I came here with some friends after climbing at Crowders on Mothers Day. We arrived around 8pm but there was actually still a 15min wait- we forgot about the holiday. We were seated as a party of 5 at a long booth and ordered some flavored lemonades (strawberry and raspberry) and water. For appetizer, we got the onion rings. Our waitress was nice and friendly, seemed a little overwhelmed but I can imagine it was a long and busy day. For entrees we ordered a variety of pot pies, spasagna (spaghetti+lasagna), and chicken tenders. We had a long day out in the heat and were all very hungry so our meals hit the spot. The portions were hearty so some of us did have leftovers. Pricewise this place is hard to beat- cocktails under $10, entrees under $20 and they deliver on flavor. A few of the friends had never been here before and were pleasantly surprised, one of them thought it would be like TGIF and I explains that it was a little nicer in decor/ambience and service. We came here on a Saturday rainy night and only had to wait like 3 minutes for a table. Brooke was our server and she was welcoming, warm, and friendly. Loved her. We ordered the Wisconsin cheese bites with marinara and they were perfectly delicious. 2 Caesar salads were delicious. I got the steak and grilled shrimp and husband got the fried fish and shrimp. Everything was great even though they had No tartar sauce or vinegar. I asked for a med steak and got pretty much well done but it was flavorful and juicy so I didn't complain. Little chewy because it was overcooked, but it was fine. Brooke was so kind I didn't want to complain. Great food and great service at a very reasonable price. This is the second and last time I will ever go to this Chedders. It was more than a year ago and the same thing happened! They never brought my food, I had to go in. So today I called in my order from South Carolina! So it would be ready when I got there! Mind you it is 91 degrees outside! It was supposed to be ready at 2:01 pm. I checked in and sat in the hot car TWENTY minutes! I finally walked in and grabbed the first girl I saw and after she took care of her customers she brought me the food and apologized. By the time I got home, the fries were rubbery and tough and had a "old oil" taste. The cheesesteak was cold and soggy and the bread had gotten so soggy that the bread came apart and the meat all fell out! The cheese was dry and rubbery.. it was just gross. NEVER AGAIN. I am on a fixed income and can only have one good meal a month. And I bloody wasted it on this garbage. I wouldn't even give those gross fries to the dog. Disgraceful. read more

Recently I met friends here for a late lunch & we were seated right away. Our server was so personable & efficient. She brought us Honey Butter Croissants while we browsed the menu & she kept our drinks full throughout lunch. One thing I love about Cheddar's is the portion of food for the price - I think it's a great deal! I ordered the Lemon Pepper Chicken on a bed of rice with Southern Green Beans that melt in your mouth & a side Caesar Salad for a small up charge. I had a whole chicken breast & rice leftover for the next day. My friends ordered different Salmon dishes & they ate everything. VERY CONCERNED!!!!! I witnessed a Caucasian, ginger beard, about 5'8 man (who works at the location) come up behind the hostess and purposely cause her to back in too him when she went to seat us. I thought it was just me, but my boyfriend said the same thing "That's weird". He could have easily put his hands out to avoid her, but instead he grabbed her waste. The weird part was that he ran up to the hostess stand to make her bump into him!!! I hope this is investigated! read more

We visited there and the wait was like an hour. We had a very large group, though. Yet, once we were seated, everything went smoothly. Food was delicious. Drinks and teas were to everyone's liking. They were friendly and very apologetic for the wait. We will visit again. read more

