Great food! Great service. Was in town for large convention. Was great to get off the strip and go someplace that felt real.

LOCATION/PARKING: Soulbelly is located on Main Street in the bustling downtown Arts District. Finding parking was a challenge on First Friday and we circled the block for around 20 minutes before paying $25 in a parking lot. RESTAURANT: Upon nearing Soulbelly, we smelled the delicious smell of smoked BBQ coming from the smokers in the front of the restaurant. Soulbelly has a typical BBQ atmosphere for a casual dining experience with both high tops and picnic tables. You have a choice to dine indoors or outside on their patio across from the smokers. We were greeted with smiles and immediately seated at a picnic table for 4 around 630pm on First Friday. We had a great view of the live band that was playing which was an added bonus. FOOD/DRINKS: We started off with refreshing peach wheat draft beers accompanied by crispy smoked chicken wings tossed in sweet and sticky BBQ sauce, which made a perfect pairing! We tried the loaded BBQ fries topped with delicious and tender chopped beef brisket, fried onion straws, sour cream, and green onions, which I enjoyed so I ordered one for my dinner entree. Hubby ordered the 1 choice combo with smoked turkey and added 2 pieces of ribs for an additional $9. The smoked turkey was juicy and the ribs were good but not the best we have had. He had potato salad as his side, which was delicious and filling. Our friend Mary ordered the brisket combo with the refreshing pasta salad and added corn bread, which was crispy on the outside and the right amount of sweetness. Our friend Eddie ordered ribs with a side of baked beans which he enjoyed. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would come back again. The portion sizes were not the most generous, so minus 1 for that. However, they did offer a 10% military discount, which was awesome. The servers were good and very helpful. They are able to tell you about allergens in the menu like gluten free. Seeing the smokers our front was definitely a nice touch to bring you in. Sadly the food was not great. We wanted the chefs choice but unfortunately we wouldn't have been allowed to limit our sides to only things that I could eat which was disappointing. We ended up ordering just a. Variety of things instead. The prices here though are actually fairly reasonable and we ended up paying roughly 80$ for everything pictured here. But overall I wouldn't recommend this place for the food at all. The chicken was insanely dry and almost inedible. The brisket wasn't bad, that was probably my favorite thing we had but I can't say it was amazing. The sausage and ribs were also both just ok. The fries were very different and I can't say that we really liked them because they're coasted in something which just is odd. The cornbread was good in the middle but the sides were crazy hard. I have waited 2 years to try Soul Belly. I was NOT disappointed. The atmosphere in this location is great. Cool vibes and great seating options. I was so tempted to sit at the bar with the beautiful bar tender but it was so nice outside I had to take advantage of their outdoor dining. Ordered the Brisket and the Bourbon Glazed Pork Belly with a Mac and Cheese as a side. Brisket was better than any I have had other than in TX. Everything else was very good. This ranks as a quality BBQ stop. Great location in the Bart's District with lots of Breweries close by. The service staff was very friendly and helpful. Soulbelly BBQ is located downtown in the Arts District not too far from the Las Vegas Strip. This restaurant is by a James Bead Nominated, Chopped Champion, Beat Bobby Flay Champion, and Former Bravo Top Chef Bruce Kalman. This place has a downtown urban casual BBQ Look to it. You can sit outside on the patio by the smokers. Inside there is a bar and bar area and a dining area. At certain times they also have live music. We've been coming occasionally for a few years now. In general the food really is above the average bbq and I also found that service by them also is above average. The brisket also has been consistently good on all our visits. The only thing that is different is that they occasionally change up their menu slightly so old favorites are gone and you might discover new things. Also they also offer different specials from time to time. The two items that we get here most often is the incredible Belly Of The Soul Sandwich (smoked brisket, fried egg, cheese sauce, pickled onions, spicy BBQ sauce, crispy onions) Actually my husband