I could've eaten a whole tray! Once I asked for a drink recommendation, Sherry didn't hesitate to help. My husband noticed they had lobster tails on the menu, and you know I had to go for it. I ordered the lobster tail meal with a baked sweet potato on the side. My husband chose the Amberjack cheeseburger with a side of mac & cheese . While we waited for our entrées, I hit up the salad bar , which was fresh and well-kept. The veggies looked bright and crisp -- no wilted greens here! When our food came out, I was truly excited -- my lobster tail was beautifully plated with thoughtful garnishes, but the real magic started the second I took a bite . The flavor was chef's kiss -- perfectly seasoned, with just the right hint of lemon and a buttery finish. I didn't even have to reach for extra butter -- it was already that good. Later, when I spoke to the owner, I found out the secret was something called Jimmy's seasoning, and trust me, it works! My husband really enjoyed his burger -- cooked perfectly and full of flavor. He even let me try his mac & cheese, and let me tell you... creamy, cheesy, and straight-up comfort food heaven. My only minor critique: the antipasta salad from the salad bar wasn't quite up to par. Before we left, I asked Camila if I could speak with the owner, and she kindly introduced me to Corona (that's what the regulars call him). This man is clearly passionate about what he does. We chatted about the food, and I even mentioned how I regretted not coming in sooner -- this place had been sitting on my "Want to go" list for way too long! First our server was very inexperienced with the menu, could not answer simple questions as to what they offered or items that were prepared in the meals. As we were sitting waiting for our order we noticed cockroaches climbing on the walls and window sill. After bringing it to her attention several times her only response was DIOS MIO. She did not even offer to move us to another table, she just suggested that we move the table out from the wall. She then handed us a napkin to kill the roaches. It ended with that and did not notify her manager of the roaches, it seemed that it wasn't a big deal to her. She did not pay attention when we told her in the beginning that there were two separate parties and to separate our bills so after our meal she brought the ticket with all orders on one bill and we had to bring it to her attention to correct it. She then proceeded to give our review as 5 stars and to give herself a 20% tip without our approval on the kiosk. We were there visiting with our Granddaughter and her family on a tight schedule after driving 2 hours to meet them. We read the reviews prior to going there and were sold by the great reviews but now realize they were probably written by the staff. We weren't even offered a credit or an apology. It's one of those experiences that you try to just enjoy yourself and not cause a scene and make it a bad experience for everyone, but it was really hard doing so and wondering in the back of your mind how clean the kitchen was where our food was being prepared. Had we had more time we would have definitely chosen another restaurant. We think the Health Department should be notified and an inspection should be done. I'm not even sure how they are still open for business. We did give the food 4 stars because it was very tasty and large portions but tried not to think about the cleanliness of the kitchen as we had our lunch. Our next meeting with family will definitely be at a restaurant that we can inspect ourselves before having a meal there. So please beware if you choose to have your next meal here.
