Yummy and great service! Honestly, I'm shocked it's all organic produce and organic chicken. They had me at hello with this level of goodness! I really appreciated that they let me swap a couple of things in one of the salads. They also let you build your own. My eyes lingered on the turmeric dressing, of course, but the soul dressing went perfectly with my selection. I'll need to return to explore the menu more. Clearly. Final thoughts? Run don't walk and have a salad here at least once per week. Does your whole body good. Say hi to the nice folks there. They're lovely!

Great place to grab a salad. Parking is right up front off Soquel. There was only a spot or two open at lunch but we were able to snag a spot. Inside is like an assembly line. You can either pick a salad or make your own and go down the row of toppings. The staff is very friendly and patient, and they will accommodate your order as best they can. Salad is pretty decent as well! The Santorini and the Aptos I tried were well balanced with all the toppings. Generous with meat as well which is always a plus. We got it to-go and ate on the cliffs. I recommend getting the salad tossed by them if you are getting it to go and eating right away. Will be back!

My first time here. I'm vegan so I was interested in what they had for me. They had three salads that are ready to go vegan but other ones they can leave the meat out. I got the Chanti and it was Fantastic. So many different veggie's , also coconut, cranberries and more, great balance, will definitely be back read more

I'm so happy Soul Salad opened up down the street. Us Aptosians waited forever, Covid and probably other things held them up, but now they are here! They have a wide array of different salads from vegetarian and some with protein. Everything I've had has been fresh and delicious. They know how iiito make a salad. They perfectly portion the the different toppings with the greens. For instance the Cobb Salad always has plenty of all the traditional toppings in nearly every bite. I really like it that they close at 5 but you can pick up a preordered salad until 6. Super clean inside and employees have been wearing masks. They must treat their employees well as it never feels understaffed. My only wish is that they would add a blue cheese dressing, but all the other dressing are delicious and homemade. read more

I was jetting from an appointment at Pajaro Dunes to an appointment in Capitola, and I needed to grab some food quickly on the way. Working hard and craved something healthy, nourishing. I pulled up Soul Salad's website to peep their menu and saw there was an online ordering option. Bingo. Online ordering was easy and streamlined with options to customize, and Apple Pay entered all my info automatically like a dream. Super time saver. My salad was ready and all paid for when I arrived. It was jovially handed to me with utensils and a couple slices of bread to go with it. This was my second time at Soul Salad. The first time I got the Santorini, a Greek inspired salad that came with chickpeas and stuffed grape leaves. This time I got the Cafe, with mango, avo, feta, and butter lettuce; I added cashew cheese, quinoa and tahini dressing. The nicely toasted pecans in the Cafe were what made it. My impression of both salads was that they were super fresh, with great ingredients. Dressing was mild and restrained. There was little in the way of added flavors and the ingredients spoke for themselves. That said, I feel the salads are essentially 4 star compositions with 5 star vibes. No joke there is a pure, Santa Cruz soul feeling vibrating off these salads. Sweetgreen could never. Factor in the smooth online ordering system, and everything amounts to 5 stars. Add more protein options like salmon, jammy eggs, and some jazzy flavor components like curried cashews, pickled onions, spicy chilies etc and you have a winner. read more

We need more places like this! Expand! Don't change! I've had several of their salads and they've all been amazing. Choosing is probably the hardest part. I generally eat vegan / vegetarian and obviously they have great options for both. I went on a Sunday and they allegedly open at 1:00 P.M. but we called around 12:30 and they were happy to take our order. We picked up our salads well before 1:00 so that is something to look into if they say they're not open yet. We were not the first ones to order or pick up. Great spot! read more

I live in San Francisco and I am literally counting down the days until I can drive back down to Santa Cruz to eat another salad from this place. I had the Nicene(Nisene?) salad and it was so fresh, wholesome, and delicious. Also incredibly large portions and filling for the price. I was a huge sweetgreen fan until I found this place, and now I can't stop craving it. I also really appreciate the smiles that were served with my meal as well as the attention to detail in listing all their salad dressing ingredients. Can't wait to come back and try something new soon. read more

My go to is the Santorini but my daughter switches it around and has always been happy with her order. If you haven't tried it yet you should give it a try. You will not be disappointed! read more

First time stopping by here today and it won't be my last time. Great selection of salads, it was difficult to decide. We ordered the Disco Greens salad with chicken and the Surfer salad. I absolutely loved the Disco Greens, so many different toppings and yet it all worked amazingly together. Portions are pretty big so while $15 bucks for a salad may seem a lot, you get a pretty filling meal out of it. read more

Great place and people! Stopped in today after seeing good reviews and love a good salad. Place is very clean and super cute with indoor and outdoor places to sit. The salads we got were both amazing and was sad that we didn't take pictures. We got the Hipster and the Cobb. Both amazing and filling! We also got to sample the in-house made teas and had great conversations with the staff a d the owner! The owner even came outside to make sure we were enjoying our meal. Great food, great people, support local! We will be back and look forward to trying many of the other salads and teas! read more