gets that sandwich and he always loves it. This is one of the few places that I will get a burger at because here it is ground in house Smoked Brisket and is always delicious and usually cooked just so. Today the server accidentally forgot to tell the cook to leave off the cheese on my burger. Instead of just scrapping off the cheese they made me a new one. They also insisted that I get a dessert. This place was awesome. We went down there in a really quiet evening but the food was nothing close to that. It was DELICIOUS!!! We loooved the brisket. You could taste pure meat in the sausage and it was tasty. The only dish that we didn't quite enjoy was the Mac & cheese. Not the way we like it but that didn't take away from our experience. Saw this place during a bar crawl in the arts district and made a sure to come back. The place has great charm, can seat many picnic table style and has a stage for bands. The servers were nothing short of southern hospitality and the food was so flavorful. The smoked bacon old fashion was great and not over priced. Cornbread soft and crispy on the ends. The ground brisket burger with the potatoe buns was delicious and juicy! The bourbon glazed pork belly was juicy and tasty, and the brisket was both lean and juicy. I took on Soulbelly and lost. Before arriving for a late lunch, all I had were two mandarin oranges and coffee for breakfast. I ordered the Chef's Choice For 2 combo. Basically, chef chooses the 6 meats and 6 sides. Chef surprised me with Brisket, Bourbon Glazed Pork Belly, Carolina Pulled Pork, 2 types of sausages, and smoked chicken wing. For sides, I got coleslaw, potato salad, pasta salad, mac&cheese, roasted broccoli , and cornbread. On top of that, I also got some pickled pickles and 2 slices of white bread. Came here on a Sunday to put a little something in my stomach before I started drinking. Customer service was great and the food was pretty good. After looking at the menu, we decided on The Belly of Soul sandwich with a side of potato salad, the sandwich was good but the potato salad had a little too much mustard for my taste buds. I got brisket, which was pretty good. They had one that was very lean and that was a little fatties but excellent and juicy. Got some of each. My friend got St. Louis ribs which were good. I thought the brisket was overpriced for the amount you got but ribs were well priced. Service was excellent. Our waitress was attentive and pleasant, bringing everything when it was ready to come out. Ambiance very good. Rustic look and feel, which in a barbecue spot was a perfect fit. Delicious barbeque that hit the spot! Great vibe for the arts district and they have a happy hour bar as well. We ordered brisket, mac n cheese, and their cornbread. Everything was really good. We were given a choice for their brisket to be fatty, lean, or both. I preferred both to have flavor but also good meat too. The fatty brisket was definitely a little softer and more flavor. The mac n cheese is homemade since they make their own noodles we were told. The cornbread was good but it could've been a little warmer for me. It tasted just like straight corn and was served with butter. I think it was a little overpriced for a small piece. It was $6 for a small loaf. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. Pretty cool spot! Hung out with a friend here and got a bunch of food during their happy hour. The Mac and cheese balls were amazing!! I didn't care for the wings- tough and salty, but the potato wedges were good. My friend loved the brisket slider. My drink was also super tasty. May not be the best bbq I've ever had (Texas still takes the top spot), but it's good! But for Vegas bbq, it's good! Plenty of parking as long you're willing to walk in Arts District. Honestly, why wouldn't you want to walk around. Soulbelly was great, with available sitting indoors and outdoors. They're next to breweries as well so you can have a nice beer with your bbq. For ordering, it's order at the front desk, then take your number and grab a seat. There was some confusion when we were there as the waitress taking our order seemed new. First we were told for beer and drinks, we'd have to go to the bar to order and get them. Then she found it on her and added it to our tab. Didn't mention if we were supposed to go to the bar to get it or what. When we got our food, the waitress asked if there was anything else, we mentioned our beer. I see her go to the front desk and then to the bar to get it for us. Minor hiccup/miscommunication, no biggie, but felt like it needed to be