fresh here. They do love to garnish with strawberries though!! Overall: would come back again, but not a super special spot. The food was decent and entertainment was unique!

Fun and tasty lunch! I visited Soul on the Monday of Hot Chicken Week because they were participating. I hadn't been there previously. We were greeted by a smiling Server who sat us in a spacious booth. The restaurant is large, clean, and decorated in a playful manner. It all helped make our visit very enjoyable. The $7 Hot Chicken Week special included 2 Hot Chicken Tenders with fries and pickles. The tenders were large, juicy, well cooked, and flavorful. The spice level was low. The tenders were accompanied by a large portion of warm French fries. The meal was the perfect size for lunch and was a deal for $7. I noticed their new $10 lunch menu has 10 items on it, including a Burger with fries as well as Fried Catfish with Shrimp and fries, and also a fish sandwich with fries. The vibe at Soul is fun and this would be a nice place to bring a large group. The food is actually really good and the staff are very pleasant. I would definitely recommend Soul.

I'm not sure what's going on with soul but it's definitely gone down hill. I'll never come back here ever again. My mom was visiting from Florida and I was excited to bring her here but I was very disappointed as you can tell from the pictures. The past few times I've been here my food was undercooked. I didn't even get to eat anything, The waiter didn't care at all, walking around so fast like he was doing something so important and had the nerve to ask if the tip was cash or card ..... The guy who was passing out the food was smoking with another waitress in the parking lot and someone had to go get them to take orders and I'm wondering if they washed their hands. Never again

Tried this place with friends. We ordered salmon croquettes, bottomless mimosas, lamb chops , the alchemist drink and island tings drink. The lamb chops came with scrambled eggs, toast and a hash brown. Everything was ok I was expecting real hash browns though not a frozen patty. That would be my only complaint. The lamb chops were good cooked well. The alchemist drink was good also. So my friends said the 2 salmon croquettes were ok. It came with 2 pieces of toast, and a hash brown. They said everything was ok , same complaint about the hash brown. So the real reason for 5 stars the service was great our server was very nice she was awesome. The vibe and music was everything. Overall we enjoyed ourselves.

Avoid this dirty place at all cost. We arrived at 11:05am, the waitress was less than friendly and looked annoyed about whatever was happening behind the scenes. Upon ordering we were told that half the sides we came in for were unavailable. We decided to make the best of it and order anyway. While waiting we heard several employees complaining loudly about working conditions and this that and the other. I got up to use the restroom and it was one of the dirtiest I've ever seen. The restaurant had only been open for 15 mins. That means it was never cleaned the night before....if they didn't bother to clean the bathrooms who knows if they clean their kitchen. I sat there trying to be polite for a total of 50 mins after opening to which we never received our food. We only ordered fried items so nothing should have been taking that long. During our wait an employee walked out from the back eating some food while every paying guest in the restaurant had no food at their table and was told things were behind this morning but the fryers are warming up. I get it. Everyone needs to eat but maybe eat out of view of the customers that have been waiting over 30 mins with no food coming in sight. So rude. I finally had enough and we walked out without eating a thing. Which in hindsight is a blessing considering how dirty the place was. I would give this place 0 stars if I could.

Planning for our first trip to Nashville, this place was a must try on our food list. WOW, WERE WE HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED!! To be transparent and fair, the staff we interacted with was nice, though it took a little over 10 minutes to be acknowledged once we were seated by the hostess. The ambiance of the place is pretty dope and definitely has a date night/club vibe. There is VIP seating, outside seating and a dj playing music inside through your meal during the afternoon. From our understanding, after chatting with staff, there is live music on Saturdays and Sundays 7p-9m. These were all great things that brought us in, but the excitement was deflated tremendously when the food was brought out along with a hidden entertainment fee (seen in the picture). We had high hopes for our meals as they were both featured on the "chef's special" portion of the menu. The presentation of our main dishes was something we were able to look passed as I was able to wipe the juice from around the brim of the plate and the chicken was smoked, therefore it had a charred appearance. However, both the oxtail and the cabbages were drastically over salted and my mac & cheese had a rather burnt taste to it. My wife's smoked chicken was super dry and multiple dressings were brought out to provide flavor. The rice and pinto beans were a good pairing, though the rice was overcooked (mushy). After trying to give the food a chance, we concluded that the food was so unsatisfactory that we asked for the bill leaving more than half of our portions at the restaurant without requesting a to go box and went to another restaurant. Upon arrival of the bill, it was found that there was an 18% entertainment fee attached to the bill. Something that is not disclosed on their website, nor did we see upon entry to the establishment. We assume this was because of the Dj's presence but would have liked to be informed before being seated. So, just a heads up, as it will spike your bill up, not including a tip if you choose to provide one. Unfortunately we didn't stay long enough to see if the live music was any good. Overall, we left disappointed. 2 star experience taking into account the ambiance and the hostess and our server.

