Gives good, accurate estimate prices before performing work. Calls back after each step is complete and with updates. Has a proper schedule and does the work the day they say they will. They store all the cars inside at the end of the night. Came back to have my custom manifold fabricated and tuned. They worked hard to get it done by my deadline and went ABOVE and beyond. Don't ever take ur car or parts here. Gave sound my 1jz head to get resurface and have my bc racing springs installed since I didn't have the right tooling. They don't do machine work so they sent my head to another shop. They quoted me $1,000 which I know is a crazy price but I was willing to pay because I heard they were the shop to go too. Boy was I wrong.. 2 months later Jennifer (lady at the front desk) called me and said "hey we don't have ur cam caps, you never gave them to us". I told her I 100% had everything in a box all nicely for them and she replied "I'll go look for them again" and didn't call back for another month saying they don't have the parts. Without those cam caps that they lost the engine is useless, they wouldn't admit to loosing the parts or anything. I have a big temper, so I tried my best to not go in there and act crazy to get my parts back and I also was really busy with work and just ended up giving up on the car because of this shop. She them called me a year later and told me if I was ever going to pickup my head and still pay them $1000... I don't understand how I still had to pay $1,000 for them loosing my parts and doing nothing but the resurface. I told her I will. I got a text from the owner Jerry about picking up my head and paying the bill to then find out they just sold my head and my bc racing springs. So basically I'm out of a $1500-2k head and $600+ worth springs. Long story short, don't waste ur time at this shop. Before all this happened I recommended my friend to this shop, he spent $9k and told to do basically anything it needs and he left with a car still not tuned right. read more

Absolutely awful. Got charged $2,000 for them to install gauges and change two o2 sensors. They weren't able to tune my car due to some miscommunication on Reid's part. On my way home my front driver side rim started wobbling. They didn't torque down the lugs for whatever reason they took the wheel off. I did everything they told me to do and three weeks in my car wasn't running healthy. By they way..better read that fine print and pay in cash. If you don't there is a 6% extra charge on your bill for using your card. read more

I have a -94, Z32 twin turbo that I purchased- took it to Sound Performance after searching shops that were familiar with 300zx platform. I was excited when I arrived to see elliots 300zx there and felt I had chose the best shop for my car. Before i had major work done- i asked Sound Performance to check compression and go over the car to see if everything was ok and ready for a performance upgrades... "yes everything looks good compression is good" they said- but they recommended I get a new fuel pump and regulator for a long cranking start I had.. so i did that- and then later that year i went back and I spent over 5k in parts and around 5k in labor on upgrades on the car- (upgraded turbos- turbo inlet piping- injectors- fuel rail- down pipes- testpipes- Kevlar clutch- dual solenoid boost controller- dual intake- new wire harness- exhaust manifolds-etc more...) most of what Sound Performance was doing was "bolt on's" but required pulling the engine- resurfacing the flywheel and very minor fab. When I got the car back they did not tune the car or install the boost controller as I asked. Brought my friend with me to pick up the car and he immediately noticed a hose was hanging and open to the atmosphere under the hood- this was the first RED FLAG-- Drove the car for a little over a month to break in the new kevlar clutch- the fuel pump that they just installed and recommended (walburo 255) took a shit and stopped working! Took it to a friend and they noticed the fuel regulator that was installed was also inadequate for the power range I was in. After those issues were taken care of, I drove the car for another week or so and the turbos started making noise.(less than 1000 miles of "easy break in" driving after upgrades) Ill try to make this short but basically- after some more research and "Z32 community" outreach I took my car to another place that works with z32's to have it looked at. Here is what they found and have pictures of; 1:wastegate actuator was flopping around unbolted 2:vacuum lines criss-crossed 3:downpipe bolts too short barely hanging on by a few threads 4:inlet bolts barely hanging on by a few threads 5: oil cooler missing!!! 6: recirculation valves plugged! 7: transmission spacer plate missing and gap open for debris to get inside 8: balance tube bolted ontop of wiring harness pinching wires 9: Knock sensor not installed 10; turbos now have radial and axial "play" 11: engine compression is bad The list goes onnn but makes me sick so ill stop there.... This car was a n/a to TT swap so im fully aware some things were mixed N/a parts and that was communicated to Sound that I had concerns of some of it- and im not accusing Sound of plugging my pcv ports or for the "missing" oil cooler..... however..... Sound Performance NEVER mentioned ANYTHING about ANY problems or POTENTIAL problems with my car!!!!!. Sound Performance called me saying everything is good to go and ready for pickup.....The other shop I took my car to was amazed that any shop would allow me to leave with the car in this condition knowing that it was a time bomb. They clearly knew what was going on and just neglected to tell me. Sound Performances answer: "well your budget was tight and you told us that you did not want to spend more than "X" amount" WELL ITS FREE TO INFORM ME OF MY CARS CONDITION!!!!!!! ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSES- as if they didn't notice and were unaware of the plugged ports/ hoses open to the atmosphere, missing parts, all of which was ignored when putting the engine back in the car and installing a new wire harness without a knock sensor. it would have been nice to know that my car will blow up if I continue to drive it the way Sound Performance had left it. This is my first twin turbo car- I learned a lot from this -about my car and about Sound Performance..... I feel robbed and taken advantage of to say the least because im not a twin turbo expert. Disappointed and angry would also be a gross understatement of my feelings towards Sound Performance- i did alot of research afterwards and the more i found out about how these cars operate the more angry i got of the obvious negligence on their part- any good practicing shop would have an obligation to let its customers know of these things.. . I do not recommend ANYONE go there- seemed to me at first that it was a legit operation- then I got my car and within a very short period it was totally fked.. I am now just finally getting things for my car back together after over a year of not having my car on the road. Needing a new engine- turbos and other things at this point is just sickening.. In the words of another shop "hugely sloppy work" Don't take your car here if you want any type of performance out of it- or maybe you have to spend 50k to have them actually take care of your vehicle??
