This was a nice stop when traveling between Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks. This is a small town that houses this gem of a stop. They have sandwiches, soups, and ice cream. Although in an odd space, wilt was loaded with stuff to keep your eyes wondering around and all of it was clean on my visit. Once I ordered at the counter I took a seat where my meal was delivered in short order. The wrap I had was large enough to fill me up and not have any leftovers, which would be inconvenient on my motorcycle. It was also a tasty bowl t of food stuffed into a tortilla. If I had a bit more tummy space, I'd have liked to go for a scoop of ice cream. Not on this visit though. We were bummed they didn't have a veggie soup, but their vegetarian sandwich was yummy and filled with all kinds of veggies (beets, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and banana peppers). The wheat bread was absolutely scrumptious. The side of potato wedges were freshly fried and equally good. We didn't try the pie or the ice cream - sadly :(! Highly recommend if staying in or near town or just passing through. There are many more options for meat eaters BTW. Heads up they have limited hours from 11-4 (most days). read more

This review is strictly for the ice cream. Do yourself a favor and get the vanilla soft serve in a cone. It's pretty damn good and I don't even like vanilla. Orderville, Utah. You can't go through a place like that and not expect it to be vividly, proudly, possibly annoyingly Mormon. All of this is true. Well, apparently - according to an info booklet that was helpfully sitting by my plate at the Soup Town Cafe - 'Mormon' was a name their enemies gave them and they prefer to be called members of the Church of Christ of Latter Day Saints. Um. Sorry, Mormons. No offense intended, but for the sake of this review.... 'Mormon' is... a much shorter name. I learned this and many other things as I read this booklet on the history of Orderville. It was kind of nice, in the midst of a busy day full of driving and hiking amongst hoodoos and towering canyon walls, to just sit down, read a nice booklet, and eat some absolutely kick-ass chicken noodle soup and a BLT on homemade-tasting bread (my dad asked after our meal, and apparently their bread is homemade only half the time; it wasn't on the day we went, but it sure tasted like it!). I'm really not much of a soup fan because I live in fear of those awful tasteless watery broths with limp veggies sinisterly floating around like evil mushy monsters. But this soup really was great. It was a meal on its own. The broth was creamy. The veggies were fresh. And every single piece of chicken was hearty - there were no end-pieces or fat slices or gristly bones hiding in the depths. We finished off with a caramel sundae, which I didn't know how much I appreciated until lated in the trip when we found ourselves faced with multiple caramel-related snafus - but I'm getting ahead of myself. THIS sundae was tasty and was made with REAL caramel. And real whipped cream. Actually,the entire time I felt like I had been transported back in time to the 1950's. Everything was simple and old-fashioned, including the food, and our waitress was stiffly polite. This place had never heard of MSG or additives or mass-production - it hadn't heard of TV's in the corners or WiFi or fancy-ass food. Or websites, apparently (it's nowhere on the internet). Maybe this wouldn't be my thing very often, but in the middle of a fast paced, go-go-go road trip, it was much appreciated. read more

For the location, this place is 5 stars (if it was in a city, it'd probably be 4 stars.) On our way from Bryce to Zion (89 freeway, about 20 minutes from Zion East Entrance), this cute sandwich shop serves ice cream, soups, and sandwiches. Nothing fancy, but really comforting. Stopped by on the way from Bryce to Zion, and it was a pretty underwhelming experience. The customer service was really slow - it took forever to get our orders taken, to be served, and to pay. Probably because there was only one person waiting and one person in the kitchen, but it was still kind of annoying. Also, the waitress wasn't in a very good mood (granted, she was pretty busy), and it was a little off-putting. The food was okay, nothing too special. My family and I got sandwiches and they were fine. Not really worth the price though. read more

This place was terrible! I ordered a grilled cheese and ham sandwhich to go. I asked for cheddar and they gave me swiss. It was supposed to come with a side of potato salad or chips, yet they forgot to include those. They however, did include a couple of old carrots. I ate one against my better judgment and it tasted AWFUL. Forget this, I thought, and took a bite of my sandwhich. There was something horribly wrong. At first, I thought that the taste of the sandwhich was just tainted by the awful carrot I had just bit into, but after a few bites I knew that couldn't be. There was something familiar about that taste. It tasted...moldy. I inspected the sandwhich and noticed that the cheese was moldy! Being as this was a GRILLED cheese and ham, I had to throw the whole tihng away.I just don't understand how someone can make a sandwhich with moldy cheese. It smelled so awful and it was MOLDY!! What's not to like? Thoughtfully decorated and clean atmosphere, accommodating service, and GREAT food! I had the hot roast beef sandwich and a chocolate/peanut butter shake which was not on the menu but was made especially for me nonetheless! My only suggestion is taller tables in comparison to the bench seats but that pales to the other many positives of this diamond in the desert! I will be back the next time I am through. read more
