I was excited to try this place as a few blogs said that Hot Buns cinnamon rolls were really good. It's a very small cute little bakery with different sweet and savory selections, like croissants, crepes and long John's. I guess my expectations were a little too high and my eyes ordered more than I should have. Ordered 2 cinnamon rolls and a long John. I was quite disappointed in both. The cinnamon rolls were quite dry and not enough ooey gooey cinnamon, butter and sugar filling. The frosting doesn't quite melt either. It was only when you got to the center was when the cinnamon rolls were soft with filling. The other parts are just dry and flavorless. The long John was also underwhelming. They used the same frosting as the cinnamon rolls inside the long John. I guess I'm used to more of a custard filling. Sadly, I'm still in search of a great cinnamon roll in Whistler. read more

this place really irritates me. We were in here in the last two days in the morning and we specifically asked the owner what time they close and she said 7 PM so we went back at 6 PM last night and they were closed. We thought it was a fluke because of a recent Pemberton Fire with a lot of employees living there, etc. Then we went back tonight at 6 PM again for dessert and they were closed again. Two employees are in there, but the lights are off and they won't answer the door. There's a big sign that says they're open till 7 PM every day. It's the owner's choice what time she chooses to stay open till, but your signage needs to reflect your actual hours consistently. Also, your Yelp hours need to be accurate too. People drive all the way over here and pay for parking and then you're closed. It's extremely disappointing and I've been supporting your business since around 2007. read more

Crêpes for Thanksgiving [Whistler, BC Canada] Located in the heart of Whistler Village we came across Hot Buns Bakery while strolling along the walkways and decided to stop by. Inside is cozy and busy. Luckily, we were able to get the last table. This is a counter service restaurant. They will call your name when food is ready. There was no sign but looks like we bus our own table too and place dirty dishes and silverware in a plastic bucket. Although they are famous for their cinnamon buns we opted to try their crêpes and got one each from their sweet and savoury options: "Breakfast" savory crepe which includes egg, Black Forest ham, mozzarella and balsamic glaze. I dunno but it was a bit too salty for my taste. "NSB" for the sweet crepe: Nutella, strawberry, banana, whipped cream and chocolate sauce. Now this was yummy! We ordered crepes, one savory and one sweet. You gotta get the NSB Nutella Strawberry and Banana at every crepe shop, that the measure of standard lol! Our savory choice was the Pemberton. I'd have to say I'd give it a 3.5. The Pemberton (4) was packed full, gooey mozzarella and ham and cooked to perfection potatoes. The crispy onions provided that extra flavor crunch in each bite. Cute little coffee and crêpes café near the ski slopes. The coffees were good. The crêpe was OK and we grabbed a Tex-Mex savory crêpe. I've never tried a savory crate before and it tastes like a traditional burrito with the crêpe being your tortilla shell. Not a huge fan of the savory crêpes. But we were able to order quickly and secured a table without a problem (it seems people eat and leave rather quickly, not like a cafe where people set up and stay for a while). I ordered a ham and cheese croissant and, wow - it was delicious. I ended up having to order another because my family all wanted to eat it too. It was fresh and cheesy and not what I would expect by appearance - the meat wasn't too thick and over powering, and it wasn't dried out or too moist, it was perfect. I got the smoked meat sandwich, it was pathetic. Small sandwich for 13$ when you could make better at home. Meat didn't taste smoked at all either, and they forgot the pickle when they pre-made it however long ago. First off, I want to mention that this review is based off of what I thought this place was, a bakery. We already ate so we were just looking for something light to take on the road. They did have a small selection of pastries so we decided to give it a try since we were already there and there was a good deal going on. The cinnamon bun we ordered was huge. It was like full to the container! The cream cheese frosting was good though a little too sweet and thick for me, I couldn't even taste any cinnamon in the bun cuz of the frosting. We spotted this on the last day of our stay and regretted having missed this gem earlier in our 7 day stay at Whistler. We had the softest and best crepes I've ever had. We ordered mixed berry crepes, apple cider, and a stuffed donut. A fellow diner we chatted with ordered the savory breakfast crepe and said they were amazing. We're gonna try this next time. Our order was ready quickly as we went close to 11 am. The place is designed as a self-service model. You order food at the counter and pick it up yourself. Bus your own plates. As the name indicates...hot buns...their hot buns or cinnamon buns are the best! I bought it one evening and didn't get a chance to eat it that night. I put it into the refrigerator and ended up heating it up in the microwave and eating it the next day. It was seriously so crunchy on the outside and edges! Then, the inside was nice and soft! Oh my goodness!! Best cinnamon bun I have ever eaten!! The only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 was because the lady was a little rude when I walked in. I stood at the counter for a couple minutes before she even acknowledged me. She was instead speaking to another coworker and needed to finish her conversation before taking my order. No apology or anything. They have a few indoor tables if you are looking to eat it there. It was very crowded when I went in and they all seemed to be eating crepes.
