I had a very disappointing experience with the service department at South Point Hyundai, largely because of how my concerns were handled. Before bringing my vehicle in for service, I called the dealership to ask about transportation. I was told that a courtesy shuttle was offered to take customers to and from the dealership while their vehicle was being serviced. Based on that information, I scheduled my service appointment expecting transportation to be available. When I dropped off my vehicle around 7:00AM, my service advisor, Hailey, informed me that a courtesy shuttle might not be available to bring me back to the dealership after my service was complete. I acknowledged that at the time. Later, when my vehicle was ready, I called and asked if a shuttle could be arranged. Hailey told me there were no guarantees but that she would try. I also asked whether I would be reimbursed if I had to take an Uber, and I was told there would be no reimbursement and that I would need to take my reimbursement concerns to Hyundai corporate. After waiting approximately 30 minutes without receiving an update, I called the dealership again. The employee who answered informed me that no shuttle request was on file. Thankfully, they immediately arranged transportation for me, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, when I arrived at the dealership, the situation became even more frustrating. Rather than acknowledging the communication breakdown or focusing on a resolution, I felt the conversation became argumentative. I asked to speak with a manager, and my mother joined the conversation by phone while the manager helped address the situation. Even then, I did not feel my concerns were taken seriously or that any responsibility was acknowledged. I understand that courtesy shuttle availability can be limited and that transportation cannot always be guaranteed. My disappointment is not about the lack of a shuttle itself--it's about being told beforehand that the dealership offered shuttle service, the apparent failure to submit my transportation request, the lack of communication after I called, and the way my concerns were handled afterward. Customer service is measured not only by whether problems occur, but by how they are resolved. Unfortunately, this experience fell well below my expectations, and I hope the dealership takes steps to improve communication, follow-through, and accountability for future customers. read more