Well first visit here and all that I can say is interesting.... Hmmmm the jury is still out! Took a minute to get seated but for lunch time they got a pretty good crowd. My server is "Naii ". She seems to be still in training but she's very nice and personable. I met the Manager, "Nichole". Very nice and personable as well. She is running a tight ship. In case you didn't know that is what makes restaurant business successful. The dining room is designed quite nicely. The food is good and it was very fresh and served hot. Did I mention that they also have a DJ and live entertainment! The food is reasonably priced and the brunch specials on the weekend is unlimited Bloody Mary's and mimosas are an excellent price. I didn't take enough photos so I think you should check it out. 1) The menu has many options. 2) EXCELLENT SERVICE 3) Nice cozy atmosphere! ;)

We went from brunch and dinner so you know that's good if we went back twice in a weekend . The restaurant itself is decorated so nicely from outside to inside. The food for brunch was very good and the margarita pitcher was very delicious and strong. The food for dinner was good as well and the happy hour was nicely priced. Each time we visited the staff was very friendly and helpful. Good food, good vibes, and good prices.

Fried shrimp with sweet chili sauce
    Eileen S.

My sister and I ate dinner here the other day. The service and vibe was good. Not sure who pissed off the team cooking the food though........man! We started off with fried shrimp covered in sweet chili sauce. The fried shrimp was overcooked (very chewy) and salty. For our entrees, my sister ordered fried catfish w/ mac-n-cheese and sweet potatoes. I ordered salmon with pinto beans and broccoli. My salmon and broccoli was extremely salty. Our server did apologize and even asked if I wanted something else. I kept my pinto beans and asked for fried catfish with mac-n-cheese. I asked if they had cornbread so I could eat it with the pinto beans...........guess what, no cornbread! My replacement food (fried catfish) was hot but was also salty. I asked for ketsup and just finished the meal. We enjoyed the music, atmosphere, and customer service but not too sure if I would eat a meal there again. Maybe next time I may just order drinks and dessert.

Chip on the plate. Granted I was the only one there. And they gave me the plate with a chip?

The lighting, furniture, and wallpaper all come together perfectly and give the space a really stylish but comfortable vibe. There's also plenty of room inside, which makes it easy to relax without feeling cramped. Now let's talk about the food... because wow. We started with the fried pickles and they were some of the best I've had. The dipping sauce wasn't your typical ranch (I forgot to ask what it was), but whatever magic they put in it worked it was absolutely delicious. Then we moved on to the burgers. We tried the Juicy Burger and it truly lives up to the name. Every single bite was worth it. I personally had the Jalapeño Burger and let me tell you... get ready for some heat. If you're not used to spicy food, this one might test your limits. But the flavor was incredible. You could really taste that the burger was grilled, and it gave it that perfect smoky, savory flavor that makes a great burger stand out. The drinks were also fantastic. They have a huge selection of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. I had one of their mezcal cocktails and it was bartender's kiss. I also tried a couple of their spirits and everything was on point. Another thing I really appreciated was the noise level. There's music playing, but it's not overwhelming, you can still actually have a conversation without yelling across the table. That's always a win. They also have a nice outdoor patio if you want to sit outside. We went during the week, so it was lively but comfortable. I can only imagine this place really gets going on the weekends. If you're in town and looking for amazing food, great drinks, and a cool atmosphere, this is definitely a spot worth checking out.

