I picked this hearing center based on many internet searches and ratings reviews. I had my hearing tests in October of 2015. I purchased the hearing aid recommended by Mollie Carson Au.D because of her knowledge, skill, and patience in finding the right AIDS for me. I have been back a few times for minor adjustments and periodic routine maintenance. The staff at this office are outstanding in providing proficient and very pleasant customer service. I love my hearing aids and thank God for guiding to this facility and providing me the opportunity to hear better than I have in more than a decade! The hearing aids purchased above had a great service life but finally needed replacing. My audiologists, Ian Gerszewski, recommended a pair of ReSound Quattro LiNX aids. He set them up to match the settings of my old units as a starting point. They are amazing! I contacted Ian regarding some needed adjustments via the ReSouond phone app and a day later he sent me a program adjustment that the app used to update my units correcting the problem. He tested my mother and then displayed graphs on large monitors on the wall for easy viewing and understanding of my mothers hearing loss. My today's appointment was with Dr. Anna Javins. The testing and findings brought great improvement to my hearing aid and my CI testings was still programmed perfectly. At my last appointment, she invited me to bring all my devices that was paired with my CI and hearing aid to be sure all were performing correctly. Had testing with Dr. Matt Young. He was very professional, asked me questions and explained everything that would be done in the testing. Upon completion told me my hearing was very good and wouldn't need any further testing for at least 5 years. He did not try to force any product on me and indicated my results would be forwarded to my primary care physician as now I have a baseline for my hearing results. Imagine my surprise when I learned that I needed hearing aids at age 51! I've been going to Dr. Sunny for 6 years now and have nothing but praise for her and her staff. I'm usually the youngest guy in the waiting area and am consistently delighted to see how the staff treats the elderly with such respect and patience. I've never experienced anything but a friendly and helpful atmosphere. Above that, Dr. Sunny stays on top of her professional game and mentions updates in technology to me during my occasional visits. Three weeks ago I picked up a new set of aids from her and they've been amazing. I love that they easily recharge overnight (no more disposable batteries - woohoo!) and have an app for my phone that let's me select and customize the listening mode, depending on my environment. I change the mode when I'm at the mall, in a restaurant or other noisy place and can now hear even better than with my first pair of aids (which I was already happy with). The sound quality is so much better that they're also more comfortable to wear all day, if that makes sense. Yes, the office gets hectic sometimes. Yes, occasionally I wait a half hour or more past my appointment time. But it doesn't bother me because I know I'm in professional hands and will be taken care of. So, if you're reading these reviews looking for a hearing aid source for your parents (wink-wink), give Dr. Sunny a try. You (I mean your parents) don't know how bad your (their) ears are until you (uh, your parents) get the aids. My family and friends never knew I wore them until I told them. I understand running on time. I am a health provider and we understand in LA the traffic is very erratic. I couldnt get out of my garage as a painter was blocking my car. My appt was at 10 am. I arrived at 10:13 and my provider had taken his 10:30 appointment to see 17 minutes early. What kind of practice is that. ? I took the day off for this appt. No options offered and no apologies. Since he took his 10:30 appt at 10:13, couldnt they have offered to take me at 10:45. I needed a 5 minute appointment. I take responsibility for being 13 min late. I need a new hearing center as I feel this is not a place I want to go with no flexibility and consideration of what is going on in the real world. read more

I never asked or wanted free services-that is an incorrect statement. Sunni, as the owner, you were not there and your staff was rude. Period. Our son tried to get services recently and was willing to pay, but was REFUSED services. One the reasons he returned, is when you have a hearing loss snd an aid is broken, you are desperate and go to a place where the manufacturer is connected to (Widex). South Bay hearing was not only rude to me but said because we didn't originally buy the aids there, they said they are unwilling to help. He eventually found American Hearing Aid and Balance, and they were amazing! He did pay a few hundred dollars for repair, but they sent it to Widex. They also gave him a loaner that they programmed for a fee, as well. Highly recommend them! read more

