Was excited for piping hot soup on a chilly spring day, and tried one of their daily soups... but thought it was just okay. It wasn't as rich and flavorful as we were expecting and tasted kind of thin. read more

Absolutely loved the salmon potato soup! I was looking for something new and flavorful-- it did not disappoint! The location is perfect too. As a visitor from California, I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a delicious and satisfying meal. They switch up the menu often too. Can't wait to see what they have next time I stop by. I'll definitely be back! read more

Wors clam chowder I've had . . It was more like chicken soup . . There were a lot of veggies but the clams were really small and it was not creamy at all . . I even went back to make sure they gave me the right soup . . I'm not sure if there are different chefs but this clam chowder was disappointing . . The people working were not friendly at all . . I asked for a bread bowl and he said "we don't do that here . . " The saving grace was the focaccia bread which was very tasty and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside . . Disappointing . . . read more

Good purveyor of soups. We often pick up pre-made, packaged soups from Soup Meister. We've tried the Minestrone, Carrot, Seafood Chowder, Clam Chowders and Chicken Noodle soups. All are pricy, but they all come with lots of vegetable/meat chunks. Unfortunately, the fish used in the seafood chowder has a freezer burn taste which detracts from an otherwise terrific product. The soups are made from an army of personnel who labor to peel potatoes and chop carrots. I know I'm getting a fresh product from them, so I am willing to pay a bit more. They also do a steady business selling ready-to-eat soup for customers wanting their soup fix right away. Worth a visit if you are at Lonsdale Quay. read more

Go where the locals go! The serve a variety of freshly made soups at a great price. We had the Boston Clam Chowder which came with your choice of bread and butter. Generous portions, hearty pieces of vegetables..... quite delicious! read more

Very pleased with my soup experience here! Was at an event at the pipe shop and stopped by the quay for lunch. Got a medium clam chowder. It came with a super large and delicious roll and was very affordable at just under $7 for a medium. They had 4 or 5 soups available. Most were broth based and a good mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. The clam chowder was good. Not as creamy as the chain places and a bit on the lean side in terms of filler items like potato. It was nice since there was a lot of bread. read more

At the Lonsdale Quay market. I got a large clam chowder for under $10. Comes with a bun. I chose wheat. Price is a little steep for soup, but I heard good things. The bun was not good and way too crumbly!!! The soup was really good though and the large hit the spot. They have frozen soups for a discounted price. There are a lot of other good options at the market, but consider trying Soup Meister. read more

4.5 stars!!! Soup is one of my favourite dish, and soup meister nailed it in terms of execution. A cozy stall buried near the end of the market which serves hot soup or cold soups to take home for future enjoyment! The menu rotates daily and their service is fast and efficient. I tried a medium Italian wedding serving. Fantastic! Large chunks of generous italian sausage, heaps of veggies and tiny cute tube shaped pasta in one bowl; I only wish it was topped off with some grated parmesan cheese. Nonetheless, hearty in a word. Prices here are definitely steep: $7.75 for a large bowl. They do serve it with a premium bun: whole wheat, white or focaccia. Overall, highly recommend if you love soup! The menu rotation has plenty of variety to suit everyone's needs - they even have cold tomato soup in the summer!!! read more

I had the clam chowder. it was OK, but I wouldn't make a special trip like I did this time after reading the reviews. The chowder was a rather thin stock with A WHOLE LOT of chopped celery and some clams. Maybe they should call it celery chowder. read more

The seafood chowder tastes amazing--just what I needed! It's perfect for when you want something warm and comforting. The service was lovely too. read more

Yum! As a soup lover, I knew I had to try this spot as soon as I saw it. It's downstairs in the Lonsdale Quay Market. I ended up stocking (haha, "stock" ing up- get it?) for when we were going to be on Vancouver Island. I got the Seafood Chowder, Chicken Noodle, Potato Salmon Chowder and a Vegetable Soup. The Seafood Chowder is absolutely amazing and I wish I could eat another bowl of it now. It's a tomato based chowder with tons of fresh seafood (snapper, clams, halibut, etc). My second favorite was the chicken noodle which is always a solid choice. read more

Love this place for a great tasting bowl of soup. They make new flavours everyday and serve them with a bun. They also have refrigerated soups, which are typically good for 4 days. After that they'll put them in their freezer for a discounted price ($3.50 the small ones and $7.00 for the large ones). I've tried the minestrone, chicken vegetable, smoked salmon, German potato, beef vegetable and chicken noodle. All of them were amazing. I can't wait to return to try some new flavours! read more

Just got back from a Bike Ride to North Vancouver where we stopped at Lonsdale Quay for a rest break. Since I was hungry from riding and fighting Today's Windy conditions, I decided to have some of the Soup Meister great Seafood Chowder for lunch, Its a Tomato Based soup with lots of chucks of salmon and white fish with flavor that comes putting in the right mix of ingredients together and cooking it for the right amount of time. A large bowl with a bun makes for a good lunch at about six bucks. Another biker in the group had the Chicken Mushroom which I have had before and he told me he really enjoyed his also. Yes I be back again. Lonsdale Quay has several good bicycle racks to use for bicycle parking read more

"My go-to place when I crave comfort food, especially the warm homemade soup!!" I highly recommend their Boston Clam Chowder. I've ordered it a couple times, and the taste was great as always. Well blended with ample amount of basil. Feels like home. Mhmmmmm. Reasonable price!! Only $6 CAD (including tax) for a medium size soup + bread on the side. read more

