Absolutely fire food! And super affordable. Honestly was shocked at how heavy this portion was! I ordered pickup (not realizing they were getting ready to close) and the staff couldn't have been nicer. It took me a minute while waiting inside to realize I was looking at renovations to what used to be Stockyard (rip). Place looks so different than before and has more seating available. When I finally dug into my noodles at home, I was delighted. it's just nice to know a good business filled the hole stockyard left. Def recommending these guys to others in the neighborhood (especially since other new businesses just doors away like Asad's actually has some of the worst customer service my friends and I have experienced anywhere).

We ordered cumin style lamb ( the lamb was nice and tender), vegetable lomein, and shrimp fried rice ( was not soaked in soy sauce like many Philly spots tend to do). The location looks like a regular corner Chinese store. It was clean inside. We ordered prior to Arriving and was told 15 mins and our food was ready when we walked in. Next time, I will try the Dan Dan noodles with minced pork!

We loved South Sichuan!!! We decided to get Chinese delivery and were complaining about how Han Dynasty was too expensive last time we ordered there. So we branched out and tried South Sichuan. Everything was so delicious - and the portions were great!!! We, of course, had the cucumbers bc it is a fave of mine. Delish! And the dan dan noodles. We ordered 2 other meals and ate them for days. My only setback was the spicy tofu and fish was too spicy for me. But my bf loved it!! Def will be ordering from here again and again.

This place has been viral recently on social media so we gave it a try and was kinda disappointed. First, it is a take out only place, so I expected service to be super fast. I waited for probably 30+ minutes because they had so many uber eats/doordash orders. Definitely recommend giving them a call way beforehand so you can just come pick up when it is done. As for the food, the green bean is too soft/overcooked imo, but seasoning is okay. The wonton in chili oil is more sour than usual. I'm not sure if this is sichuan style or not, but I'm not a fan, and it is also quite spicy even after I ask for less spicy lol. Dan dan is normal, not a lot of peanut butter taste, and even though the menu doesn't say it is spicy, it is. Price is affordable.

Okay so boom, I was craving spicy food. I knew that there was a place in south Philly that had Sichuan and the reviews I had been hearing were pretty good. Fast forward to me asking for my food to be even spicier and them actually accommodating me! I didn't know my food came with rice so I got double rice! It was awesome. I wished that it was just a tad less salty but that's my own personal preference. I truly enjoyed it so much I can't wait to try other things on the menu! Thank you for listening and giving me even spicer food!

If you are in Philly COME CHECK SOUTH SICHUAN OUT! 10/10 Every dish we got was jammed packed with flavors! If you love spice this is the spot! (Even if you don't like spice they have options for you!) The service was quick and super friendly! It's a to go spot so pick up your dishes and have a nice picnic at a park! On our next trip back to Philly we are definitely coming back!

Highly recommend! Delicious food and reasonable prices for their generous portions. Everything I ordered was great--here are some of my favorites: Chicken Wings, Mapo Tofu, Pork Dumplings with Chili Oil, and Dan Dan Noodles! Service was fast and fantastic

Saw this place go viral on TikTok and had to try it, especially since my boyfriend is a big fan of DanDan noodles and Sichuan food. As soon as we arrived, the whole block smelled amazing with that signature Sichuan aroma! It's a takeout-only spot, so we went in and placed our order. We got the DanDan noodles (of course), spicy crispy cucumber, and cumin-style chicken. The food took about 15 minutes, which felt reasonable. The noodles were super spicy but really tasty, according to my boyfriend. I loved the cumin chicken, so flavorful! The cucumber had great flavor too, but it was a little warm and not as crispy as we hoped. Overall, a great spot for authentic Sichuan dishes with reasonable prices and portions. Street parking was easy too. Definitely worth checking out!

Newer takeout only spot for Sichuan cuisine in south Philly. Heard good things so had to try. Very quick preparation and picking up is easy at the window inside. The entire place looks quite well kept which is always good to see. Ordered dry pepper rub chicken and dan dan noodles, two tasty dishes to compare. Dan dan noodle were overall okay, very strong sesame sauce though the spice was a bit bland. Large portion here. Dry pepper rub chicken was quite good, had a fair amount of peppers but could've been amped up a bit. Overall I'd say food is 4/5, service & speed is 5/5, and cost is 5/5. Good new spot, thanks.

Love this Chinese place! Takeout only and their food is delicious. The portions are generous and the service is quick. I really enjoyed their mapo tofu, eggplant, and the spicy tofu we got! The noodles were ok- wish they had a little more flavor! Overall, my go to Chinese takeout spot!

Then the staff got to work. Took drink orders and food orders. The food was ordered by my daughter so I really don't know what was name of each dish. The Hot and Sour was super. The food is served family style and it turned out that we requested too much. However, all the dishes were yummy. Favorites were the spicy dumplings, won ton soup, orange chicken, and beef and tofu. There are so many Asian restaurants in this area that you could never try all of them. Anyway, I'm glad we enjoyed EMei. Recommend.

The homemade DanDan noodles were our favorite, which are served with ground pork in a spicy peanut sauce. We also got the three cup chicken which was so good, with a sweet, licorice-like glaze. Unfortunately the experience at pickup wasn't the best. I asked if they had included utensils and the gentleman at the counter said no. I asked for some since I was bringing the food back to my hotel and wouldn't have anything to eat with. He was pretty dismissive and didn't seem to want to give me anything. (I also didn't get any napkins.) Just a little strange when ordering takeout, utensils should be included right? Or at the very least be readily given out when requested? He begrudgingly gave me 2 pairs of chopsticks and a fork, said he ran out of spoons. I didn't notice the lack of napkins until I got back. Now for the food. We ordered dan dan noodles, a chicken lo mein, and Taiwanese minced pork rice. The noodle dishes were decent but the lo mein was a bit too al dente for our liking...especially for our young son. Didn't get a chance to eat the rice because we were all too full from the noodles. Appreciate the generous portions at least. Will see if the rice will make it home safely with us and reheats well. Can't speak on the ambience. Wasn't in there long enough to really look around. Will I order from them again or try in person in the future? I'm not sure. I wasn't blown away by the food or service so...

However, I found that the meal didn't live up to what I remembered at the UCity Han Dynasty or the Sichuan food I've had at other spots. My partner and I ordered the dan dan noodles and double cooked pork belly to share, our longtime regular order. The portions were generous and prices were affordable, but both dishes fell short in some ways. The dan dan noodle sauce was mostly sesame-based with little of the chili heat I remembered, and there was only a bit of the ground pork topping. It left me wondering whether they hold off on the spice at this location due to the clientele, whether they changed the recipe, or whether it was just an off day. The pork in the double cooked pork was overcooked and tough, and the dish didn't have enough of the veggie components (leeks and peppers) to balance it out. Another minor nitpick - there was a World Cup game going on while we ate and the multiple downstairs TVs had the game on. The second floor where we were seated also had a nice big TV, yet it seemed to be left on a screensaver slideshow of random landscape photos. Would have been nice to watch the game! I was overall left feeling pretty meh about the meal. I'd give the UCity location another shot, but don't think I'd come back to the Old City one.