Both of my elderly parents needed quality hearing aids so we came here about 4 years ago after trying some cheaper hearing aids. It was pricey, but well worth the cost. Dr Gerszewski was extremely thorough and patient throughout the initial examination and with our follow up visits. My parents said the difference between the old hearing aids and the new ones were like night and day. After being re-examined this year, the software was used to update their hearing aids and once again there was a noticeable difference. Extremely happy that we went with South Bay Hearing for my father. Found it here on Yelp and all the past reviewers spoke glowingly of their services and professionalism. Since they offered a free hearing consultation we decided to try it out. The free consultation was way beyond our expectations. Matt was a pleasure to work with and had a great demeanor. He wears hear aids himself due to hearing loss so he had first hand experience on what works and doesn't work and all the little gotchas that the brochures don't tell you. He spent an hour testing my father's hearing for the different audio ranges to figure out how a hearing aid need to be programmed to help his hearing loss. There wasn't a sales pitch at all he just presented the pricing for the different tiers and said we can think about it at home. We felt very comfortable with the whole experience and decided to do a free 3 months trial of a pair of aids. Matt scheduled regular bi-weekly sessions with us to check in and address any issues. Never once did we wait for more than a couple minutes past our appointment time before he was ready to see us. I have to say having South Bay Hearing with us every step of the way made us decide to keep the hearing aid. And they will be there every step of the way here onward as their services post purchase are complimentary. It's not a simple device that you can just buy anywhere and have it work for you. Please comparison shop their *extremely* high and noncompetitive prices. I paid $7,910.00 for Resound hearing aids in 2015. I was in discomfort from the lyric aids, and the owner told me they only had the most expensive model in stock. (I can't believe I didn't have the presence to push back on this in the moment, but the discomfort due to the high-priced lyrics that had been in my ears actually rendered me a bit vulnerable). I've regretted spending this much ever since. The staff is very nice and professional (I want to be clear: my review is no reflection on the professionalism of the staff), but I've since learned that I did not need to spend NEARLY this much. I'm a business owner myself and I've never tried to gouge my customers. Please know that there are today many affordable options, it is too easy to spend thousands of dollars more than you need. Many of their customers are older (was my observation during every single office visit), likely somewhat price insensitive, and perhaps unaware of their options. For these reasons, I suspect many customers do not realize how much they are overpaying. High-quality hearing aids do NOT need to cost you $7,000 or $8,000. For myself, I will be trying Costco because I simply do not trust the owner to care about my cost. Please just don't overpay like I did, or let your family member overspend their hard-earned money: do some research; e.g., Doctor Cliff, AuD has a great YouTube channel with customer-centric advice and advocacy. This industry has changed a lot in the last 5 years and will be much more competitive in the near future. UPDATE 9/5/19: I went to Costco's Hearing Aid center yesterday (per my appointment) and I am so glad I did. I got a new hearing test (audiogram etc) from an extremely helpful, knowledgeable tech. She thoroughly reviewed my test results (and I got to take home hard copies). She reviewed all of my options and I selected the newest Resound rechargeable hearing aids at a cost of less than $3,000.00. I am highly confident SBH would have charged me more than $4,000.00 or whatever the owner could get out of me. Costco's people aren't on commission etc and cleaning, repair is included. I highly recommend Costco especially if you don't want to overpay for hearing aids. Update 9/11/19: The owner has replied to my review, and taken the time to correspond with me further. For this, I am grateful. She has a reasonable perspective and obviously cares about her reputation. As to my resentment that I paid so much, she writes plausibly, "And on a final note, I regret that your perception was that we only pushed the top product. We have pricing lists that we usually use in our discussion with patients showing 4 different levels of technology at 4 different price points. I may have glossed over going through all of the details of the other products because I was switching you from Lyrics (top technology) into something else. I may have assumed that you wanted to move into a comparable level product." My purchase was ultimately my responsibility. At the same time, I went to Costco because (as you can see) I had a trust issue with SBH. I trust Costco and was attracted to its citation that its audiologists are not paid commission. My confusion (or beef) with SBH is that I really don't know to what extent my transaction was informed by sales or incentive considerations, as opposed to my best overall interests (including the cost). If I knew what I know now, I would ask about any commissions or conflicts of interests. Personally, I sort of treated it like a visit to the doctor's office where I assumed they would have my total (including financial) bests interest in mind. But I think it's really important to know whether they are incentivized to sell one product over another; or whether selling the highest-priced ReSound (as in my case) nets the technician (or the store) additional commissions. If these were financial products, I would have known to do that, but I think savvy buyers of hearing aids should start asking these questions if only because this is still a medium- to very-expensive health product (that is not covered by my insurance). read more

My Mother-in-law found this hearing center on line and received the book "The Hearing Transformation" we made an appointment with Dr.Chris Johnson..he was wonderful, tried everything to help with the hearing aids she had, he made and/or ordered modifications to her hearing aids. She has narrow ear canals..the modification piece made for her, fit and work wonderfully.
