This turned out to be the go to bar, super close to my house but don't come here asking for any type of fancy drink. Very basic drinks and food. It all is pretty great though. However every time we go, it is karaoke night.... I'm not sure maybe they have it every night? I thunk they should skip that once in awhile because I'm not a huge fan but I'll still keep coming back. read more

This is strictly a bar feel place. We came in here looking to grab a quick bite or pub food as we were told the poutine was good. We walked in and it was like the juke box turned off and crickets chirped. The place gave a feel for locals and regulars. My friend and i felt really out of place but the bartender was nice. After my first visit to Heroes, my conclusion is in the town of Berlin, all the young drinkers go to the updated Tavern on the Trax, while the older drinkers go Heroes and reminisce. My husband and I are at the age where we can go to both (we're both in our early 30's), so we decided to come and try this place last Friday. Apparently, it was the perfect night to do that because it was karaoke night (9 p.m. to 1 a.m.), so my husband and the regulars had fun belting out Bryan Adams and Billly Joel. The décor has never been updated and that is why the older folks love it here! As for the food, Heroes ended their contract with Restaurant.com, so my hubby and I were disappointed with that, but luckily their food and drinks were reasonably priced. Drinks were actually super cheap. Though the steak Heroes sandwich and poutine were solid, the wings were the stars of the show and were a lot better than nearby Sliders. Probably the best wings in the area! The thin outside layer were perfectly crisp while the meat was white! There were many different flavors to choose from, but we had the raspberry chipotle. All you need to know is that if you like wings, cheap beer, and nice olde men, then go to Heroes! read more

I may be 33, but I'm married, so I might as well be 63. Put Heroes at the top of the list for Berlin's quintessential locals bar. Yes, there's Strykers and Sliders, but I like the homey, non-intimidating nature of Heroes. Not to mention, it's walkable from my house. Walk to the bar in 15 minutes, stumble home in 20! The best feature has to be cost. Where else can you get a bottle of Bud for $2.25? 16 oz drafts are $2.75, Pitchers are 10.. What is this, the 90's? Food is equally reasonable, with sides of fries for $2.75, philly steak sandwiches for $7, and awesome wings [try the raspberry chipotle]. Yes, most of their stuff is served on paperware, but who cares? It's bar food. I had a buffalo chicken salad, a side of fries, and two beers for $15.75. I handed the waitress a twenty and called it even. A good dinner and a little buzz for under $20? See ya later, chain restaurants! Karaoke Friday nights... YES... so few places do Karaoke on weekend nights, and since we live so close, Friday night is the perfect night for it. Depending on the crowd, the result ranges from mildly depressing to raucous and rowdy. It's fun, either way. The cigar lounge next door stays open as long as Heroes does, I'm fairly sure. So if you like, hop over for some pool and a smoke in between drinks. Can't make this stuff up! -1 because the food is hit or miss at times. But whatever, this is our dive bar. read more

Have always wanted to come here ever since I heard their chili dogs were better than Capital Lunch in New Britain- which is a pretty strong statement. Never did until the other night, because the place was hard to size up from the outside. But after my bestie and I had a few cocktails elsewhere, we worked up the confidence to infiltrate. Boy am I glad. This is a straight up old man bar. No frills, no music, TVs with sound (and a handy plastic covered remote the customers get to operate...), and a few old school decorations. That said, not all the clientele are old men. But you're not going to find anything here other than cheap drinks, good food, and probably a drunk older guy hitting on you- harmlessly. Don't know about you, but I'm not sure I need much else. Blue moon pints were only $3- a price I defy you to find elsewhere. There's a huge selection of liquor (seriously, brands I had never even heard of), and beer towers are only, like, $25. Ridiculous. Food prices are pretty cheap, and they seem very much worth it. I got a Kelly dog with chili; poutine; and bestie got a hot dog. Though the food took a long time (really- it did) it was yummy and the perfect snack to soak up some booze. It wasn't perfectly executed (bestie had asked for chili and cheese, instead got standard mustard and relish), but the bartender noticed after the fact, apologized, and ensured she wasn't charged for any additions. I have to admit the chili was fantastic, and I haven't had a Kelly dog in forever; it was an awesome treat. However, as a native New Britainite, I'm mum as to whether or not it was better than a Cappy dog. Because this joint seems to have quite the regular following, I probably wouldn't come on a busy Friday or Saturday, but Tuesday night suited me just fine. Apparently they have a happy hour on Friday where they buy a party size pizza which is help yourself. Overall, solid food and drinks with minimal atmosphere, which is sometimes exactly what you want. read more

Dropped in before a movie because we wanted something quick and simple. Walked in and immediately got the dive bar feel from the clientele and the workers. Everyone working there was extremely nice and pleasant, but our food took forever. Come to find out, the cook dropped half my sliders on the floor and had to redo my order; she came out and brought it to me personally, apologetic about the issue. The food was so-so and the person behind the bar yukking it up with the locals had an interesting vocabulary using F every other word. I will more than likely give this place another shot because it could have been an off night and the people working there were pleasant despite the sailor vocabulary. read more

Bartender wasn't good about wearing mask when she left the bar cook definitely didn't wear mask at the bar so assume she didn't wear it at the grill. Also she drank a lot at Bar. Dood is good but won't go back because safety wasn't a bog concern for the help. read more

I came here with my S.O. for the purpose of karaoke and a little bit to eat. Pros: I got poutine and it was really pretty darn good. The gravy was nice and the fries were crisp. Just needed a bit more cheese. S.O. got a burger and seemed really pleased with it. The waitress turned out to be the owner. She was just a lovely lady. Very welcoming and friendly. She went out of her way to make us feel welcome. It's a cute little place. Cons: The KJ was ok, but the music selection was tiny and a bit sad. Overall I would like to return and try something else to eat. I would bring my friends here too. I just wish the karaoke was better. read more

First time in Berlin and I was lucky enough to come across this place. To say the staff was welcoming is a understatement. Now let's begin w the wings. Some of the best wings I've ever had (crispy is the way to go). Not only were the wings amazing the service was equally as good. The bartender was a absolute pleasure and the chef no words to describe, she personally delivered the wings and made sure me and my girlfriend had everything we needed. Don't know the next time I'll be in Berlin bc im in the industry and work a lot of hours but if I have the time I will come back!!! Great local bar w nice staff and regulars. read more

This is a fun neighborhood bar, where lots of townies hang out. Prices are very good, however, service on weekend nights can be slow. Jukebox needs updating. Saturday night karaoke caters to those who enjoy country music. Easy going atmosphere to stop in for a few pops. read more

Best food I have seen around this area. My friend recommended it because he goes every week. It was a fancy little place that still felt spacious. Burgers were so good I ordered one to bring home. I loved the people who we're working at the time. Good people to talk to and have a few drinks around. I went later in the evening and it turned more into a bar. More people showed up it was great. I stopped in there yesterday to have a beer and something to eat. Upon entering, I said hello to the bartender, who just looked at me. I sat down at a table, waited for about three minutes and heard the bartender say to another customer at the bar "I don't wait on tables." I turned around and said 'you don't?' He said I'm here until midnight. If you want something, you need to come here to the bar. This bartender is obviously in some stage of liver disease, so I didn't tell him to go to hell. What a horrible place. Don't go in there. It's dirty and smells like a combo of cigar smoke, urine and stale beer. read more

Good time. Kind of slow on the Friday that I went, but karaoke was fun, and I didn't have to wait for an hour to sing a song. Kind of a locals bar since everyone seemed to know each other, but they never made me feel uncomfortable. This is my third time here, and each experience has been the same.