I recently had a poor interaction with the parts department over a core charge on a transmission. Upon dropping off the new transmission my core was not ready to pick up 6/17/2026. I called and spoke with JD about writing two separate checks so I could get my core check back when the core was picked up. She informed me that was not possible. I have never worked with any dealership in the past that charged a core charge when picking up the transmission core at the time of drop off. Or that would not allow the shop to get the check back when the core was picked up later. When the driver showed up later in the day, he brought my check back to me and picked up the core. So, I assumed there was no issue in rewriting the check for the proper amount and retaining my core charge. Which is normal practice in this industry. 6/18/2026 JD called my store with unnecessary attitude about the core check. Had she spoken to me properly I would have tried to understand and helped her by writing a core check. However, she was extremely loud and rude. I asked the parts manager to follow up with me instead. Whence Jim the parts manager called me; I wanted to have a de-escalation and normal call. However, Jim also got blatant and rude whilst cutting me off mid conversation. It seems neither the parts sales rep nor the manager knows how to conduct business and speak appropriately to customers. Especially if they are asking for money. It also seems this business is hard up for money and relies on its customers' core bank to keep afloat. My two yo Elantra won't start when I first try pressing the ignition, and it shuts off the AC when it does this. It usually starts on the second attempt. I have taken my car in to repair this issue two times in the last six months, but they claim they cannot "replicate" or repair it. The technician suggested that they change my key fob battery for $50 to see if that would solve my issue. Note that a battery costs about $5 at most retail stores. I changed it myself for free, and it did NOT fix the issue. I also had the tires rotated and the car aligned. When I paid for that, they gave me a list of $10,000 suggested, optional repairs that are not covered by warranty. I said no, thanks. I did learn that this service department is owned by a separate entity - not by Hyundai. Apparently, all Hyundai service departments are owned by an external entity. It took several weeks total for them to tell me they could not repair my issue - but no time at all to ask me to pay them $10,000 for optional repairs. I am not satisfied at all. I have called numerous times for some recall work on my vehicle in which noone answered and they supposedly were going to call me back. I have not received any callbacks. If you value your car and your peace of mind, do not take your vehicle to South Point Hyundai for service. I've had multiple bad experiences here, and it's clear they don't care about their customers. Unlike most service centers that strive for good reviews and follow up to ensure satisfaction, South Point Hyundai doesn't even bother. I own an older Hyundai Genesis that requires a lift to change the oil due to the size of the skid plates. Most oil change locations with pits can't accommodate this, so I brought my car here expecting proper service. Unfortunately, during my last visit--right before a long drive to Sherman, TX--they failed to properly reattach the skid plates. The issue became apparent the next day when I hit highway speeds over 65 mph. The skid plate began flapping violently against the wind, creating a nerve-wracking and dangerous situation. Because I left the dealership during heavy Austin traffic, I didn't notice the problem until I was already on my trip. Over the course of the drive, I stopped at multiple oil change locations that tried to help secure the skid plate with zip ties, but the problem persisted. Things took a turn for the worse when part of the skid plate broke off entirely on the highway. Fortunately, the Hyundai dealership in Waco was far more professional--they repaired the skid plate enough to make it safe to complete my trip. Their helpfulness highlighted just how poorly South Point Hyundai handled the situation. After the trip, I contacted Hyundai corporate, and while they were initially sympathetic and collected my information, the service center's response quickly soured the process. South Point Hyundai outright denied touching the skid plates, even though removing them is a required step to change the oil. This blatant denial was infuriating, especially given the trouble and damage their negligence caused. Final Thoughts: South Point Hyundai's lack of accountability and refusal to take responsibility for their mistakes is unacceptable. Their service department is disorganized, unprofessional, and indifferent to customer concerns. Save yourself the headache and take your car elsewhere. I am writing this review to warn other owners about the service leadership at South Point Hyundai. I own a 2016 Genesis, a luxury vehicle that supposedly comes with a higher standard of service. My panoramic sunroof failed--a known defect that is the subject of Hyundai TSB 19-BD-007H and a class-action settlement. This isn't just a cosmetic issue; it is a safety hazard. Neighboring dealerships have reported these sunroofs literally flying off vehicles in traffic. The Service Failure: I dropped my car off on a Wednesday(Dec 10) and heard nothing for days. I had to chase them down for updates. While my Service Advisor, Drew Delgado, was personally helpful when I could actually reach him, the dealership's communication process is broken. The Management Failure: I applied for "Goodwill Assistance" because, although I am just outside the mileage for the extended warranty, this is a known manufacturing defect. Corporate denied me using circular logic (denying "Goodwill" because it's "out of warranty"--which is the whole point of Goodwill). If you drive a Genesis, do not expect luxury service here. South Point Hyundai will LIE to you about your damages. The service department tried to charge us $10,000 to fix two wires. After three weeks in the shop, they left off critical parts and didn't even tell us they still had a major piece of the car that they just FORGOT to put back on sitting in their shop for weeks. The error light we brought it in for came back on immediately after we picked up the car. We took it to Hyundai Kyle, and they fixed everything in one day--and told us about the missing skid plate, which we then had to track down at Southpoint. They admitted that they had it there for weeks, but just didn't say anything. The wiring had to be completely redone at the Kyle location, as it was not even properly done after three weeks at South Point. Do yourself a favor: buy your car at Hyundai Kyle instead. This has to be some of the worst service I've had. There was no sympathy toward my dilemma, and the prices were outrageous. After telling them exactly what to fix, they still charged me diagnostic fees even though I told them not to. From one stripped screw in my mirror, they wanted to replace the whole unit for $3000. For loose wiring they wanted to replace the unit for $5000. And even after declining the services i still had to pay $840 for them to look at it. Beware of South Point Hyundai's service dept -- especially Service Director John McMurtray. He tried to charge me $600 for AC cleaning on a brand-new Hyundai Tucson -- a clear warranty issue. When I refused to pay, he avoided me for over 2 hours, then told me they'd only replace the moldy cabin filter if I paid $40 -- or they'd put it back in. They did. They then falsely documented that I declined service and claimed to have cleaned the system. They didn't. They just sprayed air freshener. The smell returned. I later went to Steele Hyundai, who confirmed South Point did nothing. Steele did the real work -- odor gone. I've filed formal complaints with Hyundai (Case #40015910), BBB, and the Texas DMV Enforcement Division. This was not a misunderstanding -- it was manipulation, misrepresentation, and abuse of warranty rights. read more

