Got these great beers and also Mexican food at this Tinley Park brewery. In fact this is located close to another one. Soundgrowler likes to crank the music up. A pretty hopping ass atmosphere. Those that like loud music will certainly like this. Coming here we missed it a few times at first. It's located on the edge of an industrial park. This is a pretty strange location it seems. About the only reason to be in this area actually. Kind of hard to see amongst all the warehouses. It's about $7 a pint. Pretty similar to typical craft beer prices though. Best we had of these was the Straight Blade. This is a West Coast IPA that's bitter with citrus and floral notes. As for the food it's mostly Mexican. It's $12 for the Lunch Special. There's a choice and we got tacos. Choose proteins including options for plant based. We got these with Beyond meat, and the faux al pastor. Basically they make meaty substitutes out of mushrooms. These come with beans and rice. A lot more on the menu. There's also brunch on Sundays with omelettes and other stuff. Has more than just beers of course. It's also got choices of burritos, tacos, and tortas. There's lots of things for vegans and vegetarians. read more

This is the type of brewery that I don't mind spending an entire afternoon...or day at. We came on a Saturday & while it was busy, it didn't feel crazy or that we needed to leave. There's tons of different seating options - we were lucky to snag a table. The people around were also super nice, moving to make sure there wasn't a random seat open and making sure people could actually sit. They have a bunch of different beer options - I went with my typical IPA and it was delicious. They also have actual cocktails, but as a beer drinker, I needed to make my way around the beer menu first. They also have food - which is sadly why I'm dropping this down to 4 stars. I got a steak quesadilla and it was the greasiest food I've ever had. It might have been appreciated after a few more IPAs, but it was a rough start to my night. I was able to eat the top parts of it, but the rest of it wasn't really edible. The beer and cool music / vibes are really what makes this place great. read more

My family and I frequent breweries in this area and we finally revisited Soundgrowler. The theme is metal/alternative with unique beer flavors, tequila cocktails, mexican food, and an outdoor picnic area. It seems they recently expanded into an adjacent space to offer private parties, have monthly events, or offer additional seating. The inside is rather open but all tables and chairs are stool height which isn't ideal for families with kids. Most of the family groups had to sit outside which had more limited seating. I tried a couple of their seltzer flavors and definitely liked peach the most. It did end up tasting very syrup like. I also tasted some of my families beers which were good not great. This isn't one of our go-to breweries in the area but it is certainly worth visiting to see if it is your vibe! read more

The food was very good but the portions were very small. So the value is not there. I ordered a Chicken Burrito and my wife had a couple of steak tacos. I was still hungry after eating the burrito but it was very tasty. My wife said that here steak tacos were too dry and too small. But otherwise tasted good. The restaurant atmosphere is gothic which is not my preference. The dining area is large and the tables are nicely spaced apart. They have a very large outside dining area as well. This is also a micro brewery so I will be back to try one of their beers and another food item off their menu. read more

This place has been on my bucket list since it first opened many years ago. Some of my acquaintances come here and perform here. This place is awesome for a wide range of reasons from hosting "metal yoga", bingo events, live music and other events. They have great food Options and certain things can be me made vegan too! Though as good as that is, I personally felt their beer was a little sub par and they didn't have any guest flavors / taps that most breweries have. They do have water, a great outdoor section for other events too. I absolutely love the heavy metal music playing throughout the brewery and playing music from "Bury Your Dead", not alot of people know that band, so that was a cool moment. read more

First timer to this local brewery and food spot. Been a favorite of many local neighborhood best-of lists, and beer availability in the Chicagoland area so knew I had to check it out. Beer didn't disappoint, good selection of various kinds, potency and flavors! Beer available will change frequently. Food is a distinct Mexican variety of tacos, burritos and tortas. Specials come with chip and salsa (pretty good!) and the lunch and dinner also with refried beans (yum!). Lunch specials at $12 and dinner specials at $13 is pretty low cost in this day and age. I had a lunch burrito and it hit the spot with the beans and chips. Ambiance has a somewhat hardcore rock, metal theme but at lunch saw local folks of all kinds for the taco and beer. In warmer months also has benches for outside sitting (probably setup during COVID times). Service not bad, had one lady at the bar for the whole place, but after the lunch rush got pretty slow so understandable. Definitely coming here again, perhaps in the evening! read more

