I want to preface this review by stating that my husband and I did A LOT of research prior to…read moredeciding to go with ORA. I came into the clinic with a need for a dental implant after an external resorption that rendered my tooth essentially worthless. I came to see a surgeon at the clinic, who eventually put me under anesthesia in order to remove my teeth and do a bone graft and, eventually, an implant. After months, I came back for a follow-up, and it became quickly clear that the implant was being rejected. At the follow-up, I asked if there were reasons why this could be the case (a genuine and fair question when you're paying over $5,000 for a procedure out of your own pocket) and the surgeon was EXTREMELY defensive and rude. It was an incredibly odd situation, since I'm young, healthy, have great oral hygiene, have no familial dental issues, and less than 5% of implants actually fail. I left the appointment feeling really dismissed. Eventually, the office took out the implant (for free, which I appreciated!). I was again put under anesthesia for the procedure. The surgeon did not call me to follow-up on how I was feeling (despite doing that on every other procedure I'd had there). Nobody from the office called me. Eventually, I brushed off the situation and went to speak to, in total, 3 dental professionals (periodontist, dentist, and oral surgeon). All 3 of these professionals, after looking at the x-ray, said that it looked as though there was something in my gums that likely prevented the implant from being successful. Finally, the periodontist cut open my gum and took out a piece of unremoved tooth (a leftover from the tooth that had been previously removed by the ORA surgeon). The leftover tooth--which was about 1cm in size--was causing me bleeding, puss, and eventually cost me THOUSANDS of dollars in dental care (while I was a student). Eventually, I sent an email to ORA asking if we could discuss my experience. My email explained that as both an attorney and a child of medical professionals, I understand that accidents happen, but that it's important to sit with patients that have grievances in order to (1) understand what happened and (2) figure out how to compensate (not necessarily financially) the patient. I have never received a single phone call or email back from ORA in response to this email despite laying out (1) the immense financial burden of the situation given it predominantly happened while I was a student, (2) the pain caused from the leftover tooth, and (3) the additional dental expenses incurred in the aftermath of attempting to fix the issue. In my head, just having a conversation with me, explaining to me the possibilities of what happened, and apologizing would have been MORE than sufficient to make me feel better and cared for by these professionals. I feel extremely disappointed in this office, primarily because I loved the staff very much! I felt disregarded and did not at all feel cared for as a patient. Of course, this does not disregard all of the great reviews that people have left for ORA on this page. But I hope that it can provide some additional information regarding my experience!

Instead, on the phone, they will say things like, "Let me teach you about dental insurance," which is rude and unprofessional. They will make canceling those weird charges seem like a grand gesture, which is false. In reality, it is an attempt to save face because you called them out. The entire experience from speaking with Marie, to being x-rayed by Sylvia, to the actual extractions was executed with professionalism, passion and compassion making sure I was put at ease. Listening as Dr. King did his initial examination it was clear that he was comfortable in his craft and expert in it. He and Sylvia worked quickly and seamlessly to remove two of my wisdom teeth assuring I suffered no discomfort. The constant reassurances that I was doing a great job seem funny since they were the ones doing a great job! Sylvia told me what to expect in terms of timing of return of feeling after the anesthesia. She gave me the To Dos and the Do Not Dos which were reiterated by Marie as she checked me out. I appreciated the treatment plan I was provided based on my exam without even a soft sell. The practice is done with what seems to be the latest technology in an office that is well appointed and inviting. In addition to receiving written post-op instructions I received an email a few hours later with additional post-op instructions and reminders. I'm writing this as the anesthesia has worn off and my pain seems manageable with the medication Dr. King prescribed. I want to thank Dr. King for his great medical care and for casting a shadow of leadership that makes his team feel and act as collaborating partners bringing a winning experience to their patients. Last month I had an issue with them charging me for a visit that I never scheduled, nor was I ever at their office on that day. And I was trying to call them to question why this charge was even there and they never answered my messages or my phone calls. I had to physically go to the office to talk to them about it, and they told me to just ignore the charges, because it was a mistake on their end. That was about 3 weeks ago, And I'm still getting messages about an unpaid invoice. Also, there is pain in my tooth after a crown replacement procedure , I have been calling, to get this issue dealt with before I get the permanent crown put on, but no one is returning my calls, I don't want to pay the money to go all the way to their office just to deal with something that could be handled in a phone call. My dental treatment here has been fine so far, I am confused as to why I'm having nerve pain after a crown replacement, when I had absolutely no pain on that tooth before the crown was replaced. But I don't know why this is happening nor can I get anyone on the phone to have a conversation about it or schedule a follow-up exam. Other than that my experience with the dentist here have been good. And that's really the only reason they're getting the two and a half stars. She charged me $300 of my insurance for X-rays, she examined my mouth and told me that I have no cavities, no gum disease, no periodontal disease, and that my wisdom teeth may be a problem in the future years from now. She recommend I get them removed so they would be a issue in the future just in case. So then I scheduled my cleaning. Then when I showed up for a regular cleaning, she told me she would refuse to clean my teeth unless I had surgery, she was forcing me to have oral surgery that didn't need to be done, in order to get a regular cleaning of my teeth. I asked why didn't you tell me that and they never left a voicemail or called. I asked them why can't I just have my regular cleaning, and she said she didn't feel comfortable until I had unnecessary surgery that she herself even admitted to me. I really had needed my teeth cleaned, I hadn't been in a while and to be treated this way was unacceptable. To make sure I wasn't crazy, I called multiple dentist and explained my situation, and they all told me that if I had no cavities or any disease or swelling and that I just had wisdom teeth that currently we're not a issue and wouldn't be for year's maybe and maybe not, then it is not regular practice for a dentist to force oral surgery that I explained I didn't want, and even worse the dentist even said wasn't a issue and may not be. I want a full refund from this place, I will be taking legal action against them with the dental board, this was not ok.