mentioned. Props to the waiter and waitresses serving, very friendly, checks up on us, and kept everything clean. We sat outside since the music all the way inside was a bit too loud with the band playing. There was also some tv's for us to watch some football games on. For food, the Brussel sprouts are amazing. Cooked perfectly crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. The sauce was great too, gets to be a bit too much at the bottom, so I may ask for light sauce or on the side next time if possible The brisket was delicious. I forget what "size" we got, but got a mix of lean and fatty. The lean was good, but I loved the fatty brisket. Juicy and tender all around and well-seasoned. I'll opt for just fatty next time I'm around. Used some of the bread to eat with the fatty juices and it's great. Looked around the other tables, and I wished I got the corn bread, it looks great. Definitely a place I'll be back to if I'm ever in the Arts District. The vibes, the staff, and the food are all top notch. read more

Pork belly was a little sweet but with the BBQ sauce it balanced out nicely, brisket was 50/50 fat and meat which is exactly how I like it, easily best brisket I have ever had and will definitely come back in the near future. Not the best BBQ I've had in Las Vegas but definitely decent food with a very convenient location to explore Arts District before/after your meal. Pork belly and cornbread were my favorites. I was not a fan of the hatch chile and cheddar hot link; it was pretty salty with no kick to it at all, and the cheddar contributed to an overall weird texture to the sausage that I did not like. Was told this was the best bbq in Las Vegas, so it was a must try. Was greeted upon entrance, seated and our waiter showed up quickly. Drink orders were taken, saw Shiner on the menu, a must order with bbq...and got the chefs choice platter for two. Food arrived and it looked amazing! Brisket - no smoke ring and super dry. The sauce did help a lot. Sausage - had both the plain and the hatch and cheddar. Both solid options with a nice snap. Flavor was good and both were solid! Turkey - super dry and plain. Skip. Pork belly - fantastic! Super tender and the glaze complimented it perfectly! Melted in your mouth. Pulled pork - it was cooked well but comes pre-sauced. Did not know they did this. I'm not a fan of Carolina style sauces so I'd order this with sauce on the side or skip this. Sides - had the slaw (good), light vinegar flavor and not overly sweet or mayo-ee, the Mac and cheese was good but was giving velveeta, the cornbread was moist and had a nice crispy exterior, potato salad was just ok, the beans were great, lightly Smokey with a slight sweet taste, the broccoli was broccoli, skip it. The best brisket is made in Texas. The best brisket in Nevada is made at Soulbelly BBQ. It's tender and delicious. Literally melts in your mouth. When you see those big massive smokers out front and smell that enticing scent of real wood barbecue, you can't help but venture in and get to work on some cue. I finally made it to SoulBelly BBQ in the Arts District, and honestly... this spot surprised me in the best way. The setup is a fun mix of regular tables and picnic-style seating, plus a full bar and live music that gives the place an easy, weekend-hangout vibe. We came in during the middle of the afternoon on a Saturday and were seated right away - perfect timing. Our server (still kicking myself for not catching his name!) was incredibly attentive and just genuinely nice. Even though the sweet tea was mid at best, he kept it topped off constantly, which I appreciated. Now the food - the pulled pork sandwich slapped. The bread alone was delicious, and the pork was flavorful and well-seasoned all on its own. They've got several sauces on the table, and the sweet one was tasty, but the meat honestly didn't need anything extra. The only downside: I did get a fairly large piece of bone in mine, which was a bummer. The mac and cheese looked small at first glance, but it's rich, filling, and the chicharrón crumble on top adds this salty crunch that works so well. Prices felt pretty standard for BBQ in the Arts District, and the whole vibe was relaxed and welcoming. I bet it's even more fun at night with the live music and bar crowd. Stopped by again while family was in town visiting. We ordered the smoke nachos and banana pudding and 2 sodas. Total cost was about $40 with tip. The nachos were good and a good amount of meat. Definitely good flavor! The banana pudding was not our favorite. Just not the typical taste