This review is a bit overdue, but Soundgrowler is a very cool local brewpub. I stopped in a couple months ago with a couple friends after having already visited Hailstorm, so we were already feeling pretty good and wanted some food. Soundgrowler has some great tacos, and I'm not just saying that because I was half in the bag! The atmosphere emphasizes stoner metal, which I enjoy, so they had some cool tunes on while we ate and drank. I had a dark lager that was very good. Horrible service. Stopped in Saturday afternoon 5/31 and there were two servers, a male & a female, we got the female. Asked a question about a beer and she was visibly bothered/upset at the question. Her rudeness continued and I decided to close out and leave the beer 1/2 drank rather than be subject to more of her. I was looking forward to trying three different beers from Soundgrowler since it was a brewery I wasn't familiar with or heard of before. Alas I just wasn't all that impressed with these beers which is unfortunate because I was really looking forward to it as their concepts and art such as what they have on their cans I really liked. First up is the Mexican lager the Tortilla Hands. I will admit I'm pretty picky with this type of lager simply because I love having a well made one. The breadiness unfortunately wasn't there and kind of came off bland but the aftertaste did have a nice heat to it. This beer is apparently very popular for this brewery. The next beer was the Black Breath. Another lager, this one being a dark lager. I think I liked this one a bit better than the first but once again nothing too memorable. The final one also didn't do anything groundbreaking for me. That was the War Blood IPA. This was a red IPA and is a kind of an IPA I don't get a hold of very often so I was excited to try it but once again it was just a bit underwhelming. I didn't try any of the food and perhaps that is where I would have hit my stride with the brewery but unfortunately I just wasn't terribly impressed with the beers but "they will do" in a pinch. read more

Alright.. let's talk about what Soundgrowler does right... Food & Beer. They have great Mexican food and really good fucking beer!! Soundgrowler is a Brewpub in an industrial park in Tinley Park, IL, and you'd drive past it a hundred times if you weren't looking for it. Their menu is pretty limited .. street tacos, tortas, quesadillas, nachos... plus a couple of specials. They feature maybe 7-10 draft beers, as well as some seasonal, rotational brews. One of these beers is Burning Hill - which is a smokey Marzen. It. Is. Absolutely. Amazing. It's one of the most unique craft beers I've ever had. Perfectly balanced and deliciously malty. I purchased (2) 4-packs to go on my way out. Their Tortilla Hands Mexican Lager is also a standout, and a beer they serve year-round. It's crisp and light, and the perfect answer if your go-to beer at home is a Lite or Coors Light beer. Their tacos are served traditionally with onions and cilantro. Nice touch. Accompanied by 3 different salsas that are all unique and tasty. Their al pastor and birria tacos are standouts. I ordered a taco platter. Pretty reasonably priced - three tacos with beans and rice for $12. My wife had the shrimp burrito they had on special. Large grilled shrimp were served in a big burrito with cheese, rice, avocado and topped with a spicy chipotle cream sauce. It was amazing.. Truly unique. I've been here a few times before, and I can tell you that I've never had bad food, or a hand-crafted beer that I didn't like. For this, Soundgrowler earns 4 stars. Now let's talk about some things that need improving... it's a "seat yourself" type of arrangement.. when we got there, we sat down at a dirty table with a couple of glasses from the folks that left before us. Unfortunately, no one really came by and picked the glasses up for a while - or wiped the table. Not a huge deal, but a simple thing that just shouldn't happen. This is an order at the bar type of place, and then a runner brings the food out to you. You order your own beers at the bar - so it's kind of a self service type of place. The shrimp burrito on special didn't list a description as to what came inside, so I decided to ask the bartender who took my order. She didn't know what came inside the burrito?!? If your restaurant features a 12 page menu, then not knowing about a particular dish is understandable.. this place serves like 10 things.. how do you not know about the special of the day?!?! The place itself is an open space.. it's pretty loud and the owners are definitely metal fans.. again, not something bothers me, but it's not going to be for everybody. How is it I just finding out about Soundgrowler now? I am almost tempted not to write a review so we can keep it a secret so tables are always available for us. We came to Soundgrowler via suggestion from the yelp app as a nearby brewpub with food after golfing in the area. Although it is a bit tucked away, it was not difficult to find and parking was plentiful. We got a table right away. It is well signed and clear that you order at the bar and pay with card. Our beers were good, the tacos legit. I had steak and al pastor. The music and art are dark but cool. The volume was reasonable so we could easily talk. They have bands and music fests on occasion. Great place to pre-game for Tinley Park concerts. read more