I'm a fan. This is an example of a restauarant that specializes in something and does it really REALLY well. My wife and I stopped by here on a random Sunday afternoon and the entire experience was awesome. The staff are friendly and the food is delicious. My favorite item thus far is "The Aptos" (which is a tall achievment in and of itself since I'm a picky eater). Great stuff all around. Thanks guys! So stoked to have a reliable alternative to burgers and sandwiches heh. read more

This was my husbands and I first time coming here and it did not disappoint! They had a wide variety of salads to meet any taste along with various protein and vegetable add on. I had the surfer and husband had the Santorini. Both salads were delicious, fresh and had a good flavor profile. The salads were a good value for the price and quality you are getting and a big size which was filling for both of us. Will definitely come here again! read more

Aptos! We finally have Soul Salad open & all I can say is Go!! I was anxious to try it and finally today was THE DAY! I had THE WASABI, and OMG it was so delicious that I forgot to actually take a picture! Friendly staff, but definitely be patient, there is a little wait time, but obviously because we are all curious! Must try! Will not be disappointed! read more

You've got to try this place!!!! Yeah, it's not your everyday kind of stop price-wise, but it's an awesome place to have a special lunch & enjoy an out-of-the- ordinary organic salad with a friend. My salad was ridiculously good and involved steak!! The dressing tasted homemade & was tossed in the salad, but not too heavily. Oh, this place gets like 10 extra stars for their compostable bowls, silverware & cups. Can not wait for an opportunity to come back!!! YUMMM!!! read more

Great place for a big salad as a meal. They offer vegan, vegetarian, and meat options. I've gotten the Nisene, Soulful, and Cafe salads-all were super fresh and tasty. It's just a little restaurant where you order at the counter. They have some stools and a long counter by the window to eat, or some tables outside. Friendly staff. read more

I absolutely love this place. My favorite would be the Seared Ahi Salad which comes with arugula. Very nice staff/owners and also very quick. I'm always in n out of there in a jif. I failed to take a picture but will do so on my next visit which is never more than a few weeks apart. "Yummy" would be their word of the day...every day. read more

It's the Cold Stone of salads. Create whatever pleases you or select one of their creations. Either way you can't go wrong. Fresh ingredients and fresh drinks make for a great lunch. Limited seating and parking but not so bad it keeps me away. read more

My wife and I always wanted to start a salad restaurant and Soul Salad is better than anything we could have started. The hours are good just remember when they're closed and the staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. Plus, our kid loves the salads which makes it even easier and he loves saying hi to everyone when we show up. We typically take the salads home, but you can eat inside and outside. The juices on tap are fun as well. read more

The counter service female was very nice and helpful. The sandwich was very good and we've eaten there many times in the past. My girlfriend went back to the counter and asked a male kitchen employee behind the counter if he could cut our sandwich in half. The sandwich was completely wrapped in paper and we did not unwrap it at all prior to asking for it to be cut. His response was extremely rude and nasty. He claimed that it was already contaminated despite the fact that it was still completely wrapped in paper. He acted like we were putting him out by us asking him to simply cut the sandwich in half. He accused my girlfriend of "contaminating" the sandwich (in his words) just by touching it despite the fact that it was handled by 2 people before we even touched it. Basically, it was his scolding condescending tone that totally turned us off to ever visiting this place again. It only takes one lazy a--hole employee to ruin a great dining experience.

The burger here is hands down one of the best in the county. It is technically fast food, but nothing like what you would expect from that term. AJ's goes way beyond typical gas station fare. You will find organic produce and treats from around the world like English biscuits, real maple syrup, and a Southeast Asian spice rack. They also offer an impressive selection of local wines, baked goods, ice creams, and coffees. Owner Akhtar Javed, originally from Pakistan, opened the market in 1987 after falling in love with Santa Cruz. He became a local legend after the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake when he let customers take what they needed and pay later during the power outage. AJ's Market is a true gem and worth the stop whether you need gas or not. P.S. AJ also carries dried cuttlefish so you don't have to travel to San Jose or find a Ranch 99. P.P.S. In addition to the coffee station, they also had a full cooler of Marianne's Ice Cream!

The way they served the bok choy was perfect- never change it. It was artsy, buttery and didn't look wilted. He devoured the berry fruit crisp à la mode for dessert ($12) and I had two small bites: It was like granola over compote with ice cream. I didn't complain. The best part was the incredibly flawless service. We could have felt rushed dining since it was towards the end of service. Instead, Genevieve paced the meal perfectly so we felt spoiled and unrushed. Next visit I would love to dine in their "secret garden" courtyard; it was beautiful. Their 'secret garden' would be beautiful for a private party like a birthday or wedding anniversary, bridal or baby shower.