I purchased a maintenance package (oil change & tire rotation) and a Tire/Wheel Protection Plan at the time of buying my vehicle. On May 14, 2025, I visited South Point Hyundai Service Center with a scheduled appointment for: An oil change, and Inspection of damage to my tire and wheel, caused by hitting a curb (deep scratch on the wheel and severe sidewall damage to the tire). After waiting over 3 hours(4pm to 7pm), only the oil change was completed. I was told to return the next day for the tire issue. Frankly, waiting 3 hours for a basic oil change--even with an appointment--is unacceptable. On May 15, I returned to the service center. The tire replacement took another 3 hours(11am to 2pm), and no effort was made to repair the scratched wheel. Most frustratingly, I was informed that my Tire/Wheel Protection Plan would not apply in this case, and I was forced to pay $379.93 out of pocket. If they had clearly told me upfront that the protection plan would not cover this, I would never have wasted my time here. I would have gone to a specialized tire shop with faster service and better pricing. This experience was a complete disappointment: Excessively long wait times (over 6 hours total across two days), Misleading application of a paid protection plan, Lack of transparency and accountability. I will never return to South Point Hyundai for service again, and I cannot recommend them to anyone. If you have a service or protection plan, ask very specific questions and demand clear answers in writing--otherwise, you may end up paying twice like I did. read more

TL,DR: Go somewhere else. The 2.5 average star rating is accurate - I would have selected a negative star rating if I could. I experienced awful, incompetent service and the mechanic lied to me about fixing my car (he didn't, but said he did on the receipt I signed). I won't use them again. I had a 9am appointment for an oil change and to fix my windshield washer fluid sprayer, which wasn't working. My car somehow "got lost in the shuffle" and a simple fix ended up taking 6 hours. After I asked repeatedly, they finally got me my car and a receipt saying everything was fixed. When I got in my car and tested the sprayer, which still wasn't working, the attendant said he "honestly forgot to tell me about that - they had diagnosed the problem as a clogged line, but didn't have time to unclog it since I was in a hurry" (despite having been there for 6 hours). He suggested I come back first thing in the morning "when they weren't so busy." I went to Goodyear the next day and the mechanic pointed out that the hose to my sprayer was disconnected. Fixed it in 10 seconds and didn't charge me at all. The Hyundai service folks are a joke. read more

In fact, I wouldn't ever buy here again until they get their service department under control. Warranty is a waste of time. In my case, I took it in telling them the outdoor air temp sensor needed to be replaced. The mechanic broke the sensor trying to get it out. He said it was that way already and a rock must have bounced up into the grille and broken it. The location of the sensor and the way it was broken, along with no other apparent damage from a 'rock', it is clear that would have been a truly miraculous projectile. They charged me the diagnostic fee (for the thing I told them was wrong) and said the $600 repair wasn't covered under warranty. I took it home and replaced it myself in 5 minutes with a part I bought online for $60. read more

She brought her car in for service and they charged her $259.99 to diagnose each problem. The problems they diagnosed were not what she brought the vehicle in for. She clearly didn't understand what was going on, but they forced her to pay it. $520 to diagnose two problems that didn't really need a diagnosis. I gave her the problem codes to take with her. These guys wanted $1,328.93 to replace a rear door window regulator. Due to the distance I live from my mother, I'm not able to take care of all of her problems, but this dealership is clearly out to take advantage of people. I also warn you that while I was in line at Steele, I met 2 other customers that had the same issues with their Hyundai...around 60,000 miles most Hyundais start guzzling oil and oil changes last less than 1000 miles before the oil runs out and the engines tend to fail around 80,000 miles.
