I came here for Sunday brunch for a birthday party. My one sentence review would be: Soulbaila is a club that happens to have a fairly good restaurant. Their dress code is pretty much club wear, even in January. They are a bit more forgiving in the winter, because coats/not many people will wear stilettos with snow on the ground, but I saw plenty of bodycon dresses and jean/blazer/dress shoe combos on the men. It looks small from the outside but it's pretty spacious, there are a selection of small tables and white club couches in the front where the bar is, two unisex restrooms (which got SUPER filthy because people apparently don't know how to handle their liquor at 2pm on a Sunday) and then the back with the larger group tables and the "VIP" section with more white club couches. The music is pretty good, they play everything under the sun from the diaspora: Hiplife/Afro-beats, hip-hop/rap (mostly trap), R&B, reggae, even gospel and hip-hop remixes of gospel music. However, It is L O U D. As in, you can barely hear the person next to you without leaning uncomfortably close. As in, more than a few hair cells in your ears got damaged after dining here. As in, you can hear the party from down the block. I was genuinely surprised this place got zoned in residential neighborhood. Luckily, the food makes up for it. We had several things from their brunch menu (chicken and waffles, omelets, lobster mac and cheese, wings and fries, fish and chips, fish and grits, bottomless mimosas) and every item was a hit, no one left unsatisfied. Many people left with take away plates, so the portions are pretty generous. The prices are reasonable ($12-16/plate). As for vegan options, there are fries and a side of strawberries (sometimes you just have to make a meal of sides, ha). The fries were crispy and perfectly salted. I would have them again. If you are strict about cross contamination I probably wouldn't come here but I mean, you CAN eat. Would *I* come back again, probably not. But if you are looking for a good time with good food and also want to twerk a bit, Soulbaila has you covered. read more

I definitely recommend this place. The staff are amazing, the food and drinks are very good. Reasonable prices. You can celebrate your birthday or other celebrations there. Strict dress code. What runbend me the wrong was the fact that I paid 105 for the birthday package which I never got to choose my own song because they were no communication there, and anytime I ask the DJ to play a song you were clearly disregard me. Also I paid $400 for a VIP section and two bottles, and come to find out, we never even went to the VIP section with the bottles. when I called and asked about it, the management said you said you didn't want it no more and paid for it. I made a reservation here for 3 a week prior through the link in their ig bio. They use this website called open table. That went smoothly and then I called there number and messaged them to confirm my reservation and everything was fine until the night of my dinner. I arrive and the lady at the front is telling me that I didn't make a "real reservation" because I didn't deposit $25. I wasn't aware of no deposit fee bc the website in the bio said nothing about that, nor did the person I messaged to confirm my reservation say anything about a deposit. The lady was very rude and stated that she had a party of 30 who reserved that night as well. Mind you I made my reservation for 7:30. She suggested we sit on the couches with a low table to eat our dinner. Thankfully another worker came over and offered us seats at the bar. Besides that the food was delicious! The Macaroni could've been seasoned a little better but the henny bbq wings were amazing and I will definitely order them again. I should also note that I didn't leave the restaurant until 9 and there were tables available! So I could've been seated but instead I had to enjoy my birthday dinner at the bar with people making drinks and talking in front of me. First let me say that this place was recommended to me by a co worker of mine. She's way younger than and raved so much about this place. After looking up the venue and how the layout was, I chose the package I wanted for my birthday. I called the number that was provided and asked a bunch of questions regarding what I would receive for the type of package I wanted. I chose the $400 VIP section. I was assured what is included on this package and felt confident about booking with them. Now what I wasn't ok with was the fact that everything was reserved through text messaging and I had to pay a deposit through cashapp. I was skeptical at first but after catching up with the co worker of mine I felt better knowing that she paid the same way. When I asked for a receipt, they replied "there is no receipt". Another thing that I did not like was two days before my event I texted them asking about the new closing schedules for restaurants due to the pandemic and I believe If I wouldn't have asked they would not have had the common decency to inform me. So now my party is going to be 2 and a half hours instead of 5 like we had agreed. The day of my event (2 hrs before) they texted me giving me a rundown of the dresscode and what wasn't allowed. Very inconsiderate. I get to the venue and they bring us to a small VIP section in the back that seated 6 people. (I informed them that I had invited 10 ppl which they said was my limit) I also asked if there was table space for my guest to enjoy dinner, they replied yes. When I get there it was one of those Walmart Coffee tables from the lawn and garden section. I was very unhappy about the spacing. After my boyfriend talked to one of the managers and letting them know that I was very unhappy with the way I was being treated they allowed me and my guest to have an extra VIP section but only when that Party of ppl had left. They presented me with my bottles way too early my guest weren't even there yet and I did not get a birthday shout out until my boyfriend went up to the DJ to tell him. Mind you the DJ shouted out 2-3 other girls who had birthdays almost three times each over a period of time nor did I get the personalized sign with my name on it neither did my guest and I receive slices of cheesecake at the end of the night which I paid for. I was very unsatisfied of what they offered compared to what they said I would get for the amount of money I spent. They also charged me so much money for service fee and gratuity almost an extra $150. I was so displeased and felt bamboozled. Although I made a great night out of it I do not recommend this place if you're looking for a real classy lounge type restaurant. read more