As a person with celiac, breweries aren't a place that we can often go to and have something other than a random cider to drink. At Soundgrowler, they have ciders AND fruited seltzers! Plus the most amazing tacos. Their chips aren't great, but I'm not there for chips when their tacos are so delicious. I've tried most of their varieties, but my favorite is the birria tacos. I didn't even bother to try the food. First off, the service was terrible. Me and my buds walked in confused and uncomfortable to say the least. We walked in with everyone staring at us as there was only around 6 tables so we jus seated ourselves only for many more surprises to come. One of them being that you have to go up to the bar to order the food yourself and you would only know if you figure it out yourself because you don't even get greeted. But our main problem with the place was just how satanic it was. There was a big pink box up against the wall I don't exactly remember what it said but it was something so wicked that we just got up and left. I wasn't surprised to see that after looking up at the wall and seeing a big demon goat skeleton thing being shot by a laser as "art". Not to mention, the tables where sticky and from what i've experienced, the place was not clean. And the staff where miserable and unwelcoming just to add. So all and all, whether the food is good or not I without a doubt in my mind will never come here again definitely the most uncomfortable i've ever been going to a restaurant 0/10. read more

My husband and I finally stopped in here last weekend. Really glad we did. Such a cool place! Loved the vibe. Super friendly guy behind the bar. Very personable. They offer a lot of good beers and some are available for purchase to take home. We also had the nachos while we enjoyed our beer. Really tasty and very generous with the toppings. The decisions to try the different types of beers are very difficult and I went on try to and totally enjoy them however this place seem to be more of a family environment and people bringing in their kids to a drinking establishment just is not cool. After stretching our legs for a few hours the tank was on empty for food and beer. Soundgrowler filled in nicely. They have a smaller menu here of basic Mexican fare but they suffice. The burrito I had was really good and the chips & guac were outstanding. Onto the beer. They had a smaller menu of beer but that's okay. Just perfect what you do..and the one I had was pretty darn good. Went with the Sun Rocks Hefewiezen which has a banana background. Pretty solid beer. They have multiple types of beer styles, with several pale ales, which are my favorite. I got the orange haze and ghost runner. They also have a food menu, nothing too crazy, but still good, I got a steak taco and elotes, served fast, and didn't cost much. They also offer 10 oz pours, which I always enjoy, instead of just full pints or samplers. Cool brewery in an industrial area. The parking lot is pretty large. There is a cool outdoor area with lights. The service was slightly slow. I paid $40 to reserve a table indoors on a Tuesday night. This was a good idea. The money is used to pay for tacos and beer. It is great that they have food available. This is not a food truck or a restaurant beside the brewery, it is actually inside. The beer is better than the food... and I would much rather go to Pepe's than eat here again. The chips, however, were tasty as was the squirt bottle salsa served with the food. About half of the beers were pretty decent, I would come back if nearby for a few of them. Others I would pass on, but that goes for anywhere. Service was okay, nothing to praise or complain about. I came in with pretty high hopes from recommendations from friends with the beer and food. Maybe we came in on a bad day..maybe not? Went here with my GodFather and Fiancée and went in fairly dry(checked around for beer and tacos and it was fairly close-- okay, figured I'll bite). Oh, it's just around the corner and absolutely STICKERBOMBED to sh!t?! OKAY, now I'm absolutely f*cking with this place... letmeinletmeinletmein. The inside is spacious with great acoustics, metal playing at a loud-but-reasonable level, the decor is industrially themed and well curated, and immaculately clean. It also smells FANTASTIC inside. We sat, picked out food and beer, ordered at the bar, and were promptly served with the freshest, CRISPEST brews and the most high tier bar tacos I've EVER had the pleasure of slamming into the hole in my face. Food was SO fresh, the salsas were bangin' and my GodFather, who admittedly isn't much of a drinker, bought a 4 pack for himself to take home as well as an extra for my Fiancée and I! Absolutely in love with this spot. I've been to many suburban breweries (Miskatonic, etc.) but this one just takes the cake. The bartenders were no-nonsense friendly and on their customer service game (cut the bullish!t type conversation, 'I'm super busy here' vibes-- but not rude in the slightest, quick but congenial conversation over the course of ordering and checkout-- AND very helpful). Lastly, the patrons here are the absolute best! The crowd this place attracts tells you a lot about the establishment itself-- and they were all absolutely fantastic. Countless Band tees, patched vests and beards-- colored hair ands lots of black. This place is "my team"-- 100%. Props to the entire staff, kitchen, and management team. Cool brewery and taco place especially for Tinley Park. They have a good variety of quality beers available. Had four different ones and none disappointed. Their tacos are really solid too - the Al pastor was definitely the best. Their quesadillas were good as well, and most of the food is a good affordable price. Our first order of chips were a bit stale, but the second batch came out decent, although they were still generic store-bought type of chips, so not too great. Service was very accommodating and helpful as well. The food is very delicious. The red sauce is spicy. The guacamole is fresh. As a vegatarian, there are a lot of meatless options. They have beyond meat dishes.