Sure it was good. I've had much better soup elsewhere but ya it was good. There were about 5 selections today and I chose the chicken double noodle (was the best one on today's menu). It was good. Omg I cannot get enough of Ralf's creations. Every single soup I've tried was sheer delight. Chicken veggie -- light and uplifting. Beef veggie -- rich and full of flavour. Veggie barley -- packed with energy. I could go on and on! Can't wait to try their Borscht! They offer free bread buns too and extra large size soup that is big enough to share is a great deal. read more

There's an overwhelming array of choices at Lonsdale Market, and this place is definitely worth your attention. Soup Meister offers the classics, like Tomato and Italian Wedding, and something new-- all of which you're bound to enjoy. if you're not sure which soup to choose, they are happy to offer a sample. I ordered a medium Singapore Rhapsody (slightly curry flavored soup with beef and a ton of veggies) which was perfect for a light lunch. Each order of soup is served with your choice of bread; I had a delightfully fresh and soft focaccia roll. I was impressed with the hearty ingredients; they are definitely not trying to get away with a skimpy soup. I enjoyed this on a mild summer day, and I can imagine a cold day would make the soup even more satisfying. read more

Located at the back of the Quay, near the shiatsu place. The soup is excellent. Flavourful broth, quality ingredients and obviously made fresh. There is a choice of several soups. A small bowl, with a bun costs $5. I chose the large, which was $7. I had the seafood chowder - very nice, lots of fish and clams. My friend had the hamburger soup. Again, flavourful, meaty and a meal in itself. The soup is served in either paper "to go" cups, but they will serve in ceramic bowls and a metal plate to hold the bowl of soup and the bun. I always chose this low-waste option. You can eat your soup in the nearby seating area or take it to the main food court area at the other side of the quay. If one likes a craft beer with their tasty soup - bring your bowl and tray to Green Leaf Brewery and but a glass or pint to go with. You can eat take out from other eateries in the brew pub seating area as they don't have a food kitchen (just be sure to get a beer from them). It's an excellent, filling tasty meal with a great view. Soup Meister also has containers of soup and stock to purchase and enjoy at home. Recommended. read more

Value: 9/10 Taste: 9/10 Ambiance: 8/10 Service: 10/10 Love this place! Had the Italian wedding soup and it was delicious! They are very generous with their portion and the soup is very tasty. I love homemade soups, but sometimes the prospect of all that chopping and simmering can be a little much. When you want instant gratification, go to Soup Meister. They make over 100 different kinds of soups (but not all at once), as well as stocks, sauces, dips, dressings, gravies and butters. There are lots of vegetarian options available. I especially like the tomato basil mushroom soup. You can either pick something up from the refrigerator or pull up a seat and enjoy one of the three soups of the day at the counter. Delicious! read more

Passed by this place while at the Lonsdale Quay Market, and I must say, it was quite a good find! The soups here all look good, but because I have such a weak spot for clam chowder, that's pretty much the only thing I order (if it's an option). I ordered a "large" bowl, which I believe is actually the "middle" size. They start their sizes at medium or something like that. The soup was very flavorful and rich, but not heavy, and you could taste the clams! Prices here are decent for the amount of soup that you get, and I personally think that the large size can be comfortably shared by two people. Give this place a shot if you're at the market! read more

Campbells is better. I wasn't hungry but sampled my gf's new england clam chowder (small was $5.10+tax incl bread and butter). Overly thick and lacking in flavour, Campbell's chunky would win easily. It was edible though. All the staff chopping away were young'ins. That may be the root cause. Sorry kids. read more

3 Words... Manhattan Clam Chowder Bursting with flavour and seafood meat! You can tell that the flavour came from the ingredients and not some powdered mix. Their staff is always happy as well. Soup Meister.. a great place in Lonsdale Quay to go to on a grey gloomy day when you want something warm with a little kick to it. I quite enjoy the soups I've enjoyed and love that they give you a nice little bun to go along with your bowl of soup. Each day they have a list of about 4 freshly made soups to choose from and if you aren't wanting soup right at that very moment you can go to the fridge/freezer that is off to the side and get some soup to take home with you. Can never go wrong with a nice hot bowl of soup on a grey day in Vancouver! read more

It's not just just a great place to eat, it's a great place to shop, too. When I'm late getting home, I like to stop in to get dinner handled for the whole gang at home. Even on special occasions you can find a creative and delicious first course for your guests. While you may think of it as a place for soup, you can get gravy and demi glace here, too. This place is a gem! read more

big hearty bowls of soup made from only the freshest ingredients and no preservatives. I tried the seafood chowder and it was delicious with generous amounts of seafood. the buns that come with each bowl are perfect...soft and cloudy on the inside, slightly crunchy on the outside, ideal for dipping! If there's Tomato Basil, outta my way. When I enter the Quay from the parking lot, I always squint to see what soup in on tap for the day. Recently I've had the Beef Barley and the Tomato Basil. I think Tomato Basil is the best. A lovely tomato soup with a hint of heat. I've tried the Cream of Chicken: chunks of chicken with big slices of mushrooms. Yum. It comes with a bun (white, brown or foccacia). You can get it to go or for dine in... I always get it to go because we go and sit near the All Day Cafe to get coffee. I think they give you more if you have a for-here bowl. I get the large. It's $5.90 plus tax. I also get a coke there... it's in a can. They also have a freezer section with containers of soup. The Quay is usually a first stop so I don't want to buy a frozen soup defrosting in my car all day. read more

So I discovered today that I may have unintentionally lied in my previous review. Sorry...so so sorry.... In my defense, it's reaaally more of a half-lie if anything. Basically, the whole under $5 meal only applies if you order a small soup & NO bun (which is all I ever order these days, and hence the slip up). Small Soup WITH a bun is $5.10+tax. It's still a fair priced meal and, even though I'm avoiding carbs these days due to my ever expanding waistline, the airy chewy buns are well worth the extra coupla quarters. read more
