Dr. Ly tells me everything that I would and would not love to hear but I already know it and how to proceed with her referral, which I need to know. Again she is very candid, competent, thorough, and detailed in explaining all my questions (knowledgeable) in a fair-minded way, and is caring and cost conscious to the patient's benefit. Her office is equipped with state of the art technology and no nonsense professional staff. They will not charge you anything more than you have to pay needlessly. For example, they ask me if I want eye dilation (insurance covered) or flash digital imaging ($25), my choice is the latter, which is a more advanced preferred procedure, rather than to walk away with dilated eyes. I thought it was odd that I needed an appointment just to look at frames and and for someone in the "Optical" department to measure me for new lenses. I needed another appointment to pick up the new ones but did not see well with them and returned them. Someone there (I don't recall who) suggested I come back to have my vision re-checked by Ben Wong. I made another appointment and Dr. Wong issued a different prescription for new lenses. The same person in "Optical" handled the new order and I was not charged for the second go round. I made yet another appointment to pick them up. They seemed okay there in the store. But I could not use them using a computer or just reading. I tried desperately to adjust to them for two weeks, then simply gave up out of frustration. Long story short - the PD (pupillary distance) had been measured incorrectly and I experienced headaches, eye strain, and neck aches during those two weeks. I had not been give a detailed billing statement and asked for one a couple of weeks later. After reviewing the charges, I saw that I had been give bifocals - not the trifocals I had ordered! In addition, the person who assisted me in "Optical" apparently needs professional training. My confidence and trust in their business is completely destroyed. I emailed them three days ago with my complaints and asked for a refund. They thanked me for my concerns and said they would get back to me "when [they] we have more information." I am waiting.

Dr. Zurcher is an excellent optometrist, but unfortunately the front office experience has…read moreconsistently been frustrating. Over the years, I have repeatedly encountered billing errors, coverage misunderstandings, and situations where I have had to explain my own insurance benefits in order for the office staff to process claims correctly. This has been especially problematic with my daughter's coverage, where it seems that benefits are not reviewed thoroughly before bills are issued. Had we not understood our insurance coverage ourselves, we would have paid significantly more out of pocket for services that should have been covered. Most recently, I was told by the front staff that I was required to schedule and complete an eye exam in order to obtain a prescription. After taking time off work, rearranging meetings, driving to the appointment, and spending nearly three hours (travel/exam/kids arrangements) , Dr. Zurcher informed me that my prescription was actually valid for another year and that the exam was not necessary. Since I was already there, we completed the exam anyway. The office then attempted to bill me for the appointment that I had been incorrectly told was required. After considerable discussion, Dr. Zurcher confirmed the mistake made by the front office and the exam fee was waived. Now, while attempting to order additional contacts, I am being told by the front staff that my prescription is expired and that the exam I completed is considered invalid because the charge was waived. I have been told that I must either pay for the previously waived exam or undergo another exam in order to obtain contacts. This makes little sense. If the office required me to attend an appointment that was unnecessary, causing me to take leave from work, rearrange my schedule, spend time traveling, and incur personal expenses, why should I now be penalized because the office chose to waive the fee after acknowledging its own error? If the exam is invalid because it was waived, when will the office reimburse me for the time and expenses I incurred attending the appointment that I never needed in the first place? I have stayed with this practice because Dr. Zurcher is knowledgeable, professional, and honest. However, after years of recurring billing and administrative issues, and being told by the office manager that I should seek care elsewhere rather than have these mistakes corrected, I have decided to do exactly that. It's unfortunate, because the quality of care provided by the doctor has been overshadowed by the ongoing problems with the front office staff and office management.

I got a second pair but the prescription isn't quite right and the area for clear reading is tiny. I finally bought a cheap pair online that I use for reading and sometimes use the eye love pair for driving or when I won't be doing close work. they tried but I got tired of going in and never quite getting it right.