It is tucked in a neighborhood in the West End, and most people were surprised we found it or had heard of it as non-locals. It is a very popular spot. We arrived 20 minutes early and snagged the last parking spot in the lot behind the restaurant. Eric R. wanted to sit outside, so we were directed to wait at the bar until a table opened up. I got the cucumber sage yuzu spritz mocktail, and Eric R. got a local amber beer. Our table was ready within 10 or 15 minutes, so we migrated to it for dinner. Our server was helpful in providing recommendations. We started with three shareables: the mussels in lemongrass serrano beer broth and grilled bread, tempura long-stemmed artichokes on Calabrian chile mascarpone, and the lamb lollipops with pearled cous cous. I tasted the lamb, and it was heavenly, like melt-in-your-mouth tender but with a lot of caramelization. That was really Eric R.'s choice so I let him eat the majority of it. I really enjoyed the mussels and the artichokes! Everything was hot and delicious. I was sipping broth with a mussel shell when the bread ran out, and the host came out with more bread for us! It was so good. We asked to see a dessert menu. Eric R. had a tough choice between carrot cake and blondie with caramel ice cream, but was steered toward the blondie and did not regret it. I asked what the house made ice cream was for the day, and it was coconut matcha with a white chocolate shell topping. That sounded so perfect, and it was AMAZING. The evening was beautiful, the restaurant was lovely, the service was fantastic, and the food was delicious! That is the answer!

The hostess greeted us with "if you don't have a reservation, you can have a table for 45 minutes." No where did I see that reservations are required. Luckily 3 spots opened at the bar so we sat there because we were told "you can sit there with no time limit." The bartender serving us made no effort to look anything but annoyed with our presence. We had never been there and had questions but she would just point at the menu. I ordered a Diet Coke, which came in a can, one person with me ordered an old fashioned which was more glass than drink and the other people picked a beer from the list the bartender silently pointed at. This would have been a cool place if at least 1 person working here didn't look like they hated being there. Because of how we had been treated from the start we only ordered 2 appetizers, the dip and the flatbread. The dip was fine but the flatbread was like cat food on burnt toast. Oh and don't bother ordering a tea, I saw them serving bottles of gold peak tea, can't even brew tea. I do not recommend this spot unless you are okay with feeling like a burden and eating subpar food.

It was Taco Tuesday and they were doing Buy One Get One Free tacos + $6 margaritas and $4 drafts! You need a f@&%ing time machine to get a deal like that in Los Angeles and even then, it likely wouldn't be half as good as what we had here for the price. Stephanie was a rockstar, super funny and sweet and attentive. We got hella food: - Guacamole ($10) was limey and fresh and delicious - Elote Dip ($12) it was giving chilled esquites but if it were closer to a cowboy-caviar type salad. sooo good. - Chicken Wings ($22) the mesquite rub was a little salty if I'm honest, but the wings were super juicy. We got them grilled! - Caesar salad ($12) tasty, but a lot of dressing. Next time I'd get it on the side! Personal preference. - TACOS! The pastor pork belly was SO good, especially with the pineapple tidbits. The steak, shrimp, and chicken were excellent. My dad loved his cheeseburger taco the best and I thought the fish taco was pretty good (perhaps a touch dry but the slaw and sauce made up for it). Literally no complaints. Each one was better than the last. - Two rounds of sweet, tangy, Tajin-rimmed margaritas. Good god, these were delicious. The place itself is adorable. There's a whole outside yard with sports on, cornhole, and plenty of tables to hang out with friends, family, and I think even your dog (we saw a precious one!). I think they literally turned a house into a restaurant space, and they maintained some of the original elements for a really homey feel. They kept the fireplace, garage door, front porch--the whole place feels cozy and inviting. Lots of TVs for sports fans but it was pretty quiet inside (likely due to the holiday season) and the music was great, too. They were all decorated for Christmas, which I thought was an awesome touch. Big shouts to Ian and to Stephanie for a wonderful experience. I'm so glad this place is less than 10 minutes from my dad's place. I'll be coming back here every time I visit! I hope they stay open for a long, long time.
