I stumbled across this place sort of randomly and from the outside I wouldn't have given it much of a second thought had I not had a recommendation for it. Once I stepped foot inside and saw a completely packed house with an hour and a half wait and barely standing room at the bar, I knew it was worth whatever wait or process I had to go through. Ultimately I lucked out as an individual. I was able to snag a bar top seat pretty quickly and had I known then I was sitting down to what was going to be one of the best meals of my life, I would have been visibly more excited. If you know, you know--this spot has been holding it down for a reason. Came in for a solid dinner and it hit exactly how I remembered. The steak was cooked perfectly, nice crust on the outside and still juicy inside. Simple, but done right. If you're unable to get one, you can arrive at 4:30pm before the doors open at 5pm to get a seat at the bar. When we arrived at 4:30pm there was already a line wrapping around the building and we barely just got seats. The inside gives off speakeasy vibes as it's dark and intimate. They have a list of cocktails that are sorted by era including but not limited to Prohibition and the tiki boom. They have happy hour all the time which includes half off steaks and discounts on other dishes. The ribeye ($46) was good but could've used some extra flaky salt for extra savoriness. The truffle mac and cheese ($16) was really good with nice truffle flavors but could've used bigger portions. Ever since I saw a video that they serve malt liquor the same way fancy places serve champagne I've been dying to try this place out. The previous times I was in town their reservations were full so I didn't bother. Recently on a Friday night we decided to head over and put on name down on the wait list. There was about a 2 hour wait so our plan was to either kill time a mile down the road at the Palace Station, but we opted to go next door to little sports bar The Goat to kill time. Eventually our spot gets called in after a few no show reservations about an hour and a half later. From the host to the waiters the service here was fantastic. The prices here are amazing with the all day happy hour pricing on some of the entrees and the drink menu solid with lots of unique cocktails. The ribeye was tender and juicy. It was cooked just right. Aglio e Olio was creamy and flavorful. I enjoyed the blue cheese crust especially spread on the complementary white bread. WOW! Not only is this the best steakhouse experience I have had in Vegas, but it is easily one of my best of all time. It is beyond worth the short ride off the Strip! The decor is fantastic, featuring dark wood and deep red tones that offer a very old-Vegas, Rat Pack style. The Starters: We started with the spicy mussels, which were simply incredible. The Steaks: The star of the show! They have so many options, and the filets are cooked to absolute perfection. You can choose from a variety of add-ons; I highly suggest the mushrooms and onions. The Sauces: I highly recommend ordering the sauce plate, which gives you the chance to try four of their signature sauces alongside your meal. I got a recommendation from this place from a local and many content creators. I was lucky enough to get a reservation at 7 pm during their all night happy hour. Food was great given the pricing in red on the menu. The service was good, but our waiter was extremely robotic. Late night happy hour steaks and award winning cocktails?! Say less! We went on a Tuesday night around 10:30 pm and did not have a reservation. The restaurant was busy, but we didn't have to wait for a table. The restaurant is open daily from 5p to 3 am. We took an Uber, but they do have a small parking lot if you're driving. The restaurant had multiple dining rooms. The lighting was dim, but the vibe was not pretentious. They had old school hip hop and R&B jams playing which added to the ambiance. The biggest draw to Herbs & Rye are their happy hour specials. I am not sure what time happy hour runs, but I believe at the time of our visit, they were doing happy hour all day. Our server Andres explained that any menu item with a double star icon next to it is on HH. The majority of HH items are steaks and pasta. They have won numerous awards for their cocktails. We noticed plaques on the wall from different organizations like Conde Nast, Thrillist, and The World's 50 Best. Andres made some good cocktail recommendations. The drink menu is pretty extensive and is divided by era. I went with the Bijou. It's a gin based martini that is spirit forward and not overly sweet which I enjoyed. It sort of reminded me of a white negroni. I was good with one because it was incredibly boozy. Menu items are a la carte. I typically go for filets when I have steak, but the 8 oz. Flat Iron caught my eye. I ordered it medium and added Red Wine Glaze. The steak was cooked perfectly. It was tender and very flavorful and the glaze was delicious. I went with a cocktail that included a Dutch liquor that's similar to gin. That was a first for me! Food (5/5): Herbs & Rye is known for their late night happy hour where many of their steaks (and several options) are deeply discounted. Like most steakhouses, sides are a la carte. I decided to go with a cup of tomato basil soup and the New York strip, served medium rare (of course). There are two versions of the tomato basil soup, one with a grilled cheese and one with the soup only. They have a menu of appetizers, Cocktails steaks, salad, seafood, surf and turf options. So many to choose from. They can accommodate a table for 2 and large parties as well. The servers here are super friendly and very helpful with the menu choices. I started off with appetizers the