I had a really good experience at South Bay Auto Center! I head to this area about twice a month and on my drive, my car system suddenly notified me that my tire pressure was low; in particular, one tire even showed up as 0 PSI. It was scary because I'm not local to the area and was worried about my 30 mile drive back. I was just searching for any car repair shop on my way and happened across South Bay. The gentleman who helped me was so nice and helpful! He helped to check all my tire pressures and also checked the monitoring system to see if everything was working correctly. Everything seemed to be working correctly. He inflated my tires and assured me I should be fine until I got back. He did suggest that my tires were due for a changing. He did all of this free of charge and I felt comfortable the entire time I was there. If I ever have a car issue when I'm in the area, I would go back again! read more

I took my vehicle to south bay auto center because of an electrical issue. When I dropped my car off, I was given a receipt that basically said I would be charged ( $185) for a diagnostic exam. I was also informed that once that findings were revealed by the diagnostic exam,if I had the work done the price for the diagnostics would be included, but if not, I would just be charged a ($185)for the diagnostic exam. I was called a week later by the shop And told that it was my rear windshield defrost (relay fuse) that is constantly running even when the car is turned off but still draining my battery. I was told that the repairs would be a charge of $550 ( basically, to remove a fuse from the fuse box up under the hood) which were for the labor but no fuse was replaced, it was only disconnected. Upon further research of his information, I found that it was only a fuse up under the hood that could be simply extracted within a minute's time. When I confronted david ( the shop i'm mechanic) he basically informed me that the reason why he was charging me five hundred and fifty dollars is because he had to diagnose the car.Twice. 185×2=370 $550-370 = 180. So if I was being charged twice for a diagnostic exam there is still a question of the sum of $180 remaining. I feel like I was extremely overcharged. Just because of my lack of knowledge concerning vehicle maintenance and diagnostic exams. First I was told that I was being charged five fifty for labor, but when I done a little research, and I called back to question it, then I was being told, I was charged for a two time diagnostic exam. South bay auto center overcharge me and I believe that I am not the only one that has had this problem. Next I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. And I will be talking to an attorney to take civil action. Do not I repeat, do not take your vehicle to South Bay. Auto center. read more

As I read these negative comment I would like to say that some of us have unrealistic expectations of our vehicles and a repair shop ability to correct issues. I moved to this neighborhood in 2013 and I've worked with them since. I have aways been met with honest conversation about my five vehicles and I've never been asked to repair something that did not require it. I've always been given an estimate of time when maintenance work is needed and patient when what was diagnosed was not the problem. When corrected issues malfunction within the year they correct it and continue to work with the vehicle until it works as expected. My daughter broke the passenger side mirror on her car on Monday. The part came on Wednesday and it took all of 20 min to. All parts worked as expected. I did not even bother taking the 1999 Toyota Camry to the dealer as the cost would have been outrageous. David and the entire repair team are great and I look forward to working with them again if the need arises. read more

This place is great. Someone tried stealing the catalytic converter off my Tacoma from my driveway but didn't succeed. Their attempt, however, severely damaged multiple parts on my truck, leaving me with a compromised cat in need welding repairs along with replacement of parts damaged during the attempted theft. The guys at Southbay got straight to it and had my exhaust+cat welded with parts replaced within a couple hours. Price was also very fair. Great customer service and craftsmanship. Very disappointed! I take my Mustang there for alignment . Ask them how much time they need because I'm in hurry. They say can do it in 45 min. and cost 140 dollars. And will start right away. One guy from there take the car for driving test. He leave with car. After 20 min, maybe more I let them know I not want anymore the repair because is late already and I want my car back. They call that guy tell him to come back and after another 10 min he finally come back. I come here and ask them if they can do this job right away because I was having a meeting in one hour and half and they say yes, 45 min. This guy take my car I don't know where for 30 min. So, let me tell you guys. Jesse has the best service and attitude when it comes to his clients and his business. I came in because I didn't realize that my engine was running out of transmission oil. Went through the worst experience ever with Auto Nation BMW of Las Vegas. Bought the car November 2019 My Mom drive the car to California for me. By the time she got to California ( Literally the state line) Tire pressure monitor and check engine light was on. I contacted my salesperson he told me dont worry about it... you can take it to any Auto Nation Dealership and they will take care of it just as we would. So we did... took it to the nearest Auto Nation to us they said it was the coolant holes and tank.... they ref me to South Bay BMW fr the expansion tank...They wanted 6k in repairs... that wasn't going to happen ... I used RepairPal they referred me to South Bay Auto Center .... thank GOD ... they gave me numbers over the phone 1) high equality 2)middle equality 3)low quality, they didnt try to nickel and dime me. My Dad brought his 2003 Camry to get fixed here, they replaced the valve cover gasket and put coolant in the car (which a mechanic there called coolant water) and got it back literally one day of driving the car, the car sounded like it was sputtering and the car overheats.. My Dad ask me to take the car back to them and they tell me the head is blown. All they did was tell me they aren't at fault, tried to blame it on a loose radiator cap which wasnt and didn't even try to work out a deal to fix the car. They estimated the fix to be $1400, at that price I mind as well drop a new engine. NEVER coming back here again. read more

I shared with Howard that I also needed to bring my car in for a Smog Check soon, and that my Check Engine light was on, ...He was helpful and interested in helping me ASAP.
