My choice was to do the half smoked chicken. This was cooked perfectly, moist, and tender with dry rub on the outside. Did not need any barbecue sauce, but that is an option that you can put on yourself. food service was very quick with an accommodating bartender, as I did sit at the bar. After a full day of sightseeing, walking the Las Vegas Strip, and doing a little gambling, my party of four was TIRED and HUNGRY! We stopped into Virgil's Real BBQ around 10:30 p.m. for a late-night meal and were seated immediately. Our waiter, Alex, came over shortly after and was kind and welcoming. He wasn't overly friendly, but he certainly wasn't rude--and sometimes I'm perfectly fine with a happy medium! He answered our questions, accommodated our requests, and made sure we had what we needed throughout the meal. Overall, the service was good. Now, the FOOD received mixed reviews at our table. My sister and friend ordered sandwiches--one had pulled pork and the other brisket--and they both thoroughly enjoyed their meals. They raved about their sandwiches, and I believe both had fries. My friend also ordered the Brussels sprouts and said they were very good. My experience was a little different. I ordered the BBQ wings with Virgil's sauce, baked beans, and a small house salad. Flavor-wise, those smoked wings were DELICIOUS! The Virgil's sauce was very good, and I appreciated that these were nice, meaty wings--not six little baby wings that leave you wondering where the rest of the chicken went! You receive three whole wings cut into six pieces, and they were definitely enough to fill me up. The baked beans also had a really good flavor. Unfortunately, my wings and beans weren't HOT. They arrived somewhere between very warm and lukewarm, which was disappointing. It was late, I was tired, and I was hungry, so I went ahead and ate them. Had everything arrived piping hot, I think I would have enjoyed my meal much more because the flavors themselves were good. Now that salad? Whew. The salad was easily the biggest disappointment. The lettuce was wilted with quite a few brown pieces, and overall it just wasn't good. The Caesar dressing was basic and didn't have much flavor. I did request cucumbers, which they gladly added, but unfortunately, there wasn't much saving that salad. I was also interested in trying the ribs, but they were sold out by the time we arrived. Considering it was around 11 p.m., I can understand that. One thing I really appreciated was Alex noticing from my shirt that it was my birthday. He surprised me with a small birthday treat, which I believe was banana pudding. Banana pudding isn't really my thing, but the gesture absolutely was! I had been once before but it had been so long that I couldn't remember if it was good so during my most recent trip I went and was so glad that I did because it was one of the best meals I had while in Vegas! It was a bit difficult to read their menus and they tell you that while you're getting seated and to scan the QR code at the bottom of the page but at that point I'm like why not just laminate the menus so that it doesn't fade. While looking at the virtual menu I had my eyes on a corn side dish but it was sad to find out that they no longer offer it. Phenomenal Late-Night BBQ! This was my 16-year-old son's first time in Vegas, and I wanted to take him to my favorite BBQ spot in town. It definitely didn't disappoint! From our server, Isaiah, to Chef Brian, everything was fantastic. It's usually tough going to a BBQ joint later in the day because you often end up with dried-out or overcooked meat. That was completely not the case here, even around 11:00 PM, everything was fresh and served to perfection. My son kept telling me, "Dad, you were right, this is really good!" We love Virgil's barbecue and we've been to the one in New York City and now the other one here in Las Vegas. The location is easy to find and we made reservations and we highly suggest if you're considering dining here that you do an online reservation as they get very, very busy. We arrived on time and we're seated immediately and for the most part the place is clean and they could do a little bit more wiping down to the table and chairs, but that's not a big deal. My family and I stopped at Virgil's after enjoying a ride on the High Roller Wheel. The staff was super friendly and so was our server who provided us some food options and kept checking on us. We went with The Pigout which had all the meat options and came with two sides. It's supposed to be for two people, but it fit three of us and we still had some extra food.. I have to say that it's one of the best BBQ meals I ever had and each table has