I will never again even try to eat at this restaurant. Got there around 5:00 and there was a decent crowd already. The hostess told us our wait for be 10-15 minutes for a party of 2. I noticed immediately half the tables were empty -- obviously understaffed. We waited 40 minutes to be seated, and we were sat at a table in the middle of the floor. Noticing all the empty booths around, we VERY KINDLY asked the same hostess if we could move to a booth instead and her response was literally "Those booths are in another waiter's section, you're welcome to get back in line for another table." Mind you, the booth we asked about was not even 10 feet away from our current table and the entire section was empty. I'm not unreasonable -- I understand that waiter/waitress sections are designed to make the restaurant run smoothly. But this was just ridiculous, especially after the wait time was nearly quadrupled. I noticed all the other tables around us didn't have food on them yet, and some had been there since before we even walked in the door. Totally unexpected experience. What a beautiful building and friendly staff. The food tased excellent but had a few issues. (Medium burger was well done and lettuce was wilted). Father's Day today and we had a beautiful time. The day was tainted by poor maintenance of the facility. Our booth was sticky, the table was sticky, the floor was wet from humidity and smelled like it was cleaned with old bleach. We waited outside for our table where I had to clean my arms from the dirt on the walls and the cigarette disposal was so neglected it was stopped up with ash. Sad that such an excellent experience could be overshadowed by neglecting your building. Friday.... Our server. Was amazing. She single handedly saved our impression of the restaurant. Not bad but could have been a lot better. We drove over to Gastonia to give Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen a try. We had dined there a number of years and it was pretty good but not great. Church let out at 10:30 and it was around 11:10 am when we got there which was OK since they do not open till 11:00 am. Hostess checked us in and we were escorted to our booth which was on the far side of the restaurant. My wife likes football and the two big screens on both ends of the room were on football pregame programing. We were half way between both of them. My wife asked if we could be moved closer to one or the other of them and were informed that they could not do that since we had already had our seats assigned and they could not move us. During the course of our stay, there was at least four unoccupied booths behind where I was setting and only one ever was occupied. Behind my wife, extending into the next room, there were probably six and of those, only one was occupied. For lunch, I ordered the Country Fried Steak with White Gravy, Broccoli Cheddar side with a Side Salad to start with Balsamic Dressing. My wife ordered the Chicken Dijon with Green Beans and a Cup of Soup. In both cases, the Soup and the Salads came out fairly quickly less than a minute, our entrees showed up just after we had started on our Soup and in my case, Salad. You would think that getting your order than quick would mean nice and hot but my wife had to send her's back with a request to microwave it because it was tepid at best. She enjoyed the Soup and the Salad was not bad although heavy on lettuce with only one cherry tomato cut in half and little else. The Chicken Dijon was as I pointed out, had to be reheated and while portion size was large enough to warrant a too go box, it was not one of my wife's favorites, she took it home and had second thoughts and discarded what was left over. Initial impression of the Country Fried Steak is that this is enormous but as I started eating, I realized that it was presented on a slice of Texas Toast that in presentation, made it look thicker than it actually was. It was not hot but warmer than my wife's entrée so I ate it. Not bad but the cut of meat was not very tender. The Texas Toast was good but would have preferred it on the side. Based on the temperature of the entrees when they were presented, I question rather everything is really from Scratch or does that mean it's prepared from Scratch ahead of time and reheated when the customer orders the item. Food was OK at best but apparently not willing to accommodate a customers seating request in a restaurant that at the time was only about 20% occupied indicates a certain disdain for the customers. read more

The best thing about this place is the free croissant and the wait staff. They're both great. Everything else is absolutely awful. Baked potato isn't cooked all the way, steak is dry enough to be a hockey puck, carrots are obviously dethawed store bought carrots, chicken is dry as hell, and it ain't worth the money. Whenever we venture out we like to try something new. This place lives up to its name. Being such a hot day, I wanted something refreshing. That's it, lemonade will hit the spot and why not add fresh strawberries. Hubby got a diet Dr. Pepper, which is a rare find in a restaurant. We also ordered Spinach dip, which comes with a bonus fresh made salsa. We decided to take the salsa home and devoured the spinach dip. For our main dishes, we ordered Lemon pepper chicken, loaded bake potato sans sour cream and sweet baby carrots. Hubby got the Caesar salad with blackened salmon. Everything was delicious. However, the rice served under my chicken was hard so that was the only thing I left on my plate. Also, we felt that the salmon was not truly blackened but delicious nonetheless. My God that was some big portions! I was a little disappointed in the macaroni and cheese. There were more bread crumbs than noodles. The corn was just right. It took forever for us to be seated but it was okay. My sister's Baja chicken had an uncomfortable amount of beans. Lets just say the chicken was overpowered by beans and the minimum amount of rice. This is my second time here, and the service was much slower. It took FOREVER for our orders to arrive at the table, and the lady who served it to us talked just as slow. I had the Fish Tacos ($8.19). There are two options for the cook, grilled or fried. The 2 flour tortillas also included roasted corn slaw and Cajun tartar sauce. It comes with french fries, which may be substituted for any other side. I requested my fish to be grilled, and it was so light and delicious! The slaw and sauce were mildly spicy, just how I like it. They were very skimpy on the fries though. The fish was definitely the star of the dish, but it was not worth waiting so long. read more
