Stopped in to look at getting myself a new driver. Stopped golfing for 20 years, just getting back into it and my driver shot off the tee is beyond inconsistent. Slice after slice, then 240 pin straight... Paul approached me, took me to the simulator to see my swing and try a few clubs. After 20 minutes of offering me swing suggestions and trying different clubs he said, "I'd hate to seek you the wrong club right now just to sell you a club. I'd feel much better if you come back when the pro is in. He'll be able to better figure out what you're doing wrong and find the right club for you." I am beyond grateful for his honesty and integrity, and it goes without saying that I will not buy a club anywhere else! I'm positive that he's more than capable of getting most people into the correct clubs for them, but in my case, I require the pro. I was recommended to SSG by a good friend who was very pleased with his driver purchase there. I made an appointment with Rich to be fitted for a driver. I warmed up with my current driver before Rich began having me hit various drivers based on the feedback from the simulator. While I occasionally hit one well, I was really struggling with my consistency. Really struggling. At that point, Rich stopped the fitting process and made some observations about my swing. I was gripping the club way too tight and was tentative in "finishing" my swing. He gave me a drill to practice and left me in the simulator to work on it. After 20 or so times practicing the drill, I began to find my rhythm. We went back to fitting me for a driver, and put together a club/shaft/grip that helped optimize the flight path and spin I needed. 10 more minutes in the simulator and I was seeing a much more consistent flight path, and 20-30 yards better distance as I loosened my stranglehold on the club. I ordered my driver, and Rich lent me the demo I hit until if came it a week and a half later. Played 2 rounds in the interim, swinging free and easy, with great results. Best two rounds of my year, somewhat due to the club, more due to the advice Rich gave me. I now realize how mismatched my 10.5 regular flex driver and I were. Picked up my club today, and Rich spent another 20-30 minutes in the simulator with me, giving me a few more simple cues to keep in mind over the ball, and another drill to help me make it automatic. This is why you go to a pro. I've spent ten years with the wrong driver because I tried to fit it myself, and then tried to fit my swing to it. Now I have a club that fits my swing, at a very fair price, along with some simple drills to help me optimize my swing. I've already recommended SSG to others in my golf circle. read more

Went for my first fitting ever for a driver. Rich fitted me even with my bad shoots he looked at my good and bad shoots and found the perfect driver TSI2. Great attitude and relaxed store made me comfortable. First day out with the driver wasn't good got use to it 2nd day out i shot a 91 with my longest drive being 310 yards 58 yds short of the green on a par 4. 86% of fairways hit so im delighted lol. I also got fitted for a 3 wood its great same setup and model as my driver. Thank you Rich you got a new customer for life and hopefully a student for lessons in the near future. read more

I just had to leave a review due to the incredible experience I had getting fitted for new irons. Rich spent 40 minutes with me switching shaft lengths and weight and club heads just to dial in the perfect clubs for me.. I said it on google this is the best purchase experience iv ever had.. if you're like me and wondering if this is a good club fitter ... I can assure you, you found what you're looking for. I stopped in yesterday and could not be happier. I brought my clubs in, 13 of them to be regripped. Both guys I spoke to were very knowledgeable and answered any questions I had. I left hit the bank grabbed a cup of coffee and was back in 45 minutes. There were my clubs up front and ready to go, they now have another new customer. Horrible people, with bad attitudes, and lackluster customer skills and organizational skills. Let's call them SSG from here forward. I had a pretty big job for them regarding my Mizuno MP-64s. 4 iron thur PW - Re-shaft with brand new X100 Dynamic Gold Shafts - extend said shafts 3/4" - New grips - lay them flat 2 degrees - de-loft 1 degree - I had work for them to do on my wedges as well, re-grip, bending forward, de-loft minus 1 degree - I also had them do some work on the lie of my Callaways as well. Re-gripping as well. All is good until I pick them up in late October 2013. The Mizunos just didn't feel right. I literally put them away until early this Spring. I took them out again, thinking maybe, something is just wrong with me. Funny thing is I'm hitting my Callaways lights out. They SSG did what they were asked to do regarding the Callaways OK, so some guy at the range says to me, in conversation, while working out, that the Mizunos didn't feel right to him either. Finally convinced, I took them to another pro shop, where it was confirmed that: - they were re-purposed shafts, old, very used - they were never cut correctly - they were never stepped correctly - stickers were missing and or falling off the shafts there were plugs or extensions inserted into the shafts instead of them being cut correctly, to the 3/4"extension asked (which was impossible, since they were not brand new). As you might realize, the stepping on the shafts should run at a relative diagonal, down from the 4 iron to the 9 iron, the PW being about the same shaft as the 9 iron. It cost me another $300 to have them done correctly by the other shop. Note that I said nothing to the new shop. I just asked them if they could tell me what was wrong with the Mizunos. They confirmed every single point above. - SSG did re-grip my clubs, however, they were bubbling off and had to be re-gripped, especially my wedges. - SSG never did the work to my wedges in terms of the lie or the de-lofting. they now refuse to take responsibility for the re-purposed shafts on the Mizunos, but were happy to charge me for new ones. I was told, by Rich of SSG, that the "customer relationship is not working out for either party" or some other such nonsense. SSG refused to make it right, telling me, in essence, to go f&*^ myself. clear cut nonsense by the owners of the shop. Never again. You would be better served going to a shop that takes pride in their customer service, their work and their reputation. Beware. You've been warned. They know exactly who I am, the clubs they were supposed to work, and the money involved. Thus, I have no problem telling you exactly who I am. Richard F. I have been there to try new clubs and did demo some there before choosing Taylor Mades at a different store only because SSG did not stick Ladies Taylor Made.