calamari and Caesar salad . Both are excellent choices. Then moved on to dinner with the surf and turf special, which comes with one ribeye and two lobster tails two mashed potatoes and asparagus enough for four people, but they say it's for two. Also got mashed potatoes on the side, mac & cheese, and the button mushrooms. The ribeye was cooked, perfectly, medium rare that is the only way to get steak cooked in my opinion. The lobster tail was super juicy and tender, of course dripping with butter. And after all of that, if you still have room for dessert, I highly recommend the Italian donuts that come with caramel sauce and condensed milk to dip in. Probably the worst seat in the house. One side people are standing waiting to be seated, the other side was the loud, busy bar and then guests and staff walking around us the whole time[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Again, worst seat in the house. Food and drink, well not too impressed there either. They had no dark beers, only light. I ordered a daiquiri which should be sweet, but was the most bitter drink I have ever encountered. Wish our waiter had warned me. I traded it for a porn star which was an amazing trade. Our food, I was not impressed at all. I had a chicken thigh with risotto, it was just ok. Wow, how much money is Herbs & Rye paying Yelp? My original review was removed without even the typical Yelp Warning. Time to tone down my adult language. And if you remove it, I'll keep reposting. Either way, the Yelp rating feels questionable when reviewers with only one review are giving five stars and are not flagged, while there are over 200 flagged reviews overall. tl;dr: Go to their sister restaurant Cleaver where the staff actually do their jobs. I waited in line at 4:30 PM in the rain for a bar seat for happy hour. We were probably 10th in line for one of the 21 coveted stools. All of a sudden the people at the back of the line were literally sprinting past everyone. There is a hallway and a side dining area, and these jerks ran through it to cut in line. We grabbed one stool, but I told my wife this is [insert explicative] and we left for Weera next door. Staff needs to control the line. This is my favorite restaurant in Las Vegas so far. I sat at the bar and the people sitting by me were like instant acquaintances/friends, super friendly. Food was amazing, really excellent. I loved the happy hour, half off some of the pastas deal. Wow, scrumptious pasta, Cacio e Pepe $16 during happy hour, Bucatini, Pecorino, Parmesan, Black Pepper and the Filet Mignon is $35 during happy hour. They might offer happy hour early, & again offer it late at night, or maybe all night, just depends, so ask them. Lots of locals eating there at the bar. I found parking in their lot. The bartenders aim to please. I always wanted to try Chartreuse, and they had a yellow Chartreuse. They can work within your budget, talk to them, or they can be as posh & luxurious as you want! Look at the long list of things you can add to your food, lots of sauces and special additions, accompaniments. I want to return for the sweet potato tater tots with marshmallows & truffle macaroni & cheese. After hearing so much about Herbs & Rye, we finally made it there--and it absolutely lived up to the hype! From the moment we arrived, Lorenzo and Tyler provided phenomenal service. They were friendly, attentive, and made the entire dining experience outstanding. Everything we ordered was fantastic: the Caesar salad, flatbread, perfectly cooked filet mignons, Brussels sprouts, swine & whiskey mashed potatoes, and excellent cocktails. Every dish was flavorful and prepared to perfection. The atmosphere was just as impressive as the food--great energy, an awesome vibe, and the kind of place you want to linger and enjoy the evening. We've been to Cleaver on previous trips to Las Vegas and always enjoyed it, but this was our first visit to Herbs & Rye. It definitely lived up to its reputation, and we'll absolutely be back. I've heard a lot of mixed things about this place, and after coming here I can see why. I'm honestly conflicted. The food overall wasn't amazing, but for the price and portion sizes, you really can't beat it especially in Vegas. Service, however, was absolutely excellent. Food Breakdown 1/5 - Jalapeño Creamed Corn Very disappointing. The corn wasn't sweet at all and the texture wasn't creamy. I wasn't expecting Lawry's level, but this tasted worse than canned creamed corn. 4/5 - Ribeye Steak A 16oz ribeye for $46 is kind of insane for Vegas. Cooked perfectly medium rare as requested and honestly the highlight of the meal. 4/5 - Fried Egg & Thick-Cut Bacon Simple, satisfying, and did exactly what it needed to do. 3/5 - Mashed Potatoes Standard mashed potatoes nothing special, but hard to mess up. 2/5 - Calamari The flavor was off and honestly tasted more like pickles than calamari. 5/5 - Truffle Mac & Cheese Creamy, well-seasoned, and that earthy truffle flavor came through perfectly. 5/5 - Cocktails Every cocktail we ordered was well made. Great quality spirits and fair pricing. I'd come back strictly because of the prices and portion sizes. Next time, I'd stick to the ribeye and cocktails and skip most of the sides. If you want to visit definitely make a reservation!!! This place was definitely worth the hype! I had the aglio e olio and it was sooo good. One of the best pasta dishes I've ever had! The menu is expansive and they do offer happy hour pricing on the steaks and pork chops. My friends had very steaks and pork chops with different rubs and toppings. They have an expensive drink menu with a ton of drinks made with different spirits. The server was attentive and answered all questions. The overall experience was amazing.