of banana pudding we are use to. Each soda was $4.50 so, I wouldn't order soda again. We don't typically drink it, but every now and then when we have a taste for it, we do. But for $9, I'll pass. This is our second time eating here. I'm not sure this would be our top pick for BBQ. We ordered two 1 meat combo, half pound of ribs, one side of cornbread. Brisket- got mixed. Lean one was too dry. The fatty one was ok but also a bit dry (6/10) Ribs- got half pound which was 4 ribs. Good amount of meat. Tenderness was on point. Flavor was good. (8/10) But on glazed pork belly- nice flavor and smoky taste. A bit fatty but what do you expect with pork belly. Cut through it very easily. (7/10) Cole slaw- while it is creamy it had a tang in it. So there is a decent amount of vinegar. (7/10) Mac and cheese- very cheese. I didn't have any but it looked good. Corn bread- nice crispy edges. Flavor was good needed more honey. Overpriced though. $6 for a mini loaf. (7/10) Overall the meal was decent. Had two drinks with our meal. $90. read more

We had made reservations but I don't think it was necessary. When we walked in, it wasn't too busy and we were seated right away. They had live music so the place had a higher decibel than what I would like for a dinner spot but it was fun! We ordered the brisket, pork belly, hot link and smoked turkey. I'm not a fan of pork so I don't think I have the right to comment on it HAHA Brisket was good and turkey was good too! I was so looking forward to eating BBQ after seeing Soul Belly featured on the local news. To my disappointment, when I arrived at the Miracle Mile location, they only served sandwiches. I really was hoping for ribs and burnt ends. I ended up ordering the pulled pork sandwich, which consisted of the bun, pork and coleslaw (BBQ sauce on the side). Without the sauce, there was no hint of BBQ. It was just seasoned pork. It wasn't terrible, but certainly not worthy of a so-called "killer creative regional bbq". And I really couldn't use the BBQ sauce bec it was too spicy for me. My first clue should have been the fact that this location has no smoker on the premises. read more

Dropped in for some food while over at Hudl. It's right next door so it's super easy, and they'll walk your food to the brewery when it's ready. The smell literally wafts over to you when you are anywhere close, like one of those cartoon ghost hands that lure characters to pies. Checking out the menu, the thing that stood out to me the most was their The Belly of the Soul sandwich. Everything about it sounded like I needed that in my life at that point. Brisket, pickled onions, crispy onions, cheese sauce, a fried egg, and spicy BBQ sauce?!? Yes please! With the ingredients, a side of potato salad, and the price, a whopping $26 after taxes, I was expecting this thing to be a beast and really take all I have to finish it but when it came out, I was surprised at its diminutive stature. This was my first visit to "Soul Belly BBQ". I arrived for late lunch. Eating in those hours well after lunch, but before dinner, is interesting. Often staffing is light, as was the case here. In spite of having to perform multiple tasks, the bartender / server was hospitable and a bit sassy, in an entertaining way. On this occasion, I ordered the one meat combo ($18.00). This set offers you one meat from the pit, one side, and a slice of white bread. There is a $2.00 upcharge if you select the brisket. With a beer ($8.00) and tax ($2.35), my ticket was 30.35 before gratuity. When ordering the brisket, the server asked if I wanted slices from the lean or fatty portion of the brisket--or a mix. I chose the mix. I do not use sauce on BBQ. I like to taste the smoke and rub; I also like to see the bark. Although the brisket was good, I must say that I have had better. I enjoyed the fattier slices of brisket better, as it was moister and had a better mouth feel. The slices of lean beef were not dry but were on the verge of becoming dry. In both cases, the meat was tender. The side dish I selected was the mac & cheese, with Parmesan and Chicharrón crumbs on top. The mac & cheese was very good; and the Chicharrón crumble added an extra texture to the dish. I will visit this restaurant again. There are other proteins from the pit, and meals, to try. And in spite of my comments above, each piece of beef can be different. BTW ... This establishment offers live music. Been here before and left great reviews but tonight got totally ignored. The service people kept walking by our table and not one of them stopped or said anything to us.