three different type of barbecue sauces. For our sides, we had the baked beans and the mac & cheese and my family and I we love the mac & cheese definitely a favorite. My wife and I came here twice (we were staying nearby at the Flamingo). The first time it was late as we just got done with a ride on High Roller and just wanted a couple appetizers to share. Thankfully, another waitress, Nina, took notice of this and came to our table to help us. She saved the experience, as we were close to walking out before she showed up. Kudos to her. A couple days later we stopped by during the day for lunch. Our waiter on this visit, Andres, was FANTASTIC in every way. Super friendly, prompt, and even gave us a few local tips for a good time along Fremont (we mentioned we were going there later). Between Nina and Andres, they both changed what would've been a negative perception of Virgil's based on the original waitress and turned into a good one. As far as the food goes, the appetizers we had that night were simply ok (cheese fries and hush puppies). However, the bbq is pretty damn good. We ordered the sampler plate so we could try it all. The food is good, highly recommend the trash ribs (sweet sauce) which are deep fried and grilled, very delicious! The Brussels sprouts are super tasty, must try. Sweet potatoes tater tots and the corn bread are enjoyable sides, too. They have happy hour 2-5pm, but we were told that it's only for sitting at the bar. Came here for a work event. We were set up on the second floor with our own bar and bartenders, our own outside patio overlooking the promenade too. Big buffet with all the meats - brisket, ribs, pulled pork, chicken.... Also hush puppies, coleslaw, potato salad, rolls and really rich and creamy mac n cheese. They just kept refilling everything, it was delicious. On my second plateful I was like no, stop, don't keep stuffing your face .... but I kept eating! There was no dessert though, I just realized. Since I don't drink anymore I asked the bartender to make me something festive and fruity. She whipped up something really good with fresh fruit juice, not syrup so it wasn't too sweet. We went to Virgil's the other night while we were in Las Vegas up at the Linq Promenade. We walked up and had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. When we were finally seated our server, Nina came over and checked on us and let us know the lowdown. We started off with an appetizer and a strawberry margarita, which was actually pretty good and ultimately we ended up ordering another one of the strawberry margaritas. In addition she took my wife's order and started to walk away, and I said I didn't order yet and she said oh what would you like? We stopped by Virgil's Real BBQ for some good vibes, and some BBQ. Overall, it was a solid experience with some really good items, but a few things were just average. COMBO PLATTER (Pick 2: Memphis Pork Spare Ribs, Pulled Pork, Smoked 1/4 Chicken, Brisket, or Trash Ribs) I went with the spare ribs and brisket, plus the buttermilk biscuit and mac & cheese for my two sides. The spare ribs were very tender and had a great flavor with just the right amount of BBQ sauce. They weren't overly sauced, which I liked, and you could always add more if you wanted. The brisket was also tender with a nice smoky flavor. Definitely one of the better items we tried. The mac & cheese was cheesy, creamy, and had a thick sauce with a little bit of breadcrumb topping melted on top. It was a good comfort-food side. The buttermilk biscuit had a nice buttery flavor and was really good with added butter. The only thing missing was a little bit of jam or jelly -- not necessary, but a good biscuit with jelly is hard to beat! Chopped Brisket Sandwich with Fries The sandwich came packed with chopped brisket and plenty of sauce. The fries were pretty standard, but they were cooked well and a good side to the sandwich. Brisket Burger with Fries This was a surprise favorite. It's a ground beef burger topped with cheese, chopped brisket, and onion strings. The combination worked really well and it was delicious. Trash Fries (fries with cheese, jalapeños, bacon, and sour cream) Basically loaded fries -- and they were good! They came in a nice portion size and had a good mix of toppings. BBQ Nachos (Topped with brisket, jalapeños, Monterey Jack & cheddar cheese, pico de gallo, and guacamole) These were just okay. With all the toppings combined, they ended up being a little salty for my taste. Popcorn Shrimp (Cornmeal crusted rock shrimp served over popcorn with remoulade) This was probably the weakest item we tried. It wasn't bad, but it was pretty average and nothing really stood out. Overall, Virgil's has some really good BBQ options, especially the brisket, ribs, and brisket burger. A few items missed the mark, but when you go BBQ your there for the meats, not the apps and sides. There were definitely some winners here. read more

