First off, there was enough food to feed an army. All the dishes were excellent! If you are looking for the quintessential Chinese takeout restaurant, try this one! We especially liked the beef entree. The GT chicken was all breast meat, which we prefer over thigh meat. Hot and sour soup was not too vinegary , so I didn't choke while slurping up the nicely flavored, slightly thickened broth full of bamboo shoots, egg and other veggies. The wontons were crispy, filled with the right amount of crab and cream cheese. The sweet and sour sauce for the pork and wontons was delicious , served on the side with batter-coated bite-sized tender pork chunks and plenty of pineapple, carrots and onion. Kind of expensive and not a lot of portions. My sister works in Castle rock and I wanted to have lunch with her, she had never been to this restaurant so we were both up for trying something new. I placed the order over the phone to go. When I arrived, there is a small parking lot so it was not that hard to find parking. My sister and I both ordered lunch specials. For the price we paid and the portion sizes we received, we did not think it was the "best bang for our buck". The food tasted average, nothing exciting to share, but it didn't taste horrible. I really enjoyed this Chinese restaurant. I went here because of the extremely mixed reviews, some saying it was amazing and some saying it was yucky and low quality. I found every thing was nice quality, well prepared and the restaurant was clean and the staff was very kind and helpful. We got general Tao's chicken and it was fantastic. One of the best I've ever had.... It was made with white meat pieces and a much lighter and less cloyingly sweet and intense sauce than many restaurants service. Don't get me wrong, sometimes I'm definitely into that since I didn't know it would be different here, but wow! Loved it! It also had some veggies in there which I also enjoyed. The rice was just okay. I should have gotten steamed rice as I usually enjoy it more. The lunch special came with an egg roll that I loved. It was filled with fresh and crunchy veggies. We had soups too and they were really nice and tasted more homemade than many other Chinese restaurants. A nice touch. The tea wasn't my favorite by a long shot. I wonder if they have any others? We also had the chicken and veggies and it was in a white sauce that tasted mildly of ginger. We enjoyed it a lot and my little one loved the veggies in it. Lastly, we had such kind service for my toddler and I although we were kind of slow and messy. I appreciated that so much! Ordered take-out. - Hot and Sour Soup, Happy Family, Chicken with Garlic Sauce. Unfortunately, the main dishes had limited depth of flavor. Beef was tender but lacked flavor. Shrimp was good, but chicken was bland. Fried rice was disappointing, as it seemed simply like white rice with some soy sauce mixed in. Soup had good flavor but was a bit thin and watery. The staff were pleasant. So perhaps this was just an off night, as other reviews seemed so promising Unfortunately, it will be a long time before we try again. read more

I met a lovely girl on Tinder that lives in Castle Rock. I accepted her lunch invitation and drove the 45 minutes to meet her. This restaurant is very clean and well maintained. The woman that took our order was friendly and engaging. The food came out fast and was quite delicious. I was clearly there on a date with another woman and the staff treated us extremely well. The lady who took our order was short and rude, she read my order back to me correctly, but apparently ended up not putting it in correct. This place is very unassuming and located in a fairly old strip mall. I wasn't expecting much. But the food is excellent. It's what I would call Chinese food for the American palate. It's not authentic, but it sure is delicious. I got the Mongolian beef because that's what I always get at these sorts of Chinese restaurants. It's how I judge the restaurant as a whole. South Garden III did not disappoint. The portion was large, the beef was tender, and the sauce was delicious and spicy. It's exactly what Mongolian beef in the US is all about. Not spicy at all. Combination fried rice was really awful. More like biege rice. Chicken and I think what was suppose to be pork were in worm like pieces and very chewy. I ordered delivery and what I was super surprised by were the chicken wings. They aren't saucy wings, just a basic batter and fry but man oh man were they crispy and delicious. Anyhow even kids chicken fried rice and noodles were tasteless. On top for dinner the quantity is usually bigger. But the quantity at this place was a little bigger than kids meal. Been coming to this place since I moved to Castle Rock in 2007. The owners are so friendly, the service is fast and their take-out business is always hopping. Sometimes they're a little rushed when waiting tables, and aren't overly chatty people...but if you bother to pay attention, and look at it from other than a selfish perspective, maybe you'd realize it's because they're trying to be as quick so you don't have to wait around a long time for your food, while trying to overcome language barriers. True - they don't have the best tap water. I have no idea why that is...but I don't go to a Chinese restaurant for the tap water. So I just order a Diet Coke or a glass of wine and get on with it. Parking is a little tight for the section of the strip mall they're in. However, Eric S., there are more than 5 spaces. Quit being dramatic, Whiny McWhinerson. There is TONS of other parking. If you can't deal with a 100 foot walk to your car, well, that's what we call a "First World Problem". Get over it and put one foot in front of the other and deal with a short walk from your heated/air conditioned vehicle over a paved parking lot to the restaurant where someone will wait on you, serve you your food and cook it for you. Seriously. Yes, this is very americanized Chinese food. But if that's what you're looking for then you're heading to the right place. Everything I have had here is really good. Orange chicken, curry shrimp, egg drop soup, hot & sour soup, crispy duck and more. I don't know how anyone could say that the portion sizes here are too small. When my husband and I come with my parents, we're able to order an appetizer and two dishes and still have leftovers.