Flavor wise, the BBQ is good - no complaints there. The Smoked Old Fashioned was tasty and a good value, all things considered. Unfortunately that's where the good news stops. Value wise - I know Vegas is extremely pricey, but this is no exception. The brisket dinner was almost $40, came with two sides, and had very little meat. Left me wanting more. Big prices, small portions. The biggest issue was the bill. For such a large party you would think splitting the bill by person or by item would make sense. We were told this was not possible. We spent an HOUR dealing with the check business. Our table of 11 had the check divided equally by person. Totally unfair because some will overpay and some will underpay. If you eat and drink little you get ripped off. If you go nuts you pay too little. They gave us a QR code to scan and not everyone could use it because it was US only - we had international travelers in our group. A big mess. It was escalated to the manager, he wasn't any help, just said we can't leave till we paid. Some cards were declined. I paid my part and waited for our party leaders to finish sorting through the mess. Really took close to an hour and soured an otherwise fantastic day in Vegas for the conference. It hurts me to write a bad review because I like the place, but this was ridiculous. No one wants to come back to Virgil's next year because of this. read more

We were seated quick and service was great. We ordered the popcorn shrimp appetizer, Mac and Cheese, and then the surf (skirt steak) and turf (shrimp skewer) with cheesy grits and brussel sprouts. The popcorn shrimp was fine but would skip it next time. Everything else was really good. I think my expectations were tourist trap with overpriced ok'ish food. We were in Las Vegas for a conference that my husband was attending, my husband had brought along some gift cards we had from years ago for Virgil's, and we decided to use them the one evening. We invited my husband's friend/coworker to meet us at the restaurant and we had such a great evening. My husband and I shared the platter for two or I should say it is recommended for two, and it was outstanding. The only thing I have to say is, I wish there would've been more ribs because they were just amazing. Everything was done to perfection, my husband ordered mac & cheese and mashed potatoes and I had the brussels sprouts, so we ended up ordering an extra side with our meal, but it was all very delicious. My husband's friend/coworker had a rib meal and absolutely loved it. I can't say enough about the service, the young lady that we had was outstanding, answered all our questions and was just so very nice. Virgil's is a casual restaurant so you don't need to get dressed up there, it was very packed the evening that we were there and we had reservations. I highly recommend if you want to visit to make reservations just in case our platter did consist of ribs, brisket, pulled pork and chicken, all of the sides and cornbread muffins. Let me begin by saying, I am a huge fan of good customer service. The hostess was friendly and very kind. Once we walked into the restaurant, the lighting was so low we couldn't even read the menu. Which was already difficult because the menu was faded. I still attempted to make the best of it, but the waiter, Alex, was extremely rude, short and uncompromising. There was a small amount of people in the restaurant, and he seemed to not want to be bothered with me and my relatives, who had never eaten there before and were visiting for the East coast. The menu was exceedingly overpriced for the lack of functionality. Meaning that there was nothing very appealing, taking it into account that I am a huge fan of BBQ restaurants and ranked them very high on my list of foods to eat. This will be my first time ranking a BBQ restaurant this low. But I have to let it be known that the main reason that we walked out was because of the waiter,Alex. We had such a great experience at Virgil's! We ordered the deluxe meal for two, "The Pig Out" ($72.95), with five meats, two sides of our choice, and warm cornbread--and it was worth every penny. The presentation was gorgeous, and every bite exceeded our expectations. My favorite was the brisket (WOW!), but every item delivered 10/10 quality, which is rare these days! The service was OUTSTANDING -- thank you, Jessie, for making my husband's birthday so incredibly special!
